Log:Resistance: Silver Astro
Silver Astro
OOC Date: March 16, 2018 (Optional)
Location: Coruscant
Participants: The Resistance: David Ironside, Dosk, Chimera, and Devii
The mission was simple, rescue and EXFIL an Intel asset with the code name Silver Astro before First Order scum captured or killed them. The asset was on Coruscant and had been hopping from safe house to safe house since the turn over in power. The team Private Keva and Lt. Ironside had assembled had received word of her last safe-house transmission before she moved out, having been compromised. Astro had run out of places to hide and things looked dire. The first task was to get on world in which they enlisted the talents of a Smuggler hired by General Leia herself. How they got there and what they did with the information provided was up to the team. We join our intrepid Hero's as they enter the gravity well of Coruscant.
David Ironside stands in the area where most of the squad is assembled. He traded his usual uniform or flightsuit for an unmarked one, all black. There's an area around the neck for a helmet to snap on to and seal tight, but as of now, the helmet sits unused behind him. "Alright." he starts, having never done the mission brief before himself. "We're here, most of us know why we're here, but for official record.." David shoots a quick glance at Chimera, the droid. "Private Devii shall now provide strategy and take lead when we're on the ground. Cadet Dosk and myself will get us there." He sits down, waiting for said mission brief.
Chimera folds his arms, his triple-optics scanning over David, then over to Devii. "Then proceed." his grating, deep voice says as the droid unslings his rifle and sets it aside, before checking a blaster pistol before sliding it into a small carry bag out of sight.
Dosk pilots his ship into Coruscanti space, Opting to grab a load of industrial parts from Or Mantel as a slight detour to help ensure anonymity. "Do you know their location David" Dosk asks as his many arms move about, flipping switches, holding the controls and working a cigarra. "If none of yall have criminal records, this should be an easy entry. If not, someone has to hide of I have to make a run for it, Seems like there is only 1 destroyer here so chances are in our favor if so."
Devii is wearing an old pair of corellian breeches, black ones with a red stripe. She probably stole them from an ex at some point. She's back in that leather frock she used to wear before they were required to prance around in uniforms and under that a simple white blouse. Other than that frock, she doesn't seem to be sporting any heavy or even moderate armor. "I still have a few contacts down there I was able to get in touch with. They live in the area of the last Safehouse. Though, they know the girl that lived there the last few weeks. The place is rubble now, First Order Militia blasted the thing, turned it to slag. Though, they think she went into a club near by to escape capture. We'll head there first and ask around. See if we can get a bead on Astro's location." Her orange eyes look around to the lot of them. "Lets try to do this quickly. The longer we stay, the faster we get noticed or cause an inquiry."
Dosk's smuggling abilities are on tops and seeing as most of the fleet is preparing some time of assault elsewhere the one Star Destroyer they left in orbit is taking it's chance at being lazy for the day. A simple check is done over the comm and nothing much is questioned. "The lower levels, Uscru District" Devii tells Dosk, "That's where the Club is... the Nightcrawler it's called." What a cheesy name for a Club. It was probably the farthest thing from Posh.
David nods. He slips a blaster pistol in a holster at his side after making sure it's loaded. "Seems pretty straightforward, any reason we should be expecting any trouble?" The pilot who's currently serving as senior officer rather than pilot shifts uneasily in his seat. It's only been a week since the Resistance was fighting to rescue Leia, right over this planet. There'd been a lot more destroyers, then. "Something doesn't feel right." he says to the assembled few.
"Do you have an image of this agent? It would be wise to leave at least one person to be overwatch outside, someone who will blend. I volunteer. Few bother to examine droids closely." Chimera grates. "An organic face will be less threatening to her, as well."
"You are flying in a 'legitimate' freighter with me" Dosk says to David "This is how 'normal business' goes behind the scenes when you do 'trade runs' pretty anti climatic for the most part." Dosk says as he nods and scans for and tries to locate a landing area closest to the area David designates. "Sometimes exiting is harder than entering.
Perhaps Dosk was foreshadowing or just being wise in his words to David. Though that didn't settle Devii's stomach any more with the thoughts of some type of ambush in her future. She presses a button on a holo imager and the portrait of a somewhat trashy Zeltron appears. "This is her. At least, the most recent photo we have of her." She lets the men, and droid, study it before shutting it off.
As the ship comes to an uneventful landing and the boarding ramp lowers, the Priavte nods to Chimera. "If you think that's where you'll be best served. If we need any technical skill we'll be sure to call you. You're welcome to come along." She nods to David and Dosk who will likely follow her down onto the walkways, filled with all sorts of Aliens and Humans. First Order Propaganda is all over the holoboards in the undercity. Here to save you and rescue you from the unstable republic. This that and the other thing, enough to make one sick. Despite the bad taste in her mouth, the Mirialan moves on. The Nightcrawler isn't far and she points it out up ahead. It stands out like a sore thumb with it's cheesy neon signage. It isn't even a holoboard like some of the other establishments around. "Chimera..." She chimes in over the comm, "What can you dig up on this place?" She asks the droid back at the ship.
"Zeltron.. should've combed my hair.." Dave mutters, a hand going through his hair to do just what he said. Following Devii closely, he glances up at the neon signs. "I've seen Coruscant before, but never.. never this. This is awful." comments the Naboo-born pilot as he glances inside the seedy-looking establishment, opting not to head indoors just yet.
"One moment. Accessing planetary database." Chimera's optics flicker slightly as he connects. "Mmm...founded in the waning years of the Old Republic, before the Empire. Data suggest it is currently associated with a Black Sun vigo named Gork, who operates it as a place of business and relatively neutral ground for those wishing to do business there." The tall droid tilts his head. "He may have our agent, in which case we will need to distract him, bribe him, or kill him."
Dosk listens as Chimera updates. The Codru'Ji nodding. "So, a Black Sun rep. They can be tough to deal with sometimes." Adding as he looks to the others. "Let's go meet Gork, then. If there are no other leads."
Devii glances to David, "You look fine, fly boy. Messy hair is a turn on these days, didn't you know?" She gives a smirk before listening to Chimera over the com, nodding slowly. SHe frowns at the name, "Oh bother... not Gork." SHe knew him. Yup, "He chucked me through a wall once." Though, Devii wasn't the thickest of woman she wasn't a fart in the wind when it came to weight. So this guy must be pretty hefty to have accomplished that. "Came a long way he did since I left Coruscant and First Order came into power."
The Mirialan quiets as she waits outside the entrance. There are no stormtroopers but several Militia-men do patrol the area. Two pass close by wearing segmented white armor sort of like trooper armor and black arm bands with the logo of the First Order. They're all male, young, and Human... of course. She nods to Dosk and enters the Club.
It's bumping inside. People are drunk and high, dancing. Strobbing lights, and girls of varying species dancing on poles nude or half nude. They may notice Devii glancing at a Twi'lek here and a Mirialan there. Perhaps even a Togruta or two. Though, she weaves her way through, looking for someone of import.
David's looking around, same as Devii really. It's just looking, the girlfriend won't mind. Devii's comment gets a grin. "I mean, I know I look fine and all, but too fine in a place like this might be too much, too. He stops, tapping Devii on the shoulder, nodding his head sideways to a door guarded by a burly Gamorrean. "You think we're going to have to go in there, past the big guy?"
As the rest of the team slips inside, Chimera states absently. "If he has been an adversary of yours, it increases the chance of interference by 37 percent, raising our overall chance of success given current data to 43. Try not to be shot. I will acquire an escape vehicle to get us back to the ship quickly."
The droid looks around, then chooses a vehicle that looks better than most...though it's also been rebuilt and modified so it's definitely..unique. Lines of colorful LEDs all over, little hanging hanging off the doors, and a dancing Nautolan girl holo glued to the dash. Still, it seems fast. The droid leans over, extending a jack to plug into the car...and promptly discovers that this causes a short to cause the car's computer to decide to start speaking in Ryl. "...irritating." he rumbles to himself. Well if the easy way won't work...
Dosk makes his way through the crowd, eventually catching up to David as he talks to the Gamorrean. The 4 armed man sliding in as he holds a cigarra and lights it, Sliding between the man and the pig, holding up 100 credits. "Looking to talk to Gork, think you can make that happen?" Asking as he pulls out another 100 and waves it to the Gamorrean.
Devii gives two clicks over the comm in confirmation to Chimera who goes to work on the speeder. She looks to David as he taps her on the shoulder, her orange eyes falling on the Gammorean. "Probably... I'll take care of snot nose here while you..." Alas, she stops as Dosk moves over with a wad of cash and presents it to the piggy alien. She blinks as the well armored and armed guard opens the door to allow the group entry. "You've got to be kidding me..." She says quietly to herself.
The room beyond is smokey, though well lit. There is a few humans, and one very large Houk sitting at a table playing sabbacc. The rest of the room is filled with boxes and shelves. Obviously a store room of sorts. Chained to the table, beaten and battered, is the young Zeltron Woman known as Silver Astro. Gork the Houk looks to the new comers, the laughter from him and his partners ceasing. "What is the meaning of this?!" His voice Booms, "I asked not to be inter..." His eyes narrow, "Officer Keva... I thought we had a deal."
"Listen here Gork," Devii starts, "I head you've been running girls through here again and that wasn't part of the deal so... I'm taking you in..." She lies of course, and is obviously nervous because it's so obvious she lies. "Who you and your puny friends?" The Houk exclaims. "Go away and don't bother me again."
Having failed at the override, Chimera reaches down to pull sharply down on the control circuits underneath, then starts to try and bypass the locking circuit. Simple enough? Except whoever thought it was good to program it in Ryl also was aware they had a speeder that might be jacked...and as he tries, the system promptly locks out the startup sequence without a proper code phrase to override it. Oh, and there's a countdown now.... Chimera sighs. "...how tedious." And tries to crack the encryption this time to try and figure out the password in advance.
"You've seen those First Order goons outside, yes?" Dave addresses the way too large man. "Thing is, one of their officers.. or.. officer-like men in charge.. has a thing for Zeltrons, just such as this one." He glances at her briefly. "You know, beaten up and weak. That's how he likes them. It's not my thing personally, but you can't fault anyone for personal taste, right?" He's talking a lot, now. "So you know, those patrols outside might come in and without said officer-man with them they'll shut your club and your.. people-trafficking ring down. Just hand us the girl and you can continue doing your business." Dave glances at Devii, the nervous mess. Now would be a great time to get that getaway ride.
Dosk was gonna speak, but David does first, so the smuggler remains silent and watches. There was no point in him speaking as the Gold Leader decides to go off the deep end in an environment he didnt know, though an opportunity does arise and the Codru does eventually speak. "I'm willing to offer 1000 for the Zeltron from the buyer, I see business is going well, would be a shame for things to change if you disappoint the Order. My word can either go one way or the other. We are all pawns, take the money and keep things running smooth."
Devii frowns now, seeming to get a bit frustrated at the Houk's words. To David she glances, giving a nod of approval. At least she thought it was a good lie. The Houk laughs at David though, "Oh. Is that why they want this little Zeltron. She's used good now, what do you think we were doing before we started this game of sabbacc? Though, what is funny about your statement is that half of those First Order twerps are on my bribe payroll." There is Another hearty laugh before his attention turns to Dosk. His brows raise, as if impressed. "You know what. I like this guy..." He points to Dosk. "He's got balls, big ones, and knows what a real man is after. Money." He leans back in his chair. "Besides, he's got four arms." He erupts into laughter. "Whatever kinda thing you got going on, It's not my concern. You can have her for a thousand. Like I said, used goods." He unchains her and tosses it towards the group. Looking back to his cards he gets serious again. "Now get the hell out."
Devii rushes to the Zeltron's aid and helps her towards the door while giving Gork that good old stink eye.
"So that went well." David mumbles after leaving the office. "Now what?" He touches his in-ear comms device, reaching out to Chimera. "Clanker, you found us a ride out or do we have to walk the whole way?" He lowers his hand, heading over to Devii to assist in guiding the broken down Zeltron out. "We should get her somewhere safe. Make sure she knows who we are before we kidnap her. And then there's the matter of being scanned on our way out. One of us has to stay behind or this whole trip will have been for nothing."
A code, at least, is something Chimera is very experienced in cracking. He's broken Republic and Imperial military codes. A scratchbuilt computer system's override code is simple enough, as he flicks through the options, rapidly pulling the code out of the system, then entering it. With a little blip, the screen flips over to startup, and the speeder rumbles to life, rising on its repulsorlifts."
"I have a vehicle outside. We can move her to the ship, where she will be out of sight. From the sound of it, she will require psychological and physical repair to resume duty." The droid slips into the vehicle and sends it hovering forward to stop in front of the exit to the club.
Dosk nods at Gork while tossing the cred chip towards one of the Houk's companions. "I like how you do business, Gork. Next time I find myself here, maybe I can run some cargo for you" He says, watching as Devii rushes to the Zeltron. Keeping in character he adds. "Get her out of here, I got a busy day scheduled. Lets go" Saying as he follows behind the rest.
Devii nods to David as they move out through the club. "It's too noisy here. But there's a code word. Blue Rose..." She leans down to the Zeltron and says it, hoping she can here. "Blue Rose, Astro. We're here to get you out of here." To David "Don't worry. I'm staying behind. I need to take care of my sisters stuff finally. Her apartment and all that. I'll find my way back, don't worry." Though as soon as they get outside there's a yell. "Oy, there's that little slutty Zeltron we were lookin' for!" Two of those militiamen are hot on their heels. "Go.. go... I got this." Devii pulls her blaster pistol and guards the way for them to load Astro into the speeder and hopefully to safety.
David shakes his head. "If you're staying, I'm staying. To Dosk and Chimera he calls, "Get her out of here, back to the ship. Leave without us." He pulls the safety off his holster to pull his blaster out and covers Devii's rear. "So what's the play, private?" he whispers to her to prevent the group from hearing.
The green droid turns his head towards the oncoming militia men, then looks back to make sure the abused Zeltron woman is securely in the speeder out of sight, then back to Devii and David as the two state their intention to remain. "Affirmative." he grates, then waits to see if Dosk will board as well. If it seems he might stay, well....he obeys orders and accelerates the speeder away, making for the spaceport.
Dosk turns around as the comment is made. The four armed man's head twisting as he helps the Zeltron into the speeder. "What!? He shouts as he turns to face the men a long with the others. "I just bought this Zeltron, shes my property, you got issues, you Talk to Gork or you end up on my dinner plate!" He says, raising his upper arms and reaching down for his blaster. "I've had enough with this shit!
Devii is surprised when David gets her back, blushing slightly as he stands back to back with her heroically. As Dosk steps in Devii steps forward, pulling out an old badge from her coat and flashing it. "Hey.. woh there hot shots. What he means is we're on a damn mission. Im Special Agent Kora." She nods to David, "This is Special Agent... Tanner..." Then she nods to Dosk, "And that's Special Agent... Gerrmugeerreras..." She blinks even at herself regarding that last name. "You twerps are ruining our cover. This is a rebel asset and we're taking her back to command for /very/ intense interrogation. You got that! IF not, well... I suppose you want to get chopped in twin by Supreme leader Ren himself!"
There is a gasp from the men as they give their apologies and turn to leave. Devii looks re-leaved and puts her pistol away. She turns to David, "Thanks... you all better get out of here." Then a nod to Dosk, "You too... it was a close call. Better get a move on."
Dosk nods and moves to head off "Only cost 1200 credits, a good deal." Stating as they return to the ship and he starts prepping it for takeoff. "You come with a handful of credits and you can make a lot of things happen without conflict. a tip from working these types."
When the group leaves, Dave glances at Devii, noting her slightly darker green cheeks. "Tanner? I'll take it." he says with a grin, putting his own pistol away to hail a taxi speeder to the spaceport where their ship is waiting. Holding the door for a moment, he asks Devii, "So you're going to stay behind, do some things, yes?" Taking a seat he tells the cab driver where to go and the speeder takes off when all passengers are seated.
After driving several blocks with no sign of pursuit, Chimera feels the chances of recovering trained operatives outweigh the chances of possible interception of their mission priority, and slows to a stop. Upon being communicated with, he turns around and pulls in next to the group a couple blocks away from the club to let them pile in. "A mission surprisingly free of bloodshed. Excellent work." he states. Once everyone is aboard, and the Zeltron covered with a blanket so she can't be identified when they drive through the spaceport, he takes them straight back to the Codru Dream. Sadly, the bling speeder will have to be left behind at that point.
Devii nods to David, "Yeah... I need to. Pick me up on Shadda with Felicity in a week, okay?" Then she turns as they take off and heads down a side street disappearing into an alley. The team is equally unhindered in their return trip. Though, the funny thing is, three more Star Destroyers come out of warp as they're leaving. Where they had gone off too, well... perhaps it was just luck. No one would know for sure. The force was always with someone, right?
