MISSION BRIEFING: REPO SQUADRON
OVERVIEW
Members of the independence movement known as the 'CHILDREN OF BALMORRA' have managed to board and take command of the prototype frigate ALAMASSEN. Given the advanced nature of the project, and the general scarcity of Balmorran forces available, Balmorran authorities request help from the New Republic.
Rogue Squadron, separated into two elements, is to engage the ALAMASSEN and disable its critical systems, so that Balmorran security personnel can retake the ship. Due to the high degree of automation, FRG ALAMASSEN can be operated by a very small crew, and it is believed that there will be little resistance once Balmorran security forces are on board.
Specifications of FRG ALAMASSEN are considered top secret information by the Balmorran government. However, Balmorran authorities have allowed us to know that it is armed with 12 quad laser cannons as point-defense, and a shield strength of 950 SBD. It is also stocked with a complement of six T-85 X-wing fighters.
MISSION PLAN
FRG ALAMASSEN has slipped its moorings at Balmorra and departed into the greater star system. Rogue Squadron is to stop the ship from departing the system or escaping Balmorran sensor nets. The ship's hyperdrive was shut down at the time, but it will only be a matter of hours before the drive can be brought online. This must not happen.
Elements of Rogue Squadron will be separated in AUREK and BESH flights, both under the direct command of CMDR Lintra. Aurek will consist of T-85 X-wings, while BESH will consist of four (4) BTA-NR2 Y-wings. Unit CRESH will be made up of three (3) assault transports containing the Balmorran forces.
Upon entering the area of space that FRG ALAMASSEN is located, Aurek flight is to engage the frigate's starfighter complement while Besh flight enagages the frigate directly with ionization torpedoes. Once Besh flight has disabled the frigate's systems, Cresh flight will enter and dock with the frigate to retake it. If at any time the frigate's defensive systems reactivate, Balmorran authorities have given authority do destroy point-defense turrets as required with laser fire ONLY.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: Disable FRG ALAMASSEN and allow boarding parties to retake the ship.
SECONDARY OBJECTIVE: Disable, repulse or destroy enemy fighters.
IMPORTANT NOTE: FRG ALAMASSEN is not to be damaged it at all possible, and not to be destroyed. Any pilot who deviates from orders to attack the ship without strict leave from squadron commander will suffer due sanction.

Funny thing about independence: some people, once they taste it, will get /real crazy/ to preserve it. So it is with the Amalassen, the latest product to emerge from the maw of the Balmorran military-industrial complex. Designed on planet and constructed elsewhere, the ship had only managed to remain moored in orbit before people claiming to belong to the 'Children of Balmorra' movement captured the ship and liberated it from its moorings at the corporate retaining yard at Orbital Point Besh-Two-Seven. Now, the ship is on the run, and while the Balmorrans have a number of skilled pilots, disabling warships isn't exactly in their purview.
Which is where Rogue comes in.
Arriving at Balmorra and receiving interception coordinates from system security command, flights Aurek and Besh make the microjump just after midnight - and while the rest of the system is sleepy, there's nobody that isn't wide awake here. The Amalassen is an angry-looking ship, a gray spearhead in space with a massive drive section to stern; its ion engines flare bright and blue as it makes its way along. Already on combat alert, the ship is escorted by a wing of familiar craft - T-85s, top of the line, two flights of three that break off to intercept the Rogues as they arrive.
<< New Republic fighters, >> a voice broadcasts across general comms. << This ship has been rightly taken by the free people of Balmorra. Do not attempt to approach, or you will be fired upon. >>
And so it begins...

[Tallie Lintra]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
<<"I think they want to scare us, Rogue. ">> The commander shakes her head in disbelief as she reorients towards the logical exit point for any defending fighters. "Fiver, I want primary targets for any defending fighters, secondary will be point defense."
Readjusting the white scarf knotted at her neck, she toggles coms back on to broadcast on a general band. <"This is Rogue Squadron for the New Republic acting on authorization of the Balmorran Planetary government, rightful owner of the ship you have commandeered. This is a request for you to stand down. Hand the ship over to the rightful authorities or you will be faced with boarding.">>
Switching back to the New Republic encrypted band between the fighters, <<"As per the flight briefing, guarding the frigate from irreparable damage is part of the mission. Watch yourselves. Intel has only six fighters on us and point defense. Let's show them what we can do.">>

[Jax Greystorm]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Jax is in the X-wing with the call sign Rogue 9 reverts to real space with the rest of the squadron. He adjusts his power settings, "Exine, I'm deploying S-foils. I want ten percent extra energy on the fore shields." The Corellian pilot pulling the lever to deploy his S-foils into an attack position. The little droid asking, 'If all these people want is independance, why are we fighting them?'Jax sighs, "Because they plan to hurt innocents that don't agree with them on purpose."Jax answers Tallie's call, <Rogue 9, on your left.> The Corellian calls out as he settles as the Bosswoman's wingmate for the mission.

Popping into existance just after the BESH Squadron as it decellerates from Hyperspace is an E-Wing. Black Hull with Gold trim, the IDC marked on New Republic Sensors as Black Six. <<"Black Six to Aurek Flight Leader. Uh... they sent me to help.">> Did they? Did they really. <<"Okay... maybe I overheard the mission breifing on the scanner and got tired of sitting in the Black Squadron Hanger. Mind if I join you?">> He's already angling in to Escourt BESH and CRESH Flights, the pink of his engines flaring brightly. Light jazzy music plays in the background of his comm call.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
[Callax Dalso]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Bringing up the rear is Callax, who like a good wingman sticks it back in the formation, cycling their s-foils to the open position with a tug on the activator lever. << Ten here, in the back. Boards are green and guns are hot. >> The pale pilot checks the boards one last time with keen blue eyes before keying the intercom with the ever-faithful Babo riding back in the ship's socket. "Never seen the like, myself," Callax murmurs over the link at the droid's whistled inquiry. "Keep an eye out, won't you? Quads are /never/ 'just' quads. One of those could put us out of commission with a full volley."
Meanwhile, the Y-wings are in position. << Besh One here, Leader, >> calls the leader of the wishbone quartet. << We are establishing target lock on the Amalassen, requesting permission to engage. >>
And in the background, Amalassen still proceeds, moving at what the sensors mark as fifty-five megalights. Not /too/ fast, but fast enough. At once, cockpit alarms announce that the frigate's guns are searching for locks among the Rogues. And of course, there are the X-wings, which proceed like cruciform meteors to intercept the New Republic ships, wings already scissored open. << We accept no authority but that of the people, >> comes the reply from the captured frigate. << Balmorra for Balmorrans, first and always. For the last time, turn back! >>
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
[Tallie Lintra]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Lintra considers the course of actions open to them before they are in range of the Amalassen and its escort of fighters. She impatiently flips off the alarm informing them that they are receiving the loving attention of at least two quad batteries. "Be prepared to do some hard ducking, Fiver. We're getting a lot of attention."
<"Stand down Amalassen. There is recourse through diplomacy and your democratic process. Use them to further your causes. This will be our last request for you to relinquish the ship.">>
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
[Jax Greystorm]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Jax lets the boss handle the diplomacy, it was her show and he wasn't stepping on anyones toes. He lets out a sigh relaxing. HIs mind clearing as he reaches over tapping a holocapture of Sesti. Then he smiles finding his place in the force. <Welcome aboard Black 5.> He was pretty sure that was Elrych's callsign. He was sure it was the man. Then he mumbles to himself ready to fly his X-wing. Then Exine chirps up andJax responds, "What no? I didn't say I'm a leaf on the wind nor watch me soar." He shakes his head, "I swear you have a loose circuit."
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
[Elrych Cometburn]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Eggsy whistles from the droid socket, Elrych nodding in responce. "Yeah... we'll hit the Fighter screen first. So keep the shields charged as much as you can." There's a glance towards the Frigate as the Jedi listens to Tallie over the comms. He reaches out in the force, shaking his head. <<"I don't think they're going to budge lead... we'll have to do it that hard way.">> A gloves hand reaches out and starts to cycle through targets. <<"Black Six...>> He corrects.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
[Callax Dalso]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
<< You people just can't take 'no' for an answer. The Republic never could. >> Anger there. A hint of betrayal. But the male voice coming from the Amalassen is resolute. << All fighters, engage the enemy! Defenses to full! >>
And just like that, the frigate explodes in a blossom of doom - though the ships aren't yet in range, the guns spew tracers of red plasma their way, equal parts threat and promise. The fighters descend as well - though the second of the two flights break and make for Besh.
<< Leader, this is Besh One, >> calls the boss of the bomber unit over comms. << We've got company! Permission to fight through and hit that frigate? >>
In Rogue Ten, Callax lines up their target, one of the incoming interceptors. << I've got Three, >> they call, and prepare to attack. << On your command, Leader. >>

[Tallie Lintra]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Hours of waiting and preparation bloom into a scramble to coordinate firing acquisition and pilots, Lintra feels herself slip into the zone of multi-tasking with Fiver backing her up. The droid is her co-pilot for all their squabbling, giving her that leg up in seemingly desperate situations. "Give me a heads up when they are in range.
<<"Besh, target point defense and point defense alone. We want the ship preserved. All other units take out the screen of fighters. We want that boarding group to party hard as soon as they can.">>
Banking the T-85, Lintra targets the foremost fighter in the flight released from the Frigate. The lead in the formation ducks the twin lasers easily, looping back to reengage. "Well, what do you know, they are not just pure talk, Fiver," she says, pulling the T-85 into a hard turn.

Jax breaks off to protect the Y-wings. The Corellian pilot targetting number five.Jax aims carefully as he swoops in from above enemy X-wing with an attack run on Besh. The Corellian opening fire stripping shields and hitting hull. THe voice ofJax can be heard open channel, <Enemy X-wing. I have damaged your ship. There is no shame in leaving the engagment.>

Elrych pushes the throttle forward as the Fighter Screen blooms, charging right for it. His initial attack on Freedom Four goes wide, the crimson bolts lancing off into space instead. He pilots his fighter to come about and perhaps target another fighter.

[Karas Darkwing]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Karas is apart of Aurek group, upon getting his orders and having followed the information provided to them. Karas found that destroying the frigate was a no go, he was going to ask a question but decided not to, he knew his ordes and he would do as he was asked unless things got too out of hand.
Some of that Black Squadron training calls to him, but he still knows how to fly and fight with his squadmates. Upon launching and the fight has started, Karas quickly looked at the situation, <<Rogue Leader, moving to cover Besh.>> he says into his comm letting his squadron mates know what he was dong. Pushing the throttle forward and providing power to the engines, he transfer power from shields to weapons and engines. His T-85 X-Wing streaks through combat zone.
Weaving through blaster cannons fire, though while weaving, Karas gets a lockon tone and he grins. The T-85 rolls and fires red energy cannon shots towards one of the enemy fighters engaging Besh Flight. He sees two of the shots hit. Karas doesn't celebrate, <<Besh Lead, I will try to clear your path, shunt power to engines and shields and get to your target.>> he says as he keeps on his target.

The battle is joined, and is a sudden, terrible furball - these independence blokes are no joke, but Rogue is by and large supreme, knowing their machines as they do. One has to wonder just what these lads do in their spare time, however, flying the latest and greatest as they do!Jax's punishing salvo sends one spinning away, its hull punctured gravely in multiple locations, its astromech trying in vain to bring its deflectors back online. The others are hit to various degrees, but still strong...and the leader has it big for Tallie, banking and rolling through her incoming fire to score some solid hits upon her fore shields.
Callax moves to assit, hitting another of the incoming interceptors, but their guns aren't quite ready to bite - their target rolls clear and banks right, leaving Rogue Ten needing to correct and reengage. Elrych takes a nick, too, and though his heavy guns miss, it's only by inches, and his target is having some second thoughts.
Meanwhile, while Cresh loiters at the edge of the combat zone, Besh's wishbones thunder on toward the angry spearpoint that is the captured frigate. << You heard the lady, >> the lead bomber reports back to his fellows, << Ion torpedoes, targeting the point-defense subsystems. Shields double-front and prepare for attack run. Leader, we are on mission. >>

Head to head with the opposition's Lead fighter, Lintra may have found her match. Changing tactics on the second go-around, she fires all laser cannons missing the fighter. "Look at him wiggle, Fiver!" The pilot tags Rogue One, which flares a brilliant green as its shields stutter and weaken.
"See Fiver, I knew there was a reason I keep you around," she quips, grinning, though her hand clutches the yoke hard. In a quick changeover, they come back around to find their adversary. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Jax broke off Five and waggled his wings to the patriot as he made the smart choice. Then he found himself in a Dual with six. The Corellian not realizing it at first till Exine mentions it to him. "What you mean they were attempting to shoot at us? I never saw it." There was a quick turn with the T-85 andJax comes around to jost the older X-wing. He scores a hit agains the T-65. "Exine keep their stats on the scope. How are those shields looking?"
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
[Elrych Cometburn]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
As Elrych comes about, his reticle lights up green against the shape of Freedom Four. He doesn't hesitate to squeeze the trigger, a heavy bolt ripping through and taking away the fighters shields. Elrych passes the craft, comming as his own ship rocks a bit with a hit. Eggsy is already on it, restoring shields. <<"Set you up, Grip.">>

Seeing ElRock join him as they chase down Boguy 4, as Elrych takes his shot, Karas, pulls up and rolls over his fighter and fires on the enemy fire. Only one laser hits, but still it's a hit. Hearing the orders given to Besh, he glances to that squadron on his sensors and sees that they are moving and firing.

Rogue is busy taking their chosen targets apart - the next few seconds finds two of the six fighters are in rags and fleeing to lick their wounds at the edge of engagement radius. As Tallie and the lead insurgent fighter joust once more, she takes another nick as the ship seems set on trying to give her more of what their comrades are getting, all in focus. Vicious pilot, that. Rogue Ten lines up a lucky shot with the already damaged Freedom Three - a center-mass shot from all four guns breaches the ship's hull and detonates its fuel cells, leaving it a cloud of fire and fragments boiling away in the dark.
Meanwhile, Besh comes in for its first run. The four fighter-bombers are unerring in their precision as they launch their assault, with particle-sheathed warheads hurtling forth in a mass to strike the frigate's upper surface. Amalassen's shields flare brightly and sputter under the assault from the exploding ion warheads, and while they hold they are now under half of what they were. Even the frigate's point-defense cannons, powerful as they are, only manage scratches against the shields of two of the wishbones, which even now are coming around for another pass.

"Fiver, if I had a weakness for droids, you'd be the one," Lintra sings to the droid swiveling in its sockets. After receiving another salvo of laser fire, Fiver repairs the shields back close to full strength.
Flipping the X-Wing into a tight rolled drop, they descend on the Lead fighter of the rebels tapping them with a laser before pulling off.
<<"Good going, all of you, keep it up, we are nearly through here, and Besh is making headway.">> Toggling to a general broadcast, <<This is CMD Lintra of the New Republic. We are nearly through the ship's shields. You can still stand down and save yourself unnecessary casualties. There is still the bargaining table to hash out differences.">> =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Jax is not the galaxy's gift to pilots. He is among the elite but he's far from the galaxy's best. He comes out of a talon roll, a three dimensional turn and roll vs his target's bank. This leaves him on his target's six. He pulls the trigger as the T-65 closes it's S-foils and barrel rolls out of the shot at the last moment. Exine letting out a sound that sounds like a popular game shows sound when you lose.Jax raises an eyebrow, "That was some fancy flying." The T-65's S-foils already opening up.

Elrych leaves Karas to dance with the evasive craft he pummeled a bit earlier, Freedom Four. Running through like the bruiser on the block witha death wish. Agressive, that was one way to describe Elrych Cometburns flying... very very agressive and in your face. If one saw him in Lightsaber Combat they would se striking simularities. Yet, he always came off with a calm demeanor, quick with a smile. The Jedi cycled through the targets, sighting Freedom Two that was still giving chase and undamaged. He turned his craft sharpy, pushing the throttle forward as far as it would go. He chased down the fighter, his reticle hovering just outside of the target picture. Suddenly a tone sounded and it went green. Elrych pressed the trigger and all three crimson bolts leapt from their cannons. They smashed through the shields and struck the hull. The Ship sparked and flammed, spinning wildly and losing stability. The Pilot likely had time to eject before the sparking flamming snubfighter exploded into a billion little pieces in a brilliant fireball. <<"Black Six, splash one...">>

Trading punches is the way to go tonight, and with fully half the enemy fighters obliterated even with their talented pilots these people, whoever they are, are what they call on Malastare the 'deep deep pudu'. Even now, however, the enemy manages to rally on the their leader, who only now manages to take a scratch from Tallie's guns. << You're all weak, Repub, >> the low, hissing voice of Freedom One's pilot sounds over direct comms to Tallie's fighter, a voice that belongs to an angry woman with poison brimming in her throat. << And I'm gonna take you apart. Just you wait... >>
She's doubtless about to say more, but Besh is still on the case; another salvo of ion torpedoes breaches the shields and lands across the Amalassen's dorsal surface, each one spreading waves of pallid blue energy across its hull. Lighting plays over its surface in a terrible wave, and then...the ship goes dark, engines sputtering and dying cold, leaving the frigate listing slightly as failing emergency systems try in vain to halt its progress through the void.
<< Cresh here. >> The crisp voice of the Balmorran commander sounds over comms. << That's our cue, Rogues. We are on our way. >>
Meanwhile, Freedom flight - or what's left of it - suddenly breaks, banking away in three directions with their shields double-aft and pouring power into the engines. With drive nozzles flaring bright, the T-85s are on a hellbent course for hyperspace distance and safety. The mission is accomplished, or so it seems, so long as those transports dock.

Out of character for the commander, she lets out an earsplitting cheer over coms. Perhaps Freedom One's venom stung through her armor, <<"Wooooohooo, great shooting. Great flying. The Balmorrans are in! They'll negotiate with that faction. We can only hope they'll be gentler than you were. Our job is done here. Form up, we'll be out of here as soon as Cresh gives us the go ahead.">>

Elrych smirks a bit at Freedom Ones words, <<"I look forward to it Freedoom One. It was growing up on the streets and in Sabbac dens that gave him a thick skin. He doesn't for mup with the Rogues but instead takes a high plane overwatch at a cruising speed while boarding operations commence.

Flying through the fireball, he banks right but seeing that the Freedom Unit is breaking away, <<Yeah, yeah, if you were that good you wouldn't be running now leave.>> Karas says into his comm to Freedom 1. Flipping the switch and it closes the S-Foils. MOving to join back up wiht the squadron.

Such a thorough saturation job does Besh's wishbones do that the frigate does not have even a chance to rouse - and, thanks to the swift death of its life-support systems, escape pods are launching from across its structure as the boarding ships come to dock. It could have been much nastier, this sortie, but instead it's become a fairly inexpensive affair: the loss of a few high-end fighters that the Balmorrans can easily replace, a brace of escape pods that can similarly be swapped out for fresh, and some reconstruction work on a number of fried relays throughout the ship. All in all, its' a small price to pay for nearly having lost a one-of-a-kind, multimillion-credit vessel.
In the end, the Balmorran commander signals that the ship has been retaken, and with brusque but wholehearted thanks bids the Rogues to depart. And so they do, with a job extremely well done, and terror doubtlessly struck in the hearts of the Balmorran rabble-rousers. But there's always tomorrow...
