Log:New Republic: Chandrila's Most Wanted
Sumi asks specifics about the bounty on Yan
OOC Date: October 31, 2020
Location: Hanna City, Chandrila
Participants: Wahl, Zhu Yan Mentioned, Sumi Kora
- Plop!* - *Plop!* - *Plop!* The sound of a soft rubber ball striking a duracrete wall rattles down the city street. *Plop!* - *Plop!* The clatter continues as the toy's owner plays catch with herself. The solo game of catch doesn't seem to be disturbing anyone outside of the government buildings. The occasional sidelong glance is cast out towards the redheaded woman, but generally speaking, the pedestrians ignore her.
Wahl's face contorts on each throw, eyes tracking the red sphere as it returns. *Plop!* - *Plop!* One toss is thrown a little too hard. The ball ricochets from the wall with extra speed. Its trajectory is well over the agent's head. It flies into the street, narrowly missing a well dressed politician.
Sumi Kora has left the spaceport on a quest into the city. Normally, she wouldn't raise much suspicion but on a New Republic world wearing a Guild sash and Mando armor, she earned a few hiked brows. Sumi was no stranger to worlds like these, in fact, she had delivered more than a few bounties to the Republic as of late. Bounties were the reason Sumi found herself here today.
While walking, a bouncy ball intersects her path and she stops it with the toe of her boot, stooping afterward to grab it and hold it up. The ball is reflected in the mirror-like visor of her Mando helmet, and her head turns to trace its course back to origin (or what she thought was its origin.)
Wahl giggles with relief as the ball misses the city official and is stopped by the Mandalorian. The woman walks towards the wall, stooping over to pick up her helmet, cradling the headpiece in her right arm. She turns to face Sumi Kora whilst extending her left hand, waving. "Hey! Over here! That one is mine!" The agent admits with slight embarrassment. "Toss it back?" Her voice asks with a loud tone that cuts through the ambient city noise.
Sumi's projection was off a bit, so when the voice prompting for her attention called out, her head turned in the appropriate direction and she up-nodded to signify she'd seen. Sumi is about to throw the ball back when someone bumps into her and she drops it. It causes Sumi to laugh, but then she has control of it again and underhands the ball back to Wahl casually while closing the distance. <"Close call,"> Sumi said, still chuckling. Sumi glances the agent over looking for any sign or badge of office. She had spent much of her day looking for a member of law enforcement or someone official enough to discuss bounties. SO FAR, she had no luck. <"Good day. Perhaps you can help me with something. I'm looking for the authorities concerning a bounty. Can you direct me where to go?">
Wahl offers out her helmet as the ball is thrown, catching it inside the armoured headpiece. "Hiya." She says as the Mandalorian approaches her. "Uh.." The agent verbalizes after hearing Sumi's request for directions. "That's going to depend on who issued the bounty." She draws out the rubber ball with her left hand. The red globe is tossed into the air a few feet, snagged before it's able to hit the ground. "Chandrila's Sector is going to be about a kilometer south of the Senate complex. The Hanna City Police have a few precincts around." A nod is given down the road. "Nearest one is...a few hundred meters that way."
The woman stands up straight. "New Republic Security Headquarters is just west of the Senate complex, but I can help you here if it doesn't require a terminal." Her pauldron is pushed forward, a red Alliance Starbird painted over a white background.
Sumi does not bother looking in the directions the Agent indicates, she seems content to watch Wahl. When the emblazon is shown, Sumi nods. <"Seems I've come to the right woman then. The bounty was issued by the New Republic for a smuggler by the name of Zhu Yan. Problem is, there's no I.D. of this individual on the public terminals or in the Guild database, and I thought by coming to its place of origin, the authorities might be able to rectify that."> Sumi shifts her stance and hooks a hand to her gunbelt casually, clearly out of comfort and needing a place to keep her hand. <"Would that be something you could help with?">
"Well. I'm not entirely certain." Wahl says with a furrowed brow. She lets out a deep breath as she thinks. "What do you mean with ID by the way? As in, they don't have New Republic credentials?" The woman doesn't know how to help. "There are a number of people with outstanding warrants and bounties that are not citizens of the Republic, so they won't have a place of residence or anything like that." Her thought pauses. "I know that we have had to contact unaffiliated governments to make any sort of headway....could you be a bit more specific?"
<"Sure. There is no picture of the bounty."> Sumi says specifically. <"I need to verify that the Zhu Yan I know is the same the Republic is trying to capture. The issue I have is that the description provided in the bounty does not match. So, if the New Republic has a picture of the person they are trying to capture, I can compare notes with what I have on file, and maybe bring in the right guy. Does that make sense?"> Sumi's free hand gestures while she's talking.
"Yes. It does." Wahl responds with a nod. "His warrant had a significantly higher profile when it was first released. He killed a pair of Chandrilan police officers." She taps the side of her head, indicating that she remembers it. "When we listed the bounty, the only image available was that botched holo-pic they got from a street side security feed." The woman shrugs. "Any additional details should be accurate, and unless they've undergone some sort of visual alteration, there is a chance that your Zhu Yan isn't the one the Republic is looking for." Her eyes flutter open and shut. "If I remember correctly, Zhu Yan, the human, had darker brown hair...maybe black. Some pencil thin facial hair. Did I say human? Taller, I think." A hand is waved. "The listing should have a more accurate remarks section. It's been a few months."
Sumi is quiet for now, listening as Wahl explains the situation with a bit more clarity. When Sumi nods her head, she raises her left gauntlet and presses a button. Immediately, a holo-projection of Zhu Yan in stunning clarity is revealed. <"This is Zhu Yan. The one I know. He does not look 40, his hair is different, and he lacks any sort of refined facial hair. I have known this Zhu Yan for many years and his appearance has not changed; not in the way it's described in the bounty listing."> Sumi cuts the holo-image then. <"If I could get the image on file from the Republic, I might be able to track them down. Zhu Yan, the one I know, may have some insight on who actually committed this crime and maybe we can bring them to Chandrila for justice."> Sumi brushes her cape back and pulls out a datapad to share her holonet address. skora@holonet.net.
"Yeah. I'd venture to say that if you've known them awhile, and they're not like the warrant's description...that it's not the right Zhu Yan." Wahl remarks pointing to Sumi's gauntlet. "If you want to upload that image and get your Zhu Yan registered, you'd have to speak with someone at one of the clerk buildings near the Senate." She yawns, tossing up the ball once more. "As for the brown headed Zhu, you'd need to speak with the desk agents at Republic Security Headquarters if you want to search for something more detailed." The woman takes a step back from the Mandalorian. "If you think that your Zhu Yan is capable of helping in any way, just ask them to report back here and speak with an agent. Though, the bureau doesn't offer credit rewards for information. Only live capture."
<"Very well."> Sumi says, clipping the datapad to her belt. <"I appreciate your time."> Taking a slightly colder tone, the Mando dips her head in a parting nod and turns about to find this security headquarters where hopefully someone can provide Sumi with a picture.
