Participants: Jax Greystorm, Qadira Suuryet, Sesti Greystorm, Waywards, Tamsin Cas (guest appearance)
[Jax Greystorm]
As Kadi's Baudo Yacht broke orbit of the City Planet, the planet was cast in a smoky haze as that could be traced to a great torrent of smoke rising from beneath the city. Jax angled the Wayward Heart away from the First Order's Citadel making sure to stay far way from it's flight space. Though the towering base loomed large off in the distance well protected and ominous as anything else built by the Order. Jax slipped in with a mixture of traffic going to one of the nicer shopping districts on the top level before slipping away in a mixture of traffic. Then before long the Wayward Heart found itself above a great hole that the smoke seemed to rise out of like a great chimney. The forward thrust cut, the Corellian, began the descent down a long tunnel. Jax then began to make broadcasts talking to somebody he knew with a bombastic voice. It took a bit to smooth things over as the Yacht made its descent down the wide tunnel.
The Wayward Heart had landed at the same landing port that the jedi had landed at no so long ago. The air was breathable here but everything smelled of smoke. There was a hanger here that a group seemed to mill about. Jax wearing his robes insisted in disembarking first. A large Beasilik with animated gestures met with Jax. They talked for several moments before the Beasilk through all four arms in the air and stormed away. Then a group of street toughs appears to mill around the Wayward Heart. Jax pulled the com unit up, "Jex isn't happy you two are here. Something about can't guarantee protection for your vip butts but is thankful for the supplies. His folks will keep the Heart unmolested."
They made there way through the district the closer they came to the fire the more smoked damaged the terrain became the warmer it was and the more people moving away from them. The group moved to the City Balony. Down below the ground was blacked and the fire raged. There were fire fighting teams moving all around of different species, proficiency, and technology. The First Order was even involved in the fire but keeping it away from their assets and the alien riff raff refuges to make it to the upper levels.
[Sesti Greystorm]
Sesti has opted for the long, hooded, duster that she's kitted a bit to her own needs. Secret pockets hold her medpac supplies, and her slim sword is over her back. Her tall boots have her stun baton and vibroblade, but the fancy looking cane has been left behind. She leaves the hood down at first, but as they come closer to the fire, she pulls it up, and pulls the breather over to filter out the smoke. She stands still beside Jax as she looks over the lower crater in flames. One of her gloved hands brushes knuckles against his, but otherwise she maintains a look of co-workers.
[Qadira Suuryet]
Kadi simply goes to the void armour. She's added a couple modifications to it, in case she needs to do any computer work, but she likes breathing cleaner air than here. She's only just getting her lungs back in decent shape after too long spent on Nar after all. Besides, better she stays safe, or her brainpower will be of no use at all." She looks over at what is there, her face contorting in a scowl. "This would be such a fun rebuilding project, if we could actually do anything about it." she mutters. "Step one though is to try to put the fire out. I imagine there are folks somewhere trying to keep it raging though."
[Jax Greystorm]
Jax had chosen to use the jedi rebreather he carried in his utility belt. He stood with his hood hiding his features as he looks out at the hellish nightmare of a landscape. <There are several teams. The people we left the ship with operate one. They have converted four AT-ST with water canons and fire suppressant tanks mounted on them. The small squadron is good enough to divert and re-route the fire. Those that can evacuate are doing so to the higher levels and putting the resources of the higher level under strain. Those who can't perish.> His voice sounded hollow and emotional less through the com unit of the rebreather. Though his wife and close friend knew from the way he stood and held his shoulders even in his robes this was not the case. <"I believe the solution would involve massive amounts of fire suppressants and denying the fire fuel. I have no idea how to do either or logistically get them here."> He meant behind enemy lines. <Locals are trying to fight it as best they can.>
[Sesti Greystorm]
<Locals are trying to fight it,> Sesti agrees through the coms, but her hood shifts in a barely perceptible nod towards the First Order troops down there. <But what about them? Are they actually trying to fight it? Or are they just pushing it towards the locals for them to take care of it? And clear as many out as they can?> The fingers on one hand slowly clench and then release one by one. There's too much happening below her to process quickly. She watches a group following a pair of the AT-STs with water cannons on their own backs, trying to put out the smaller flames that still persist after the heavier dousing.
[Tamsin Cas]
"Yes, over here!" A small clutch of refugees were making their out of one of the alleys billowing smoke, a trio of adult Bothans and two children. The voice they looked towards was calling from a small aid station which had been set up mostly out of the way of the foot traffic. Supplies were clearly cobbled together, but there was water, and blankets at least. The woman calling was not tall, her golden streaked hair tightly braided so as not to set herself on fire, likely, dressed as if she would much rather be off on some forest adventure. Her hands were cleaned and gloved, but every other part of her was smudged from her face and hair to her clothes, "Come, the children first!"
[Qadira Suuryet]
Kadi is quietly studying the situation, listening to both Jax and Sesti as they speak. She's not short, but not tall either, and on the shorter side of average. There's a small ID10 droid sitting above her right shoulder. Her voice also sounds odd, with the void armour helmet on. "Redirect the fire back towards areas that are already nothing but ashes. Nothing to feed it there," she says quietly. The souper-troupers that are there are studied, and she shrugs. "Suppose so long as they're not actively encouraging it, that doesn't matter quite so much. But they're out of our control. We can only do what we can, right?"
[Jax Greystorm]
No sooner than the Bothans refuge family makes it from the alleyway and to Tasmin Cas' aid station. Then appears a tall Cathar male with orange fur and light colored stripes. His fur singed and singed and burnt away at places leaving charred flesh, especially along his right arm, hand, and shoulder. The Feline Humanoid is unable to contain manage his pain as he stumbles and falls as Jax catches him. The creature lets out a growl of pain and his left claw digs into Jax's shoulder and the Cather grimaces. Then fighting back, "Please save my wife and cubs. They're trapped and going to burn." Jax demands, "Where?" There's nothing but a growl from cather. Jax's eyes narrowing. <Oh. I will go.> Then the massive Feline male has collapsed in unconcious. Unfortunately Jax missed what the others were saying for the moment. There insight will be useful in the quite moments later when he writes reports.
[Sesti Greystorm]
As the Cathar approaches, Sesti is already turning towards him. While Jax lowers him to the ground, she's already reaching inside her coat pockets, pulling out what she needs without hesitation. Her first action is to find a good vein on an unsinged part of his arm, and she starts fluids into him from a small pack. As she pulls out another pack to attach to the first her eyes are assessing his burn damage, and once she has what fluids she has on her going (which will run out quickly) she pulls another hypo from her coat, moving down along one of the biggest burns on his side to clean it and lay bacta patches over it.
[Tamsin Cas]
Tamsin, who was already hustling the small family group towards a place where they could sit, had set one of the children, a male down on a box, wrapping a blanket around him before she took a knee, moving quickly to help to clean his face and ensure that his mouth and nose had not been seared by the heat and smoke. She was handy with the bacta spray, and the little man was soon curled in against his mother, being tended by the others that had chosen to work at the aid station. It was clear that very few likely had formal training, but equally clear that they all had heart and courage and compassion. These were their friends and families and neighbours and they were helping each other as they wished to be helped. The second, a small younger and smaller female received Tamsin's attention, but she seemed more dazed than damaged.
There was, though no rest for the wicked, as the Cathar stumbled out and Tamsin's eyes turned in that direction, seeing, for the first time, the trio of new arrivals. They seemed, at least to her eyes, to stand out more for the fact that they were //clean//, than for the fact that they were armored and robed. What Tamsin made of those robes was impossible to say, as she sprung to her feet, ducking into the aid tent to grab up a bag of supplies that she quickly ran over to where the cathar was being treated. She was back on her knees, as she made a quick assessment of his needs, not even bothering to introduce herself, as she pulled supplies from her bag. Introductions were for a time when people were not dying. "I can stabilize him." That would leave the other woman to work on the burns which were the most dire concern. A moldable oxygen mask was soon applied, and Tamsin switched out the bags of fluids as they depleted. She did turn to call towards the tent, "We need a stretcher! He can't stay out here!"
[Qadira Suuryet]
Kadi is an engineer and she does. NOT. do the squishy stuff. Nope. "I'm with you," she says to the robed guy, deliberately not using any names. Because someone's been training her well or something. "Let's see if there's a way to make it safer. Or something." She looks to the medical area and shudders. As for being clean? Well, that only means they've just arrived. It won't last. Already the smoke and soot is starting to make its colouration felt. "Where are we going, and what do you need me to do?" That said, she moves towards Jax, and where she thinks they might be going.
[Jax Greystorm]
With the Cathar stabilized and a stretcher called for, it's mere moments before a stretcher arrives along with another medic. It was the competent but stim addicted Bith nurse that Tasmin Cas had seemed to adopt in her work down here or maybe the Bith had adopted Tasmin. He or She had worked hard to keep people alive and didn't seem the type to ask too many personal questions. As the 'orderlies' load the Cathar on the stretcher. "Careful, careful you lunk heads, we just got him stabilized. I'll take care of him. " Then as the orderly go to carry the Cathar away. The Bith stops and eyes Sesti's supplies, "If you got some extra bacta patches to spare and some a couple of stims. We're running low as in out. We would be grateful. " Tasmin would know this to be true.
<"I hear you."> He says to Kadi. Then stepping to the edge of the balcony. He peers down for a moment. Then he summons the force around him and he points down into the depths to block off apartments a couple levels down currently in the path of the flames. Though another tenderal of the fire had cut off block between here and there a team of locals were fighting the fire. It explained how the Cathar had gotten burned.
[Sesti Greystorm]
Sesti doesn't spare a glance for the Bith nurse as she moves along the burn path across the Cathar's body. "I will barely have enough for this patient," she replies as she lays down another patch. "But this is part of what we are here for. To check and see where help is needed. We have a wealthy patron who wishes to send supplies to places," her head jerks slightly towards the aide tent, "such as yours." The efficiency and competency of her movements indicate that she is probably well acquainted with the race against time treatment of critical injuries. She doesn't actually pull out any stims for the patient, but she does pull out a vial of blood replacer labeled with the Cathar's base species blood type and hand it over towards Tamsin to add to the fluids.
[Tamsin Cas]
"I brought all of the supplies we have. And I am not going to strip them from anyone else. We're all making due with what we have to work with." Tamsin, who looked up from her work long enough to send a sharp look towards the medic, reached out to accept the bag from Sesti with a much less curt, "Thank you," before immediately putting it to work. "Radio the clinic up at Calocour. Let them know we'll be moving him and the rest that just came in on the next wave. Hopefully, they'll have more bacta there." Tamsin did as much as she could, sparing another bag of fluids, before she hunkered back, "Help can't come soon enough, but there are more that need us."
[Qadira Suuryet]
Kadi grins at Jax, though he can't see it, no dobut, with the armour on and all. She nods, as she steps out, and takes a look to see where he is pointing. Her gaze goes to the fire, where it can be seen, and to the buildings about, both still standing and not so much. "That building right there needs to be pulled down, is my best guess," she says first. "It can't be stable, judging by the tilt it's got. Probably best if possible to take it down before it falls on someone's head." That's obviously a side note. She then looks to the other side of the street, and says, "Buildings with this design often have a side tunnel sort of addition, put in while they're finishing up the electrical and so forth. If we can get into that, its dangerous, but it's also probably the safest from the fires, at least to get around to the buildings we need to be at," she says. There's a hint of worry in her voice, of course. This is not exactly safe, nor is it pretty. But there is also determination. Theoretically not just a pretty face.
[Sesti Greystorm]
Jax nods to Kadi at her suggestion, and takes the lead down the way she indicated. Sesti finishes with her bandaging, looking up in time to catch the carefully composed features of the Bith, hiding their disappointment at the denial of more stims for the clinic. "You can transport him? I have done what I can with my field kit, I would like to follow my companions to help his mate and cubs if you can take care of him." She pulls back to her knees to pick up any wrappings from her supplies and stuffs them in an outer pocket of her duster. She glances over to Kadi and Jax, watching which way they go so she can catch up, but most of her attention stays with Tamsin to make sure she isn't needed first.
[Tamsin Cas]
Tamsin, too, rose to her feet, the volunteers who had come with the Bith, having learned their business too well, in the wake of the destruction raging within Coruscant, took the Cathar away with them, moving him to the tent to await transport away. As for Tamsin herself, she moves to where Sesti was now standing, "He will be tended to. But there may be more than only that one family. And I think more hands will make lighter work."
[Qadira Suuryet]
Kadi follows Jax, as he takes point. As they get to one building, she points out the entrance to the back hall/tunnel she was talking about. It's easy enough to open, but inside it's dark and narrow. There's been debris and dust that's blown in, a couple of holes in it, in places, but it's mostly intact, and will lead to the other side of the building, an hopefully to the other side of that fire spurt that's threatening. Hopefully. "This way should lead to that building," she says. She does gaze back behind them every so often, at least enough to see Sesti and the other coming along after them. "I think we got help coming too."
[Sesti Greystorm]
Giving a curt nod to Tamsin's suggestion, Sesti turns to follow Kadi, lifting a hand to the engineer to indicate that they are coming. The dark coat won't show the soot that much, but it also won't be clean for very much longer. She crouches slightly as she walks, the closeness and debris setting her on high alert as she looks around for anything possibly falling. She looks back over her shoulder once to see if the others are following down the tunnel.
They don't have to walk far before they can feel the increasing heat radiating through the metal of their walkway, and Sesti adjusts the mask on her face. The light that comes through various holes flickers more as they come closer to the fire spurt, and the zabrak looks to Kadi as the engineer leads them.
[Tamsin Cas]
Tamsin, who seemed quite fine with following a group of unknown people into danger, was soon inside the tunnel. She had no rebreather herself, but as she had said outside, she used what she had. And for now, she had only her own senses. At least her vision was not impaired, even in the low dark of the tunnel. She moved with care, eyes darting everywhere, sticking close to the Zabrak. Which was likely a good thing, as they rounded a corner and she reached out, rather rudely, and grabbed Sesti's coat, pulling her away from it appeared some old lengths of wood had been laid out. A building project never completed? . Easy enough to walk over, right? But possibly not, "There's a collapse there, the wood won't support us. Let's stick close to the wall here, until we catch up." Tamsin did not hold the Zabrak longer than needed. because that //would// be rude.
[Qadira Suuryet]
Kadi winces as the temperature changes, though at least within her void armour she's good to breathe, and good for many things. And at least the glitter is getting covered over by dust and soot. "Might get that stupid glitter out yet," she mentions. She waits for Sesti and the stranger to catch up, nodding slightly. A step, and then another, and unerringly, Kadi points to a lever at one side, which will open the way out. "Should be right - yes, here." A nod. And she reaches for the lever to pull it, hopefully letting them out and onto the street. "If I'm right, the building should be in sight here. And not far."
[Sesti Greystorm]
Sesti had been going for the fastest, "easiest" way to get through the smoke and heat, and is surprised at the sudden yank. She automatically begins to reach for the woman's hands to 'escape' their grip when she realizes what Tamsin is talking about. Looking again at the wood, she nods, and moves to the side to step a little more delicately around the hole. She doesn't look down as she does so, but once beyond safely, she turns to make sure the woman is safely past then says quietly, "thank you" before moving on.
As they approached the door and the lever, more smoke has been blowing in through the holes and crevices, obscuring their view. Jax is almost invisible in the smoggy conditions, and he steps to the side to look out a hole in the wall to assess the situation while Sesti steps up to the lever. She braces herself as she wraps her fingers around it, then, at his 'all clear' nod, she pulls down. For a moment, nothing seems to happen. Then it gives suddenly, yanking down so fast that it almost throws her balance, and she sways a little in her stance. The door, however, doesn't open as quickly as the lever, and there's a grinding as it almost gets stuck halfway open. The flow of smoke increases with the opening of the door, and soon they are looking into a haze of flickering yellow and orange through the blurring black billows of smoke. The chaos of screams shouted instructions seems to suddenly burst on them, having been muted by the walls, and Jax's head swivels before he darts across the road to the apartment he had identified earlier, where a nearby building has collapsed sideways across the front, blocking the windows and door.
Pulling up her goggles as the smoke increases, Sesti follows and pulls up, looking at the beams and twisted metal that block the way. "No wonder he was so frantic," she murmurs. "K, can we pull anything from that window," she points up, "without it tumbling down? I think we will have to climb up the outside..."
[Tamsin Cas]
"Welcome," Tamsin offered as the trio made their way through the tunnels. This might be life and death, but there was still room for politeness. As Tamsin came out of the tunnel into the not so great light, her eyes blinked, the membrane over her lids flickering before they fell back to protect her from the smoke, her attention quickly turned to the scene playing out before them. The building, the debris, the collapse, the smoke and the remains of the fire. "The fire is not close, but it will return soon enough. Whatever ew can do to get in there as quickly as we can, we had better do it now. Between the fire damage and the water softening the masonry, we don't have time to dawdle."
[Qadira Suuryet]
Kadi nods to the comment about not dawdling. She totally heard Sesti as well. "Let's see," she says. Engineer powers activate? If only. But at least, Kadi moves a couple steps forward, so she can see. "We will have to go up the outside, and it won't be easy," she says as she continues to assess the situation. "But - I think that beam there is still solid, and if that one under it is not on fire or broken, it will work. They can be used as the base, to get to the bit that starts a bit up - the eaves that look like it's hanging by a thread. It'll need a quick secure, but then it should get us up to that window." She's flying by the seat of her pants, but she's got a fair path up. "I think I might be able to climb up and secure that bit, even."
With that said, Kadi starts climbing up. It's not graceful or pretty, and she scrabbles a time or two, but she manages to start making her way up.
[Sesti Greystorm]
Sesti is also looking up as Kadi explains what she can do, and the path she indicates. She lets the engineer goes first, then climbs in her wake. The zabrak goes a little to the side of Kadi's path, to try and flank to offer physical assistance. As she pulls her weight to standing and begins to reach up with her left hand, the whole chunk that she was standing on tears away, and her eyes widen as her reaching hand grasps desperately, and finds something to hold onto. She hangs on with one hand breathlessly looking around. "Keep going, K, I am... right behind you..." she says. Jax looks up when he hears the ripping and tearing, but seeing that Sesti has caught herself, he looks back to the street, making sure that they aren't interrupted by any rowdy folks.
[Tamsin Cas]
As The Redhead began to climb her way up, and The Zabrak followed, Tamsin came up behind. She would soon have to try to make her way up as well, perhaps and that might end poorly. She was no skilled mountaineer, that was for sure. So perhaps it was that momentary caution that left her waiting, trying to gauge how the other two were moving so that she could find the safest route up behind them. The Redhead moved well enough, and that was to the good. The Zabrak's movements though, though, that twinged that sense of something off, something wrong and Tamsin reached out without knowing how or why, and as Sesti reached out, scrambling, the building seemed to shift, rather serendipitously, an old pilon rumbling down, giving her a handhold if she could reach it. Once she was sure there was nothing for it but to climb, Tamsin started up, trying to allow her senses to help guide her hands and her feet. The gods knew she did not need to fall down into another well or some other pit she was sure was waiting for her if she should ever try to do something athletic.
[Sesti Greystorm]
Although, right behind Kadi is easier said then done. As she pulls herself up and gets a grip on another pipe, it pulls out of the wall, and her other handhold slips. She pulls her feet up in front of her and then pushes away from the wall towards the street so that she doesn't impale herself and rolls. At least she wasn't too far up, and the duster will at least keep her from skinning her elbows and knees. She brushes off her hands and clears her throat. "I am fine, do no worry, K"
[Qadira Suuryet]
Halfway up, Kadi has to get a bit of help from Button to secure the pipe. It won't last for more than an hour tops, but it will at least last long enough for them to get up, and hopefully back. Kadi's climbing is such that she's not really looking, though when she hears Sesti's voice, she does look, briefly, eyes widening. She swallows, and then continues up to the window, pausing to look inside and see whether she can get there. As she arrives, she hears a soft crying sound and she promptly turns her head, trying to figure out which way it's coming from. "That way," she says, pointing. Hopefully she's not up here by herself!
[Tamsin Cas]
As Tamsin climbed, taking as slow a steady a track as she could, the rubble seemed to shift and move around her. Not in great swatches of material, and yet, where she climbed, the debris seemed to firm around her. Perhaps it would help to make their climb back down more stable. Sesti and Kadi were already gone and off into the building by the time Tamsin made it up, but that did not stop her from following after them. if nothing else, they would need more hands for trying to keep hold of the family for the trip back out.
[Qadira Suuryet] Kadi pauses, waiting for ... okay, the stranger. "Uhm, hi," she says, peeking out the window to make sure Sesti is still there. Once that's confirmed, she turns to head left down the hall. "I heard something, coming from this way," she says. There's a nod with that, as she watches where she steps, making her way over a fallen beam, around one too high to climb to a little hideyhole in a corner. Where there are --
[Sesti Greystorm]
It's decidedly darker in the hallway, but once their eyes become accustomed, they can see a door slightly ajar where the sound is coming from. When Kadi opens the door, there's what appears to be an amorphous, shifting, blob in the corner. Closer inspection reveals a furred foot sticking out from under it. As debris crackles under their feet, the Cathar mother suddenly pulls the wet blanket she had put over herself and cubs down to look at them, her eyes wide and already a warning snarl gathers in her throat at the intruders.
Meanwhile, outside, Sesti attempts another climb but barely manages to get a foot from the ground when the pieces give way and she comes tumbling down. Giving a growl, and showing an uncharacteristic burst of temper, she kicks at the debris at her feet, sending a chunk of rock across the roadway. Her eyes follow it in satisfaction, and then as she turns to look back up towards the window, her glance catches on something... giving a quick check to her husband, she crosses quickly, and finds a long, strong, stretch of hose that burned off and was left behind by the retreating fire fighters earlier. Pulling it back with her, she takes a hold of the nozzle, hefts it to test it, then, bending her legs to get power into her underhand throw, tosses it up through the window for Kadi and the stranger to find, the end of the hose still down near her feet.
[Tamsin Cas]
Thankfully, Tamsin was not much affected by the darkness in the collapsing building and she moved with care, but without too much trouble, following the other woman's lead as Kadi continued on towards the sound she had picked up on. Once thy were inside the room, Tamsin pulled up short, not wanting to startle the woman. Too well she knew how dangerous a cornered mother might be, turning so that the mother could see the bag she was still carrying and the meducal symbol there, "I am Tamsin. This is..." she stumbled, but only for a moment, filling in for the name she did not know, "A friend. Your husband made it to our aid station, he told us where to find you. We have a way out, if you will come with us."
[Qadira Suuryet]
Kadi's hands come up, showing they are empty. "We are here to help," she says swiftly. A glance to Tamsin, and a smile. "Gadget, I'm Gadget." Just that, and then she says, "we can help you get to your husband. He's receiving medical aid." There's definitely an agreement with Tamsin's concern about a cornered mother. "Please, we mean you no harm." Not any here, anyway. They're just here to help.
[Sesti Greystorm]
The Cathar woman pauses, the snarl dying away slowly as she listens, and her eyes focus on the medic symbol. After another long moment, she finally lowers the blanket, and three, smaller, bodies are all pressed up close against her. She stands the two older ones on their feet, and then cradles the smallest one in the crook of her arm as she stands. "Is he going to live? He was burned, I saw him outside trying to get to the house..." her eyes are hopeful and terrified at the same time as she looks between them, nudging the children towards the door.
[Tamsin Cas]
"We have done everything that we can for him here. He was stable and his burns were treated. I requested that he be transported to one of the clinics we are trying to work with in the Calocour level." Tamsin did not move to gather up one of the children, even as they were set on their feet. Instead, she again took a knee, holding out her arms, but allowing the mother to instruct the child to come to her or not, "The building is unstable, and the fires are still burning. We need to get you out as quickly as we can." Turned as she was, she was not able to see the hose being thrown up. Hopefully it would be caught by the much more alert engineer.
[Sesti Greystorm]
One of the children takes their mother's hand as she walks forward, and the third stands and walks in front, trying not to be afraid. But then the building shakes a bit as one of the ATSTs down the street takes a step forward and the hurtle into Tamsin's arms. "We should hurry," the woman hisses, her questions answered as best they can be. She moves out into the hall, and looks down to follow their footprints to the room they came in. Her furry eyebrows raise as she notes the nozzle on the floor. "You climb up a hose that isn't attached to anything? You are... skilled indeed."
[Tamsin Cas]
Thankfully, Tamsin was steady on her feet as she managed not to get bowled over by the Cathar missile that launched itself at her. She reached down, scooping the child up and setting them on her hips. It was not much different from how the mother herself was holding her youngest. The hose was...new. Ah, a way down perhaps? "No, we scaled the rubble outside. But we came with one other." Tamsin looked towards Kadi, "Can we tie it off somewhere?" She had her hands full with frightened toddler.
[Qadira Suuryet]
Kadi flashes a grin and shakes her head. "Not that talented," is her wry response. Since her arms are not full of childing cub, she moves to grab the hose, moving to at least try to wrap it around something. "I think this is as good as we can get," she offers, after a moment. She moves to peek out, making sure it's still Jax and Sesti down there. "Okay, I guess we're as ready as we ever will be. "I can go with you, little one, if you are willing?" That to the kid who is on their feet. It's an offer, as Kadi tries to figure out how to get down. "Ma'am," she turns to the Cathar mother. "Would you like to go down first?"
[Sesti Greystorm]
The two figures below look up as the line, or hose, starts jumping around as Kadi wraps it. The one in Jedi robes keeps their attention on the hose, while the other shifts a little, eyes upward, but occasionally looking around them. There's another shudder as an ATST step reverberates and the shouts and sounds of water hissing on flames comes closer. Sesti doesn't bother to tell them to hurry up, because she doesn't think they need to hear it, but her hold on the end to keep it from flapping around is encouragement enough.
The younger one holding onto their mother's hand looks up wild eyed, but the mother gently, and firmly, passes their hand towards Kadi. "I will go first, and you will come right behind with this person... Gadit," she tells her child, trying to remember the name given her. She looks over to Tamsin, who's limpet still clings to her, especially as another tremor shakes them. Then, giving a look to the hose wrapped around and tied, she shifts her small one so they are clinging around her neck in front of her, and lets herself out and over the edge. She keeps her feet planted on the crumbling debris of the walls, and lowers herself carefully to the ground, Sesti moving out of the way as she gets close. She then stands, looking up as Sesti moves to help anchor the bottom of the rope again. Jax's attention to the hose is unwavering.

Tamsin, who did not try to dislodge the child, said only, "You hold on, now, just as tight as you can. We're going to be down and safe soon, I promise you." And then Tamsin took her turn, following the mother and her child down. When Tamsin moved, she clung to the hose with one hand and the child with the other, trusting her feet to set themselves in the right place. She moved as quickly as she dared but that hose was a saving grace and she did not have to risk tumbling to her death. As soon as she touched down, she cleared the area just below.

Kadi reaches on purpose to her helmet, taking it off now. Stupid, maybe. "Okay," she says to the cub. "You grab hold and hold on to me, okay. We're going to make it down." The helm has to be closed again, because Kadi has no other place to put it, but the kidling at least got to see there's a person in there. She follows the example the other two set, and cautiously makes her way down. It's wobbly, and precarious, and probably skquishy. But the void armour does deal with the air filtration as she goes down, and she manages to survive. At the bottom, she wobbles, and drops to her knees, then both hands find the ground too. They're down and safe, but Kadi's arms are hurting and she's more than a little bit tired. "I am so not meant for this," she mutters. "Next time, remind me to send - uhm - uhm - someone else." Okay, she meant Ax, but she's not naming any names at this point. After a moment, she looks up, and asks, "Are we all down, and okay?" Please gods and stars, let there not be anyone else in this building. Please.

As Kadi sets the child down, and then goes down to rest, Sesti lets go of her anchor. Another tremor causes Jax to turn, and he nods to Sesti and Kadi, "we have to move, now," he tells them. "I have her," she says, reading his mind as he goes back to lead the mother, cubs, and Tamsin back the way they came. As soon as he lets go with the force, there's a clattering, and the nozzle of the hose comes bouncing out of the window and down towards them. Looking up, as the hose begins to pile on Kadi, Sesti brings her arm up, then down in an arc that matches the nozzles momentum, so she can push it to the side, slamming it into the rubble a few feet from Kadi's head. "Come on, Gadget," she says with a grin, pushing aside the hose and reaching down with a hand. "We will tell your husband how you outclimbed me today. He will be proud." She gives a wink to Kadi, and gets an arm under the woman's shoulder if needed to help her towards the tunnel they used to come here.

Kadi squawks as the hose comes down, starting to pile on her. That thing is heavier than she realized perhaps. She jumps as there's suddenly a Sesti there, and then she gets to her feet, carefully. With Sesti's help. "He - will be proud, I think you're right, she says. "But I bet you hurt a lot less than me." Bruised hand from that fabulous hose nozzle disarm move notwithstanding. Kadi is not the most athletic alas. Still, she manages to get moving, a tleast, but not too swiftly.

It was likely a good thing that Sesti was there. Given that Tamsin had her hands full, and her hold on her more...metaphysical powers was tenuous at best, it was hit or miss whether she would have managed to stop the hose from beaning Kadi on the head as it tried to pile on her like an unwelcome weighted blanket. Thankfully, the lightning fast reflexes of Sesti saved the day. And then they were off. Tamsin, arms still full of cathar toddler, moved at speed as she followed the path the robed man was leading, heading back the way they came.
