Background
Most Gungans grow up on Naboo, as Gungan culture remains a thoroughly insular affair. Por Por, however, did not grow up on Naboo.
Snatched from his home planet as a wee tadpole, Por Por was whisked off into a life of bondage and slavery. It was in these mean ships, mines, and factories that his intense hatred of the galaxy was forged. As a teen he learned skills as a chef during a rare (and admittedly brief) stint as a slave for a wealthy eccentric. After this he was tossed back into the hard labors, doing ten years in the mining worlds before being trafficked by none other than Wodi Corcer. For reasons known only to the smuggler himself, he freed Por Por Frils from the bondage of slavery and made him his copilot.
And left him for dead. After his abandonment on the fairly hostile planet V'shar, Por Por survived by embracing the harsh customs of the locals, including their religion. After three years following the teachings of Jydan, the angry gungan had finally found peace with himself and a religion that provided him with not only peace but justification for continued violence against a galaxy he felt had deeply wronged him.
