Discussing Hutts
OOC Date: October 26, 2016
Location: Nar Shaddaa
Participants: Waywards, Ax, Qadira Suuryet, Jax Greystorm, Wodi Corcer, Asiir Cuul
The common room for the Waywards is designed to give a safe place to relax and entertain. Holochess boards, tables, sofas, even a small stage are all part of the room along with a long bar lining one of the walls, monitored by a droid bartender who is always on duty. Music is provided from an entertainment center in the corner with selections from across the galaxy.
~ Ax had made a quiet call out to members of the guild. Now was the time to take action of some kind. Most of the guilds assets were already packed up in anticipation of moving into a new hangar in the Corellian district where it would be easier to act. All that was left was waiting for said hangar to be available and the Waywards would have a new home on the smuggler's moon. The Common room was without the usual luxuries. No game tables were present, only the bartender droid remained with a limited amount of booze on tap.
Ax was sitting at one of the few tables left, an astromech droid next to him. A lit cigarette burns in the ashtray and a glass of Corellian whiskey rests in his hand. ~
The sound of the Turbo Lift doors sliding open sound just before the Cathar Asiir Cuul steps out into the common room. He gazes around, spotting Ax to whom he nods in greeting before moving over to lean against one bare wall. His ears peek through the mane of dreads, and are pointed upward inquisitively. Asiir never says anything beyond that single nod of greeting, but rather waits and watches in silence. Kadi has not been working in her workshop, all ships ready to go, and not undergoing any unnecessary upgrades right at the moment. She's coming down from the upstairs rooms, so it takes a few minutes after Asiir arrives. The lift goes up, and then comes back down. Kadi gets off, whistling some currently popular song offkey, and then she pauses. "Hey, Asiir," she greets, before she moves over towards Ax. "And hey to you too, handsome."
Jax had shown up and it looked like he was late to the party. He was also alont. He looks around for a moment. "Hey folks. How's it going?"
~ With people starting to arrive, Ax takes a final drag from his smoke and stubs it out in the ashtray. He drains the rest of his drink and motions for the droid to fix him another one.
With Kadi's arrival, there's a rustling from the lights overhead, and a winged reptile flies from his perch above to Kadi's shoulder. The tailring nuzzling against her cheek in greeting.
Ax nods to Jax, Asiir, and Kadi with a smile. "Thanks for coming," he says. "We all know that Nar Shaddaa has always been a shithole, but with the Hutts starting this war, it's becoming worse. There are fucking stormtroopers right outside the big hangar doors. Have a seat, get a drink, and let's talk a bit." ~
Asiir moves for one of the chairs and eases himself down into a seat, motioning toward the bartender droid for a cheap whiskey. Holding the glass in hand, the feline watches the condensation begin to form along the outside edge of the cup before he finally takes a sip. His eyes flick toward Ax, and then toward the others before settling once more upon the guild leader. He doesn't input anything, but he is listening, as evidenced by the forward lean of his ears.
Kadi turns to see who ois behind her, smiling as Jax greets the group. She then looks over to Asiir, taking in his body language, and ear language, thoughtfully. The tailring gets a "hullo, you cute thing," and Kadi pets him contentedly as she pulls up her own chair, across from Ax. She too asks for a whiskey, not too concerned about which type it is at the moment. Especially given Ax's general choice in whiskeys. "It is definitely time to relocate, I agree," she says. "And if there are things we can do, better to deal with those somewhere else. I am not sure exactly what you are wanting to do, but you know I will help."
Jax moves to fix himself a drink. "I figured it was time before the Order tries to screw the hutts and run this thing themselves. I hate to say it. I know what this place means. But maybe it's a good time to go to Naboon or Corellia? I didn't know what important to hang onto." He says taking a drink of his whiskey. "This planet is going to get shittier. There's not going to be neutral parties in the end. So if your not fighting get out." He says shaking his head, "Sorry... That's probably darker thna I meant it to be."
~ "First thing, I want to make sure that the members and their families are moved safely." Ax says. The droid beside him takes a qeue from the Echani and its holo-emitter comes to life showing an outline of Parmac's. His eyes go to Kadi. "Did you get a chance to look over the new fighter?" he asks of his wife.
He then looks between Jax and Asiir. "I plan on fighting. I have three starfighters at my disposal as well as the Carrack light cruiser, which is quite well armed and quick, though I'd rather limit our actions to something that is a bit less implicating. We have our facility on Naboo to fall back to if we need to, but I'd like to link up with some of the others on this moon who aren't keen on sitting back and watching." ~
Asiir's brow lifts as he listens to the plan and then questions, "You mean with the ones that killed those people watching that execution? Did you see that video that was put out on the news? Are they the ones that we ought to be allying with?" He takes another drink of his whiskey before leaning forward and saying, "I don't have any great love for the Hutts. I have never met anyone of the Resistance, or the First Order that I know of. But I know that it looks like whoever those lot were that interrupted that execution killed a lot of people that didn't have a side in this struggle. And that the First Order soldiers were the ones I saw trying to help people. What is that about?"
"Yes, I did take a good look, and had Lily look at the diagnostics as well," Kadi says, immediately. "Systems seem to be green, far as I can tell." She reaches one hand to rub at her cheek, at the talk about the first order and all. But she leaves the conversation about the resistance and all to Ax.
Jax takes a drink of his whiskey, "I wasn't on planet. Can we pull up a report of this. Every one that keeps brining this attack up. I'm kind of lost." He takes a sip. "I've fought the First Order. You better have an escape plan and a damn good one. They trap you and they'll have their Star Destoryer glass your position."
~ "That was Sar Yavok, and not necessarily with him. I guess his heart was in the right place, but his turbolift doesn't reach the penthouse," Ax says in response to Asiir's question. "As for the First Order, I can share some insight to them. This isn't the first time they've come to Nar Shaddaa." He lifts his shirt, exposing a rather nasty scar in his gut where he took a blaster bolt at point blank range. Even bacta, which had saved his life, didn't repair all the damage. "This is their diplomacy. One of their higher ups, a Stormtrooper clad in chromium armor, was hassling a Wookiee, interrogating her in the spaceport right outside our doors, after already blasting holes in a few other people who were going about their business. The Chromedomed trooper was about to shoot the Wookiee because her answers weren't being answered in Basic. I tried stepping up to translate, an attept to save he Wookiee's life, and this is what happened. And that's nothing compared to the sorcerer that is amongst their ranks." He just shakes his head. "The man we stole that ship you stole from Rax from. He's going around destroying anything and everything that links to the Jedi of old, and his powers are terrifying."
He looks to Jax, giving the man a nod. "I don't think that the First Order has the force here yet to pose a large space threat. Of course that doesn't mean that they are far off. I'd rather keep things to small hit and fade assaults. Keep them guessing where it came from." He looks to the astromech, "Bring up reports of what happened in the last few weeks pertaining to the local spaceport." ~
Kadi shivers a bit, but she nods. "I didn't get a good look, but I can say that the Hutt was hanging the prisoners, and there was I think electic shock runnign through the ropes." She looks a tinge green just at the thought. I don't know what they did, but I don't think it deserved that. And people were watching!" She's a bright woman, but some things just strike her as - not necessarily nice. "There were ships flying, not just one."
"Just starting without me, huh?" Wodi says, wandering into the common room, brows raised to those that have gathered. He's decked out in his Wayward gear, eschewing his white leather ensemble for the time being. He lifts a hand to half-salute those that have gathered, and he moves to lean against a nearby wall, his jetpack clanking softly against it.
The Cathar leans back in his seat and lifts his left foot to rest atop his right knee. He gazes at Ax's scars and nods his head, willing to admit to the validity of what he says. "So what is the difference now, then? The Hutt was going to execute some criminals, sure, that is pretty gruesome. But that is present on other worlds other than those in Hutt systems," Asiir reasons. "As for that night, I wasn't there. I sliced into the security feed and checked the tapes and saw what was on the news, but from what I saw the Hutt forces didn't really do anything other than chasing those fighters that flew in and attacked away. So what is the deal? If the First Order are so bad, why didn't they engage? Why just help the injured? Isn't it supposed to be the good guys helping the weak? Not smashing them with their ships?
Jax looks up at the arrival of Wodi. He offers a nod. Then he moves to turn leaning angainst the bar. He then looks at the Cathar, "Can I acess those files? I'd like to see it with my own eyes. Sar was involved? My memories faulty but Sar was rough around the edged but heart was in the right place." He says looking to Ax and then to Asiir, "I wasn't there so I don't know what happened. But the First Order are master of propganda. If there is a camera there they won't act out."
~ Ax looks over to Wodi, "Didn't know you were coming, haven't seen you in months, after all. Figured you'd found aother gig or whatever." He then sighs and looks back to Asiir. "I've seen the attrocities of the First Order first hand," Ax says to the man. "The small contingent here is there to recruit, so of course they're going to show a side different from reality. They're also backing the Hutts, at least for now." He sighs, and looks to Jax. "Yeah, Sar was there. He crash landed a HWK-290 into a group of people, or at least that's what the vids show. I don't know what led to that, but it was all over the news sources out here." He pauses and takes a sip of his whiskey. "Anyway, if you don't feel it a worthy cause, Asiir, then by all means forget anything you've heard, enjoy your drink and we can talk another time." ~
Kadi sips her drink. "Hey, Wodi. Long time no see," she says easily. Adder is on her shoulder, snuggling up to her. She looks back over to Asiir. "It's tough to make a call, right? After all, we each get to go with our experience, and see who is telling the truth and who is maybe not. Or is it just that things are askew, because folks are looking at them from opposite sides. Only - crash landings usually happen for a reason. I'm a terrible pilot and I haven't crashed. Yet." She makes a face and adds, "Hopefully I never will, but - having been there - it was pretty chaotic, and so it's hard to say what was going on."
"Got turned around somewhere near Jakku. It was a mess." Wodi offers as an explanation to the Echani. He scratches at his nose and watches the faces of the people he's yet to meet. A nod is offered to Kadi. He knows Kadi. "Good to see you," is offered with a smile before his arms cross over his chest.
Asiir reaches inside his jacket and pulls out a data pad. Keying in a few inputs, he leans forward to hold the data pad out to Jax where he can watch the attack himself. "I did not say that it was not a worthy fight. I just want to make sure that we are thinking here and not siding with a bunch of folks who are fighting whatever fight they are for misguided reasons. Or not going about it in the right way. At one point or another, where is the line crossed? Mowing down civilians for a 'just' cause doesn't seem that just to me."
Jax accepts the datapad and starts watching it. Then it gets the point where the Muddy Mynock crashes. "Sith spit." Then there's another sudden inhale. He turns off the video. He slides the datapad back over to Asiir, "I've seen what I need to see. Thank you." He looks at Ax. "Ax isn't lying."
~ "I plan on doing something, not sure what yet. My primary focus is protecting those who joined this guild for exactly such protection. Once they are in a safe position, then we'll work something out." He drains more of his whiskey. "Drink up folks, this might be the last bit of the good stuff until we get settled into somewhere more protected." He looks to his wife, giving her a forced smile. "Ya know, I wish Kael were on planet. I could use a decent soldier watching my back right now." ~ Kadi moves so she can watch too, over Jax's shoulder if he's sitting, or else sneaking in to look from one side. Curiously. "They were firing at it?" she says, softly. And then to Ax. "I'm sorry I'm not a good soldier. I can offer you Fluffy?" she says, with a straight face. "I like the idea of protecting our folks and getting everyone to safety. It seems a great start to me."
"Dynamo is always available for patrols," Wodi says, hands unfolding from his chest and taking a moment to straighten out some of the bunched leather creases that have appeared on his jacket.
Asiir takes the data pad back and slides it back into his jacket before looking across toward Ax and taking a drink. "I don't want you to think I am opposing you out of turn. But I do think it is worth considering the information before us. Ultimately, it is your decision, and I am with you. You know that." He finishes the amber liquid in his glass before offering the glass to the droid for a refill.
Jax shrugs, "Well part of the issue was that Hwk-290. It was shot down. So it crashed. That probably wasn't Sar's plan to take out those people." He shrugs, "And it answers alot of questions I have." He takes a drink. "Ax you know how I feel about things and my com frequency. I'll be around. We need to talk sometime." He looks at Kadi. "Glad you made that out with just a black eye."
~ Ax nods to Wodi. "I need actionable intel, I want to know what the First Order especially has to bear in this system. I'm not overly concerned about Hutt pilots, but First Order, I've flown against them, and it took dropping 2500 tons of coolant into atmo and setting it afire with a turbolaser to get the bulk of their fighters off our ass. I've got a pair of Avengers, which are faster and better shielded, but that doesn't mean that the new fighters that the order is fielding are junk, I just happen to have a pair of fighters that were the top of the line ever built by the Empire. They're just as heavily armed, and I'm sure they're equipped with hyperdrives. Before we act, we need any and all intel we can muster. Anyway, that's all I've got for now." He looks to Jax. "Yeah we do," he says to the man. He then looks back to his wife. "Let's go pack up the rest of the apartment. If it's not worth keeping, we can leave it here. I plan on detaching this module and launching it into space with the Soul. I bought and paid for this facility, I'll be damned if I'm going to leave it for the Hutts. Who knows, maybe we can tractor that damned ugly statue into it beforehand." ~
"I don't know if we should go quite that far," Kadi says. "It's not exactly the sort of thing that I would expect to be left untracked. Amusing though the thought might be." She takes a breath and says, "I am all for finishing packing up, and moving out. I am sure we can detach this module, if need be, and make sure it doesn't crash land back here and accidentally hurt someone. Seems like a good plan. I'll miss the workshop, but - I don't feel safe here any more."
"Cool. I'll see what I can dig up around the Guild," Wodi says, standing up straight. A hand is raised and it drags back through his hair as he looks between the gathered members. "I'll get back to you with what I can," he says offering a half-salute and moving to make his exit.
Asiir nods his head, quickly draining what remains of his whiskey before standing and moving for the door as well. "If you need anything from me, let me know. Kadi knows where to find me," he says before stepping into the Turbolift.
Jax Greystorm stops as people go to follow him out. He then turns, "Reminds me." He goes back to the bar and goes to rumaging around for some more booze. "Where is my cousin?"
~ "Last I saw, he was buried up to his neck in the bottle aboard that tiny little ship of his," Ax says. "It's the funny looking thing in the hangar, a B-wing style cockpit that got stretched out." ~
"See you later, Wodi. And you too, Asiir. Let me know if you would like me to help out with anything." She doesn't say what, mind you, figuring Asiir will know. She stops there, since Jax turns back. "Haven't seen much of him, honestly. He seems to be keeping to himself these days."
Jax Greystorm coughs, "Sith spit. Well one problem at a time." He says with a shake of his head. "And somehow my issues just got less demanding?" He watches the pair leave. Then he looks to Ax, "Do you have contacts with any of the groups involved?"
~ Ax glances back to Jax. "Just Yavok," he says as the others depart. "And that's iffy at best. He's a flaky kinda guy in some regards. A good guy to have on your side, but if he doesn't need you for something, don't expect to hear from him unless he wants to." ~
Jax forwns, 'I know a couple of them personally. I know another group mixed up into this too. Let me know and I'll see if I can set you up with a meet. Now excuse me while I decided to go strangle my Mother or My cousin first. YOu two take care of each other." Then Jax really does slip out.
