Echoes on Ice
OOC Date: December 12, 2019
Location: Hoth
Participants: Leia Organa, Merek, Zandra naMuriel, Elrych Cometburn, Tallie Lintra, Telperion Coranon, Nova Korell, K-5Z9, Ektor, Miri Sakir
Hope you brought your thermals, because it's /cold/ out there. Echo Base on the ice planet Hoth was the site of one of the pivotal battles of the Galactic Civil war. However, that was over three decades ago. From the air, the site of the battle is still obvious. The trenches have been filled in by snow, but cannon turrets and the wreckage of AT-AT's show the lines.
Pretty much everything outside has already been stripped by scavengers, but the blast doors of the main hangar still gape open.
A looping distress signal was picked up recently using old Rebel encryption coming from this area, and comparing scans of the surface to ones on file show tectonic disturbances due to glacier movement. Hopefully, there's someone or something worthwhile inside.
Leia had received reports of the distress signal pretty quickly, given the relative proximity in the galaxy and Rebellion era encryptions, and put together a crew to go investigate. Comprised mostly of Black Squadron and Jedi escort, the Ghost set out from Rori to make the series of jumps necessary to bring them to the system, the trip from the hyperspace route to the planets surface comprised mostly of briefings.
"Hoth is cold, but we've been here before. Scavenger crews like to nestle into old bases, though, so be careful for traps... otherwise it should be a relative simple in and out. Jessika is going to get us as close to the base as she can, but long range scans indicate shifts in the glaciers that may have opened up unknown caverns around Echo base..." Gazing around at the assembled, "Be careful, watch each other, and may the force be with you."
She was dressed in far warmer clothing than her usual jedi robes, but they're all still white.. The furlined hood pulled up over her dark hair as the Ghost circles and begins descent down onto the steaming rock out-cropping over looking the former Rebellion base.
Merek has put on his specialist armor, which has a nice suit of thermal within it, the packs placed about upon the belt and armor shifted about with his toolkit while he pulls on the helmet also. There's a shift of the charge on his EL-718 which he shifts up with a look to the weapon. He nods then to Leia, "General," he inclines.
"This planet sucks," Mimi says helpfully, double checking her blaster.
Zan is quiet as she listens to the briefing. The young jedi wannabe and pilot hasn't been on too many ground missions, but she's starting to branch out a bit. She has a flightsuit on, with temperature control, and as they prepare to leave the ship, she offers a nod and a smile to everhone, then on goes the helmet. It might difficult to see that violet hair of hers now, but she's going to stay at a nice all-round temperature. She'll take it. She does concentrate for a few moments as they prepare, reaching for the force instinctively, preparing as best she can. One Zandra na'Muriel, ready as she'll ever be.
Elrych Cometburn has no blaster to check and his black and gold saber rests secured on his utility belt beneath the heavy furs added to his familiar dark green and blue robes. He looks to the others but says nothing as of yet.
Black Five zips out of hyperspace in close formation with the Ghost. <Black Five, reporting in and forming up. Tion, Fiver says that there is a signal on a loop but he hasn't untangled the encryption yet> Captain Lintra banks the X-Wing in for orbital insertion following on the Ghost's trail.
In the cargo bay that's passing for a troop bay, Nova is doing last-minute checks of her equipment. High on the priority list is her antique but durable armor. The thermal elements of the body glove will be extremely handy on this ice cube. She checks the monitor. "You heard the General. Watch your footing, keep an eye on each other. Pick a buddy and stick with them. If you fall into a hole out there, you want someone nearby to help you if they can, and yell for help if they can't. And this place hasn't had power in decades, so make sure you've got your glow rods."
Telperion Coranon kept his blaster at the ready, as he stepped into the biting cold winds of Hoth. "This is a change from Naboo..." He spoke to himself, his words carried away the wind. Finally he had been able to do something of use. He wore a warm naval coat over his uniform, formal even in the cold.
Ektor drawls lazily, <> Once on the ground, the Tionese pirate opts to remain in his flightsuit for insulation as he joins the others in going inside. "This.. might actually be colder than space. It ain't, but it MIGHT be, yeah?"
Inside the hangar, it's dark. The power generators went dead long ago, and occasional piles of snow and ice rest below cracks and divots in the roof. The hangar is occupied by one other ship, a Lambda class shuttle. The boarding ramp is down, and carbon scoring from a firefight is speckled across the wings and nose. The door into what was supposed to be the pilot's ready room is almost entirely blocked by a mound of ice, and another chunk has crushed a pair of T-47 snowspeeders. Fortunately, the tunnels deeper into the base are unobstructed.
"Hey, Elrych, you gonna let me use that thing?" Miri asks hopefully, nudging the Jedi with her elbow as they head in. Hey, why isn't she flying? Oh, right. A family of some kind of lizard-rodent decided to make a nest in the warmth of the life support node and they were still being hosed out. Incidentally, Black Eight still smells like vermin.
This is the first time Leia has been here since before most of the soldiers with her were born. As she strides past the blasted open hangar bay doors, memories flood into her mind, the hail of gunfire and the shouts of soldiers... The ominous ice shifting dangerously beneath their feet as massive AT-ATs crashed forward towards the generator would be little more than a monument if it weren't backed beneath 30 years worth of snowfall and ice.
As they enter the dark hangar, she slaps a glow rod against her palm and holds it up over her head to cast out a wide glow of blue light around her in every direction. Reflecting off the scored hull plating of the Lambda shuttle now wreckage and all the destroyed snowspeeders.. "The comms room is this way, the signal would have originated from there.." Pointing down an adjacent corridor off the main hangar. She's not dead set on leading the way, but she knows her way around.. This base is burned into her memory.
When landed, Merek looks to the weapon with him, and nods to the team, while he begins to make his way from the ship, with a look about to see if there's anything to note in the place. He nods a bit while he begins to make his way to the place Leia mentions also.
Merek's examination of the Lambda would reveal that the shuttle has been partially scavenged. Several critical components are missing, including parts of the engines and hyperdrive, but the computer system is intact and boots up, albeit slowly. It wants a passcode.
Merek Also notices that there are significantly more blaster impacts outside the shuttle than inside, indicating that a small force attacked a larger one who were in the shuttle. There are also drag marks on the deckplates, and dark stains that might be dried blood.
Telperion Coranon says, "This place is fascinating," he says as he looks the abandoned bunker. His Quick was gripped in a black gloved hand. In the academy he had ingested a chemical that allowed his eyes to see in low light conditions. Using that advantage Telperion surveyed the room, looking for anything of note. "If our mission were not urgent, I would enjoy exploring this base."
Ektor swagger-limps inside the frozen hangar, turning an eye slowly around, before dwelling on the wreckage of the iced-in Lambda shuttle. "So, not for nothing? If the rest of trip turns out to be a bust, might be able to salvage some pieces off of that thing, yeah? You think the cannons is still there?" he's non specific as to who he's asking.
Zan glances around, as she listens, having never been here. <<It's the sort of place that does not look like a good vacation spot,>> she comments. Her lightsaber is firmly attached to her belt, and she also has a blaster, neither of which is in hand at the moment. She glances as Leia speaks, her gaze remaining on the general for a long moment, as it starts to sink in. <<I don't suppose sensors are picking up any life signs?>> she murmurs, and follows that up by concentrating, using the Force to try to see where there might be any.
Elrych Cometburn chuckles with a sly grin, raising his wind breaking face mask made in a checked pattern. "You wish..." He says in jest moving further into the hanger. "Wonder whats wrong with that lambda if it hasn't been picked clean yet." Toward the comm area he goes.
Merek looks to the shuttle, and takes a moment to examine it, then he nods a bit while he mentions, "Looks like there was a fight in this place," he says, then he's making a way to wait for folk to find what they're looking about for, before making his way about.
After orbital buffeting the T-85 follows Tion in with Lintra laughing to herself. <Roger that, Tion, no poofing happening here.> Once landed, she pops the canopy of the X-Wing but not before removing her helmet and grabbing a black triple thick knitted cap that she pulls down over her blonde hair; flight gloves, boots and gloves meant for the cold of space do double duty here.
"Fiver, stay put, stay in touch, keep scanning.> With an adjustment to her white synth silk scarf, she is out and over the side of the ship following the trail of the others inside. A blue glow emanates from the other side of the door hanging askew on its hinges. Up ahead, Lintra imagines she sees a little hesitation on Leia's part. Whistling softly to herself at the old signs of intense combat she places herself next to Ektor. "They didn't let this place go easily."
Staying close to Leia, Nova checks corners and is quietly grateful for her nightvision faceplate. <Careful. That ceiling doesn't look too stable,> she coms. <We don't want more of it coming down on us.> She pauses to take a knee and examine the floor, putting a hand into a track there. <What did they call those creatures on this world? Huge, humanoid, meat-eaters? I just found tracks from one of them... and it looks like it got takeout,> she adds, nodding in the direction of a severed arm, still clutching a broken blaster that bears obvious tooth-marks. <Stay sharp. Could still be here.>
Zan scans for life, and then she scans for danger, both rather important. She makes a face that nobody can see, her novice life sense getting all hooked up on the people here with her and not providing any use. Mind you, << Something here, for sure,>> she reports in, pausing at Nova's input. << I have a feeling it would not be a good idea to go that way,>> she says, pointing to where Leia will know is munitions storage. Zan doesn't know what is that way, but she knows it's not good.
<<Kind of hope it's still here. Maybe whatever it is will throw some heat.>> Miri grouses softly into her comlink as she starts to head in the direction Leia indicated, staying ahead of the general.
Ektor answers Nova, "Ice rancors," entirely undeterred by how wrong he is. "Drek! The cannons are gone. Of all the lousy-" he kicks the fuselage of the stripped shuttle in dismay, before looking around with breath making a thick mist in front of his mouth. "So where's this signal, yeah?"
These smaller hallways seem to have held up better than the large chambers, leaving the branching network of hallways mostly navigable. There's a lot less snow as well, but a faint dusting of loose powder covers the metal grid deckplates enough to show large tracks that don't look like any boot, and occasional clawmarks in the walls and some of the doors. Clearly, this base has seen traffic since the battle. Several doors are clearly labeled, including supply storage and the Medbay, and signs and arrows point the way towards the command center and comms room.
Telperion Coranon says, "There are fresh tracks in that snow. They are large, it seems." He spoke as if giving a report, and switched off his Quick's safety even as the others came to the same conclusion. Moving eagerly, Telperion starts forward but stops, as if remembering his duties. Standing in a stiff way, he assumes a guard position near Leia. "Do I have permission to act as a guard, General Organa?"
<That's not the name I remember... Wa-something,> Nova replies, stepping into the tunnel. <By the looks of these walls, one's come down this way at least once. And it wasn't in a good mood.> She pauses to note the labels on the doors into the Medbay and Supply Storage room. <We should hit these on the way back, see if anything's left.>
Leia pauses and glances back at Zandra points towards munitions, "Store rooms... mostly, probably picked clean, but there were portable heating units we jury rigged into the walls, so someone could have definitely set up a base camp in them..." She murmurs, brushing a hand over Nova's shoulder as she passes, moving in the new direction with her glow-rod held out and up over her head. "Someone or something." Clarifying for the sake of those who've asked, "Wampas. They're called Wampas." Nodding to Telperion request to be in a guard position, "And one of them nearly killed Luke Skywalker and Sar Yavok, so if that's what's ahead..."
She brings a finger to her lips and juts her chin forward, moving a little more cautiously, watching where she places her feet as they pass along packed in snow and cracked durasteel plating from shifting tectonic plates beneath the glaciers surface.
Merek looks to the medbay when he comes along to where it is, then he lifts up a weapon to it, "You all notice that?" he asks, lifting his brow a bit in the helmet while he looks to the team, then he places that attention of his back to the place.
Nova hisses and lowers a hand in the 'take cover' signal, pausing beside the Medbay door. <Something's moving. Anybody with a droid, we could use some droid scanning on this room,> she suggests, and pauses to listen again. <Jedi stuff, too. Whatever it is, it's coming towards the door...>
She stacks up and prepares her weapon. Not good.
Elrych glances towards Merek as they move through the clear corridor, silent as he keeps his ear open for those Wampas mentioned by Leia. "It sounds like it's coming from the Galley, yeah." He says in agreement with Nova and Merek. He doesn't pull his lightsaber but, his robes are pushes back so that it is readily available if he deemed necessary to use it.
It is quiet in the cavernous hangar bay, the sound of their own breathing loud. Lintra stops once or twice to listen, turning in place. She whispers to Nova and Ektor, "Do you hear something up ahead?"
Reluctantly, Miri nudges her astromech droid. "Go on ahead, Henibi. We'll be right behind you."
Telperion Coranon readies his pistol, and looks in the direction indicated by the others. Placing his free hand on his side, he feels for his vibrodagger. The cold hilt is easily reached from his hip. Hopefully it didn't come to melee fighting, but he would do what was required of him. He was terrified, but if it came to dying, so be it.
Nova nods tersely to Tallie and Ektor. <Something moving in the Medbay.>
Droid scanning definitely shows two large heat signatures inside the Medbay. The screech of the door opening on long disused hinges elicits a loud roar, and the soft footsteps turn into a pounding charge. The door is slammed off its hinges into the opposite wall, and a pair of large fuzzy bests enter the hallway. Blood stains the white fur around their mouths, and their breath is /terrible/.
Zan didn't bring a droid, not flying and not really used to having them with her. She doesn't hear anything, so she just keeps quiet, watchful. She does take cover when there's that excitement and quiet hushed shushing. << Well, if we want that door open,>> she says, << we can probably manage without going anywhere near it. >> She waits from a go-ahead from the General. <<--- seriously. If Leia says no, Zan won't do it. But otherwise, once folks are ready, she uses her telekinesis to try to open the door from a distance. Apparently successfully.
Ektor rambles on lazily, <Nah Moonbeam, I'm pretty sure they're called ice rancors-> talking too loudly to move with any shred of stealth. Cocking his better ear toward the med bay, he draws out his pistol and agrees lightly, "Yep! Sounds like-> Nova is hissing and gesturing for everyone to get all low and soldier-y. "Oh- right," he mutters. Tallie gets a short nod. "Might be an ice rancor. Err-" a glance aside at Leia, before he corrects, "Also called a Wamper, even if that name ain't as good."
Leia glances back over her shoulder at the sounds of crunching ice and general noise with a furrowed brow. She doesn't point anyone out, they know who they are... shhhhhhh... Nose wrinkling, finger to her lips, hands out as if to say what the actual f----... and then she hears it too.
Turning her hood sharply towards the Medbay doors, which are fairly large to accommodate some of the bigger sentients that called this base home. This is definitely not what they came here for, but if they can acquire some extra hardware while they're here? More the better. Not that she specifically /wants/ to anger a nest of whatever horrible creatures live on Hoth, but.. They have now.
The door tears off and Leia's hand stabs out forward to catch it before it hits the opposite wall, jerking her arm across herself to hurl the heavy durasteel object right back at the wampa trying to barrel out at them. She shouts something, but the crash of metal is pretty loud, so it just gets drowned out.
Merek watches while the entry to the medbay is open, then he lifts up with the pistol and begins to fire on the wampa which is thrown by Leia. The crimson bolts begin to strike into it, twice from the three shots, then he maneuvers to find a position to cover in as well.
"GENERAL! GET DOWN!" Miri calls out as she fires. Her voice is harsh and hoarse -- it gets that way easily ever since it was replaced. Not that the General actually needs protecting, but it's an instinct. She fires three rounds, two of which land squarely in the second Wampa's chest.
The startlement of the roars has Zan back up a couple steps, but that only gives her more room to spy stuff on he ground. And stuff on the ground can be used as a shield. Or to redirect a rampaging wampa. So Zan flicks a wrist, and then sends a piece of scrap crashing after the wampa, even if it's not so big as the medbay doors. She can certainly draw a lesson from the general as she remembers to breathe again.
Elrych is quick to react, his lightsaber flying from it's place on his belt and into his hand. It ignites, showering the mediate area in a neon blue. The deadly hum familiar to those who have seen it before. However, he does not strike with his blade, instead his left hand raises and with a flick of the wrist, one of the crates is sent hurdling towards one of the retreating Wampa's. "They're running!" He informs those around him.
From stealthy walking and frozen breath curling into the air to rapid movement and fire. Lintra lifts her blaster to fire on the second Wampa who at encountering fire has decided that fleeing is the better part of valor. "No way it is not coming back this direction." The red bolts of her blaster join the snap-hiss of Jedi blades and she wounds the animal just at it turns tail.
<Keep back!> Nova shouts, putting herself between the Wampas and everyone behind her in the corridor. Hedging her bets on being able to take a blow from this humanoid slashing machine, she double-taps her carbine's trigger. Despite the monstrosity nearly filling the corridor with its bulk, she somehow misses with the second shot. The first burns into its arm, producing an earsplitting howl, and the thing turns tail! <Okay, now I feel stupid...>
Telperion Coranon moves in front of Leia, his blaster coming up as he does. His three blasts from his Quick all missed the first wampa. Even as it falls dead from the others' attacks, Telperion berates himself on his failure. He watched the living wampa flee. "Should we pursue, general?" he asked, turning to Leia.
"Gah," Ektor complains, with his nose screwed up in distaste. "Smells like burnt dog hair, if the burnt dog hair was growing on a rotten Hutt." He punctuates the words with a trio of blasts added to the firestorm that fills the frozen corridor. When one of the reeking beasts is dropped, Ektor quips to Elrych, "Nah, kid: THAT one is running. *That* one is just lying there." He mutters to Nova, "What you think, Moonbeam- follow it or nah?"
The first wampa is smashed into the wall by a hail of flying debris, then filled with blaster bolts. It is very dead. The second one, taking its own pummeling and deciding that it would rather live, disappears into the tunnels, trailing pained whines and whimpers. For a moment, everything is quiet again. Those with keen enough hearing hear yelling from the direction of the command center and comms room. It's fairly androgynous, with a faint coruscanti accent. "I'm in here! Reinforcements are finally here! I'm saved!"
Leia holds a hand up to stall any attempts to follow the fleeing creature once it's headed away from the direction they are. She really would have rather avoided it, besides which, there's yelling ahead. The lightsaber in her hand deactivates and slides back onto her belt, replaced by the glow-rod held up, once more moving forward, though she's willing to be guarded and let anyone who wishes move ahead of her. "Hello?" Peeking around into the command center, "Are you injured?"
Merek looks to the place of the voice, then makes a way that way while he nods to Leia a bit, noting he will also take point a bit, "You alright?" he asks.
Leia Organa presses the small silver button on her lightsaber causing the bright bright blue energy beam to slide back into the hilt with an electric squeal.
"Come out with your hands up," Miri instructs the owner of the voice. "Nice and slow."
Zan hears the voice for sure, turning to head that way as well. Her lightsaber is also extinguished, though she keeps it in hand, just in case. She promptly moves along with the group, sticking with them. she does pause for a moment to look back behind them, just in case, but she's more or less in the middle of the group, a little behind Leia. And she stays quiet at this point, though her eyes are filled with curiosity.
Elrych glances towards Ektor and just shakes his head, the blue blade sliding back down as it deactivates. He keeps it in his hand even as the voice comes. "What the heck is that? Someone stuck in there?" He steps through and into the command center. "Who's making all the noise in here? Do as the lady says." He's curious, brows raising above his now transition lense glasses.
With raised eyebrows and a shrug at Ektor and Miri, Lintra holsters her blaster. "That didn't sound a bit like a rancor. Not one bit."
<Or a Wampa, either,> Nova realizes, nodding to Tallie. <Looks like we've just found something more important than a shot-up monster. Not that I'd object to trailing that second one down. It might bring more down on us.> She moves ahead, backing up Miri and Leia. <Though if anybody's hurt, now's the time to say so. We've even got a Medbay on hand,> she adds wryly.
Telperion Coranon stands stiffly with his blaster still out, obviously intending to guard the general. He did watch the room with the voice with obvious curiosity, though.
Ektor looks blankly toward the new sound. He agrees with Tallie, "I mean, you're right? But now I kinda hope we open the door and it's some fancy-talking snow beastie." With a lazy shrug and a crooked grin, the pilot ambles toward the new discovery along with the others. Nova's quip earns a short chuckle.
Unlike everything else in the base so far the command center isn't entirely offline. An auxiliary comms console near the doorway is lit up, a cracked and flickering screen indicating that a distress beacon is active. The room seems to have been hit harder than most by the quake, consoles smashed and large chunks of the ceiling having collapsed.
Sticking out of one of these piles of rubble is the upper body of a KX series security droid. Painted in white and grey arctic camo, the droid's photoreceptors still glow in the dark, and it clutches an E-11 blaster rifle, seemingly heedless of the fact that the barrel of the weapon is bent at an almost forty five degree angle and partially crushed. Also rather oddly, the deck and wall around the droid have sets of tally marks etched into them. "No, I'm just trapped and... You're not reinforcements." It's the same voice that called out earlier, and the droid is now staring up at Leia and somehow managing to glare. "I'm not talking to you. You're a member of the Rebel Alliance and a traitor!" The blaster pointed in their general direction clicks once, before it's abruptly thrown at the group of resistance fighters. "...Would you mind coming over here in arm's reach so I can hit you?"
Miri raises her hand. "Can I pee on it?"
<Do you really want to pull your pants down when it's this cold in here, Miri?> Nova asks, with a look at the pilot. <And I hope you brought toilet paper, if you do. Any kind of water freezes, given a chance.>
Leia stares at the droid frozen in... ice.
She just stares at it... squinting even.
Her mouth opens as if she's going to say something, but then she doesn't.
Miri's question breaks up her silence... and she turns towards the pilot with a furrowed brow.. "Yes. You can."
WAIT, "No, no don't..."
Both hands come up to cover her face.
"Someone put a restraining bolt on that thing and break it out of the ice, please?"
"Alright... who's got the bolt..." Elrych says as his lightsaber comes back to life. He glances to Zandra, "Ever done Ice sculptures with a Lightsaber?" Perhaps it's a new sport the New Jedi Order should invent.
Zan just stares, and then she says, "We could leave you here, you know." Ever so helpful, she is, really. Though she then looks to see if she can help by moving debris and such - with - her head tilts to Elrych. "No, but perhaps I should?" she offers, moving to assist.
The short pilot rolls her eyes. "Fiiiine," Miri says, standing back so the folks with the relevant tools can get to work. "I'm totally peeing on it later, though."
Thumbs up out at her side towards Miri.
Merek looks to the droid with a nod to it, "I think it is... From the past," he says.
Well, Nova's the one with the equipment pouches. She shrugs and moves to take a better look at the droid, slinging her carbine. <What is your designation and function, droid?> she asks, her fading Imperial accent prominent now.
Merek looks to the team and nods a bit, "I am going to look at something and I'll comlink you guys," he says, then he takes a moment to lower his weapon while he makes his way back when he is permitted, looking into slicing the shuttle.
Ektor ducks reflexively as a ruined blaster rifle is hurled in a roughly him-wardly direction. "Who-ho-hoa there.. *Easy*, Doom Toaster," the pilot drawls, actually swagger-limping closer to the trapped droid, to the very edge of arm's reach, nearly obliging the request to approach and be punched in the course of peering at the strange droid.
"K-5Z9, KX series security droid. Serial number 582963357. Last member of the Echo Base monitoring team." A chunk of ice narrowly whiffs past Ektor's helmet, and the flailing increases. Nova gets a pointed stare. "...Don't tell me that YOU'RE a traitor too... I"m surrounded by traitors!"
"Not just traitors, smelly traitors who can't even sing good," Miri chirps helpfully.
"None of us are traitors." Leia states pretty plainly, snapping her fingers in the general direction of the KX droid, glaring over at Miri for a half second, then back at the droid. "The Empire is gone, you're a relic from thirty years ago, and we're here to help you get out of the ice. Your options are A. Let us.. or B. Take your chances.. they're not good." Her hands come up and out, "Decision time, Doom Toaster. What's going to be?"
Addressing Ektor and Nova, "Krickie, do you get this thing? What era and what side was it on? Can it be wiped and put to use or do we put it out of its misery?" Lintra ducks at the piece of ice thrown at Ektor and eyes a chunk at her feet.
<And if it's B, Miri and I take turns adding to the ice,> Nova says, unlatching the groinal plating of her armor and setting it aside, then hooking her thumbs into the lower part of her body glove as if preparing to draw it down. She looks conspiratorially at Miri. <So think hard.>
"...The Empire could never be gone. ...But since I am clearly outnumbered, I submit myself as a prisoner of war. K5 folds her arms across her chest, continuing to glare defiantly. "...I'm still not talking, though. You'll get nothing out of me but my name, rank, and serial number!" ...Clearly, all this time trapped in isolation hasn't been the best.
"All in favor of making Doom Toaster the traitor?" Ektor voices, holding one hand up to signify his vote. Grinning aside to Tallie, he speculates, "Empire, sounds like. And sure, any droid can get wiped, if you're smart enough. Or stubborn enough," he amends. After a sharp laugh, he adds, "But looks like Moonbeam and She-wolf got this under control."
Slowly, dramatically, Miri begins to unzip her flight suit. "Anyone got a funnel?"
Merek makes his way back to the team with a nice stick of data which he wiggles to them, "The Andromeda, it was registered to the ISD Devastator. It was twenty people including the snowtroopers, imperial naval troopers, a KX K-5Z9." He then nods a bit, while he thinks about it, "In 5 ABY the tower screwed up, crew mutinied, also someone was kind of also yelling about a droid." He points then to K5, "You're one of the ones that did mutiny right?"
"How dare you! I would never mutiny!" K5's arms uncross long enough for another snowball to fly past Merek and paff against a console. "The others tried to abandon their posts. They neglected to remember that the sentence for desertion in a time of war is death."
"Wait wait Miri. I might know how to turn it OFF unless it stops this drek," Lintra's voice is far more menacing than dramatic though she up nods and smiles at Ektor. More loudly, she says, "We could help you with that!"
Leia is an expert in hiding grins, she's done it so long. Someone said something humorous? She rubs her face to work the tension out of her jaw, she is definitely not grinning. "Stop..." To Miri, shaking her head.
That last part from the Droid. She nods sharply to Tallie, "Turn it off. We'll see about fixing the programming when we're back at base..." Or at least off this planet.
Miri Sakir looks a bit dejected and slowly zips back up.
<Sorry, General,> Nova says quietly, drawing her body glove back up from her thigh plates. She's plainly not a Clone or a Stormtrooper; they don't wear non-regulation blue athletic briefs. <Still need that restraining bolt?>
Elrych is silently concentrating on cutting away the droid from its icy trap. "Huh... I wonder if we could get that Lambda working again." Said to Merek and the others. He's not commenting on the prospect of the droid being peed on, though... he did feel the urge starting to build to relieve himself as well. They'd be back to the Ghost soon.
"My dad had a model that wasn't very different than this thing. Said he found it in a dump," Lintra explains to Nova and Ektor before moving up next to Elrych. "General? I'll try but it might still have some defenses. I need an insulated screwdriver in case it gets any ideas. Ektor?" She calls back. "Got any tools on you or an idea where I can find some?"
Zan is helping Elrych, quietly. She eyes the droid, who doesn't even appear to care there's lightsabers near enough to do all kinds of crazy things. She is quiet at this point though.
"Fine, Fine, I already said I surrender as a prisoner of war." The flailing and throwing ceases, and the droid's sullen glare resumes.
"What happens if you shoot a droid with a stun bolt?" Ektor answers Tallie's question with a question. "Does it work like an ion blast, you think?"
Nova, getting her plating back together, goes silent for a long moment at Tallie's mention of her father. Her voice is a bit gruffer when she speaks again. <Did your father mention where the Off switch is? That would be very handy about now.> She kneels next to the trapped droid. <Hold still. I'm installing a restraining bolt. Then we'll get you out of here. But I'd put on a happy face after. Your Imperial friends didn't come back for you. You'll need to make some new friends now.>
"If you turn me off, you have to carry me out of here." K5 remains still, except obligingly tilting her head out of the way to allow the bolt to be applied. "Oh, you can't see it right now, but I'm the happiest happy that ever happied. Not like being alone for thirty years has done some strange things to my personality matrix. ...How'd YOU find me, anyway?"
Merek looks then to K5, "... Did you send a beacon for assistance?" he asks, then he notices that the droid looks like he's too in the snow to do it, and he looks to the team, "... I think we should be fast," he adds. The weapon lifted back up.
Leia glances back down the way they'd come with her commlink coming up, <<"Jessika, get the Ghost prepped, we're bringing a KX droid we found frozen down in the command room.">> The pilots crisp voice replies after what could easily be considered a pregnant pause, <<"Huh, so nothing even remotely useful is what you're saying? Sorry General.. I'll have the ship prepped.">> Her general, and mutual, disdain for droids is well documented.
Leia fixes her comlink to her belt and stares over her shoulder at the droid, "An old rebel alliance distress signal, which, if you think about it..." The thought actually has her grinning and pointing at the mouthy droid, "If it weren't for those traitors there's no telling how long you'd have stayed frozen, but from the scans we collected? Wouldn't have been long." Motioning around, cracked durasteel, fissures, "This whole base is about to get swallowed by the planet... Once we're back at our base, we'll see about getting you looked after, for now, it's time to go."
<That would never happen, no,> Nova agrees, affixing the bolt on the droid's plastron. <Okay, you're bolted. Let's get you out of here.>
She looks to Leia. <General, shouldn't we check a few more of these rooms? No telling how much the Imperials left behind when they pulled out.>
She looks back down at the droid. <Just be a second. Oh, and the thing about peeing on you if you said no? I lied. That's just disgusting.> She turns to take a look at the rest of the room, and what it might hold.
"I didn't turn on anything. The base computer was a kriffing asshole until it finally ran out of power and wouldn't talk to me." The bolt clicks onto K5's torso, and her photoreceptors blink. "Suddenly, I'm feeling much more cooperative. And you really don't want to go in medical, it's full of Wampas. There's even a big one that only has one arm...."
"Reason I need an insulated screwdriver, Nova. Bah, with the restraining bolt we should be good. It just might talk someone to death before they get to base. /I'm/ returning to my lonely X-Wing. Oh, poor me!" Lintra quips and turns to do just that.
