Dxun - Demon Moon of Onderon - Japrael System - Lesser Lantillian Route
Sanyassan raiders and Onderonian forces have been in conflict since the recent Crossing where Demon Moon and Onderon. The jungles have been filled with blaster and artillery fire, the skies with fighter craft.
As the fighting has raged for almost thirty standard days the numbers of game and creatures native to the lands near Bral'Prudiise often hunted by visiting Mandalorians have thinned notably, killed, over-hunted or simply driven away by the fighting removing much of what also served for camouflage for clan presences.
<<"Mando'ade, a pair of assault forces, looking to claim one of the artillery hills left over from our assault earlier this year, are approaching one another - likely aware. Sanyassans have slightly superior forces to Onderonian at present.">> Hadrix's voice rumbles over comms, ensconced presently in the main hall of the Fort in Shadow, left arm slung still from circumstances on Ord Mantel.
<<"Advise; hit and fade tactics - draw too much attention and they may decide to be narudar'ade.">>
Ground forces are on the move, neither having speeders or heavy equipment, for now, are on the approach to the hill, a score of Sanyassans and only a few less Onderonians from the opposing direction
Sumi is slogging through the jungle toward the AO 'Hill'. Taking a flanking position for a decent vantage, the century old soldier takes a moment to lower to a knee. Only then does it become apparent she's breathing hard. Physical activity like this emphasized the fact the ol' girl smoked. Sweat beaded along her forehead, and she could feel it trickle down her neck. <"Rekking hells it's hot out here.."> She complained, holding a Z-6 riot baton off to one side, its growling electric output turned off for now.
The higher ground. The invaders are her target as the nimble gunslinger as her pistol ready and her hand upon the thruster for her jetpack. Its not exactly quiet as she lifts off but she rushes into the air with an attempt to get higher than her intended enemy. She swirls about, moving back and forth until she finds the right angle, the rush of the jetpack finally giving out when she has enough height. The gliders spring out along her arms and back, lending the woman stability in the air as she gracefully arcs back around in an attempt to line up her shots.
At her side rests a few grenades and she brushes over that thermal detonator with consideration. <"I have sight on the invading force. Circling over head."> Her voice is focused and crisp even as her attention is on her descent.
Avery feels a little more comfortable in his armor this time around. The massive hole in his chest plate, as well as the hole in his chest, having been fixed and made almost as good as new. From his vantage point high in the jungle canopy, he peers down at the approaching conflict through the tinted visor, readouts of the situation on his HUD dancing like fireflies in deep emerald eyes. A smirk catches the edges of his lips as the marks of the two forces near each other and he lets out a sigh just for himself. <<"Well, looks like they're about to exchange words, possibly some blaster fire.">> The slicer comments, his eyebrows knitting when the statement leaves his lips.
Movement to the side catches his notice. Turning his head he sees Karys leave her vantage point to rocket into the air and glide down behind the Sanyassans. "Not a bad idea." comes the remark before he too pushes off of his perch, jetpack igniting to send him skyward. A few moments later, the pack cuts off and the man begins to drop, wings extending to stop his decent and help to soar toward the savage star roaming barbarians. As he glides through the air he selects one of the two weapons on his back, the Tracker being removed from its sling and readied in his arms. A quick glance to the readout provides confirmation that, yes, he reloaded it before coming on the mission... this time. <<"Karys, I'm with you, on your six... no five, wait... seven. Eeeer back on your six again.">> He's gliding fine, just not as used to the ability quite yet.
Sealed helmet, controlled environment, Narsai herself didn't seem to be faring quite so bad as she moved up behind Sumi. Either that or she was turning her helmet com off to hide it!
Normally Narsai would be all too happy to take to the sky, but without glide wings on her armor she'd likely be more noticable with that rocket pack.
Eyes sweep over the positions of both enemies as she moves up behind the Kora leader, clapping her on the shoulder and then looking out over the forces. She'd fought variations of both many times, but it looked like the 'invaders' were in her companions sights.
<<"Well, who are we headbutting today? Or at least who gets it first?">>
Lately Terek has been working hard on making sure that he is able to get better at some of the areas where he feels his skills are lacking. Although from the last couple of fights he's been in with the Kora clan, he's pretty sure his skills are lacking EVERYWHERE. However they must have seen something in him to invite him to come with them, and help outfit him, so he's not going to wallow in pity about how much better they are, he's just going to push himself to get better.
And so at the moment he's sneaking towards the hill where the artillery is. It's going to take a bit of doing to manage to get to their ammunition stockpile, but if he does get to it without being seen somehow, he might be able to rig it to blow. And if he does that, he can wipe out one whole group in one strike, and make the other group back off because their objective is gone. It's win-win in his mind. He just has to survive long enough to pull it off.
When in doubt, follow the Alor. He isn't about to try his jetpack in this mess and become a beacon flare to shoot at. Rathe keeps the Tracker in his right hand, tucked into the crook of his elbow at the ready. His left hand has dropped down the vibrosword hilt, ready to pull it free from the sheathe bolted to his leg to use as a machete. He's making use of his environmentally sealed suit, though he's keeping it at a tolerable heat level to minimize power drain, not to mention not be a bigger heat source for something to lock on to.
Low to the ground, creeping along the soon-to-be field of battle, Aja is taking a headcount and placing of troops and garnering any information she can their positions and placements through respective camps. <<"Confirming 20 Sanyassans lead by a large female warrior.. looks like she wrestles bantha for fun..">> Sneaky Farghul is being sneaky, making her way through and around, <<"Formations are spread out, may be able to thin numbers by striking at the edges and rear..">> Slipping away, she goes from tree to shadow and brush to tree. <<"Seventeen Onderonians confirmed on the opposite side.. leader is an LT from the looks of it. Forces also spread out... moving in to watch the six on our demo team.">> 'Team' meaning Terek. She moves to keep an eye on him and give a heads up on any approaching forces while he works his magic on the artillery.
Roth is certainly here, just being her usual quiet self. And the quietness is a bit more heavy this go around on Dxun. Maybe she's just readying for things to go down or she's thinking, either way the Alabaster Kora hasn't said a lot on the flight. She's checked her weapons, made sure her armor is tweaked and headed off with the group. The Ruus'Alor is towards the back at the moment. Just making sure no one gets the jump on them from behind. Because that's happened a few times.
The Sanyassans almost seem born for this, repto-simian in one by their appearance as they rush through the forest, weapons drawn and with their leader at the fore, cape blowing back and heavy rifle lifted over his head to point her forces onward.
The Onderonians, likewise, are focused on their forward trek, watching for their known foe and not the unknown. Foolish really. But Terek and Aja benefit greatly in their ability to move unseen, one to scout one to make for the heavy shells left before when the Mandalorians liberated a hill fortress from would be 'grasping hands' of Iziz's royal army.
The Sanyassans, intent on their prey charge suddenly - not spying the flying Mandalorians coming on their rear flank as weapons open up and the air is filling with plasma darts. A complete surprise for Onderon's own as one of their forward riflemen is caught in the shoulder, spun and falls - screaming in pain but not down for the count as the Lieutenant in their midst points a vibro-saber towards the onrushing forces they are failing to make headway against.
"CHA-" he pauses, blinks and looks up at the two figures on approach, missing Terek and Aja still. "Mandalorians?" going cold and trying to signal to the forces under his command in sudden shock.
Clapped on the shoulder, Sumi glances back, and up, at Narsai; nodding briefly, she looks ahead. <"I say the Onderonians. They're dug in and stand to be the most strategically placed. The others are attacking, and if we hold our spot for now.. we'll let them thin the herd. But.. first thing's first.."> Sumi says, seeing the marker for the Onderon Lieutenant. <"Gotta take out the officers first.">
Sumi produces a glowing boomer and playfully bounces it in one hand. <<"Bets anyone? Gonna hit the El-Tee from here, I think..">> Sumi rises up and lifts her chin to take aim. Then after three steps forward she displays a sudden feat of strength, hurling the boomer from her position (grunting while doing it).
The glimmering blue ball sails over the battle and smashes into the Lieutenant in question coating his right side in the Naboo core matter that sparks with electricity. Sumi is rotating her arm like an old woman, complaining about the sudden pain in her shoulder. <<"Aja, confirm I hit that target.. I want to get paid..">> Sumi says, pained.
Karys is still wheeling about above, getting closer to the ground every second but it still gives her an advantage. Hearing Avery in her here she nods and responds, <"Understood."> She sweeps further right and taking aim on the leader as she comes back around she sights down her pistol and hisses through her teeth with the slow exhale to steady her shot. She ticks her head to the side and PEW! Just missing as the next shot hits and the other lands just before his feet. He nearly got three shots to the face but she will take the one.
Narrowing her gaze upon the figure she watches Avery's shots land as well as she tries to keep herself above the ground.
She wheels back around sharply, catching a wind oddly as she tries to even herself out.
Oh kriff... they've been spotted, or at least Avery surmises due to the shocked expression on the Sanyassan Leader's face and his sudden frantic gesturing and waving of arms. Well, not so subtle of an approach as they both may have hoped. Still, being dropped on from above, and by a pair of Mandalorians to boot, should provide at least some sort of advantage to the gliding pair. As they rush the group Karys and he both lift their respective blasters and sight in on the Raiding Leader who spotted them. Three bolts fly from her pistol, two sending bits of dirt and jungle floor to scatter in the air, one striking the Sanyassan solidly. Avery takes aim and squeezes the trigger, the bolt from his gun screaming into the air to finish the job. As the Raider leader ragdolls head over heals, another blaster bolt is loosed from Avery's carbine and strikes one of the minions nearby. <<"Raider Leader has been dropped, coming around again!">> he announces as he tries to swoop into the sky for another round of 'bombardment'.
A blade in her hand, Narsai had been ready to break from the trees, silence her target and move on...but it seemed that the raider was more aware than she'd expected. A quick trio of slashes dances over the armor and bites flesh, but not deep enough.
Alright, so picking the stragglers off from the shadows wasn't quite going to work perfectly.
Terek is still not the best at sneaking apparently, because he is about to go out into the path of one of the patrolling enemies. Despite the fact they are engaged in active combat, they still have members keeping their rear flank protected.
It's a good thing for the cathar that the Farghul is looking out for him. The two races are probably distantly related cousins, but it's close enough that Terek is grateful that she's decided to come along with him.
Suddenly! Kora Finesse! Rathe always marvels at the approach they take sometimes, but he is smiling behind that visor. His HUD starts lighting up thanks to snek-Aja and the angels above. Rathe cannot disagree with Sumi's priority targeting. Three things to hit first not always in order. The Medic, The Comms sentient, and the Officers. He's only got the ability to smack one in front of him. With the glimmering blue ball arcing up and over, Rathe is a little too eager to charge up behind it, so on his first snap shot his visor is still fairly polarized from the glimmering blue flash.
The second shot transects the Onderon Liutenant's brain pan with an adjusted blaster bolt. <<"That's a kill. Officer down.">> no bragging, just stating a fact for others to adjust targeting. Rathe hasn't stopped advancing with speed, but he's sliding his Dreadfinder'd ass behind some hard cover on his knees ASAP.
Maybe Rathe will get lucky. Maybe that was an Officer all the Onderon's wanted to Frag.
<<"Confirmed hit.. LT is down but not dead. Nice throw, Alor.">> Aja is indeed impressed by the well-timed toss that landed right on top of the Onderon Lieutenant and left him hurting badly. Her helm swings the other way and picks out the Sanyassan leader, <<"Confirming kill on Sanyassan leader. Nice shots, strike team.">> Moving forward, picking her way carefully, she halts when she notes one of the troops about to stumble right across Terek.
Skirting around, she flicks a rock into a nearby treetrunk to distract the man while Aja gets Terek under some better cover. Once the trooper has passed them by, she pops her head up to get a quick peek around before nodding to Terek to complete the run. <<"Confirmed. LT is dead. Repeat both leaders are done. Time to herd the nerfs to the slaughter.">> A brief pause and then, <<"Nice shootin', Doc.">>
Roth perks up when violence starts. The smell of blood in the air is coppery and it draws the Arkanian out of her gloomy mood. And she needs to be in melee range, so, she takes two big strides and then pushes off the ground, rockets igniting as she does. It's that time of the day for bowling for Onderonians! She goes flying into a group of them, blades swinging, looking for purchase. It's not found on the first slice, but the second arc of the vibroblade sizzles as it wounds.
Absolute pandemonium. Their leaders are down, they're firing without concentration and most of them are firing blindly into trees or the air while the enemy descends upon them with blade and blaster.
A corporal on one side and the toughest on the other begin barking out quick orders- trying to steer themselves towards their objective while fending off two attacking forces at once.
Terek and Aja? They appear at the top of the hill under cover with time battered shells ready and waiting. Trees an vines fall and small fires are erupting all around with the devastation in the jungles around them. Both sides, not yet, willing to run from their potential foe yet.
Sumi had plans to join the chaos and crater some fools, but the reality hit like a stampede of ravenous Manka. Caught in a burst of blaster fire the rips through the jungle foliage, she's picked apart by the heavy lances as other feral shots take down small trees, vines, leaves, random wildlife, and whatever else was in the way.
Sumi fell to the ground, hitting back first, her chest smoking with two fresh impacts, and a third on her right arm. She's done.
<"Saved me the trouble.."> Cough. <"..of lugging my big ass out there."> Her helmeted head thunks back against the ground and lulls lazily to one side.

Karys loses control, wobbling slightly and thus when the bolt that catches her clips her neck and head it slips beneath her helmet from the lower angle she starts to dip fully out of control. Its a sheer sudden lurch to the side as the elegant flight she had started in is quickly turning into a tumbling spin down towards the ground as she desperately tries to stop herself. There is not firing this round as the ground is coming up fast and even as Avery attempts to help her she reacts and tenses up in all the wrong ways for impact. She slams through the upper branches, slamming a her hip into a thicker one that sends her into a spin. It knocks the breath from her and she heaves air into her lungs before the ground sucker punches her across her arms, her gun held onto sends a stray shot that slams into the tree trunk.
She lays there a moment, dazed and unsteady as she struggles to get up to her feet. She slowly rolls to her side to try to get. her knees beneath her and stagger into the nearest tree.

As he wheels about in the sky for another pass Avery sees Karys having a bit of difficulty staying aloft, maybe the wind shifted or a cross current caught her. Whatever the cause, the blaster bolt that strikes her in the helmet seals the deal and down she goes, spiraling toward the ground. A barked curse under his breath precedes a sharp turn that finds Avery diving toward his stricken comrade. However, the forces below have a different agenda and they let loose a barrage at the two in the sky, one of which finds his newly repaired chest and sends the ex-trooper badly off course. Now he is the one who has to do corrections before he slams into the ground, straining against the pain in his chest and the effort it takes to right the freewheeling fall. Unable to gain control, he instead takes his anger out on the quickly approaching troops, squeezing off two wild shots which impact no where near his targets. <<"Not good....">> comes the strained and pain-laden voice of the man plummeting out of control toward the ground.
Blaster bolts come Narsai's way, the Ordo Alor was already moving...but there's a lot of fire from both sides. Trees and dirt are ripped apart, but the armored woman was untouched so far.
Hearing the impacts and comments from the Kora Alor though? That had her swearing under her breath. Alright. Fine!
The beskar-forged hilt springs to her hand and that violet plasma blade springs to life as Narsai lifts a weapon both the moon and the opposing cultures had seen many times before.
<<"Medic!">> she calls, brandishing the lightsaber defensively. <<"Rathe! Get to Sumi, I'll cover your back!">>
<<"What's going on up there?">> Rathe enquires of the two flying Kora, he can't really see them, but there was a hell of a light show a moment ago. Sumi goes down in front of him hard. There is muffled cusring behind his visor that he does NOT transmit this time. He's bolting out of his cover to slide to a stop next to Sumi as Narsia tells him she's got him covered. He tries pointing to any opposing forces coming his way now. <"LOOK! A distraction!!">
Rathe doesn't care that it's probably not working, he's grabbing Sumi and hauling her booty back behind his cover. He's jabbing at her chestplate with his medically enhanced armor. <"This will sting."> He medically stabs the Alor without warning, he never warns. It is simpler this way, he works quickly with one hand primarily and gets that wound sealed and fully patched. <"That's a start, Alor."> Back to professionalism.
It seems that both Terek and Aja had similar ideas, but Aja is a bit better at it than the cathar. Still, Terek holds his own, rigging some of the shells to blow, and ensuring that they would be under some other explosives when they go off.
And then its time to run. Stealth is out the window at this point, as Terek takes off running back the direction they came from. If they get spotted at this point, it's moot.
Creeping up on the artillery, Aja glances around to see if they're still hidden, turning just in time for the call for a medic to go out. She pokes her head up again and sees Sumi down and Rathe headed towards them with Narsai defending. Ducking back down, she looks to Terek and mutters <<"We gotta fix this and go. Sumi is down, Karys has fallen, Avery's following. We need to withdraw and let the bombs do their thing.">>
Turning back, she works alongside Terek to help rig the shells, adding a few little flairs she's picked up along the way. <<"Confirming that the egg has been laid and is set to hatch! Find cover if you can!">> Its sounded out across the comms to let the Mandalorians know what's about to go down. THen she's vaulting the artillery and racing across the field with Terek, calling out, <<"Last one to the treeline is a Shistavanen!">>
Roth's distracted by the sudden falling of clan members and the woman gives a bit of a look around, then up, <<Well kriff.>> she states as she disengages from the fight for the time being. Family didn't get left behind and while she didn't have enough time to do anything about Karys' decent she could try to get to Avery in enough time. She uses the corpse of one of the Onderonians as a stepping stone and rockets off the groun. <<Avery, this might hurt.>> she warns milliseconds before the alabastrine woman plows into the falling one. <<I've got you. We'll get you to Rathe and try to get wounds healed up.>> she tells him.
The detonation is fantastic, absolutely fantastic. When the top of the hills goes up, the top four meters go with it as one explosion lends into another shrapnel rendered to molten durasteel is cast to the sky to rain down for meters around, setting plantlife aflame and biting into armor plate.
It's stunning and terrible. Lightsaber drawing fire while the standing forces continue to lay fire into one another, trying to fire on Narsai - the Mandalorians are disappearing into trees, into the brush, or high-tailing it down the hill while being pushed by the lambent hand destruction chasing close after.
The target location is no more. What are they fighting for now? Are there more mandalorians coming? What next? The onderonians and sanyassans are both looking like they're getting ready to fall back.
Leaning into the tree she landed next to, her hip aching and her body battered, it was likely what saved her from breaking her neck. The smell of burning hair fills her helmet and she jerks it off, patting her hair down quickly as she grips the edge of it and hisses through her teeth. "KRIFF" she grows and sweeps out of cover, blue eyes staring hard at the targets near her. She begins to stalk forward through the tree cover.
Her arm feels a little weak from taking the brunt of the fall but she manages to squeeze off the shots - they just do NOTHING. She growls below her breath, helmet in her left hand, pistol held out in her right as she tries to tuck back into cover, catching her breath. Without the helmet her radio silence is real and she pulls at the burned hair from the blaster bolt that hit under her helmet and broke the seal.
<<"Wha-OOOOOooooooof!">> is his eloquent reply to her warning of impact. Having been spun about in all directions while trying to regain control, Avery has no idea what's about to happen until he's caught, or should we say his movement down is impeded, by Kirioth rocketing quickly the other direction. Another wince crosses his features and he just manages to hold on to the carbine as they fly in a new direction. <"NNnn.... thanks."> he replies through the helmet speaker, peering back over her shoulder for any targets left that need elimination. A few catch his notice and with a growl he lifts the carbine to let loose a few parting shots as they rocket away. Fortunately for the remaining raiders, the shots are across their noses, not up them as both red bolts fly wide.
There was now a -lot- of blaster fire coming Narsai's way, but she had one great big blaster magnet in her hand. Twisting, whirling, rolling the weapon in her hand, Narsai sent the streams of red death deflecting wildly into the trees, dirt and skyline around her.
One deep breath, her eyes narrow behind the T-Visor and Narsai lashes out, batting three deliberate bolts back into one of the charging gunmen.
<"C'mon!"> she calls through the trees, adding further under her breath. <"Look at me you bastards...">
Terek is not going to stand idly by while everything around him explodes. Because that's not the kidn of guy he is.
Instead he RUNS his happy butt off, tearing down the hill as fast as his feet will carry him while the explosion goes off behind him. He of course, does not look at the explosion, because that would ruin the moment. Though maybe he should have dove away from it, that would have looked cool.
Either way, his plan worked and the two factions have nothing left to fight over, so he's pretty satisfied about that fact.
The explosion is beautiful, an usually cool guys like Rathe do not look. However, the top of a hill just suddenly vanished out of all existence. There's a sudden lightsaber deflection flurry, and he is just uncertain how to process that. A glance back up to the pyroclast falling from the sky, and then he glances back down. <"Oh! Kriff. Uh..."> Rathe eloquently tries to cover for his temporary lapse in medical attention. Rathe works rapidly. <"You're back to fighting trim... medical orders. Stay behind cover for now. I need to..."> Rathe just stops babbling at the wounded Alor and starts bounding for Roth and Avery he'd seen that hot action. <"Anyone got eyes on Karys' landing zone?"> There is some concern in his voice as he tries to keep his breath up dodging from cover to cover. Maybe he should quit the cigarillo's after all...
Roth gives a nod of her helmed head to Avery as she keeps him over her shoulder. The Dreadfinder armor could carry the weight and then some. She has her vibroblade out and she takes a deep breath before she settles onto the ground, "I'm going to need you to hang on. We're going through, not around the enemy." the blood splattered Arkanian states. Uh oh. Roth starts to run, slicing as she goes and she manages to down one of the Onderonians, but she doesn't stop to check, there were more important things to attend to right now and the dead didn't have the worries.
Aja is fleet of foot, but once they reach the treeline, its a matter of taking cover and keeping an eye out for anyone froggy enough to come for the Mandalorians. Executing a nice little slide into the bushes, she keeps low and watches through her visor, the HUD displaying the enemy as they start to break ranks and retreat. GLancing back intot he woods to do a headcount and make sure everyone is present and accounted for before turning back to watch the destructive aftermath.
They're still being shot at and the one with the lightsaber is telling them to come at her and even the one shot that looked like it hit did absolutely rekk all to her and her armor.
Nerve fails and soldiers turn - injury and casualties mounting with the reason they're here a flaming wreck in the middle of the jungle. The Sanyassan's growl and bellow in guttural tones while an Onderonian watching the Mandalorian in White cutting down one of their number calls out,
"Fall back! FALL BACK!!!" before both sides melt back into the jungle, taking cover while moving as quickly as they can for safety.
The Mando'ade of Kora and Ordo may have suffered injury, indignance, or singed fur. But it was enough. A victory by denial.
Darasuum Kote.
