Task Force Iron Wall

OOC Date: MArch 11, 2025
Location: Crait
Participants: Cin'cirad Rook, Ferr'ai'ovumlu, Hadrix Kora, Jon Korbix, Yer'ok'omam

Located off of any significant hyperspace lanes, the only traditional value of the Crait System had been for its proximity to the much more significant systems of Eriadu, Sullust, and Naboo. As might be expected, an irrelevant system so close to rich worlds became a popular stopover for smugglers, pirates, and- in past generations- rebels. To prevent smuggling operations taking root, a small fleet had been posted to the system, presently flagged by the Victory II-class destroyer *Chase*, and its trio of escort craft: a Sentinel comm frigate, a Ton-Falk escort carrier, and most notably the Interdictor cruiser *Net*.

It was a significant investment of resources for such a minor system, but anything less would have been ineffective, and anything more would have been flagrant overkill.

In the Imperial Navy, the Crait posting had the reputation of being horribly dull. It was considered by many to be a punishment detail, as there was no civilian populace, no settlements, no shore leave, and only the flimsy hope of abusing the occasional dim-witted smuggler to break up the monotony. Officers posted to the system flagship would occasionally be diagnosed with 'Crait Fever', the treatment of which required convalescing for 48 hours on Naboo.

Thus, when the officer of the watch aboard the *Chase* - a junior lieutenant- was informed by a panicked ensign that they were under attack, their first response was skepticism and annoyance. "What? By who?" Precious moments were lost as the lieutenant stomped over to verify, before eyes went wide and a ship-wide comm was shouted, <<"All hands: battle stations! Captain and Wing Commander to the bridge! Launch all the- LAUNCH EVERYTHING.">>

Ascendancy Fleet (Yer'ok'omam)
The significance for the Imperial Navy was marginal, perhaps, but for the Rebellion it could be a lucrative investment of resources. Pulling navy assets away from neighboring systems to defend or retake it, from Sullust, Eriadu, and in the best of circumstances, Hapes.

The battle plan had been discussed, now was the time for action. With the Mon Cal Cruiser Ascendancy dropping out of hyperspace with the full force of X-Wings already launched from both the Dark Star Quasar and the Flag Ship of the Ascendancy Fleet. She stands upon the bridge with her hands locked behind her back, staring at the view screens that offer tactical analysis from long ranged scanners and the forward observation port to get a naked eye view of the theater. "XO Lor'di'li, inform Squadron leads to engage in attack patterns Zeta. Our primary concern will be that comm ship. Captain Rog'us of the Dim Light will assist and protect fighters." There's a silent nod from the scarred Chiss XO stationed beside the Captain, Yer'ok'omam.

Legacy (Jon Korbix)
The arrival of the Legacy was no as dramatic as it might have been in the holos. The Captain had made it to his seat, and officers were already arranged within their appropriate stations getting systems online. Jon's voice cut over the comms, the encrypted tone making him sound like a robot on the other ships.

<<"Taskforce Iron Wall is a go. Priority target is the interdictor.">>

Jon was not one for bravado or seeking credit; his role in the fleet had always been support and that had not changed here. "Commander Rook, send out our fighters. -- Gunnery, I want firing solutions on that cruiser. Helm.. take us forward! Here we go, people."

Legacy (Cin'cirad)
<"Yes, Sir."> She comments back to Jon on the order to send out the fighters. Sira is currently looking over the displays in front of her aboard the Legacy, her eyes moving around without her head having to move as she takes it in. As usual, in her Mandalorian armor, she doesn't really need to move her head to see it across the augmented reality display. Her right finger starts tapping on the edge of the console for a moment before accessing the internal comms. <<"Egg, launch both squadrons.">>

Within a few moments, the fighters start streaming out of the Legacy's hangars. The various calls as they clear it and start to swarm around while gathering up into their flights. The chatter is lighthearted at the moment and Sira takes it in, a bit of a smile as she enjoys the banter. Someone complaining about some prank, or another dishing out a ribbing about some incident that happened. She enjoys letting them have their moments of fun before the work has to begin.

<<"Bingo and Iris, Legacy Actual. Form up your squadrons and get ready. And, Iris, tell Vapor she's getting to fly the CAP after we finish. Crawly was not a fan.">> Sira too enjoyed to get the little digs in from time to time.

Cheikix Chokez, the Chief Gunnery Officer, and determined not to live up to his abysmal performance last time, calls out "Aye, Sir." As he busies himself, making calls down to the various gun crews to check on their status while beginning work on obtaining a solution on the cruiser.

Kyr'am ra Kote (Hadrix Kora)
No vast bridge, no grandiose view, the 'bridge' of the Kyr'am Ra Kote was small, cramped and made moreso by the man who stood in the center of it in full armor. Made claustrophobic by the similar plates of those around him. Pheegus and Greeza sat at the pilot and co-pilot seats with Kar'tracyn and Mir in the systems and weapon control stations watching the stars shrink back to pinpricks and the other craft of Legacy fleet 'appearing' around him.

<<"Kyr'am Ra Kote, acknowledged. Pick your targets Alor'ad Korbix...">>

Hands folded before him, as ever, the big man watched through the forward viewscreen as well as on the readouts on his HUD. <"Pheegus, bring us to the fore, maintain fighter screening position until we are ordered otherwise.">

A nod from the Ithorian in heavily modified armor as their hands move across controls, engines flaring and carrying the old Gozanti cruiser to position.

Illumination Fleet (Ferr'ai'ovumlu)
"I love this part."

Captain Ferr'ai'ovumlu of the Illumination Fleet stands on the bridge of the Illumiination. His hands are behind his back and the rest of the crew are doing everything they can to make sure that everything is running smoothly as possible. This is what he likes to call a Well Oiled Machiine. And he does indeed like his ship running like a well oiled machine.

"Keep the Communications Frigate on stand by. Hold until I give the order." Captain Raio just straightens himself up a bit as he stands tall.

His eyes move from the tactical readouts to the view in front of him and he simply takes one small breath to prepare himself for this engagement.

"Let's Rebel." He really is testing out catch phrases for some reason, huh? Weird.

The squadrons of TIE fighters had not emerged with the uniformity and overwhelming numbers often expected of the Sith navy. Instead, the squadrons had emerged piecemeal over the course of the battle's opening minutes as the capital ships closed to within firing range; the TIEs hung back in a defensive position until the standby fighters had been joined by their fellows, and all five squadrons were finally deployed. The lost time had cost them terribly, as by the time they were being given clear orders, the rebel fightercraft were upon them. Still, the skill of the Empire's pilots is not lacking, and at first, the outnumbered TIE pilots extract a bloody toll on their counterparts. It's not until the coordinated fire of a pair of corvettes begin to decimate the TIE formations that the tide in the dogfight begins to turn.

Meanwhile, the reflexive reaction of the commander aboard the Interdictor *Net* was to employ smuggler protocols, which involved activating the ship's gravity well projector that trapped all vessels inside the system. Only after the opening salvos had glittered back and forth in the void to devastating effect was the point driven home that it was the Imperial fleet which would have need of escape, not some outgunned outlaw in a freighter. The mistake proved fatal within the first hour of battle, as the diminished shields of the *Net* are smashed aside and the dagger-shaped cruiser is destroyed by the combined fire and torpedoes of the rebel fleet.

Illumination Fleet (Ferr'ai'ovumlu)
Captain Raio is standing firm at his station and making sure that the rest of his crew are all handling things. His XO is definitely handling the Squadrons as they've been sent out to deal with TIEs upon TIEs upon TIEs and there's a good reason why he's hired the command crew that he has... so he doesn't have to babysit them. They know what to do. They know how to make things happen that need to happen.

That's why they work with Raio. He only takes the best of the best.

Speaking of which, that is why he's spent his moments making sure that his gunnery officers have fired off the correct shots needed to punch a hole in that Interdictor. There's a plan in motion here and Raio is doing making sure to do his part.

As he watches the dogfight of his fighters progress, he switches screens to keep an eye on his support craft. Looks like he might be getting ready to hail them...

Legacy (Jon Korbix)
There's a cheer on the bridge as the interdictor vessel suddenly combusts. Jovial shakes given to Lt. Chokez who seemed bashful suddenly. "Superb shooting, Mr. Chokez. Onward with the fight. It appears our flagship is targeting the frigate. Mr. Chokez.. another firing solution if you will."

The Legacy presents its shields in and effort to safeguard the Kyr'am ra Kote from heavy battery fire. Shields shimmer in response. With engines still bright and pushing their cruiser forward, battery guns begin to shift as Lt. Chokez works on the next firing solution. "Fire when ready, Lieutenant."

Kyr'am ra Kote (Hadrix Kora)
<"H'enemy fighters moohfing into h'range..."> Mir's dust filled voice rising through his helmet vocalizer, the Mandalorian Rememberer's hands moving with long standing muscle memory while he speaks, head turning towards the younger in the fire control seats across the bridge.

Kar, in his shades of black and scarlet, pushes a slide on his console, maximizing charge before the quad and heavy cannons begin spitting emerald fire.

<"Keep us maneuvering to angle on their fighters. Keep up pressure.">

<"Elek, Al'verde.">

<<"Alor'ad Korbix, anti-fighter operations are proceeding. I am intent on continuing anti-fighter pressure unless you deem otherwise.">> It might even be appropriate that the Coruscanti accent is coming from the, old, Imperial designed ship. The steady destruction of fighter craft at the hands of The Boy having Hadrix clenching a fist around the other wrist.

Legacy (Cin'cirad)
<<"All Squadrons, Legacy Actual. Commence run on the Interdictor. I want that thing hulled.">> Sira tells her squadrons as she begins to push around a few of the markers to try and create the route for them to take in real time. Watching as the evolving dogfight breaks out amongst the other squadrons and the Ascendancy splits its own fighters in assistance to a few different avenues.

Her path took the squadrons around, with the War Strills cutting a path for the bombers behind. Her eyes flicking toward the viewscreen and instinctively grabbing the edge of the console as she felt the ship start to veer in an attempt to cover a corvette commanded by Hadrix.

<<"Vapor, I got tone.">>

<<"Babs, me too.">>

<<"Sylops, let them feel it.">> Iris follows up the continued confirmation of the rest of the bombers getting a lock on the Interdictor. Their torpedoes shot away in a wave that ripped through the last of the Interdictors shields and caused the collapse with some minor hull damage.

<<"All Squadrons, Legacy Actual. Shift to the Comm Frigate that-">> And like that, the Interdictor turned into a hunk of exploding debris, <<"-Interdictor isn't for much longer.">> The Legacy's squadrons turning in on the Comm Frigate and launching off another volley of concentrated fire to assist in the Ascendancy Fleet in taking down the shields.

Ascendancy Fleet (Yer'ok'omam)
Early into the battle and things are going fairly well for the Rebels, "Sir, the Comm Frigate got off a signal, we were unable to scramble it." Says the spidery voiced XO standing beside her, "Understood, shift targets away from the Intradictor onto that Frigate. Squadrons move in formation to engage." There's an acknowledgement and a series of whispered words in the dark lit bridge full of glowing red eyes.

The shields hold under the initial barrage of turbolaser fire, but the Ascendancy begins to lumber. Turning slowly to present the forward guns away from the damaged Intradictor towards the smaller, more agile, Frigate covered in satellite arrays.

"Captain De'arti, continue to engage that Imperial Quasar." Said over Fleet comms. Beyond, the X-Wings and A-Wings are engaged in a pitched dogfight with TIEs, lighting up the void of space with a cross glow of red and green laser fire. "Six fighters are returning to the hanger for repairs, Captain." "Prepare to reenforce the weakened flight with fighters from Boar squadron. Notify, the Squad commander, Major."

The battle was never equal, but by the end of the second hour of combat, the Imperials have lost a cruiser and a frigate, with their remaining ships hastily seeking vectors to escape the system into hyperspace. What few TIEs who escaped the overwhelming rebel onslaught had already fled, leaving no squadrons to oppose the rebel snubfighters, as the X-wings smell blood...

The Victory class *Chase* is pivoting ponderously toward its escape vector when the last of the summoned reinforcements streak into the system: another Interdictor-class cruiser. For an instant on the bridge, an Imperial Commander had raised a gloved hand to signal the projection officer, ready to deploy a grsavity well as soon as they emerged from hypersapce. Then they arrived, and the utter disaster of the Imperial defense became very apparent. The poised glove was discreetly and slowly lowered with a cleared throat and the swift order: "Helm, chart a return course. Immediately."

Illumination Fleet (Ferr'ai'ovumlu)
Raio gets incoming information from his crew and it all matches up with what he's seeing on his screens. He's ready for whatever comes next and his list of contingencies hasn't even been scrolled yet. He's truly just prepared for the next moment. "Show them why they call us scum." is muttered with an almost sinister grin on his features. Granted, it seems as though the grin is even more fitting on his Chiss features. Maybe sinister Raio is the new vibe.

When the ship gets rocked by return fire, his hands reach out too the railing in front of him. "Steady. Hold." He's calm. He's not worried about anything happening. He trusts this ship. He loves this ship. He treats her right and she performs whatever he needs. And right now he needs to obliterate these Imperials.

"Finish them." Okay, yeah, that's Sinister Raio alright. A switch has been flipped and maybe it was the fact that his ship got rocked a tad. And he doesn't want to let them get away...

Legacy (Jon Korbix)
<<"Continue your operation, Commander Kora. Your diligence against these fighters has helped pave the way for victory.">> Jon responds.

The fight continues, and the Imperial comm frigate combusts, earning another cheer on the bridge. This time, Jon claps, sharing a look with Mr. Chokez, and an approving nod.

Fire shifts toward the newly arrived Corvette, and the Legacy is shelling with a firing solution employed off the cuff. Mr. Chokez looks determined in his work, watching the multitude of feeds from all the cannons and batteries.

Legacy (Cin'cirad)
<<"Squadrons, Legacy Actual, new target. Break up that furball if you please.">> She looks up toward Jon, <"Interdictor and Comm Frigate have been removed from the table, I'm going to send them after the Squadrons and whoever was called in by that Comm Frigate."> She glances over toward the sensors operator, a Rodian nicknamed Zoomie. <"Zoomie, call out its arrival."> And then she's back to listening in on the comms.

<"Watch your six, Kestral!"> calls out a Mon Calimari voice.

<"I'm on him, break right-break right!"> Chomper says with a bit of a scowl to her voice.

<"Thanks Bingo."> That one was definitely Iris with the way she said it.

It was all calls out, simple things said in the heat of the moment as the Red Sylops preferred to stay at a bit more of a distance to launch their ordnance into the area, while the War Strills closed distance and took the fight more directly. And that they did, for that matter, they both scratched a good number of TIEs to their name before the call of the Sensor Operator comes in. "Raider Corvette, bearing 33 mark 10."

<<"Bingo, Iris, Legacy Actual. New target. Again, new target.">> And she's laying in the course for the squadrons as they turn to lay into the shields of the Corvette as it seems to want NONE of what the Rebels have brought to this fight.

Kyr'am ra Kote (Hadrix Kora)
Watching the Imperial craft going up under the continuing fire of Rebel capital craft and fighters - Hadrix continues to watch. A statue aboard his bridge. Pheegus and Greeza keeping their flight pattern level - close to the Legacy.

<<"Alor'ad Korbix... I have enough of the vod here... if we disable one of the smaller ships, I could orchestrate a... space-walk.">>

The single TIE remaining, and running, causing the big man's eyes to narrow some. Would he go on a suicide run to almost certain death? Maybe. Maybe not. Narsai would kill him if he got killed doing that. She'd extra kill him. She'd find out how to utilize Sith Alchemy (that Hadrix doesn't even know of) to bring him back, berate him, then just.. Kill hell out of him. The big man just knows she'd find a way to kick his shebs out through his mouth.

Kar's voice brings him back from his musings, head turning slightly, <"What?">

<"Buir, do we let it run?">

<"It's aruetii... Get rid of it and we move on.">

All four of the Mandalorians aboard the bridge issue their laugher, Greeza and Kar's lighter, Mir's the dry rasp of an old man and Pheegus's lowing warble of an Ithorian. All weapons opening up in a staggered fusillade that renders the fighter to atoms while the Gozanti turns towards the newly arriving ships.

<"I almost wish we could have brought the Resolve...">

Ascendancy Fleet (Yer'ok'omam)
The Chase turns it's massive guns upon the Corvette playing havoc among the TIE squadrons and finds the Ascendancy in position to screen the volley. "Helm, shift course point five degree starboard and engage full impulse engines. Engineering, cycle shield facings port on my mark." The Guns of the Imperial Cruiser errupt, with the massive Mon Cal Cruiser circling under the precise orders of their Captain.

Rather than hitting the starboard battery, the ship junks into the fresh cycled shield facing on the port side and deflects the turbolasers off rather than scoring a direct hit.

"Excellent work, Helm, Engineering. Weapons, track the firing solution on that cruiser. All guns."

"Another comm from the frigate was sent out before it was vaporized, Sir." Says the XO beside her, but the battle is pretty much in hand at this point. More of a mopping up action than an actual engagement. A nice change of pace, perhaps, from the last few battles, Roko nods to her XO and silences any jubilation that errupts out on the bridge (there's none on the Ascendancy) until every last Imperial has been destroyed or lept from system. "Turn all guns on the Destroyer. Harrass them until their hyperdrives begin to spool, then open comms fleet wide. Major, instruct Captain Di'arti that the Dark Star will act as relay for any fighters needing refit for the fleet." The transmissions are sent as the Ascendancy begins to turn away from the erupting wreckage that was the Comm Frigate so forward turbolaser guns can unload upon the Victory Class.

"Squadrons amass and engage in bombing runs. Notify squad leads to disengage after their initial payload deployment and prepare for reassignment to scouting missions while the Fleet assesses their losses." Another nod of acknowledgement from the XO, comms sent to the individual squad commanders as the Ascendancy's guns rock out in massive bursts of turbolaser fire along the shield face.

"Open fleet comms."

Major Lor'di'li points in her direction.

<"Their support crafts are in full retreat and the Cruiser will follow shortly. Excellent work, Captains. Pull fleet back into a defense pattern above Crait. Let them run."> The Ascendancy begins to lumber wide back toward Crait. After their attack runs, the remaining Ascendancy Squadrons break off in formation back towards the Ascendancy and Quasar, with the Corvette in defense at the rear.

Scarce minutes after the last Imperial ships had fled the Crait system, counting themselves *incredibly* fortunate, another Sith-flagged transponder blinks into being near the center of where the Imperial battle group had been, two hours prior. This is no mighty warship, nor even a brave but outgunned frigate; it is an Upsilon-class command shuttle. The shock of its pilot can only be imagined at what it finds.

Legacy (Jon Korbix)
With the remaining Imperial fleet leaving the system, the Rebels see victory and the bridge aboard the Legacy gets loud. A successful operation, but not without its losses. The Legacy complies with the flag ship's commands and they fall into formation.

When the Upsilon vessel entered the system, Jon's voice cut over comms. <<"Commander Kora, the second phase of Operation Iron Wall is a go. Special Forces is authorized to begin operations in the system. Good hunting.., Korbix out.">>

Kyr'am ra Kote (Hadrix Kora)
<<"Understood, Alor'ad. Engaging.">>

In another world. in another time. Meat is back on the menu boys.

<"Kar, get ready for further action. Maybe we can get ourselves a prize, 'lek?">

The boy in black in scarlet armor chuckles while the twi'lek and Ithorians piloting shift the smaller craft up to speed. Ready to make for one of the smaller support craft... or the planet if they manage to get away.

Legacy (Cin'cirad)
<<"Bingo, Iris, Legacy Actual. 3 from each of you, 6 hour shifts. Take it easy on the throttle, call if you need a top up. And Iris, make sure that Vapor is in that first batch.">> Sira waits to here the confirmation before flipping over to Egg, the Flight Control Officer, <<"Eegrill, you have 9 from each Squadron returning. Move three of each to the prep area, but not on a hurry.">> Another confirmation, then off to their Shistavanen Mechanic.

<<"Furs, you should be getting a few craft, re-arm and refuel them after you refuel the rest in case we need to launch again in a hurry.">> And then finally she's looking up and over toward Jon, her helmet actually swiveling in his direction.

<"Captain, all fighters accounted for. CAP scheduled. Zero fighter losses. Minor damage and one of the Y-wings needs yet another refit on an engine. And, well, another battle without a scratch."> She lets out a chuckle at that one as she turns to look out the window in the direction of Hadrix's ship. Holding up a hand even though there wasn't any real chance that he would see it from the bridge. She'd be sure to thank him later for the assistance.

Illumination Fleet (Ferr'ai'ovumlu)
Captain Raio frowns as he sinks back into his chair. He doesn't like allowing the Imperials to breathe and see another day. He'd much rather blow them all to smithereens. But fine. Fine.

"Next time." is said before the Chiss captain seems to finally be back into a semi-relaxed state. Raio is never really relaxed though.

And just like that, he's already got a datapad up and is looking for the next naval target. Like a dang machine.

Kyr'am ra Kote (Hadrix Kora)
<<"Alor'ad Ferr'ai'ovumlu... Prepare your ground equipment.">>

Hadrix's voice again on comms as the aggressive looking little ship continues on towards the planet of Crait,

<<"We will be continuing your education, I think.">>

A burst of laughter comes over comms while somewhere in the belly of the Gozanti, rebels begin gearing up to drop on the planet below.
