Nar Shaddaa Night: The Shakedown

It's raining on Nar Shaddaa? Say it ain't so! There's people that are moving down Lehtera Street to get out of the rain and there's people that are trying to sell some obviously hot goods that they stole from somewhere. A rare sight is the CoreStar Security Patrol. But for those with a keen eye, they can point them out.

Well, everyone but Xan and Kisaiya can point them out that is.

What could they possibly be doing down here?

A yawn escapes Kisaiya as she walks down the street, a rifle slung over her shoulder and her sister next to her holding the umbrella to keep the rain off them both. She looks down into her cup. A cup from the Meltdown cafe, missing a handle, the paint naming the place chipped off in places and small divots along the bottom where yet more material has been taken away.

BUT IT STILL HOLDS CAF!

And it's what Kisa's holding to do just that, a raise of the cup and along-drawn out sip of it. "Bluh. So, where was this place you were talkin' about Kae?" She stifles another yawn with a flail of a hand as if to try and chase it away.

Kae blinks and ummms "Well I was gonna close out our apartment, dun think we needs it, and well get us some food from that little kiosk..." She pauses mid speach, and takes a long pull on her own caf... Yus, Kae's drinking caf too...

Kae then peers in the distance, through the rain, and tilts her head 'Y'see that? CoreStar has a patrol here..." She mutters and tries to point them out to Kisa... "Seee?" She asks curiously, and points at them and ooohs "Yeah, so the Kiosk sells those little fried dough cake thingies you like so much..." She says cheerfully...

Domino has a nondescript shoebox tucked under one arm and is strolling past vendors and fronts, gaze sweeping as she looks for someone. She passes someone who doesn't look familiar-well. The person doesn't but their behavior does. A glance cast over her shoulder she meanders slower and a little more aimlessly to appear less like she's looking for someone and more like she's turned the wrong corner and finds herself lost.

Aliraet slips out of one of the main back alleys in the district, a kyuzo-style hat worn on her head to keep the rain off, discolored from what's IN the rain, but still serviceable enough to keep her mostly dry as her booted feet splash through the puddles as she walks. She's much better armed than most in this district, a vibrosword with a hilt of Zygerrian design at her hip along with a Bryar hand cannon strapped to the other...and thus, when she sees the patrol downt he street, she tries to meld a bit more with the crowds to blend in among the umbrellas and other ways of keeping the rain off.

Everything seems quiet for the moment. None of the CoreStar guards seem to be up to much. A few just hanging out. One is drinking something from a cup and talking about plans later. Nonchalant group really. Nothing to see here!

"Wait, we're supposed to be going to our old place?" Kisa squishes her face up and even squints as she looks to her sister. "I'm pretty sure we passed it Kae, and /you're/ the one who likes though dough hoops." She wrinkles her nose, "I think they're too sweet."

A raise of the handleless cup again and the older Sephi takes a sip. Thankfully the rain isn't getting into the cup, that would totally ruin the flavor. "Blah. Wait what?" Another furrow of her brows and she's looking off toward where Kaelyn is pointing out CoreStar patrols - and missing them entirely.

And in not seeing the guards, she instead spots someone else. "ALLEY-CAT!" She calls it out with a fli-Wohwohwoh, nope, she holds back on that flinging of arms and flailing. Can't do that with the caf in hand.

Sip.

Kae peers at Kisa "I thought you liked those ones with that's like looks like it's made from batter squirtted out of a funnel into hot grease, with the powdered stuff on it?" She asks curiously, peering at Kisa... She then reaches out and pokes "Heey, I like the choco dipped ones, if I rember right, you like the cinna-sweetened ones as they're not as sweet as the dipped ones..." SHe responds, then stares at CoreStar folks curiously now...

Kae then grins and offers a cheerful wave to Aliraet... "Hallo!" She calls out cheerfully "Kisa'd be flailing more cept she has caf... She dun wanna spill it." yes, Kae's taking another playful dig at her sister. It's common...

Domino spots Ali because K&K are like a flashing neon sign LOOKIT! pointing strait to poor Ali. Of course while Dom spots and recognizes the other woman and does in fact seem to amble in that general direction but still seems to be playing as if she has no idea where she is.

Aliraet pauses as she hears her name called out...well, not her name. Thus the wince, and the closing of her eyes for a moment, before she sighs and turns around, frowning as she winds through the crowds to join the two Sephi sister. "Aliraet. I'm not a Cathar." she says with a faint frown, nodding to Kae. "Hi Kaelyn." Then her eyes slitting as she turns her gaze on Kisa, and a definite huskiness enters her voice. "Hiiiii Kisa." Yes, she's still enjoying teasing the heck out of the Sephi. With Kae's permission practically! Or she took it as such. A brightly colored flash in the crowd has her turning her head slightly to blink as she sees Domino wandering seemingly aimlessly, before she raises a hand. "Peaches! Been a bit..."

There's a few groups that come down the street, but none look like they are military or anything of the sort. Just look like people heading back to work or heading to the entertainment plaza for a night out. Or there's a brothel around here somewhere...

Kisa's mouth pulls up a bit more on the right side, her brow moving down on the same side, Ew. "Nono. I mean, /yes/ I like those best, but they're umm, too greasy. And I think that one is one street over." Kisa blows across the top of the caf as she stares off in the direction of - well - nothing for a moment. Lost in her thoughts and the smell of caf, the steam up of the liquid.

Mmmm Caf.

Crap, I was supposed to be focusing. Kisa's eyes unphase a bit but turn more Durni in the headlights. "Wait, what, OH! DOUGH HOOPS! Yeah, I mean, I kinda like the ones filled with pudding more." Of course, the truth is that Kisa has the directional sense of a Stormtrooper trying to find a couple droids. Totally the wrong place, and duped into believing anything - especially what she convinces herself of.

That confection place is not anywhere near here, it's the brothel that's around the corner. "I didn't mean like literally I thought that's how you said it. Sorry Alley-date." She sticks out her tongue at the Devaronian.

Kae oooh's and nods slowly, yes she's watching the Corestare folks and currently chatting with her sister, then waves to Aliraet "Hallooo... " She says happily again, maybe? Who knows... "We were discussing getting possibly fried dipped confections, or stuffed confections... Whatcha think?" She asks curiously, then looks to Kisa... "Umm well They're usually around here, so's that frozen fruit-pop place usually.." She adds.. and taps her chin, before motioning to a cart. "See, Frozen fruit pop place!"

Domino's pace picks up to a trot and she makes a bee-line for Ali, gently taking Ali's elbow and trying to coax her towards cover or at least out of the way, "Shakedown in progress..." whe mutters tersely under her breath.

"Oh, I'm your date already? So forward and sudden!" Black-lipsticked lips curve upwards slightly flashing white teeth as she regards the Sephi in question. "Where are we going then? The Golden Orb isn't too far..." Aliraet purrs to Kisa lazily, her eyes twinkling now. Though she's distracted by Domino's comment, frowning as she glances around, but lets Domino lead her. "You two, this way...get off the street." she says, her tone suddenly serious. After all, she can't keep teasing Kisa if she gets shot. Well, she could, but it's not nearly as fun. And she likes Kaelyn when she's not vibrating in place from sheer caf and sugar overload.

It all happens in a few seconds! Suddenly there's a large group of CoreStar Security Guards and some law enforcement officers that no one saw swarming a group of four human males that had been lugging a container down the middle of the street. Weapons are drawn on them, "Put the container down and then put your hands up!" one of the officers yells.

"Wat?" Kisaiya says back to Ali with a squish of her face into confusion. There's a shake of her head from side-to-side to follow it up, "No, that's your name isn't it?" Confusion grows even further rto a nearly fear when Domino pulls at Aliraet's elbow. Then Ali telling her to move on down the Ali - wait no down the alley. "Hold up! When you say shakedown - like someone is shaking down a shop?" Kisaiya's mouth pulls down at the corners as she glances toward Ali, "Nuh uh. No way am I running. if that's what's going on." A reach back to check toward the pistol at her lower back as well. A little wiggle of the fingers in her right hand.

Then the CoreStar are on the move. "Woh-hoh! Shake down nothin' this is an operation!" Kisa unslings the rifle from her shoulder and glances off to her sister, "No bounties, maybe a reward for assisting though?" Kisaiya starts grinning.

KLae sees the goings on and blinks at Kisa, "Take cover first sis, see what's going on... Remember, law enforcement here can and often is just as bad as the ones they're trying to bring down." Kae mutters to her sis, now taking some cover behind a pile of rubble or well at least an upright wall as she studies the shake down at length.. SHe also reaches out and tries to tug her sister into similar cover "C'mon!!!" She hisses, buuut, Kae does draw her DL-44 in case something happense....

Domino pauses to stare at the wonder twins. Sisters. Whatever. She looks to Ali, "I'm not wearing armor an I don't have a blaster. Please don't get yourself blown up." She air-cheek kisses Ali and looks for a way out of this rapidly unfolding kerfluffle.

Aliraet says absently as she watches the new developments. "Nope, I heard date in there, specifically, no takebacks..." She blinks as Kisa umlimbers the rifle. "...are you crazy? Those are Corestar security...shooting at them will get a bounty on you, if they're for real." And from her tone, she doesn't put it past Corestar to have some corrupt cops doing the shakedowns. It's Nar Shadda. She bumps her hips into Domino, frowning as Kisa seems intent on intervening. "Go hide. I'll keep her out of trouble. If I can..." she says, shaking her head.

It appears as if the CoreStar guys are legit, and not on the payroll from any of the Hutts. Because they make quick work of getting the guys to surrender and give over whatever was in that container. Probably illegal weapons or something. One of the CoreStar Guards turns around and starts to lead the group back towards the Entertainment Plaza and man, he's got to be blind. Because he doesn't see EITHER of the girls with their guns. It might be their lucky night!

Domino eyes Ali not bothering to hide her thoughts on Ali's priorities but that last look imparted she ducks into one of the intersecting alleyways and thus out of likely collateral damage zone.

"Oh, well. Thank goodness!" Kisaiya lets out a sigh and the rifle is put back over her shoulder. She glances over at Kaelyn and gives a dip of her eyebrow, "Gimme a break, Kae. That's ridiculous. They're CoreStar, I mean - heck - half my job is to support them." She shuffles her shoulder some, feeling the strap bite in a bit till she gets it back in the right place.

"What?" Kisa squints off to Aliraet, "No-no. I was going to be assisting them." Her eyebrows dip down a little more and then pinch in a little bit. "I mean, you know I'm a Bounty Hunter, right?" Her mouth pulls off to the side, a thin-line of a grimace.

Kae blinks "NOt the law enforcement I'm worried about, but possibly the buddies of the guys they just rousted coming blasting in here..." Kae does understand a bit about corrupt officials though... She peers at her sister.. "SOoo lets do the smart thing, stay out of mind for now, but be ready to act if we need to?" She asks curiously... "Besides, the place we wanna go to closes in an hour, and we don't wanna be answering tons of questions till they close and we can't go get Meilooran pops... Or Bofa pops... for that matter... Or choco pops..." She then adds too...

Kae looks over to Aliraet and smiles giving a thumbs up... "We're just being ready... ya know, readyness can keep you out of lots of bad situations..." She says and then smiles cheerfully and peers over at the COreStar guards, and the folks around them....

Aliraet mmms, watching as she murmurs. "MIght wanna put the pistol away then...they might think you're a friend of the guys they just arrested, right? If they see you with a weapon out." she points out, idling resting her hand on the pommel of her vibrosword but leaving it in its sheath as she watches quietly, avoiding meeting the eyes of any of the officers. That's just a way to draw attention.
