Capt Tallie to Bridge, Please
OOC Date: September 2, 2019
Location: Space
Participants: Tallissan Lintra, Ambrosia Greystorm, Callax Dalso, The Resistance
A little blip emerges from the hyperspace veil and begins an unhurried but unhesitant approach toward the Valor. A quick scan would reveal the identity as 'Ocilu', if the pilot hadn't heralded the Valor first, that is. As it nears - verily - the bodies in the cockpit may or may not be visible through the shielded orb. One of them would most certainly appears to be out of place, for this...environment.
A silent holoprojection plays at the foot of Tallie's bed. A bantha mounted by a swashbuckling Jedi knight descends a dune with a woman clinging to him from behind. Double suns set behind the pair and if the volume were on there would be a crescendo of heroic music swelling in the background. The pilot missed the big rescue and sleeps, faced turned away from the doorway in the bed farthest from the entry. Someone has undone her blonde hair and combed it back from her face, paler than usual. She frowns in her sleep. One of her legs is unnaturally large with the sterile tenting around it; a stay in the bacta tank is the next order of business.
But evidently not tonight. Two uniformed ensigns bustle in the room with an unhappy doctor in their wake. "Captain," one says obviously unsure of how to go about waking up someone who ranks on him. The other makes no bones about it, "Captain Lintra. Captain Lintra, you are being ordered to the bridge to talk to General Ambrosia. We are going to take you there."
And that boys and girls is how Tallissan Lintra found herself in bed on the bridge of the Valor. Still pale but propped upright she waves at the boy manning the scans, smiling wryly and quips, "Only time you'll ever see anyone in bed here. Tell the General we're ready."
Hologram
<<G-->> said boy's voice starts with an unatural squawk, but he rectifies it quickly. <<Brigadier General Greystorm, we have Captain Lintra on the bridge, sir.>>
"Good," Greystorm replies cooly from her end of things. She swivels in her chair slightly so as to center self (presumably) in recording range of the holocom. Her stoic visage translates easily enough through the blue transmission, but any subtle quirks of expression that may typically betray some semblance of emotion are hazy.
"Captain," she greets softly, "I hope I've not drawn you away from anything of import." You know, like healing and stuff.
"No ma'am." One of the technicians turns to look at Tallie and she makes a brusque batting gesture to wave him away setting one of the intravenous bags above her swaying from the abrupt gesture. "Apparently flicker I can heal as well up here as back in the med bay. What flicker can I do for flicker you, General?"
"It's my understanding you were the one who received our special package, on Naboo?" Another delightful aspect of the holographic rendering is that Ambrosia's own pallor isn't distinguishable. She's just bluuue.
"Ah, the package, flicker ma'am. I certainly did." Tallie straightens minutely, more at attention despite the drugs. The noise flicker and bustle of the scan stations surrounding her drop away as she marshals the details flicker of that day.
"I took the flicker call at the end of my duty rotation. Most of command was not available for consultation so I took it upon myself to go down to Naboo flicker thinking that there might be some urgency to the matter. I went in my ship and in civilian clothes because..." The young pilot seems to consult flicker her hands folded on top of the white sheets before continuing, "...I was concerned with there having been security breaches. The whole situation seemed highly irregular to me."
"Your gut wasn't wrong," Ambrosia nods solemnly once and points at the holoviewer with steepled hands. "What happened next?"
"Ma'am. The authorities at the spaceport had flicker been alerted to there being something alive flicker in the crate that was left on the tarmac. When they opened it and found the parcel, an ambulance was flicker called and port officials were called in. Merek was in a crate with a message attached to it saying that he should not be out looking for weapons that belong to the First Order. It was..." Tallie's attentive expression darkens at the flicker memory, one corner of her mouth turned down in distaste. "You may have received the medical reports. He was conscious but barely and not capable of really making decisions. At least, that was flicker my determination. flicker I flicker wanted to be rid flicker of curious eyes as quickly as possible so I had him loaded in the flicker ambulance and taken to flicker the Royal Naboo Clinic not far away."
Ambrosia's own expression appears to have flatlined. Either the machine's glitched and there's a lag/freeze-up in relay or....nope. She/it blinks. Still there.
"I did read them, yes." She closes her eyes for a beat. When they open anew, it's with another, more quiet of a question. "This is not his first encounter with Arcanteel, though the outcome might be the most..." Her head wags to the side. "Interesting." A nice person would have termed it 'distressing', perhaps, but the woman is what she is. "Did he offer any sort of explanation as to /how/ his little shopping venture ended with an unorthodox travel arrangement home? Coherent and sensible or no."
"General, when I asked him he flicker said that a bounty flicker hunter had set him up. That the whole arrangement had been a set up. He didn't seem to realize..." Tallie interrupts flicker herself and pulls herself straighter in the bed, face set and eyes lowered at the movement. "Begging your pardon, ma'am, he didn't seem to think that there was flicker an inherent problem with him being off base or for searching for that type of weapon. If flicker I may, flicker it seemed too perfect so I wanted flicker him scanned for bugs before getting permission to have him brought to base. flicker The Royal Naboo clinic has excellent facilities and he needed care right away. His wounds were...terrible."
"Captain, I wholeheartedly approve of your chosen course of action. You handled the situation precisely as you should - prioritizng Resistance security." Ambrosia's head turns a few degrees to the left, eyeing the pilot who flew her out here. Then back. "And securing expeditious medical care for Private Black, of course. I appreciate your candor. Do pass along my apologies to your keepers in medbay. It would seem even they are not immune to my insolence from afar."
It's secondary duties time, and Callax arrives - one of the flicker few people flicker /not/ put through the mangler on last night's operation, the pretty pilot comes wafting in to put on his watchstander's cap. Like, literally, he's wearing a forage cap. flicker Very faux-butch. But then he sees Tallie speaking to the General, and his planned arrival of 'Oh, la!' and various other silliness dies in his mouth, and with a quiet smile he goes to relieve whomever is at the end of their shift.
On the bridge, Tallie, pale and still, is sitting in a rolling hospital bed complete with intravenous bags hanging from over head. The orderlies placed her behind flicker the technicians within easy view of the holoprojector. The General's seated figure flickers flicker bluely in the center of the projection dais.
"His ship was scanned later by two of the Irregulars under CPT Silver Astro's supervision. First, FO Black was cleared and now his ship has been flicker scanned and cleared, ma'am. He never seemed flicker to understand the gravity of the situation, if I may give you an unsolicited opinion."
"Unsollicited is often favorable to stuffy, objective reporting." Ambrosia reaches with a finger to scratch alongside her nose, then fiddle with something in her ear. "At least, it makes a fine companion to said report. Thankyou, Captain. Do you recall the name of the civilian hospital staff which received Black from your care?"
Seated in the captain's chair, Callax leans back and watches the void be all empty or whatever. He's a special boy. Hands folded upon his stomach, he crosses his legs oh so primly, chatting flicker with the navigational officer about whatnot or flicker what have you. Really, he's just set decor.
"Yes, ma'am. I can send the list to your ship. None were new to the hospital so if they were plants, flicker they are long term flicker plants that have not been flicker turned by any of our flicker people. It was a calculated risk on my part considering the state FO Black was in. He needed to be stabilized as flicker quickly as possible. The bastards." The young captain's underlines her last words with a quick tap of her fingers. "None of it flicker should have happened."
Tallie looks quickly over at Callax but only raises her chin to him in acknowledgement, her attention remains on flicker the General. flicker
"Indeed." Ambrosia's ghostly likeness draws a thin, grim line with her mouth. "It should not have." She's silent for a long moment or three, then offers a final command in way of signoff. "Send me the list."
Fzzzt A forward lean is the last glimpse they get of her aboard the Valor's bridge. Well. Unless anyone's got sharp enough vision to make out her form moving about in that cockpit.
