Valiant Effort
OOC Date: January 26 2018
Location: Nar Shaddaa
Participants: Lioria Thrace, Luka Krante, Robert Goodner
It's overcast above, but that hasn't really put a damper on anything going on in the spaceport today. There's all sorts of humans and aliens...definitely aliens milling about. And then there's Lioria Thrace, definitely some sort of human. She sticks out due to the bone white hair that's been left unbraided today. She's currently dodged a security droid that was going after a shadier looking man who took off across the line of stalls. There's never a dull moment on Nar Shaddaa...
Robert walks through the spaceport, having finished another small, bill-paying job. He spots a man running towards him at high speed, followed by a security droid.
"Hey stop!" he called out at the man. Seeing he wasn't going to listen he tried to grab him as he ran past. unfortunately, he was not trained in physical combat and his grip was not tight enough, the thief elbowed him hard in the nose. Forcing him to let go.
"Drak!" he growled in frustration as he clutched his nose "Should've got for the shock baton...ugh" he chided himself as he lifted his hand away. Blood in his palm "Joy..." he said in resignment at his injury for his efforts. Luka Krante moves through the star port as well and watches the going's on while munching on a piece of fruit. He gives out a laugh as the shady man elbows Robert in the face and shakes his head, moving towards Robert with a friendly smile. "It's Nar Shaddar, friend. Better to just not get involved."
Lioria's bright violet eyes go wide when she hears and sees Robert try to take off after the thief. She makes her way over to where he is, offering the man a shake of her head, "That's what the security is for, Robert." she tells him as he's standing there and bleeding. She pulls the scarf from her pocket and hands it over to him, "Though it was a truly valiant effort." she adds. Then there's a look to Luka and a smile, "What this man said." she nods in agreement.
Robert smiled as he holds his hand "don't want to get blood on a good scarf like that." he said opening a pack on his tool belt and placing a cloth he had inside to his nose
"The only way things change, is if people start doing things. Even at risk to themselves. Words from someone I knew that I keep close to me." he said to the pair "But I can't stand aside when someones in trouble. I'd hope someone would do the same for me if I had been stolen from"
He laughs "Look at me, getting all moral after a punch to the face, maybe concussion gives my morals a direct connection to my mouth"
Luka Krante chuckles and shakes his head with a look to Lio, "My next bit of advice is to not get too close to that man. Only going to end in heartache when he gets himself shanked." He looks back to Robert with a grin "You must not have been here long. you're lucky you're in the CoreStar port"
Lioria shoves the scarf back in her pocket when Robert doesn't take it, "It's had blood on it before." she tells him with a chuckle. "Hey, umm, no offense, I'm not getting stabbed over merchandise that has nothing to do with me." she points out. "Not a coward, but that's not my paygrade." she shakes her head. Then there's a look to Luka and a quirk of her eyebrow, "Very strange advice, but you're right." she muses. "I'm Lioria Thrace." she offers in greeting.
Robert laughs "I know. not reprimanding you or anything. I can understand self preservation. I'm just odd." he said as he pulled the cloth away, the bleeding stopped for now.
Might pay me to get some martial arts lessons before that happens again though. I can destroy a pirate two kliks out. but person to person. I'm probably going to get my arse kicked."
He looks to Luka "Got it right. Corellian born and bred. Been here for about 5 months now. though most of my time until recently has been off the ground doing freight shuttling." he replied "small jobs, but they pay." he holds his hand out "Robert, Robert Goodner" he introduces himself.
"I'm.. Geff" Luka says for his name with a moments hesitation that makes it seem like he had to think about that a little too hard. "Been stuck here on Nar Shaddar for a couple years now. Just be careful not to try too many heroics. most folks here will be more interested in looting your body than helping you to a medic, so some training would be a good idea before you try too hard."
"I mean...look at me. Does it look like I know how to fight." Lioria states quietly. "Much less like I need to chase down a thief. My friend here on Nar Shaddaa would be scolding me from sun up to sun down." she chuckles. "Don't worry, Robert. I wouldn't loot your body." she assures him. Then she looks to Luka when he introduces himself, her eyes growing curious at his hesitation, but she doesn't call him out on anything. Instead, she smiles brightly, "It's nice to meet you, Geff." she tells him.
Robert nods "Hello then Geff. Nice to meet you" he said. His hesitation was notable. but Robert ignored it for now, as he'd known many to take a monkier on Nar Shaddaa.
He smiled to Lioria "To be fair I didn't really chase him. He ran at me and I tried to get in the way. and I did...my nose got right in the way of his elbow" he said in a light hearted correction "Anyway, enough about that, I'll be living it up for a few days. it's good to see you well. I hope business has been going as you hoped."
"have no fear there, Robert. I'll not let you forget for months if I see you about" Luka says with a grin and then looks towards Lio, "Robert here is in Nar Shaddar for small freighter jobs and heroics. What brings you to the moon then?"
Lioria just gives a chuckle to Robert, "Hey, you're in one piece. So we'll just remind you about it if you get any more ideas about diving into trouble." she tells him with a smile. Her violet gaze turns to see if any of the security droids actually caught the culprit, but she doesn't see any new developments. But her attention is drawn back to Luka when he speaks ot her, "I'm an Archaeologist. I'm waiting for some business to conclude on an artifact I purchased and then I'm heading home to Coruscant until I get another contract." she tells him with a smile. "But I'm here every so often." she adds.
Robert chuckles faintly "Joy..." he said hearing the two would berate him for this in the future.
He listened to Lioria, curious as she talked about her work. "Sounds quite the job. color me impressed. Lot of effort goes into knowing the details of stuff like that. and if they sent you here, alone, to verify it. They must have a lot of trust in you back there." he said in praise
"I mean after all. if anything like that is on sale here there is a good...what 85 percent chance it's fake, a trap, or a rip off in some form." he joked.
"That does sound quite impressive" Luka agrees with Robert with a nod and looks back to Lio, "I had a place on Coruscant myself for awhile.. need to check to see if it's still there" he says and then gives a smile. "Nice to meet you two, but I must be off. things to do and all"
Lioria gives a smile to the two of them, "Thank you, it's actually a fun profession once you get going. It can be quite lucrative if you know the right people as well." she admits. Then she gives Robert a look, "You'd be surprised how many fakes I deal with." she frowns. Then her violet gaze goes back to Luka and there's a smile and a dip of her chin to him, "Maybe I'll see you on Coruscant sometime, Geff. It was nice to meet you and please be safe in your travels." she tells him as he prepares to depart.
Robert smiles to Luka "May fate treat you well Geff!" he said as he started to head off. He looked to Lioria "Expertise, rarity and demand equals good pay. not many experienced archiologists around I'm sure." he said to her
"I'm missing the demand part. with so many yards shutting down and going into production under the governing factions...they have enough pilot of high skill already in their pocket" he lamented.
Lioria watches Luka wander off and then there's a look to Robert and she smiles, "Meeting new and interesting people already." she tells him with a nod. "And no, not a lot of us around." she admits to that. "People don't want to dig up the past. Sometimes it brings too much to light. Sometimes people want to leave it dead." she shrugs a bit. "Have you heard anything back about your dad or anything?" she asks him. "I know its been a short time, but I was hoping." she tells him.
Robert smiles "lots of blood in the past. lots of secrets that many would probably want to keep buried. that and wierd and wonderful old tech that does who knows what" he laughed
"Dad?...no nothing. I've been hoping I'd get something from the order or the Corellian government. Get the sensor data for that period of time. But they are keeping tight lipped. I suppose they don't want to run the risk of accidentally leaking something classified." he said with a sigh "From what I checked in public records no ship logged him as a passenger when they left the yard. But some were in a panic so paperwork is a bit...flimsy." he pondered
"Though I wonder...if I could get close to the yard I might be able to access the security footage through a narrowband signal. I doubt my access clearence has been revoked yet, Th'aak was terrible for doing that on time. Though getting close without the First order bringing me in as a Resistance spy or something might be...problematic." he sighed "That's later on the agenda however. I'd need a ship with a good sensor and communication array to pull that off without being at point blank range of the station."
Lioria gives a nod of agreement to that statement, "That's not a bad way of putting it either." she tells him. Then she listens to him and there's a bit of a frown, "Well, hopefully something comes of it and he doesn't stay missing long. My father is a bastard, but, I'd not want him to go missing for long." she chuckles to that. Then she gives a shake of her head, "Be careful talking about that sorta stuff so loudly around here." she murmurs to him. "Just in case." she adds.
Robert chuckles "To be fair, at least if a spy heard me. they'll know i'm being honest when they interrogate me about doing it." he laughed
"Though as I said, long term thinking...hopefully by the time I'm even POTENTIALLY capable of it. I won't even need to."
He looks to her "Let me know when your going to Coruscant okay? if there ship has a turret. I'll be happy to be there to man it...just in case the "Trap" part of the risk of your job comes up."
"I'm sure that they will be less horrific in their torture since you were honest." Lioria muses to him quietly as she looks to him. "Long term goaks are good though." she admits with a smile. Then she looks about and notices how the time has flown by. Then there's a smile, "I will let you know and if they are okay with it." she tells him. "For now, I'm going to go track down someone if I can and grab a bite. It was good to run into you again Robert." she tells him with a wave before she starts to head off.
Robert smiles "Take care Lioria. I hope the artifact gets you one hell of a commendation for dealing with this place." he laughed
"You know where I'll be." he called out as she walked away, the man moving to rest up against the rail. Watching the ships fly in. mentally commenting about the small flaws he spotted as he waited for his contact to pass him another job."
