Log:Jedi Order: A True Lesson Learned
A True Lesson Learned
OOC Date: July 29, 2018
Location: Maz Kanata's Castle Cantina Courtyard, Takodana, Tashtor Sector
Participants: Jedi Order: Rey, Ax, Jax Greystorm, Chewbacca, Jonn Drayson, Jessika Pava, Zandra naMuriel, Elrych Cometburn, Yuun, Sesti Greystorm
The Jedi had thought it time to repay Max for the destruction brought on by the First Order after having drawn them to Takodana in chase of Fin, Rey, Chewie and Han Solo. There were crates full of supplies and a number of cutting tools to help craft the stone. Even droids to help lift and secure those stones but the fledgling Jedi might find more freedom here to work on their telekinesis than other places. As those who have come to help rebuild gather, a tall, taller than Maz herself, Holo projection of the 'Pirate Queen' comes to life. "Oh my most precious Jedi! Thank you for coming and repaying the debt that you owe." She turns to regard Chewie, "Hello handsome." A wink, her accent thick and voice husky. "I've provided the tools, the resources are local. Unfortunately I can't join you as I'm... in the middle of an acquisition." She pauses, "Just keep a look out. I've heard rumors of some raiders in these parts. See you all in a few cycles." And then the Holo ends.
Elrych Cometburn is leaning against a crate, his arms crossed over his chest. "Yeah... okay. Did anyone sense that she might know something we don't?" The Corellian knew Maz a bit and had frequented the castle in the past during his time Smuggling before and after joining the order. "She's always so... cryptic. Shyeah..." So he moves to open a crates and starts tossing tools out over his shoulder. "What even are these things..."
The lost souls and the force tremors of the battle between the Jedi and Sith can still be felt here and it seems extra spooky today as the fog rolls in off the lake and the sky develops into a thick soupy overcast.
~ Ax just laughs at the holo. "Yes, she's always that cryptic," he says. The Echani looks about thinking maybe he should have found another EVS droid like he got for Arisnar. Of course, that was more money than he wanted to spend again, and there was the entire headache of moving a droid that was the size of a carrack-class light cruiser.
"Jax and I will keep an eye out for raiders," Ax says towards Elrych. "The rest of you, consider this an exercise to practice your skills, just try to be discreet if there's any observers you don't know. Maz's place was tended to draw denizens of all loyalties." ~
The wookiee cannot help but to grin as Maz turns her attention on him and greets him in the only acceptable way possible he'd expect from Maz. Chewie looks toward Elrych and shrugs. 'Gotta keep life interesting with those cryptic responses.' As Ax decides to appoint Jax and himself as security lookout, the wookiee just glances toward the tools and such. He's no jedi, but he is pretty damn tough, so Chewie might be able to lift some of the smaller blocks into place, but other than that... mind lifting might be required.
Zan is not necessarily the one to know what she's doing. SHe's got her helmet attached at her waist, and she shrugs. "Stars fade out if I know," she replies to Elrych. "But I'm willing to try - I don't know - carrying things? Maybe attaching them, if it'll help." Maz's holo gets a 'huh,' from her, and not much more. Zan may be a bit too new at this to be of much help, but she can try.
Jax dodges a flying tool, "It's a mortar trowel, used to spread mortar between stones. Careful throwing it. Let me help you with the tools. Ax, I'll keep an eye out and help with my hands." His eyes elifting to the sky before picking up a load and carrying it. "And it's Maz, you don't need to the force to know she's knows more than she tells us."
The air starts to turn a bit cooler around the area where the Jedi are working. Tools start to come out and stones start to get get stacked. There's a really big one Elrych is trying to move. He grumping as he attempts to heft in. He can't, it's beyond his strength limits. So he backs up and takes a few deep breaths. Holding out his hand he concentrates, his face contorting into a scrunched up mess. It's hard to tell if he's actually concentrating or going to the bathroom. That later answer comes when he lets out a toot. FTTTHPPPPT. It ends in a high pitch sqeek. HE lets his hand fall down. "I... Chewie can I get a bit of help?"
The trees sway and the sound of the lake's shore can be heard along with the various wild lifes.
~ Ax chuckles. He takes a position along one of the walls, leaning against it and lighting a cigarra. His job was sentry duty after all, which meant he needed to keep his hands free of large stones, right? ~
It is a pretty large stone, likely even a bit too large for a wookiee, even a Chewbacca. Chewie moves toward said stone that Elrych is trying to mind lift and moves to help out, the wookiee with mind assistance makes it look like a relatively easy task to accomplish, though he does grunt a few times as it is carried into place. Setting the stone in place, Chewie straightens up with a groan. 'We should use those swoops to drag the stones in place so then they just have to be lifted up.' Apparently he had heard something off in the distance that sounded swoop-ish.
Zan looks up, glancing off towards the woods, with a frown. "Yeah, that would be a great idea," she says, with a nod to Chewie. "I mean, or we need to get some more droids or something." She appears to have heard the swoops too, whatever that sound might be. She moves over to Jax, looking at the tools, and she says, "Spreading mortar? That sounds like a job I could probably manage?"
Jax smiles as he sees Elrych try to use the force to lift the heavy object and fail. He clasp the man on the shoulder. "Use a lifter or that." He states asking for help. "NO need to show off when you have help or a lifter. But I admire your attempt. I wouldn't be able to do it myself. How goes the willpower training?" Then he moves to start lifting something that's much more easier for him than a boulder that Chewbacca was. He stops for a moment then says, "Nah."
"I didn't want to leave her, either. Kare, I mean. But we had a mission to complete, and she knows the dangers. We've been in tight spots before. She knows the risks. There's nothing more we could have done except to leave more people behind, and that didn't seem like the right answer. We needed to get back and get everything prepared." Strolling through the forest with Rey, Jessika Pava's chin turns one side to the next, allowing her to drink in the sights around them. The subtle breeze through the rustling branches of the trees and the light that casts spotty points of illumination against the ground all combine to create a serene picture that makes her feel more at ease. "Looks a lot different down here than from up there. Not a bad place to go after Jakku, honestly."
As they come into the clearing, Jessika spots at least a couple of familiar facies. "Chewie. Elrych." The heel of her right hand rests against the back of the blaster resting in its thigh holster, and she glances around. "What can I do to help?."
Yuun came after having gotten a ride with another of the Jedi who were sent here to help. He walks around some of the areas that were damaged, and he looks to the others to find out what all is being done to help. He walks over to Ax, "Where do you need me at?" he asks.
From the south, two figures and a droid emerge from the tree line, one is wearing a brown and tan set of Jedi-styled clothing and the droid is a familiar sight all to himself, being that of R2-D2. The Jedi that he was with? Rey. She'd been quite busy of late with a lot of... things... going on, rumors of her death were clearly untrue though as the young woman draws closer and closer to her allies along a dirt pathway through the thick grass.
Rey's eyes scan around the area, memories of this place thick in her mind and though they were only eight months gone-by, it felt like another lifetime ago... like it had been years.
As Rey gets closer, she glances back to her companions who she'd ridden with and then continues on up the pathway toward the rebuilding process. Rey's right hand rises up to wave at whomever may look her way to greet she and the others with her.
Elrych nods his thanks to Chewie, "Thanks pal." He's breathing heavily, sweating already. It's so very clear this young corellian didn't get to the Gym much. He was going to have to change that. Reguardless of his pooting incident, he makes his way over to Zan, "Hey did you listen to any of those deep cuts yet. Enough to want to go see a show sometime?" He picks up some more rocks. When Chewie mentions swoops he blinks. "What swoops? There's swoops? Where." He didn't hear a thing. Rey and Jessika show and he smirks and waves towards them, especially Rey. "Oh hey... there's my wingman. What's up rancor-cup?" The hell is a rancor-cup. This guy...
The sound of Swoop Bikes does start to echo a bit. There's even a few large cracks in the forest. Far Away. The loud noise masks the numbers unless those with the means reach out. It sounded like they were headed this way.
~ As Yuun draws close, Ax looks over. "Go in, get your hands dirty, and do whatever needs to be done," he says. "I'm on sentry duty," he says, still leaning against the wall and smoking his cigarra. "Really wish I had brought some extra droids, maybe a few dozen spacehands."
As the familiar droid and young female Jedi come into the area, Ax stands up smiling. "Rey, R2, good to see you," he says. His attention drifts to Jessika, "Who did you bring with you? I don't think this is someone I've met before."
Before a response can be given, Ax is moving towards the edge of the forest. "We got company, arm up!" he calls out. "At least a dozen, maybe more." ~
Ax's call for men to Arms, Chewie grabs up his bowcaster he had set aside when Elrych had asked him to help out with lifting that one big block. Tugging back the cocking cord, Chewie reacies the weapon and begins to glance around. 'Where?' the wookiee questions of Ax, 'Was it the swoops we had heard?'
Elrych's words get a half shrug and a "I listened to the first couple tracks. It's enough that I'm sure I'll listen to the rest of them," she starts before there's incoming. "Rey," she greets. The droid gets a nod, and Chewie gets an odd look from the young pilot. "I know you," she says, simply. A nod for the other new arrival she doesn't know - Jessica. Zan hears Ax's words, and she simply drops whatever she's got, and she takes up her blaster pistol without a word. "Alright then," she says with a nod. "At least there are lots of rocks to hide behind?" Cover, she means, but well, you get the idea. Speaking of, Zan finds a big rock to hide behind, trying to listen and see what might be out there.
Jax looks up to see Rey and Jessika show up but before he can say anything Ax is telling of contacts. Jax sits the load down and turns to look in the direction Ax calls out. Jax's hand going to his saber and brings it up in a defensive positon. He doesnt' move to strike yet. Just ready to protect the workers and the others here.
"Maybe I spoke to soon," Jessika says as an aside to Rey. A quick glance at the white-haired man warning everyone that people are approaching leads Jessika to cock her head slightly to the side and focus on her sense of hearing. She can hear it, alright. The sound of approaching engines. "Engines. Swoops? They sound like swoops. Hard to tell with the echo of this valley." Before she can go to shedding her jacket and getting into the mix of work, Jessika glances around the clearing for what might be the best place to get into position. Dropping her right hand down, she slips her fingers and palm against the textured grip of her BlasTech EL-718. It's familiar weight acts as a counter against the pull of her fingers.
It can't stop itself from being shifted out of the smooth interior of its holster without a small scuff of durasteel against leather, though. A quick glance checks the setting of her weapon, and she switches it from stun to kill. She doesn't want them to get that close. She also shifts her thumb along the safety, even though her finger remains along the trigger guard rather than against the smooth curve of it. She's got no targets, yet.
Rey is approach Ax and motioning back to Jessika. "Jessika Pava, one of the best pilots in the galaxy." She tells the man and is about to continue on to answer another question (or ask one of her own) when the call to arms is suddenly thrust out there.
Rey turns and looks to the others, her gaze going over Elrych and Zandra... she was happy to see some of the other young Jedi out on this mission to help Maz rebuild, but... hostiles? Thats a clear and present concern.
"Be careful not to be the aggressors, we do not want to be the reason that combat breaks out. Leave it to them to decide if thats what they are here for." Rey tells everyone who's within earshot of her. She looks back to Jessika and gives her a look of apology for bringing her into yet another fight, then her eyes go forward and scan the horizon for these new unknown arriving speeders.
Where was Jonn Drayson, Action Hero, this entire time? "I've fyenished stowing der gyeah," he announced to the assembled group as he rejoined them. He'd been on the ship, using his muscles for their true purpose of lifting heavy objects and putting them where they needed to be. Forget spacehands, Jonn was a one man moving machine. Dem biceps. "Swoohps?" he asked, pretty much rhetorically. Out came his own blaster, and because he was a nice man, he flicked it over to Stun mode. No killing today.
Well he was on his own, but than again there were plenty of places for him to go to help. Still as he turns around to go help with some of the heaving lifting, they are alerted that they have incoming. Taking the stun saber he has in his hand and getting ready, Yuun moves off to the side and finding a position which will keep him out of sight for the time being before he attack.
Elrych blinks as Ax announces the incomming. "Wait... what?" He asks, pulling the 718 he got from the Quartermaster aboard the Renegade after last mission from his holster. He moves to hide behind the same rock Zan is, taking a deep breath an focusing on trying to feel the force. Not just to help him but to calm him too. Thos around him can feel him connecting to it, if only just a little bit of a draw. "Well I was hoping we could atch a show together some time." Not the place flyboy.
From out of the woods comes a number of swoops. THe spread out and stop at the court yard. There are indeed 12 angry looking men. Two dismount their speeder and approach Ax, Jax, and who ever else isn't hiding for cover. Their red markings are that of Kanjiklub. One man, with long dark hard speaks softly to the one next to him. "Tasu Leech requests that you step aside." He anounces, "As Maz Kanata owes us a debt. Well, Han Solo owed us a debt but he's dead so now it's her problem. This Property now belongs to Kanjiklub."
~ Ax's hands go to the twin hilts of his matching lightsabers, though he doesn't ignite the emerald blades, at least not yet. The Echani was definitely on guard, but all he knew were that there were people coming, not who they were. He does glance down to make sure the RLW-77 wrist laser was clear of his sleeve, often, a blaster is better in a fight than a lightsaber.
As the thugs begin to approach, Ax just shakes his head. "Wow man, did you pick the wrong day to come trying to collect a debt. Solo's dead, Maz ain't here, and nobody here gives a damn about Kanjiklub." The twin blades of his sabers ignite, one to each side. "Now, I suggest you get back on your speeder and fly as fast as you can. Tell Tasu Leech that he can write the debt off or he's going to lose a lot of men here today," he adds in the most intimidating voice he can muster. ~
Kanjiklub, of course its them... Chewie just has to sigh, he himself had not gone to hide behind a rock, and so its very likely the wookiee would be recognized for who he is by those who've approached Ax and Jax. 'How is it that Han's debts are Maz's debts now?' Chewie roars out toward the group, his translator doesn't quite get teh anger across with its translation into robotic basic. As Ax's lightsaber's ignite and he goes about trying to intimidate the crew, Chewie takes a step forward, that heavily modified bowcaster of his aimed at the guy doing the speaking. 'Leave now or your whole group will be dead.'
"You ask me that now?" Zan says crisply to Elrych, "Elrych, let's concentrate on not getting dead first and then we can talk." Cause she does not have time for this. She moves a bit so she can count, flinching as she spies how many folks are out there. "Oh, damn, this looks bad," she murmurs to Elrych. But nobody's shooting yet, that's a good thing. She frowns a bit, aims her gun, picking someone, but does NOT shoot, or say anything. She couldn't intimidate a flea honestly, so probably a good thing.
Jax glances at Elrych as he asks Zan on a date. "Not now." Jax shakes his head, "I'm not this bad am I?" Then there's a Kanjiklu biker gang bearing down on them. The Corellian glances to Chewie and Rey at the mention of Solo. Things are going to heat up quickly, "Table this and walk away. Our work here won't do anything but improve the site. You can bring this up with Maz when she is here. If you wrestle it from her than you reap the bounty of our folley of rebuilding." He knows it won't work but he got to take the path of peace not yet pressing the buttons of his saber.
While Rey is saying not to be the aggressors, someone else--the white haired man--is being quite the aggressor. Jessika's gaze flicks to him for the briefest of moments, as if trying to wrap her head around the concept of a Jedi speaking in such a manner. She really doesn't know much about Jedi, though. Knowing it's better to keep the fight in front of her, Jessika's gaze snaps right back to the gathered men on their swoops. A whole gang of them, apparently. Last time she looked, there are less of them than less of that gang, but there are multiple Jedi in the clearing. That should count for something, right? Jessika's right hand remains shifted behind her thigh, to keep her blaster concealed from being totally out in the open. Still, she's waiting, and spying a closeby rock.
Yuun finds himself near by Rey and Jessika, he understood some tactics, and so what he does is keep behind cover but he begins trying to sense where those member of Kanjiklub is going and if any of them were going to try to flank them. Having been making some of this his own personal training as well, the hilt of his stun saber is in his hand unactivated. Focusing on the Force he begins trying to sense where thier enemies are are.
"Wait!" Rey calls out and she moves away from where she was toward the center... of everyone... to take a spot in the middle of it all with her hands up and her brown robe's elbow-length sleeves hanging down beneath her arms.
Rey's eyes travel around the new comers... she'd been there that aday that the debt collectors boarded Han's ship and she'd witnessed their ruthelessness up close and personal. She'd hoped that how they'd left them would've lead to their demise, but, apparently not.
"This is absolutely absurd." The young woman says, leveling her gaze onto the Kanji-reps. "Han Solo left your people an entire bulk freighter to do with as they so pleased. That ship alone is worth far more than the man ever owned your people. And beyond that... Maz has no affiliation to Han's finances, so charging her for some stupid old debt, its madness."
Those words are all well and great, but the problem here is that Rey's face is exposed and quite visible in the daylight, and its a face attached toa 10 million credit bounty right now.
Kanjiklub? Who were these people? More pirates? Criminals? General menaces like that Houk on Nar Shaddaa? Either way it spelt bad news, and Jonn watched with interest the debate going down. Well, he sort of watched, because he had holstered his blaster and moved away, seeing things well in hand for now. He mainly put his big strong thug muscles to work, picking up a heavy crate of gear and moving it like the dutiful dumb labour hired for the job that he looked like. Fiber jumpsuit and all.
It gave him little trouble, and he carried the big crate, muscles rippling like a man who bench-presses nerfs for fun, towards the rest of the team like it weighed nothing. It was really bloody heavy, and anyone with a keen Force-eye would note that his strength was augmented. And augmented to some insane amount, too, because that crate had to be brought in on a cart before. What was Jonn doing with it? Well, it was to serve as cover for an impending shootout. That was Jonn, always looking after his kids.
It's a wonder that the Jedi are here, standing in front of this band of Thugs from Kanjiklub. Several of the more greener looking members of the swoop gang are visibly frightened by Chewie and Ax, even some of the more experianced ones. While the small ones starts their swoops and run off, the res move to find cover and are staggered for a round, incapasitated by fear and unable to attack. If the Jedi were to strike, now would be the time. The leader, the quiet man is impressed by the brazen efforts of Chewie and the White haired Jedi. HE whispers to his translator. "He says to come tell him that yourself... he's standing right here." That man grins evily. THough he pays attention to Rey, a thoughtful expression comming over his face. He speaks again to his translator. "This is logical. Maz owes us nothing really. The freighter did pay for its self... Fine... we will leave. But not without you and the 10 million credits on your head." Yep, that's the situation now.
Elrych Cometburn keeps up his steady breathing, focusing, waiting for the call to open fire.
~ Ax's methods aren't as 'Jedi' as they should be, but he'd been dealing with criminal types his entire life. These types generally only understood violence, or the threat of violence at least. Ax stands his ground as Rey steps forward, the Echani not moving or breaking eye contact with the speaker for the swoop gang.
Ax never claimed to be a diplomat or even to be a very good 'Jedi', and his methods weren't as cool as Rey's. Of course, the mention of Rey's bounty pops up, and Ax just shakes his head. "Wrong call," he says as he takes in a breath and calls upon the force to lend him speed. ~
Much like Ax, Chewie is a bad jedi, but then again, it is a good thing that Chewbacca is not a jedi, he is a lot like Han and goes for the direct approach. As his and Ax's intimidation goes mediocre, Chewie watches the couple flee and others go in hiding. It is then that Rey attempts to bargain and it goes south from there, Chewie's more or less job in life is keeping Rey as safe as he can, when he can, and so the mention of the bounty is the 'trigger' to his bowcaster. The first bolt hits the speaker square, but doesn't quite kill him, but he's not doing well, the translater on the other hand? Well his boots are still where he was standing even if the guy isn't there any longer. There's a bellowing roar, which considering it isn't translated must mean it is not a word, just a battle cry.
Zan is so tempted to just not do anything, but well, there's Rey getting herself in trouble - trying to protect the lot of them, and she can't help it. She concentrates, mumbling something about her grandmother under her breath. She does let off one shot, but she totally misses.
Jax draws a deep breath, "That's not happening." He says plainly as he reaches out to the force pulling it to him his speed and agility. THe blue saber blade of his extending. "Never anger a wookiee."
Jessika doesn't fire first. She's happy to let Rey sort the situation out. The second one of the thug's demands she come with him, she's thinking about it, though. Chewbacca is just the one that pulls the trigger. And now that the nexu is out of the bag, there's nothing to stop the whole negotiation from falling apart. Jessika's hand snaps up and her left quickly comes to support her right, with her elbows bending and her muscles tensing up. She's got a solid base of fire and flexible support with how she's got her weapon trained, and she quickly raises the front sight post up so that it's also aligned with the back, which her eye gazes down in the process of trying to center the top of the front in on the center mass of the thug nearest to her.
She squeezes, rather than pulls the trigger, but the speed of trying to snap her weapon up and get in a clean shot leaves the kill bolt zipping past. It's not a wide miss. The thug can smell ozone from singed air. But it's a miss, nonetheless.
Yuun wasn't given a command to attack, with Rey and Ax here, and not attacking the young Jedi Padawan keeps his position. He's seen and heard threats almost all his life, so Kanjiclub puffing out their chest doesn't worry him. He looks around at the workers, some who are going to fight or moving to get behind cover, they were the ones he will work to help. He looks to Rey and Ax and waits for thier orders.
Chaos! Firefight! Someone shot first! The best Jonn Drayson could do right now while they had the initiative was to add even MORE initiative! Aiming for an empty space really bloody close to a couple of the grunts, Jonn Drayson, Action Hero, threw one hundred kilograms of pure crate with a cry of "NYAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!" and a mighty swing of his arms. He didn't check to see if it sailed true. Only that it sailed. No mortal man not named Jonn could have done such a monumental throw AND he still rolled a 10 on his Strength check. Then he dove for cover behind the nearest boulder and out came his blaster again. "GET DAAAAAAAAAUN!" he yelled at anyone still out in the open, which was suspiciously too many people!
Rey doesn't seem phased by the annoucement of being recognized for that ridiculous bounty that Kylo has out on her. What she does seem phased by is the sudden outburst of violence and this is what causes the girl to move forward toward these so-called enemies. "Stop!" Rey calls out, but not to the Swoopers, no, she calls it out to her own people involved in this blossoming fight.
Rey's right hand goes upward as she walks with a steady pace toward the man that Chewbacca had just shot, toward their mouthpiece. She focuses on his presence in the Force and within a moment later their Speaker is lifted up off of the ground and a good fifteen feet into the air.
"Stop!" Rey says again, holding the man up in the air. "That bounty is a lie! The First Order will not keep up their end of the bargain and anyone who dares to claim it will be cut down upon delivering me to their insidious Supreme Leader." She keeps the Speaker held up in the air, his legs and arms flowing slowly around him while she holds him there. "I offer you the opportunity to turn and leave now, leave here... save yourselves. Return to your vehicles and -go-!"
From the direction of the workers, a figure slips out, not running for cover, or running to fight, but striding with purpose towards the adversaries. With her helmet off, her hood falling back, the jota and horns of a zabrak are clearly visible. With her dark hair tamed in it's tight braids, and her face set in a hard expression, Sesti gives her best fierce impression as she steps to the side of the Corellian Jedi; no weapons in hand, yet, but her hands are set at her sides, ready enough to draw if needed.
Chewies attack, while vaporizing the translator, as landed Leech sqaure on his butt. He's stunned, something the experianced fighter hasn't been in quite some time. He looks down to see a giant smoking hole in his chest, eyes go wide. Then he's rising up, like the crucifiction of some diety upon the alter to a god. In this case, that all mighty and powerful god is Rey. The words are heard. Along with Jonn's tossing a giant crate at them and knocking a few over, and the fire from Jess and Zan. Their line is faultering and only one is dead so far. Three more of the goons take off running, saying something just isn't worth the money. The one who's shouting for them to return to their posts is the half dead Leech floating in the middle of the air, screaming in his native tongue, arms waggling around. Rey's rag puppet manages to pull a knife and toss it at her but it goes way wide as he shouts and cries for vengance.
Elrych, after Zan gets brave, pops up and takes a close shot at one of the grunts still sticking around.
The other gang members left don't know what to do. THere is confusion in the ranks so they just start opening fire.
~ Ax doesn't expect these knuckleheads to listen to reason, even though Rey tries to speak it to them. He's not disappointed. Lightsabers deflect bolts that come near him and Ax is moving like lightning into the fray, twin blades of emerald energy slice and dice their way as he rushes into the mix of the remaining thugs who were opening fire into the others. ~
Taking a knee as the Kajiklub members begin to shoot and flee all in a space of a couple breaths, Chewie's first shot takes out one of the more veteran remaining fighters, his second shot pretty badly injures another. 'Rey, get down!' Chewie bellows out as she seems to be pretty intent on this whole getting the Kanjiklub to do what she says nonsense. He's dealt with them enough to know this just is not going to happen.
Zan listens when Rey says to stop. So she doesn't try another shot into that mix, holding back and watching now. Because talk about being green! "Remind me to practice shooting with a blaster pistol," she says wryly. Though she peeks up to watch if any one is coming their way or anything. Ready to shoot, but not doing so at the moment.
As Sesti comes to stand next to Jax there's a slight nod to the woman. "Kanjiklub. Claimed Maz owned them Han Solo's debts. Then decided to claim the bounty on Rey." As a blaster bolt is fired at the jedi there the humm of his saber slicing through the air to connect with the blaster bolt with the angry throm and sends the bolt flying off harmlessly into the air. Then rushing forward the ganger that fired at him, his saber slices through the air and cuts through thugs blaster barrel instead of the man. The hot hiss of the saber on metal and the ting in the air. "Walk away, now."
Jessika hesitates for a second as Rey calls out for everyone to stop. It doesn't work, and not just because her side doesn't listen. Chewbacca keeps nailing shots with his bowcaster, and the white-haired man moves into the mix with a pair of green blades thrumming as they go to work. More than that, there's return fire. Jessika's aim shifts from the thug she'd been shooting at, because he's dashed away in fear with the others. She selects another target on the field, and after adjusting with her hips and maintaining her sight picture, lines up a shot on another one of the thugs. The dark-haired Resistance pilot is not exactly a stranger to a fight on the ground, but this is not her forte. She doesn't do this often. Still, Rey's farther out ahead, and most of the pirates are gone. And Jessika can't convince herself that she'd be shooting in defense so much as in prejudice. Her aim drops, so her sidearm's barrel is trained towards the ground.
As shots are not being fired and chaos ensues, Yuun quickly moves not to attack but moving into a defensive position near a group of workers. His stun saber ignites with a snap-hiss and the silver blade comes to life. Looking at the ensuing fight, Yuun is ready to keep the blaster bolts from hitting himself or those he's guarding at the moment. With Ax busy, Yuun looks to Rey and as she hasn't ordered them to attack, but Ax is attacking he just waits and keeps in a guard stance.
Rey's eyes glance over to her right and she watches some of her associates move in for the attack, she understand why they are... she can't blame them. But even still... she wishes it hadn't had to come to this. Leech is left floating in the air, Rey hadn't even glanced at his poorly thrown knife, and now she's stepping a few more paces ahead and her other hand comes up and out toward the two Mercs she sees with weapons still aimed at them.
With her dark eyebrows furrowed and a squinting glare, Rey reaches out to their hands and rips at their fingers/grips, then slips the Force around their instruments of death and she yanks on them through the invisible energy between them and she...
Rey yanks their blasters from their hands and disarms them. She says nothing else, simply continuing to hold Leech airborne, while she glares at them and waits for them to make their choices now.
Jonn Drayson gazed upon the mayhem, the carnage, the brutality with barely-hidden dismay. His scattering technique with the crate had worked flawlessly, no deaths so far thank the Force, and Rey and Jax's disarmament were canny and very admirable actions that got a grim smile. But other individuals had thrown peace to the wind and it struck the worst kind of chord in the gentle giant. He was hanging out of cover, jaw agape, not even aiming his blaster as he surveyed the defiance of all the Jedi stood for. Maybe he was naive. Idealistic. Old fashioned, even. But he knew his convictions and they had been shaken.
As the Kanjiklub's dissaray dissolves into them just plain firing on the group, Sesti follows as her husband steps forward. As the light saber sweeps out, she draws in a breath, and then there's a grim smile as Jax cuts the blaster and not the man. She catches movement from the corner of her eye, and her hand reaches down to her boot, coming up with a stun baton that she swings at the mercenary, backing him away from them as she draws her blade in her other hand to push the attack if need be.
With the last few of the Kanjiklub thugs either cut down or blown away by Chewbacca, having their blasters cut or pulled from them and leaving them defensless was just the last straw for their dwindling numbers. The hold up their hands, one moving over to help the already injured one Chewie shot. The one Sesti swings at, attempting to stun holds his hands up and back away, terror on his face. "Waoh... Waoh! I give up..." The one left that seems to be more experiances and not at all injured steps forwards, looking to Rey. "Just give us the boss and we'll leave." THe boss Yells at him and he yells back. "I promise no more harm will come to anyone if you just let us go.." Someone was at least smart. If allowed they would start to gather up their bikes, their wounded... probably not their dead and try to be on their way.
Sunglasses peer from behind the rock, "Are they gone? Did we win? Woah is that a dead body... holy bantha stew." He holsters his pistol walking out from behind the rock all confident and cocky. "Did ya see that..." He says to Zan and Rey, "I totally almost shot that one guy..."
Lowering his bowcaster down and putting it away at his back once more, Chewie watches the decimated Kanjiklub members call for quarter and begin backing away. The wookiee is still deadly without his bowcaster, so if they decide to attack while he's unarmored, it's probably still game over for them. Chewie glances to make sure his group is good and all standing before he lets out a long breath as if it had been held in.
Zan gets to her feet now, cautiously. She looks over the carnage, such as it is, curiously. Because it's something she really should see, understan, and decide on. Zan shudders briefly, and then she takes a deep breath, nodding to herself. "Yeah, I saw, Elrych," is all she says. Very quietly.
Jax spins around to point the saber at the thug that Sesti was using her stun baton at but the guy was surrendering to his wife. He presses te button on his saber and the blade disappears. He lets out a breath and searches the group to make sure everyone is safe and hale. He watches with vigilance to make sure the gang leave. He reaches out to put his hand on Sesti's shoulder and squeeze it. Though with dead left behind, there's a heavy sigh. "Don't be impressed with a dead body, Elrych. It crude material and mineral. The life and the force have pass from it. Though the person it was still deserves more respect and honor to be abandoned ontop of the ground. I'll get a spade and put them to rest." The Corellian moving to do just that.
After the chaos is over, Jessika toggles her blaster back to stun and flicks the safety back on with her thumb. Her finger shifts out of the trigger well, and there's a louder scuff as its shoved into its leather holster. There's no injuries on their side, but Kanjiklub didn't get so lucky. She regrets even taking a shot in the first place. Jessika's boots make almost silent footfalls against the ground as she approaches Rey from behind. "You good?" It's impossible to see the woman's face, but she's just held one person in the air and yanked a bunch of blasters around, and that could leave anyone stressed. Or tired. Or something. "Everyone else okay?" This she asks louder while casting a glance around the clearing to see if she missed someone getting injured.
When the attackers come to their senses and begin to flee, Rey does indeed lower Leech back down to the ground. "Never come near me, or my friends again." Rey tells the man, her voice even toned but laced with a clear underlying intention. And before Tasu can even turn around, his Swoop is PULLED toward him, so as he turns around it literally runs right into his knees and legs to amke him buckle over onto it... she pulled it to him, as a 'kindness' to make it easier for him to leave faster.
Rey then turns around and looks over her people and she nods softly once, then starts toward the crew that are here to help rebuild Maz's place. "Lets get this going then... shall we. We have a woman with very high standards to impress here after all." Rey walks toward the crew who've been onlookers in this standoff, hoping to find the crew chief to help get some insight into what she can do to assist with the Force or in any other capacity.
Yuun is keeping guard over a group of workers, though as the Kanjiklub members were surrendering. Bringing his blade down to point at the ground, he thumbs the switch off after seeing that this surrender is for real. He sighs, still they were here to start a fight and honestly they should've thought things through and just not showed, but this is a lesson for them. "Hey you guys should be good now. Let's see what we can do about the clean up." he says to the workers and head over to begin helping with the dead bodies.
Jonn Drayson went back to heavy lifting, such was his augmented strength. No need for a cart. Muscles will do.
Sesti nods at Jax's words, and she goes to the dead left behind, double checking that they are beyond her help, before closing the eyes of the ones that fell with eyes open. She helps the workers that Yuun encourages to come over, to bring the bodies together for burial.
The gang hops on their bikes and rides off, thought Rey might not forget the look that Leech gives her. It's a curious on at the sight of mercy. Almost... respect? It's not spoken on, not that Rey would understand the man who refuses to learn basic. THe loud swoops fade into the distance. Those who look towards the Treeline may see a figure, shimmering in blue, wearing very old Jedi garb. Hey shake their head then whisp into the wind. Perhaps a spirit that died here looking on the newest battle and breed of their kind.
Elrych, "Frowns you're right Jax. I'm sorry." It's sobering really. He turns, moving to help Jonn and the others.
