Log:The Ebon Guard: Breakout!
Breakout!
OOC Date: November 30, 2017
Location: Unknown Regions
Participants: Vraag Rengh, Narsai Ordo, Zandra naMuriel, Ayeeou Wanaii, Siha Archer, Barquo Dentoo, Ebon Guard
The best figure of how much time the Ebon Guard and Friends have been kept locked away in the low concrete room is three days. Perhaps the long wait with no change, other than the few loaves of bread tossed into the room for the prisoners to fight over, was an attempt to break the warriors' spirits... or maybe the powers that be had simply forgotten about their newest prisoners, given that they have so many.
Time continued to crawl, but the Guard had not been idle. Recovering the body of the fallen driver had been the first priority. Next had been the separating of the body parts for the scavenging of bones for weapons. Vraag had at least tried to shield the more delicate of the group from that process, hanging a sheet up to block out the sight while he carved up the body.
Weapons had been made, ground on the stone floor and sharpened before being handed out with instructions to hide the sharpened bones in sleeves or waist bands.'
Narsai had spent most of that time resting, recovering, meditating (or maybe just napping). She needed to recover from her injuries and be ready for the moment when they can make their move. Crossing her arms over her chest, the redhead hadn't taken part in the carving of the dead man, nor the sharpening of the weapons. Perhaps she was more delicate that she likes people to believe...or maybe she doesn't really didn't like the idea of using the bones of someone they couldn't save as a weapon.'
This is a learning experience for Zan, that's for sure. Having grown up on a family ship, she has certainly been no stranger to the closeness that this prison entails, but - there's definitely a surreal sense to this all. She may need a shrink once they get back to relative safety. If they do.
Giving her a weapon? Well, it might help. You never know. She does look at it a bit dubiously, but can in fact figure out that if there's trouble stick the pointy end in the bad guys. Hopefully it all works out. And she totally qualifies as one of the more delicate ones in the group. Right now, she's sitting on the bed, staring out at the door, as if willing it to open. Failing miserably.
It took young Ayeeou Wanaii quite some time before she really accepted their situation. At first, all she did was focus on those needing some medical assistance. Keeping her mind on specific tasks seemed to help her slowly come to grips with what had happened. She's still not handling it even a little well, but she's starting to handle it. Actually, Vraag cutting up the body didn't bother her as much as it might have some of the others. She even kind of mumbled a few things that he might do, like keeping the intestines to twist and dry for cord and saving any fat for lubricant. She and her fellow medical students apparently had some twisted conversations late at night when alcohol was involved. Otherwise, like Zan she spent a lot of time sitting quietly. Though, if any of the other prisoners needed help she could provide, she was willing.
Vraag stands, dusting his hands off on the front of his now blood stained shirt and pants. He heaves a sigh before covering up what is left of the body in the sheet and gesturing toward one of the hungry other prisoners who moves forward to drag the body away. Looking toward the others, Vraag says, "So Tominic told Zandra that soon the guards are likely to come to take us out to a meeting with the Gods. We'll have to plead our case as to why they should keep us alive, and then do our part to keep them entertained. If they like us, they will bring us back here so that we can continue to entertain them. If they don't, they will have us killed." He pauses a moment to let that sink in before he says, "I think that what we need to do is impress them enough that we can convince them for a face to face audience.... and then kill them."
"Entertain," Narsai repeats, shaking her head lightly. "We don't know what that means. It could be anything from dancing, telling jokes to killing for sport." A shift from where she sits, Narsai stretches out her limbs, bouncing lightly on the balls of her feet. "We may not get another chance at this, and even if we do we don't know where they're keeping our armor, or the Princess for that matter. How many of our number are ready to face down armed guards without a weapon, or with a shiv?" A pause, she glances at Vraag. "I'll back your attempt, whatever is decided between all of us, but it's going to be a hard fight regardless. We could always attempt to break out, set the prisoners loose and move in the confusion. It depends what 'suprise' attack puts the odds better in our favor."
Zan listens to the conversation, and she says, "Honestly, I am not wanting to stay here and become one of those - nearly dead. It- there's no dignity, it's not right. Whoever is doing this needs to pay for it." There's a fierce anger there, which might be all that is keeping Zan going truthfully. "I won't promise to be good at it, but I'm willing to try." The poor trader is a lousy combatant, but you never know. She might surprise even herself yet.
There's a look on Yee's face that says she has no idea how to entertain the sorts of people who keep others locked up like this. Some naivete there, of course. Hey, it's not like she's Twi'lek. She looks at Narsai as she lists some things, and replies "I don't do any of those... Can't we see if they'll take ransom? Can we pay for our freedom? Can we split the reward for the princess with them?" Who knows, right?
Vraag shakes his head before he says, "I don't think they would take a share of the reward for the princess as payment, since they were brave enough to kidnap her in the first place." He shakes his head and can only shrug before he says, "There are just too many variables that we don't know. We don't know who these people are, or what they want, or what we can even do. I think for now all we can do is try to stay alive and turn the situation to our favor as soon as we can."
Vraag eventually moves and lays down on one of the small bunk beds, his seven foot, three hundred pound frame dwarfing the bed and causing the mattress to sag down beneath the bottom bunk slightly. There is a grumpy sort of growl from him at the lack of support but he doesn't move from his spot. Time passes at a crawl, and what could be several hours later the heavy locking mechanism of the door is slammed open, and the door is pulled open. Two guards rush in with shock prods, zapping away at the nearest prisoners as they clear a path to the Ebon Guard bunks. "It's time. Come with us. Now!" They brandish those shock prods threateningly, gesturing for the Guard to go toward the hallway, where an escort group waits, similarly armed.
For the moment, Narsai will play along. Grudgingly it seems. She'd been a hostage before, even if that was as a plant to trojan horse her foes, but this was different; she wasn't alone and fighting at the wrong moment could get others killed. That didn't mean she wasn't tempted to try and shove those shock prods up the rear of the escort group. "Give me thirty seconds with one of them," she murmers under her breath, "I'll find out where they're keeping our toys..."
Zan's eyes go wide and she goes a bit pale as the guards come in with those shock prods. There is a wince as they are liberally used on the poor prisoners who have the misfortune to be near the door. Makes her even more glad they currently have bunks. She keeps her hands where they are easily seen, as she gets to her feet, not wanting to get zapped on the way. Or ever, if she can help it. "Here we go," she mutters, more trying to ease her own nerves than anything. Her gaze flicks to all the others, making sure everyone is on their feet and not left behind.
When Vraag replies about the princess, Ayeeou nods to him and quiets again. She's quiet until and as those men come in to get them, doing her best not to draw more attention from them than absolutely necessary. She shrinks in on herself somewhat, but it's not as though she can avoid going with them. She'll stay very close to the others, of course
Siha Archer is up. Is. Up. Siha wheezes out a hoarse cough as she uses the wall her cot is against to push up, a hand waving lightly at the guards, "Yeah, yeah, use your sticks to show me how lame you are, asshats." She thinks she gets these words out loudly, but they're hoarse whispery wheezes, Siha using a hand gesture to get the general gist across as she limps along to follow along with the others.
Siha had been in these situations before, sure, but holy bananas, it never gets any easier. Shuffling in alongside of Zan, Siha will continue to murmur 'okay, okay, okay', not unlike Stitch does when Nina tells him to talk in Lilo and Stitch. Maybe she'll get shot at like he did.
Vraag nods his head toward Narsai as the Ebon Guard makes it into the hallway, his own pace slowing enough that he can allow Ayeeou, Zandra, and Siha to step in front of him. He walks between them, as if to shield the three from the rear of their escort group with his giant frame. His eyes are constantly scanning the hallway as they walk, the corridor made of stone and extremely cold on the prisoners' bare feet. Guards are posted in the hallway in scattered and mostly random intervals, at least that is how it appears. When Vraag feels like it has been a suitable amount of time away from the last posted guard, Vraag blows out a sharp whistle and yells, "Now!" Jerking the shiv from his sleeve, he turns rapidly to the right, attempting to stab the nearest guard in the throat.
Well, time to strike. Narsai had already refused to take one of the bone weapons, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to go unarmed. As the others leap into the frey Narsai unfurls the strip of cloth that had been one of her bandages, snaring it around one of the guard's arms before twisting and yanking sideways. The popping sound of the the joint makes it pretty clear that would have hurt.
Siha Archer is ..completely unprivvy to this plan of attacking the guards. Completely. The woman is so out of it and sick from her wounds that she's been doing a lot of sleeping. And using the toilet. So when Vraag yells attack she goes purely on muscle memory, having been in these situations as inferred before. Only this time she's weak. So she turns to one of the guards and smacks his chest, which ends up more like a grope, and she'll pat it a few times with all the strength she can muster, grunting deeply which dissolves into a series of wheezing coughs that has her leaning into the guard with her hand as she doubles over, some blood coughed up between their feet, "Oh ..hells bells ..you've got strong pecs." Hack.
Oh sure, easy for Vraag to say. Zan has never even tried to hit someone with anything, short of play wrestling with her siblings, and even that wasn't so much, given she's petite. But - she is angry, and this is a mess, and that stitching up with thread from the sheets bloody well hurt so Zan tries to use that weapon with everything in her. Alas, she totally misses, misjudging her attack by a mile.
Yee does have one of the bone shivs. Not that she was certain that she's be able to bring herself to try to use it. On the other hand, she's not a dumb girl. If this fails, they're probably all dead. There's just no choice when he signals to go, but to pull it and try. Badly. Very, very badly. She misses. By a lot. Chances are, she's never tried to hurt another creature before in her entire life. The only way she's hurting the guard nearest her is if he get hiccups from laughing too hard.
Vraag's attack misses easily, apparently the big man isn't as at himself as he had thought he'd be given the days without food. He doesn't try again with the bone shiv, as he uses that hand to bat away the stabbing electrical prod, but rather steps inside the reach of that prod and snaps his head forward with ill intent. The angle of his headbutt coming from his height and with the weight of the three hundred pound man behind it as it smashes into the escort's nose is enough to shatter the poor man's nose and send blood flying. The man stumbles backward and slides down the wall, holding his nose in pain. "Get him!" Vraag yells toward Ayeeou, Zandra, or Siha, whichever is most handy to dispatch the fallen man, while Vraag himself turns for one of the more capable fighters still standing.
There's a sound of air rushing out of her foes lungs, Narsai had obviously disregarded the fallen man to continue her attack on the guy she'd tangled. Stepping back from the man she's lost her cloth-strip, but now? The redhead Mandalorian woman was clutching the man's electro-prod. Giving the weapon an experimental twirl, she grins and leaps in. Hopefully she can press this advantage before he knows what the hell is going on.
Siha Archer is just not having a good week. After groping the guard, instead of stabbing him, she once again tries but is zapped and falls to her knees with a grunting groan, a heavier cough done. On her hands and knees she attacks the only thing she can, the toes of the mans boot, stabbing down with her finger bone shiv onto his no doubt metal reinforced boots. But stab away she will while coughing at those boots. Die, boots, die!
Zan is totally lost, but as Vraag calls out instructions, she moves to try what he said. Her attention goes to the guy Vraag has head butted, and she darts in his direction. Her aim? Get that stunprod out of his hot little hands! Seems she and Narsai have an idea in common, though they probably neither one realize it yet. Zan's shiv grazes her target's arm, but doesn't do any real damage. So close! Course, Zan's eyes are a little wide, a little wild, and there's a near perpetual startled look on her face right about now.
The guard that Ayeeou... let's call it 'attacked' in a feeble effort to spare her dignity, did not hurt himself laughing as she might have liked. No, though there was a different sort of laughter as he reacted with his prod, shocking the Nautolan in the side. Not the side that took the blaster hit at least, but that whole part of her body was already weak. She shrieks again, and drops to her knees. No help will be found there.
From the back of the cave where they were being kept comes a low shout. Bark has finally regained conciousness from the hit on his head he received on the way in. He comes charging out of the cave looking like he is about to tackle one of the gaurds... he promptly slips on a slick bit of ice on the floor and lands on his chest just to the side of the guard instead letting out a low groan.
With all of the fury of the growing melee going on, Vraag has no time to mark what Zandra's success is looking like with the man he head butted. As Barquo comes out with a wild yell and goes sliding across the floor, Vraag takes the moment of distraction to use it to his advantage. He springs across the sliding computer slicer, wrapping the distracted escort up in his arms and lifting him from his feet. Vraag allows his momentum to carry them both directly into the hallway wall, the poor escort's body crushed between the wall and Vraag's three hundred pound mass. Vraag releases his hold on the man as he crumples to the ground and calls out, "Another!" before turning to the next in line of the remaining three standing.
Narsai has a weapon in her hands, one not made out of human remains or poor quality cloth. Perhaps that's why she's currently beating the crap out of the man she took it from. Smacking the shock-prod against the first man's kneecap to make him fall, she twists and brings the weapon down on his head before stepping over his twitching form towards one of the remaining men. Voltage crackles as she gives the weapon another little twirl and holds it out threateningly. Alright, so after getting shot and robbed, forced to witness canibalism...she was enjoying this little payback.
Siha Archer collapses down as she's zapped again, turning onto her back, her little finger knife given a toss away, "Okay, I'm done." She'll murmur, coughing and hacking out a few times as both hands cross over her chest, a deep breath, wracked with coughs, taken in, her dark grey eyes looking up at the ceiling as she listens to the group fight around her, "Lemme know ...how I can help." Wheeze.
Zan is at least sort of keeping the one guy busy? Maybe? She's not hurting him, but she did manage with a loud squeak to miss getting zapped. somehow. "Stop that," she growls at him. "And stay still, will you? You are making this harder than it needs to be!" She tries again to disarm him, but is having a very difficult time of it, given well - she's clueless. This time, the shiv manages to strike home. It's not quite exactly where she was aiming, but there's an artery where that shiv hits, and well - it's a hit. Zan staggers back, staring in shock.
The slicer groans as he rolls over on his back his arm flailing and just missing the guards legs on it's way down. He blinks and swings his arm back to his chest once missing the guard as he rubs his chest. He flops both of his arms over his head and the guard steps down toward Barquo's feet lauging at the prostrate man. Barquo finally blinks some of the daze out of his eyes looking at the guard standing by his knees. The slicer frowns and kicks him in the knee and the man comes down face first into the rockface with a wet thud.
Vraag turns rapidly on the spot, his big feet thudding as he revolves in place as if looking for more bad guys to punch or headbutt. Seeing none left, he gestures for Narsai to get to the man Barquo knocked down, while Vraag himself moves quickly toward Ayeeou and Siha. He bends, grasping each gently by the shoulders in turn and helping to lift them up to their feet and get them to the wall where they can have a bit of help as they stand upright. Looking toward Zandra, he gestures toward Ayeeou and says, "Do you think you can help her walk? I don't know how long it will take the electrical charge to leave her muscles. Barquo, think you can help Siha? We have to keep moving before a guard finds them and realizes we're out. We have to move quickly."
Siha Archer whoa's softly as she's lifted up by her shoulder, a sidelong glance given to Vraag with some disbelief, "Holy taters, you're strong." She manages in a wheeze, walking to the wall with the man and standing there with her shoulder against it. Grey eyes look to Barquo, a hand raising up, "I do not bite." A hoarse promise, the pale olive skinned woman promises softly, "I can even like ..get drug behind you on a string. Whatever works."
Zan turns that wild eyed expression to Vraag, looking a bit startled. She remembers at the last second to grab the stunprod thing, looks at it, and shrugs. Might help, right? "Yes," she says simply. Well, she can only do her best, but she's willing to try. She moves over to Yee, offering a hand, a shoulder, whatever the Nautolan is most comfortable leaning on. "C'mon, Yee. We need to get moving.”
It didn't take much convincing when Narsai had a shock batton crammed in his face, but that doesn't mean the answers the thug gives the redhead were what she wanted to hear. Sighing, the woman slaps the handle of her weapon against the face of the man and stands, stretching her limbs out and giving a little bounce on her feet. Damn had it felt good to fight back after all that sitting and waiting. "Good news and bad news," she speaks to the others. "Our gear is with the 'gods'. I know the way, but who knows if they're armed in there. We're going to want to be sneaky or fast and overwhelming if we go in there. They could have blasters...or -our- blasters."
To call what Yee is doing 'standing' is generous, once Vraag gets her up. She gets to the wall and works very hard on holding it up without sliding down it while the rest make their plans. She looks like she's trying not to throw up, not that she has anything in her stomach. Then she needs to shift some to lean on Zandra instead, and manages it with much effort and zero poise.
The slicer gets up and pops his neck quickly. "I'm sure I could help out. I'm a little dazed myselvf but I suhould be able to carry you. Nothings wrong with the body just wrong with the noggin." he leans down and lifts Siha up supporting her armpit under his shoulder.
Vraag listens to what Narsai has to say, taking a moment to tuck his sharpened bone shiv back into his sleeve, then bends to pick up one of the discarded shock batons. "Alright, I vote for fast and overwhelming. Narsai, since you know the way, you go in front. Then I want Barquo and Siha, next Zandra and Ayeeou. I'll bring up the rear and try to knock away any pursuit. Let's move as fast as we can guys. I am sure that a patrol will be through here at any time."
The going is relatively silent and without opposition as they start out on their trip. They make it to the end of their current corridor and are moving along the next when out of a side passage steps a Guard. The man looks to be armed with only an electrical prod, same as the Ebon Guard's escort group had.
"Lets just try not to get shot this time," Narsai murmers, looking back over her shoulder at the injured members of their number and then down at her shock-probe. "I very much doubt these things can block blaster fire." With that, she moves towards the lead, not even bothering for subtle when the guard rounds the corner. They can't have him sounding the alarm just yet after all!
Zan is not really able to fight, which is probably good. She's helping Yee, and not 100% herself. "C'mon, Yee. stick with us," she murmurs, trying to help the Nautolan if she can. Maybe? Hopefully. She does try to move Yee out of Vraag's way in case the big guy is going to step up, once she realizes there's a guard. Ahead of them. Blocking their way. But there's also this nice cozy cold wall to lean against and make sure it doesn't cave in on those fighting.
Barq pays more attention to his charge than to where they are going, so when they round the corner and spy a guard with a stun stick his grow wide with shock and he tries to carry Siha as quietly as possible. He gestures to his boss about the person in front.
As Narsai moves quickly for the guard that steps into their corridor, the man doesn't have time to dodge that swinging electrical prod. It catches him square in the throat and down he goes to twitch on the floor. He watches soundlessly, save for a few reflexive gurgles as his muscles spasm and prevent him from really calling out for help or in pain.
Vraag calls out quietly from the back, "Keep moving, everyone. Just keep going, hurry." As he passes the twitching and spasming man on the ground, he aims a heavy kick directly into the man's face before he hurries along in the wake of the rest of his group.
The group of prisoners find no more soldiers in between them and the turbo lift that Narsai's information said would lead to the god's. The button lights to gleam in a falsely cheery yellow light as the turbo lift begins to head toward them, and the seconds seem to stretch out into an hour as the group waits for pursuit to come after them at any moment. The door of the turbo lift hisses open, allowing them to step inside, and as soon as the last person steps inside, the lights in the corridor outside blacken, lit by own the emergency lights that blaze into life. A siren begins to wail, signaling men down. Not waiting to see what else will happen, Vraag reaches out and slaps the button for the top floor and the doors of the turbo lift slide shut before the lift launches upwards.
The slicer leans against the wall of the turbolift once he pulls Siha inside. Barq blinks and slowly his eyes become a little less glossed over as they start to scan the surroundings. As the lights in the corridor go out he says plainly "Lets hope wherever we're going isn't as bad as where we've been."
Zan keeps one arm around Yee helping her as much as she can, as they make their way along the corridor. That split second rest while Narsai totally owned the guard didn't help much. Mostly just made anything tired or achy hurt more. But there's still that hint of anger that Zan has, pushing her to keep going. When/if she gets to safety, she's going to freak out. For a month. She helps Yee get to the lift, and into it, bringing Yee to stand by one of the walls.
"Well," Narsai murmers as she regards the stunprod that she'd been getting a lot of use out of and leans against the wall of the turbo-lift, looking about the others. "Guess they found the others. Hopefully we've still got a little suprise on our side. I mean, who'd be crazy enough to go running right at the people in charge, right?" she questions. It -was- an attempt at humor, just not a great one.
As the Turoblift climbs, the trip seems to take far longer than it should, the vibration of the car moving able to be felt through the floor and walls. The doors his open once the car has stopped, and thankfully the lights are not turned off. Large windows allow natural light to stream in from outside, and there across from the open turbo lift door sits two large thrones. Of more interest is the people that sit atop the thrones, or more appropriately.... the children. Two children of around twelve sit atop the thrones, their skin paper white, with jeweled crowns sitting atop their head. They watch the group, blinking in surprise, while off in a corner a woman is huddled on the floor and crying softly to herself.
