Reflections and Interludes

OOC Date: January 16, 2016
Location: Ilum
Participants: Rax Vaelus, Oriana, Galak Varga, Miz Viasco, Kirk Novastar

The Interceptor is cold. But preparations for the journey to Ilum included bringing winterized clothing, so it's likely unnoticable as the ship rockets into hyperspace. Gray steel, black walls. Red highlights. Typical 'evil Empire' flavoring. Rax Vaelus himself has been taciturn about the mission, but now that they are enroute, he swivels around in his command chair and descends to the main area. Galak he contacted through advertisements for a pilot and mercenary. Oriana, he already knew. Miz... Miz is the wild card. 'Scavenger'. So the copper-haired, lightning-eyed human looks over this last person carefully as he descends into the common area. "Thank you all for coming. You will be compensated at journey's end."

Oriana had needed to get away, do something different, just right out distract herself. Sure the past week or so has been hard but, well she made it. And for that, here she is on this rag-tag adventure. She'd of come board with some warm gear, but her vabrosword and blaster were with her. Having gone into the kitchen a cup of coffee would have been made, well a pot, brought out and put on the table. Her cup, filled to the brim is held in both hands as if she were to take a sip of some delicious coco. But coffee is not coco nor is it delicious. The sip makes her cringe some, still having a distaste for the brew. Looking into it's black depths she frowns and brings it up for another sip as if forcing herself to drink it. When Rax comes down he gets a glance in greeting. She'll sit there and listen for now.

Galak rests back in one of the chairs, his feet extended out in front of him and his head leaning back against the headrest. His eyes had been closed prior to Rax coming down to join them, but as the man began speaking, they were open and alert, showing that he was not near sleep. He has a thick coat and matching winter pants on over his armor and his blaster rifle is leaning agains the wall beside his chair. Rax's statement gains a nod from Galak and he says, "So what exactly are we doing?"

Miz just stands. He's always standing. It's much easier to do what he does best when he's standing: Run. He's tucked away on the side, though, to make sure that he's not in anyone's way. Wild Card? Yeah. That's pretty much one slick way to put it. He's got nothing more than his backpack strapped to his back. He fiddles with his scavenger gloves as he listens to the words that Rax drops. "If you payin', I'm stayin'." Sounds like Miz is pretty sure he's down with whatever this is. He doesn't even know details but the word compensation is always good to hear. He kind of looks around at the others but there's not exactly any expression on his face about anyone. He's just looking to be looking.

Rax Vaelus says, "We're traveling to a lost world, which shall remain nameless. We're looking for special crystals... They look like this..." Opening his gloved hand, two halves of what was once a single blue crystal rest upon his palm. "They be larger or smaller, cut or uncut. I do not know. But I am looking for one. I will pay you our agreed-upon price, regardless of the outcome... But the rewards grow considerably, depending on what we find." Closing the glove, he shakes it once, nodding as he does, "I honestly have no idea what kinds of dangers might be down there...if any. The elements alone may be our only foe. But stay alert, regardless." He glances off to the side, "Legends say the Force is strong in this place."

Oriana isn't slumped in her chair, there is this undertone to her, she has this poise and slight grace like a background noise one can't avoid hearing. Both hands gripping the cup her fingers slowly drum up and down it as Rax talks, big brown eyes flickering to the others in the group every now and then. The one she doesn't know is Miz, but right not isn't exactly the moment for introduction. Bringing up a hand and rubbing at one of her lightly freckled cheeks she tries to stifle a yawn, which goes well enough with another sip of that awful drink she is trying to hard to like. "I'm a fair hand with a blaster my sword and hand to hand, if trouble comes up. Hell, I'll fashion a bomb together if we need it to."

Galak Varga doesn't attempt to talk himself up. He knows that no one here has yet seen him in a pinch and he likely wants it to be a surprise. "So our mission is to journey to a planet we don't know the name of to look for some crystals that we don't know a thing about? That's my dream job!" The grin on Galak's face shows that he is kidding. He crosses his right ankle over his left out in front of him and he says, "How many crystals are we trying to find? Or how big? Just whatever we can get our hands on?"

Miz is pretty quiet now because he's focused on the crystal as much as he could be. He practically memorizes the way the crystal looks and is shaped just so that he knows what he's looking for when he gets to the place that they have no idea where they are going. Or well, he has no idea. He's pretty sure the person that hired him is going to make sure they get to their needed destination. "I'll find whatever I can." And then the Scavenger in Miz comes out. "Question? What if we find stuff that ain't those crystals? Finder's Keepers?"

Rax Vaelus holds up a couple fingers, "Preferably two. Blue. But, really, I'm willing to take what I can get. If we get a handful, we can probably sell them for a quite a lot of credits...if you can find a buyer. But..." He glances aside, out a viewport at the whirling blue of hyperspace, "...This place has been abandoned for a long, long time."

Eyeing Miz, Rax is silent for several long moments before nodding, "...Within reason. But I would like to know what you find. I may offer you more than the market will bear, after all. And far less chance of you being straight-up murdered for it with two witnesses here." He grins, "Better odds than Nar Shaddaa."

Kicked back, Galak places his hands behind his head and watches the interplay between Miz and Rax. When Rax mentions being willing to kill for whatever they might find wherever they are going, he says, "Well, this just got interesting." He leans forward and looks Miz up and down from head to toe and then places a hand beside his mouth as if to shield what he is saying from Rax, though when he speaks it is loud enough for all to hear, "Don't worry, I think you can take him!"

Miz shrugs like he's not exactly worried about any sort of altercation. "Hey, sounds good." Miz's gloved hands go up and show that he has no tricks up his barely there sleeves. "Hey, no trouble. I'm just a Scavenger. I'm just here to find whatever needs to be found, get paid and dropped back off on Nar Shaddaa." Miz makes this next statement very clear: "... Alive."

Turning her head Oriana eyes Galak and then smirks. That's funny, she even chuckles some. She would look to the crystals and then to Miz as he speaks up, and then her eyes move to fix on Rax as he replies. All in all, she doesn't have much else to add at this moment.

Rax Vaelus grins at Miz, then Galak. "Don't worry... I pay well. I only murder those who betray me." As alarms sound through the ship, he looks up, his expression going dead serious. Neutral. Maybe worried? "...We're here." He nods aside, looking at Galak, "You're up, Ace. Bring us in."

Glancing over toward Oriana as she chuckles, Galak offers her a grin. As the alarms sound off overhead, his eyes widen a bit and then when addressed hops to his feet and rolls his shoulders. "Alright! Finally some action!" He grabs up his rifle and heads over toward the lift and takes it up to the cockpit. Glancing around at the controls, he moves over quickly for the pilot's chair and eases himself down. Glancing at the readouts and then at the planet ahead, Galak angles the ship toward the planet and moves it steadily into orbit. "What are we looking for boss?" he yells back toward Rax.

Rax Vaelus takes the lift up as soon as it returns and looks over the scanners. Detecting a faint nav beacon, Rax points into the distance, "There... 343 clicks out. Bearing 141+17. Watch the windshear."

Nodding his head, Galak leans over to gaze at the blip of the nav beacon on the scanners. "Hmm... alright." Manipulating the controls of the Infiltrator, Galak maneuvers the ship in the desired heading. "So have you been here before? Whatever this place is? And why the secrecy?" The ship races across the sky above the icy terrain below, the nav beacon getting closer and closer. Once they draw nearer, Galak looks down on the terrain below. "That dune looks like as good of a place as any..." Galak steers the Infiltrator around toward the dune, the repulsers blasting to stabilize and left the ship as it creeps lower and eventually touches down.

Knowing they were nearing planet side Oriana had gone to get dressed in some warm clothes for the weather. And she had made her introductions to Miz, seeing as they never met before. With that done she'd if made her way to the bridge and stop a few steps in watching the two. "Anything we should be prepared for that we've nor gone over?"

Miz has gone quiet now that they are doing that thing where they touch down on whatever planet they are on. He doesn't know much about many places or any places, really. He's not going to make a move to get off this ship until the others do, that's for sure. He's also not dressed for anything cold. Oh well.

Rax Vaelus leans forward, watching out the viewscreen. "The secrecy is because this world hasn't been on any known star charts for over a thousand years..." He looks over, "And before you ask...no." His gaze turns to the window, "I am not a Force wizard. ...I merely have a vested interest in their relics." Bracing a bit with the landing, Rax turns sharply away, heading for the lift. "Good landing. Kirk should be here soon."

Heading down to put on heavier winter gear, Rax has a heavy, furred parka that covers his face, along with thick gloves, and heavy, cleated boots. Wrapping a scarf around his lower face and pulling goggles over his eyes, he nods sharply toward the lockers while looking at Miz. "Get dressed," his muffled voice commands. "You won't last five minutes out there in that." Looking up as he heads outside through the airlock, Rax is just in time to spot the Shadowblade on approach.

Galak begins the process of powering down the ship's engines, turning dials and pulling levers. The ships engine can be heard whirring down to an eventual stop. He stands and gazes out the window at the icy landscape they have landed upon and shakes his head. "Thousand years... and now we are walking out there to freeze our asses off," he mutters to himself as he looks down at the scanner and then shuts it off with the flick of a toggle. Turning, he gazes at Oriana and says, "It was Oriana, right? Glad to see you still in one piece and without that dreadful flask in your hand..." As he moves over toward the lift to carry him back down to the common area, he lowers his voice and whispers to her, "If you need a nip to keep you warm out there, I have mine." He pats his chest, just beneath his thick fur coat and then heads down and on his way to follow Rax out into the freezing cold.

"Yes," Oriana replies to Galak has they go to head down the lift. She would move light even if bundled up in her warm clothes. In her hands is a toque that she fiddles with. Eyes widen a touch as she is offered the idea of the flask and she looks like she is teetering on the edge. Swallowing the lump in her throat and looking to where Rax went she sighs. "I better not. Sorry." Yes, she said no it was hard but she did. Stuffing her hat on she would go to disembark too.

"... Right." Miz has never really been the type of person to be too worried about self-preservation or anything. He's focused on just what he's been hired to do and right now he's gotten himself over to the lockers and he's popping open the one he was told about.

Insert Suiting Up For The Cold Montage Moment Here.

Miz makes to follow with the disembarking. He still doesn't have anything to say. He's not the most chatty when he's about to go hunt for something he might actually get killed for by his employer's own admission.

The Shadowblade touches down on the old planet of Ilum. "You must be kidding me. I hate ice planets." He says and then moves from the bridge towards the storage locker, "Keep the engines warm, Shakira. I don't wanna be stuck on this ice ball incase of trouble." He says and then begins to bundle up in nice WARM all temperature cloaks and furs. He's not gonna freeze. He grabs his wrist computer then his gear, "Man, I just got over being sick and now this. That mans gonna drag me all over the damn galaxy, I know it." "At least you are making money." "True. I'll be back shortly." He heads to the rear and lowers the ramp, heading down it before noticing some of the others. He looks over and notices Oriana, "Sith Spit..." He mumbles and combs his hand in his hair, in case before starting to walk over towards the group as they disembark as well.

Rax Vaelus is bundled up so heavily as to be unrecognizable. But his voice is as recognizable as ever, even muffled. "Kirk, I'm glad you could make it..." He turns and points with his glove, "Galak Varga, back up pilot and fighter. ...Oriana. Special operations. ...Miz Viasco. Salvager." He turns back to Kirk, his goggles bright blue in the light of the nearby star. "They don't know where we are. I'd like to keep it that way. They know what we're looking for." He would have shown Kirk the broken crystal before they left. Turning to include everyone, he nods, "Our goal here is two blue crystals. Anything other than blue or green, tell me immediately." He turns a bit. "...We can examine that wreck down there on our way out. Everyone ready to move?"

Damn it's cold, thank gosh for warm clothes! She would stop with a slight hop onto the ground and look around, spotting Kirk fixing his hair. Eyes flicker to Rax upon her introduction and then move back to Kirk. "Fixing your hair for Shakira? Isn't love blind and sees beauty through anything?" Smirking a touch, it seems the two know each other, there is a shift on her foot and she looks over her shoulder and then forward, hands tugging her had down more so there is a small part of her face and some of that deep Brown hair that peeks out. Moving forward she'd go to look around as if in wonder of this ball of cold and ice. "What do we do first Rax?"

Miz is probably the one that doesn't have much to say to anyone. He's listening to Rax because of the fact that he's running Point on this mission. Although, then the wreckage is indicated? Miz's Scavenger Smile pops up something fierce. He's always ready to uncover things that have long since been forgotten. It's where he gets his kicks, dammit. "Yeah, let's move. I don't want to be here longer than we have to." Not that he's scared or anything. It has more to do with the cold! Yeah, that's it! Pay no attention to the way his eyes dart around with latent paranoia. So much so that he doesn't even seize the opportunity to nod in greeting to Kirk. He doesn't have the best people skills, ah well.

A light roll of his eyes is given towards Ori, "Don't start with me sister. It's too damn cold for your sinical jokes." He states before nodding to the things Rax said, "Sure, don't tell them we're on Hoth. Got it." He tucks his wrist computer futher into his sleeve. He waits for further instructions from Rax before looking to Galek, nodding his head to the man and then over towards Miz as well, "Greetings and Salutations to those I don't know or barely know." Then he glances back to Oriana, "And don't be jealous. It will give you wrikles."

Striding forward through the snow drifts, Rax Vaelus stabs a finger forward... Or starts to. He just stops. And turns to face Kirk in that '...Really?' way of silent disapproval. Standing there for a few seconds more, Rax just shakes his head and turns, pointing into the darkness of the cavern once more. "Onward. Lightsources on. Glow rods, fusion lanters, helmet lights... Anything you've got. We descend into darkness..." Powering his way through the snow, Rax heads into the cavern's entrance, fearless.

Pushing through the snow Oriana would peer through her goggles hands close to her weapons in case danger hit. She would looking over her shoulder and laugh - that type of laugh that's catching and uplifting, more so against this cold and snow. "You've got very wild dreams there. All I can say is keep dreaming." She smirks and goes to look around the cave nodding to what Galak had said.

There is no light on her head, but a flashlight was stuffed into her pocket. It takes a second with her gloves but she pulls it out and nods to Rax, flicking it on. She passes a look to the others and rolls her eyes at Kirk. "Trust me, any lines I do get wouldn't be from jealously but from constant laughter."

Striding forward along the path laid out by the glowrods, Rax activates his shoulder-mounted light and powers through the blustering winds. Scarf around his lower face, large, mirrored goggles across the upper half, and ringed by a fridge of fur from his parka's hood, Rax makes his way through the snow carefully. He's brought two ships. Extra supplies. Spare pilot. Just in case. No mistakes this time. Not like with the crashed starfighter.

Kirk Novastar follows the small group as he looks over to Oriana then merely shrugs. He turns his flashlight to the powered on position that sits around his right hand. His wrist computer on his left hand in case that's needed. He packs light as he's merely an engineer. He's here to make credits mostly. He looks over to Rax, "Hazard pay." Kirk makes his way through his sno. "I hate snow but at least it's not sand."

From here on out, or for the moment, Oriana would follow into the cave using her light to see and looking around curiously.

Kirk can't see it, but Rax does roll his eyes at the 'Hazard Pay' comment. "You will be compensated, Mr. Galestar, adequate to the task required." Trudge trudge. "I assure you." Looking around the opening of the cave, Rax turns, "From here on out, keep your voices low. Stay together, but do not bunch up. We don't know what may be down here. Keep your eyes open." Turning, Rax ventures into the Crystal Caves, moving cautiously...

Kirk Novastar nods over to Rax as he shines his flashlight around a moment, "Good, good. I like getting paid." He states before looking over to Ori and lowering his voice, "If you get cold, it's ok to snuggle up to me. The body hear shared will keep us both a live." He says over to her before he continues walking. He knows what Rax told him. He shifts his eyes around this frozen waste ball. "I'll be surprised if we find anything."

Oriana gives a nod to Rax, understanding what he's saying. As they enter the cave she would look around slowly and then fix her gaze on Kirk. Lips quirk up like she is about to burst into laughter but doesn't, they need to be quiet. Instead she will roll her eyes and shake her head amused by the remark. "I wouldn't want to come between you and Shakira," She very quietly whispers back.

Having been following along with the group, Galak shines his flashlight left to right, his blaster barrel following the beam of light. He nods to Rax's instruction and falls into place a few feet back and a good distance to the right, putting some space between himself and the others.

Rax Vaelus enters the cave silently, slowly turning to track his shoulder light around. Looking up at the smooth, curving rock, Rax hmms quietly. Hearing the hum of Galak's rifle behind him, Rax unholsters his own pistol and strides deeper into the cave, wary and alert. With his free hand, Rax reaches into his pocket...and produces the two broken halves of the blue crystal he showed them earlier. Looking around slowly, with the halves held out for reference, Rax begins to move deeper into the caves, searching...

Her steps are slow and guarded, and would be light but with all this winter gear and the boots well it's a bit hard to be graceful. Eyes slowly look around taking in what is here and what is there, but just a dark cave is everywhere. Hearing the others grab their weapons she does the same that gloved hand reaches for her blaster. The vibrosword is on her back too, easy to get to if they need it. For the time being the woman simply follows quietly.

Kirk Novastar follows in behind Rax and then says, "So why are we after some crystals? Are they valuable? I have a lot of credits I need to make you know. I need to start work on building a custom battledroid, opening a shop, building a station. Lots to do and little time." The young engineer notes everyone drawing their weapons. "Cave....ice....energy weapons, what could go wrong?" He tosses that out there. He merely shines his flash light around looking as they walk deeper into the cave.

Shrugging his shoulders as they creep deeper into the cave, Galak says lowly in reply to Kirk, "If something comes out of this cave wanting to eat me, I want to at least have a chance of making it dinner before it does the same of me." With that, the bounty hunter falls silent once more, eyes scanning the darkness for a crystal similar to the one Rax has in hand. His eyes rove from up high to down low, paying close attention to where the cave walls meet the floor.

"They are valuable beyond price... Powerful beyond reason." Slowly advancing down into the darkness, Rax takes a deep breath and tries to feel...something. Anything. The barest whisper. The slightest tug. The old alien at the diner on Coruscant's words haunt him, as they have haunted him since he first heard them. Stopping for no apparent reason in the middle of the tunnel's passage, Rax closes his eyes...and breathes deeply once again. Opening them slowly, he walks forward once more, holding the broken crystal out before him.

Hidden behind the mirrored visor of his goggles, Rax's eyes burn brightly...

Enough of the questions are being asked for her, Oriana remains silent. Though she does watch the others closely as well making sure to note where they are or where an advantage may be for someone or something to attack. All she notes is that their leader pauses, being behind them and all she would pause and then begin to move again when it seems they are meant too.

Kirk Novastar listens to what was said to him and seems to be pleased with one answer. To Rax, he was looking forward to scoring some credits and any thing that might be aviable to him business wise. To Galak, "Well, lets hope there isn't anything in this save that is hungry today." The man looks back and over to Ori, "Besides, someone of us would only be a toothpick size snack." A playful grin is given towards her before he looks back straight, marching onwards. He begins to recall all the things that Rax had him investigation in that database, the crashed Jedi starfighter, the holo messages. Kirk's bill is climbing in numbers, "If there's a purple one, I want it. It's a good color you know?"

Continuing to walk along, Galak rolls his eyes at Kirk's words, but doesn't say anything. He is lagging behind on purpose, either to put more distance between himself and Kirk who keeps talking (likely to mean if something comes out drawn by the noise, hopefully it will be Kirk's mouth that does the drawing), or to make sure if they need to turn tail and run that Galak isn't at the end of the line. As he looks down, Galak catches sight of a flash of light in his flashlight. Stopping quickly and crouching, Galak picks up the small crystalline like rock. Looking at it in his hand, he frowns for a moment and then pockets it without comment and then rises back to his feet.

As they come into the chamber of light, Rax is...silent. The winterized garb masks his expressions, his reactions. Instead, he just stands there, staring at the central spire. As the others spread out, he advances forward...and kneels down to sit the broken crystals anywhere they will embed. "...Welcome home." The broken halves returned to their likely point of origin, Rax looks up...and begins to search. Slowly. Methodically. Carefully...

Until, that is, he sees Galak slip something glittery in to his pocket. Rax's head turns first, within the parka's hood, followed slowly by the rest of him. He's staring straight at Galak with that mirrored visor, silent.

"I'd be the sweetest of desserts, get it right Kirk." Oriana says in a whisper of a voice still. As they move further in she lifts a hand and pulls up her own goggles a second to take in the slight in it's truest forms. Bringing them back down she would look to Rax and watch as he puts his crystals down, smiling a touch. Spotting a metal box she looks to it and moves a few steps that way, spotting on the ground a crystal. Kneeling down a hand comes out, the glove pulled off and a finger delicately runs across it, just for a second. Against her skin the crystal is cold, it glows all the more too as her flashlight nears it. "Huh.." Is the only word out of her mouth, she looks up to the other crystals with a mixture of aw and respect. Putting her glove back on and putting her hands on her knees she pushes up to stand and turn to see their leader staring down Galak. Curious, she watches this having no idea what happened.

As Kirk shines his flashlight around, his engineer mind taking in the sight of what he sees. It was fascninating. He starts walking towards one of the crystal formations and then reaches a hand out to touch the surface of it. Ori's words were lost to him as he begin calculating the cost of such crystals and how much they would sell for, "I got an empty cargo hold so looking forward to filling it up and taking home the money." He replies softly before he smiles. He didn't know much about Jedi or the lore that comes with it. But all this was a huge learning experience.

Galak rises back to his feet from his crouch and cradles his blaster back across his arm. He begins to follow the rest further into the cave and then spots Rax looking his direction. He seems perplexed for a moment and then his eyes widen as he figures out what the attention his way must be due to. He pats his pocket and says with a confidence that perhaps doesn't ring as true as it should, "It isn't one of those crystals. It is just a shiny rock. I figured I would take it home with us to get some tests ran on it."

Rax Vaelus spreads his hands apart slowly, still down at his sides. His voice is heavily muffled through the thick scarf. "I can see that you do not fully appreciate just how much this expedition means to me. Allow me to illuminate you, Galak Varga..." Reaching his open, empty hand back behind him, his blaster hand still out to the side a bit down at his side, Rax unfastens something from a folded pouch on the back of his utility belt. Bringing it back around, Rax is very clearly holding a /lightsaber hilt/ in his right hand, and he gestures idly with the blaster, nodding at the mercenary. As he speaks, the barely controlled anger in his voice slowly rises. "Now... What...did...you you put in your pocket...?"

From where she stands Oriana watches this, she not only hears but in a way can feel the growing tension. And knowing full well the wrath of Rax that frown deepens. Looking to Galak a second she sighs a touch, more out of worry. Making her decision her steps bring her up to their leader's side. Yes, this could turn on her again; she's ready for it too. Biting her lower lip and bringing a hand on to rest on Rax's forearm that softer side comes out, that gentler being within, maybe it was the person she started out has, comes out. "This isn't a place for anger," She says, gently and soothingly as her big brown eyes flicker between the two. She tries to be as calming as possible. "It will ruin you and ruin what you're trying to do here."

His attention shifts back to Rax as he produces a lightsaber. He blinks at that and looks over to Rax, "Mind telling me why you are carrying something that will get you killed in almost every system? I think my fee just doubled." He says with a grin and then goes back to looking over the large crystal formations. He then turns and begins to look around himself for a crystal of his own to sell to someone, "The black markets gonna come alive when I get back to Nar Shaddaa." Dollar signs flow over his vision while he looks for other crystals.

Galak Varga doesn't change position as Rax brings the lightsaber hilt out into view, though his eyes do drop to examine it closely. As they do the waggling blaster in the other hand. Whatever his thoughts may be, though, are not revealed as his eyes lift to Rax's visor again and he repeats, "It isn't a crystal like what you are looking for. It's just an icy stone I found on the ground. You won't tell us where we are, so I thought I would take a piece of it home with us. Are we going to waste more time when we are here looking at the crystals you are looking for right now?" He doesn't move to bring his blaster to bare against Rax or anything, he just stands and watches cautiously, and dips his head to point toward the crystal mounds before them.

There is a deepening silence across the space between Rax Vaelus and Galak Varga. The tension, already high, begins to mount, as the space pirate says nothing. The only movement as Oriana holds onto his arm is a slight tightening of gloved fingers around the black and grip hilt. The mirrored visor of the winter goggles reflects Galak Varga's visage back at him, the lower half of Rax's face covered from view. Six and a half feet tall, two hundred pounds, Rax towers over most humans, and he looms now, even across the distance. There is a slow shift of Rax's boots against the floor of the cavern, gaining traction...

...and he turns away. Drawing away from Oriana's hand, Rax turns and returns to the spire, looking. Feeling. Touching. His blaster has been reholstered. The lightsaber has been tucked away. Rax is focusing on the search. He says nothing. Nothing at all.

Saying nothing Oriana will just.. be there, there is nothing to stop Rax from walking away, though she watches him a second and then looks to Galak. In taking a deep yet cold breath, feeling her body shiver from the inside briefly a foot slides back as it's used as her balance in a quick and swift turn. With things settled she would quietly go about searching for a crystal.

Kirk goes back to finding his pet rocks of no value. He seems to be trying to find something to sell on the black market. "I'll have to come back with some load lifter droids and load some of this into my cargo bay." He says and rubs his hands together, letting to other two merely handle their talks.

Walking further into the cavern now that Rax has turned about and gone on his business, Galak moves around looking for stones. Not finding anything except regular rocks, he crouches and looks at the metal boxes and tools. Following a bit of wires that lead up to one of the laser cutting tools, Galak frowns in thought and reaches out a hand and wipes the years of dust and grime away from the computer screen mounted to the device. Gazing at the controls, he punches a few buttons and then flips a switch and all at once the loud hum of the tool cranking into life can be heard filling the cavern. His eyes widen as lines of script begin to race across the screen as the device powers up. Glancing over at Rax for a moment and eyeing the laser cutting cannon, he shakes his head briefly and then clears his throat. "Hey Kirk, I believe you're up."

Rax Vaelus is standing in front of the giant block of crystal. He hasn't said anything, but the way his arms hang limp at his sides says it all. He's just staring up at it, in silence. The central pane of the crystal reflects his visage vack at him, reflecting infinitely ever smaller between his visor and the wall.

After a while, he produces that lightsaber, looking down at it again. "You know..." he says softly, looking at the hilt, "...I never even learned your name." Looking up at the giant crystal again, he continues, "I guess I should have known what you were all along... But it never really seemed important until I heard it spoken, out loud." He gestures up at the wall before holding the lightsaber up, "And now, after all we've done, and all the places we've been... I didn't think the journey would end like this."

Lowering the object, his visor turns back to it, "For what it's worth, I am sorry, nameless woman..." Kneeling down, he sets the lightsaber down on a small ridge before the crystal where it sinks into the ground. "Rest in the Force."

Stepping away, Rax turns and starts to head for the cavern entrance. "...We are done here. Time to go."

Sure she can make a sly remark, jest and joke, but really Oriana just doesn't feel it, doesn't sense that this place is about that. It's something important and for that she would remain more silent than normal, looking about as best she can. Hearing the saw there is a turn of her foot and her head looks over her shoulder to see Galak starting one up. Smart. Eyes pass by Kirk as she goes to say something and regard Rax but words are caught in her through as she watches this. If one could see her face, yeah she'd look sad. Feeling that sense of hopelessness her head lowers a second as in respect to what's been going on, that that she really knows, she's just going by what she is seeing. Turning to follow as the order to leave was given it's then that she would speak up, her tone a whisper. "Galak may of fashioned something to cut one.." It's daring to say she knows, but she does.

Kirk Novastar hears his name called and turns to what Galak is pointing out. Curiousity gets the better of him as he moves to the mounted laser cutting tool. The engineer hooks his wrist computer onto it and then says, "Alright, clear the area unless you want to be cut in two." He declares before he begins to do his thing. The engineer elite starts up his wrist computer then starts accessing the controls of the laser mounted drill. "Let's see what happens."

Looking from the laser cutting tool he just managed to fire up, to Rax leaving, to Kirk coming over and plugging into the machine, Galak furrows his brow and says, "Hey... wait! We have a big rock, we have a computer controlled laser... and we have a computer guy here.. I've seen him at work! Give him a chance!" He says this all quickly, even as his feet slowly carry him along after Rax.

Rax's visor turns aside at Oriana's comment, "I cannot feel the Force. But I can see the way the wind is blowing." His visor turns forward under the parka, his muffled voice continuing, "I have fought my way across the galaxy using that blade. I have spilled the blood of the innocent with it. And now I have fought my way here, into the Unknown Regions, looking for a way to reignite its light..."

He turns, "...only to end up here, and finally understand just how much the Force has pushed against me, all this time. I am not meant to be here." He gestures aside, "And so, as the Force wills, I go."

Looking aside at the beam of light, Rax stands and watches, waiting. At Galak's plea, Rax does turn the visor his way...but he says nothing as he simply watches the laser's light.

Oriana is clearly moved by what Rax says, a gloved hand comes up to pull up her visor so her big brown eyes are seen. "I'm.. sorry," The words hold enough meaning and weight to them that the floor could fall out from under them all. Moving forward she would yet again bring a hand up to rest on his arm, if allowed, to add more comfort and support. The killing the innocent, it doesn't seem to be the time to bring that up. "When you loose everything you had, all that you were, or thought you were, nothing cripples the soul more," She sounds like this is from experience, but that may have been clear when he ripped the flask from her hands too. "Maybe you weren't meant to be here, but maybe you are meant to be somewhere else, we aren't tied to one spot as one symbol of our beings." That there, is a realization she even had recently.

As the drills go off there is a turn her own gaze going to fix on the other two, and that is when she'd fall into silence watching what their work will produce.

Kirk begins to set the laser dimensions of the crystal once shown to him by Rax. The laser begins to do it's thing, cutting into the large crystal form mation. Kirk begins to talk out load, mostly at Rax, "We're up to about ten thousand right now. I hope you don't have to sell a body part to pay me." Kirk avoids the laser burning by staring into his wrist computer and away from the light, letting his eyes remain on the screen. "It hurts to be this good sometimes."

Galak Varga smirks and says sarcastically to Kirk, "Yeah, and the one computer wiz in the group walked right past that damn laser and didn't think to try and use it. The bounty hunter did. Don't forget that." He has a hand lifted to shield his eyes from the fiery point where the laser is cutting into the crystal, but he is walking slowly over to join Kirk, his eyes watching the computer screen.

Rax Vaelus says, very calmly, and very evenly, "I am having quite a bad year here, Kirk. You really may not want to put the blood-soaked pirate lord's new outlook on life to the test quite so gratingly... or so soon." As the laser makes its sweeping cuts, he adds, "And I still have a blaster pistol I have no compunctions against using."

But there is no bite to his words. No affection, no joy. But no bite, either. He simply watches, and when it is done, he approaches the finished product, picking it up in his all-weather gloves. "...Will you speak to me now, my lady? Is this the will of the Force?"

He mutters as he reaches down for the lightsaber, "...Bit of a prick, if it is."

For her roll now, Oriana just stands there watching and listening, every now and then looking over her shoulder to make sure nobody or nothing is coming down on them.

"Only cause he mentioned nothing about heavy machinary operations." He says to Galak while he monitors the out put of the laser. To Rax's comment, "Pirate Lord? You can't be a lord of one. I'm sorry to say. Besides, I never take chances on anything at all. My ship is programed to transmitt everything I know publicly should I not return in time. Any forced entry, same thing." He says to the man before looking to check on Ori while the laser continues to cut the right shape and size for Rax, "You know I'm the best at what I do so let me do my job. If need be, we'll set up finacial arrangements. I am a business man."

Shaking his head, Galak looks at the screen and says, "Let's just finish this and get out of here."

Taking up the lightsaber, Rax stares at it through the featureless, mirrored visor. He is silent for several long moments before looking at the others. "We are done here. I request that you leave this place as we found it. Time to go."

Goggles had been put back on, Oriana tilts her head and regards Kirk with a glance giving a bit of a chuckle. "This didn't seem like the place to make business from, maybe that's just me." She shrugs a touch, hand still on her blaster. Leaning back as the order is given to depart the woman would turn to head back to the surface.
