Saber Leader (Jax Greystorm)
Saber Squadron has just appeared in orbit and moved to provide protection for the Bright Blessing. The large action IV was moving towards the planet below.
Jax opens up com channels on Squad channel, "Alright guys, no one loves us on this particular mission. That being said, don't open fire until we're shot at especially at the First Order Ships. We're here on a peace keeping mission. Keep you're eyes and ears open. It will probably get hot quick. Saber 11 is always to blame. Saber leader out."
The arrival of the Bright Blessing does draw the attention of both side of the conflict. A Crips Imperial accent is broadcasted across the com, "Unidentified Cruiser and fighter Escort, this is First Order Space. Please leave now or be considers hostile and we will open fire."
Jax shakes his head, "This is Jax Greystorm, Jedi Knight and Saber Leader, we are here for Refugee evacuation and in the name of peace. We will not be opening fire except for self defense and are not looking for a fight."
The Crisp Voice returns, "Understood Jedi Knight, First Order Forces will not engage as long as you stick to your mission parameters. We will not protect you."
A squadron of Tie Daggers escorting a small group of Tie bombers begin to head toward the force giving the Sith Fleets response.
Saber 10 (Nerys Greystorm)
Saber 10 "I leave the galaxy alone for one day, and this is what happens." So Spake Saber 10, as the A-wing moved into formation in a defensive position just forward of the Bright Blessing, the Action IV freighter transport they had been tasked with escorting down to the surface of Thyferra. Not a particularly easy task, what with the Sith and First Order trading blows, and the madcap dash of ships in and out trying either to escape the war or to capitalize on it. But then, you didn't bring in Saber Squadron for the easy missions. "I blame Saber 11 for poor vacation planning."
As the freighter with her escort moved through the system what warfare has been taking place in the skies above the planet appeared to have fallen into a lull. Surely the force would be kind today and grant them a reprieve.
Surely.
Saber 05 (Zandra naMuriel)
Zandra, in Saber 5, chuckles at the gentle teasing on the comm. She's in position in her own fighter, not an A wing which still boggles her mind at times. However, she does have an astromech with her, which may be a good thing depending on how the mission goes. Certainly, Zan's repair skills might still leave a bit to be desired. "Wait, you get a vacation?" she replies, amusement obvious. "Lucky you." She keeps her gaze on sensors, as she continues to fly in position by the Bright Blessing, keeping an eye out as well as she can for any incoming traffic.
Saber 08 (Merek)
Saber 08 hyperspaces along right into the system, and begins forming up on the Saber Leader. Merek comlinks to the squad, "08 House here, I am on your flank leader. Flying defensive," he offers, while he takes the time to begin adjusting the s-foils to expand, shields lifting up to protect the fighter.
Saber 11 (Kael Greystorm)
Kael lounges as much as one can lounge in an X-Wing (you can't) as he exits hyperspace, "Do you think they make a big and tall version of this cockpit?" As he maneuvers into formation with the rest of the Saber Squadron he looks around the other ships, then blinks a bit... "Hey wait... I'm to blame? I've been behaving! I've only shot a few people recently." As the TIE Daggers and Bombers begin heading towards their force he just sighs... "Never goes easy does it?"
Saber 07 (Karas Darkwing)
Karas cruises in within his ETA-2c, the speedy fighter moves with a deadly grace as comes out of hyper space. Forming up with his wingmate, Karas yawns a little though making sure his comms were turned off. As he listens to the others speak, he perks up with Jax gives them mission parameters, <<Copy that Saber Lead.>> he says as he gets ready. "Alright Spark, it's that time again."
Saber Leader (Jax Greystorm)
The Sith Tie Daggers comes screaming in as there heavy lasers go blasting through Saber Squadron's formation. They don't hit any of the Squadron but it sends the Jedi's Squadron in evasive maneuvers. The Tie Bombers making for a tight run for the Bright Blessing.
The channel crackles as the Bright Blessing's Com officer calls out, "Multiple Target locks from the Tie bombers."
Jax was dueling with a Tie Dagger, "Alright Squad listen up, We're taking out the Bombers." He says sending a couple of shots into one of the Tie Daggers and then changing course. "Stay alive out there."
Saber 10 (Nerys Greystorm)
As the daggers moved to engage the fighters, Saber 10 broke away from the party. Instead, the dumpy little ship made to engage the equally dumpy looking TIE bombers, Nerys maneuvering the ship in her usual fashion, which was in such a way as to line her up for the best shot with very little forethought for flying defensively. She didn't fight for defense on the ground, no reason to start now. "Contact with one of the bombers, looks like it's shields are still holding, though."
Saber 05 (Zandra naMuriel)
Zandra's sensors pick up the bogeys along with everyone else, no doubt. "I see them, Bubbles," she says with a nod that nobody can see. Evasive flying is the first order of business - no, not that first order. "Roger lead, targetting the bombers. Saber 10, on your six." Zan's s foils are clicked into place as she guns the throttle and sends her eta zipping after the A wing. As she flies, she reaches for the Force, trying to get a target lock of her own, but either way, she's ready on that trigger to let her lasers fly as the reticule flashes green. Her shots strike true, Bubbles sharing info with her and the other Saber fighters. "Shields are down, and sensors reading light hull damage. Nice shooting Saber 10!"
Saber 11 (Kael Greystorm)
Saber 11 twists into a rotation bringing the ship up and aiming at some of the Daggers, "Going to strafe the Daggers on the way to the Bombers can't let them have a free ride." His S-foils lock into attack position as the solo X-Wing's lasers pew pew into the wild black yonder deftly missing the agile Daggers but forcing at least one other to no longer have full freedom of movement.
Saber 08 (Merek)
Merek's Saber 08 manages to avoid what seems to be oncoming laser fire, only for him to really trade back with the pilot of another ship. That doesn't look like it's doing a lot, but at least he is still on the skies.
Saber 07 (Karas Darkwing)
Seeing the fighters coming in towards them, he glances at the First Order ship that is orbiting nearby. He shakes his head as he looks sensors as he flips the switch to open his S-Foils. As the S-Foils snap into the open position, <<May the Force be with us. I don't hear you guys sayign that much anymore.>> he says into his comms. Quickly pushing the throttles forward, Spark pings a few of the Tie Daggers, "Been a while since we fought these, we know thier parameters, let's go take'em on." he says as Spark tootles. A smile shows on his face, though that smile fades as he targets one of the Daggers and fires, the Dagger dodges, and as he is about to break to go after it, Karas hears orders to go after the Bombers, <<Copy that Saber Lead.>> as he blasts past towards the bombers.
Saber Leader (Jax Greystorm)
The Tie Bombers come angling in for an attack run and full spreads of photon torpedoes rock the Bright Blessing and Saber Squadrons cockpits light up as there's an explosion. Then as it dies back down the Bright Blessing is still there. The com officer voice crackling on channel, "Dunno if we can take many more of those. The Capital ship grade shield generator is not liking that. The Engineer told me to share that with you and not the rest."
Jax is targeting the Tie Bombers like the rest of the Squadron and missing. "Where do they find these guys?"
Saber 10 (Nerys Greystorm)
"And you, Saber 5! Nice to have you on my wing." As Nerys picked up support from Zandra and the rest of the squadron, having followed Jax's order to focus on the bombers, she wheeled around to try to get another (she hoped) decent angle on the bomber she had already targeted. Likely not the best idea as the bomber managed a solid hit on her hull, but Nerys failed to return hit, "Shields are hit, but I'm still standing!" Clearly. "Should we all take out the bombers by flying into them?" These are the things one suggested when they were not flying their own ship.
Saber 05 (Zandra naMuriel)
Zan grins as the first round seems to work okay, with her and Nerys tag teaming. She dodges the incoming Dagger fire like it's not there, flipping into a roll and targetting the same bomber one more time. "Let's focus fire and clear them out. These bombers obviously have to go," she agrees with Saber Lead. "Maybe, Nerys, but I am not sure we want to test the hospitality of the forces fighting in this system. Probably not a good call that one." She does try again, but is too distracted to reach the force, appropriately. She does fire her lasers, but with no luck this time. "I mean if I were in that bomber pilot's shoes, i'd be pulling out all the stops to not get shot again." She promptly spins her ship to go back and fire again.
Saber 07 (Karas Darkwing)
"Ok that didn't go well, damn Tie Daggers are fast." he says. Spark snickers. Pushing the yoke forward causing his fighter to dive at an angle, he wasn't going head to head with the bombers. Leveling out and pulling back hard on the yoke, the -2c climbs, and he sees the bombers, what he doesn't notice is a Dagger taking a shot and rolling his fighter, he is hit hard, Karas jostles a bit in his cockpit and he fires a shot at the bomber causing the shot to go wide. "Krif." he says. He hears the suggestions. <<Alright.>>
Saber 11 (Kael Greystorm)
Saber 11 does a roll as the Dagger comes in blasting pew pews at it and Kael looks over to the other pilot and winks blowing them a kiss before he slides his X-Wing around lining up one of the bombers instead of another run on the Dagger his lasers pew pew pewing striking the poor ship blasting the aggressive pilot out of the black, "Scratch one."
Saber 08 (Merek)
Merek keeps trading the salvo with the pilots of the TIEs, not making a lot of progress, though he seems to be managing to not get his fighter hit by the cannons. The man takes the time to comlink, "I am going to see what I can do to assist with maneuvering," he notes, then he's adjusting the flight path.
Saber Leader (Jax Greystorm)
The destruction of a tie bomber doesn't seem to cause any change in the members of his flight. The tie bombers just keep on coming firing another round of torpedoes. Two of the Bombers striking home along the hull of the Bright Blessing. Saber Squadron's targeting computers would reveal the Bright Blessings shields were dipping in the red. Though it should already be dead, maybe the Force and that surplus Capital Ship grade shield generator was with them.
Jax twists and turns as he flying around the hull of the Bright Blessing pushing the jedi fighter to it's limit making the Tie Dagger chase him. He comes around the Action IV's top like he skimming along the back of a great sea creature. He draws sights on one of the Tie Bombers. "Seventy start plotting a jump out of here." The little Astromech beeps in compliance, "Alright Sabers we got one more shot at this. The bombers will be in photon bomb range any moment. Let's show them we're the best squadron the Republic ever had and May the Force be with us." Then Jax opens fire with his rotary laser canons striking true causing the Bomber to explode.
Saber 10 (Nerys Greystorm)
The Force. Despite her familial connection, it was hard to believe in something affecting you that you could not affect yourself. And so, as nerys wheeled around, trading fire, but no hits with the bomber she was targeting, she simply gave up believing in anything, and allowing herself to picture what she always pictures. Just getting to the next screen. She fired and then vectored away, her fire impacting the hull, her movement leaving the bomber open for the rest of the wing.
Saber 05 (Zandra naMuriel)
"Good shooting, Lead!" Zan calls as a bomber gets blown up. She is flying as if nobody is shooting at her or at least that's what it looks like. The eta fighter is dodging any enemy fire coming its way almost before the shots are fired on this day. "Still with you, Saber 10," she reports, following Nerys' lead. Though she may be was inspired by Jax's show of transport skimming, as she uses the debris of the bomber that Jax blew up to disguise her approach vector and perhaps tangle up sensors a bit, though certainly she'll tangle up visual readings. There's a quietness to her voice now as she concentrates. She smiles as she sees Nerys' shots setting her up, and as her fighter screams through the cover provided by rapidly escaping space debris, her finger hits the trigger, a Bomber in her crosshairs as she lets fly, finishing up the job that Nerys started. The bomber's hull is smashed and it explodes, as Saber 05 switches direction. "Think we're getting out of here, Bubbles. Punch in the co-ords."
Saber 11 (Kael Greystorm)
Rotating the X-Wing around to try and take out the last of the bombers, Kael glances back at the Dagger coming in behind him, "Oh dear I've got a friend. Break! Can I keep it? I promise to feed and water it." All the while he's corkscrewing around dodging the laser fire from the Dagger, before he slips the Bomber back into his sights toggling the ship's lasers at it, "Guess we should prep a vector out of here."
Saber 08 (Merek)
Saber 08 eventually manages to avoid a laser, then it comes about with the laser cannons, striking into shields of the TIE, managing. Then Merek's adjusting the flight path so that he can follow with the team, while he prepares the astrogation.
Saber 07 (Karas Darkwing)
Karas doesn't have access to the Force but seeing the Jedi work, and beign around them more when on missions, he's always believed in the Force. Moving his control yoke forward, though as he does laser fire spatters off the rest of his shields and now he's smoking as a few stray shots damages the hull, tottling loudly at him, "Yeah Spark I know, Vega is going to kick the kriff out of me." he says as he rolls his fighter but as he does, he loops his fighter and brings the nose of his fighter on the back of the bomber and he rolls his fighter sending red energy lances towards the bomber, watching it detonate, "Spark splash 1, enter secondary coordinates." he says to his astromech, and get our shields up.
Saber Leader (Jax Greystorm)
With the destruction of the Tie Bomber Flight, the Bright Blessings able to slip into the atmosphere of Thyferra. "Bright Blessing making orbit. If you would Saber Squadron keep the Tie Dagger occupied. We would appreciate some racket when it's time to leave."
Jax smiles as he sees the large transport slip into the clouds below not sure what it will find, "Sure thing Bright Blessings. May the Force be with you." The large ship left to survive below.
The Tie Daggers choosing to remain engaged with Saber Squadron wanting to win favor by shooting down a jedi. Jax calls out on coms, "What we're here for Trigger. Alright Saber Squad. Let's pretend we're interested in taking these Daggers to the dance and then we turn and scoot. Scatter like a covey of game birds. I know I'm being a tease. I'll buy drinks on Mos Espa. May the Force be with you."
Saber 11 (Kael Greystorm)
Saber 11 starts to spin as he's heading towards the Daggers laughing a bit on the comms, "Always down for a drink." He straightens up as he pushes the throttle forward like he's getting ready to engage before the R2 in the socket behind him beeps, "Oh it's that time?" He offers a wave towards the Daggers blowing them another kiss as his S-Foils close and the X-Wing leaps into hyperspace.
