Jedi Order: Mission to the Wheel
OOC Date: December 13, 2021
Location: The Wheel
Participants: Jedi Order: Kasia Ashkuri, Chani Tahn, and Rey Skywalker as GM with Ben Solo
The information was sketchy.
The meeting point was sketchier.
But that Sentinel Prime droid had been a very particular thorn in the side of the Jedi Order.
Arriving now on the bustling Wheel space station, the dispatched Jedi are making their way in to the main promenade. It is filled with people of all races and walks of galactic life. Throngs of patrons coming and going down the various corridors, and in to the wide variety of shops and stores found here.
Music of all kinds blends in with the equally diverse sounds of chatter... and smells.
It's quite a place!
At the forefront, Rey walks with her hood up. Dio rests in the custom made pack on Rey's back, his cone head looking this way and that as Rey moves between people, and looks back over her shoulders. "We're looking for the Freemakers salvage place." She reminds those with her. "It should be just up ahead... I hope..."
Dressed in smuggler-esque clothing that fits right in on the Wheel, Ben nods as he follows behind Rey. "I'm sure your sense of direction, honed in the desert, is just as sharp in a place like this," he offers with a note of reassurance that begs the question of whether it actually is meant that way. "Freemaker sounds like another way of saying 'burglar'. And judging from this place's reputation..." He frowns, looking up as he walks and being bumped into by a Rodian that promptly begins to curse him out in response. "You really think this person will have a lead on the Sentinel?"
Kasia isn't wearing her robes today, she's wearing something that makes her look a little less conspicuous, and a little more dressed down than usual. Her hair is back in a simple braid, and there is very little in the way of bling. Her makeup is done, but she'll probably do that on her deathbed, it's just her way. The smells, and noise, they're different and offensive, but in a sort of familiar way. Her nose crinkles all the same. "This does seem like a strange place to get leads on things like that, but then again really strange things have a way of filtering through Nar Shaddaa too. Sketchy places love illicit goods and information."
Traversing through the diverse array of sentients aboard the station, Chani's dark brown robe is drawn close in the front and its deep hood is raised to shadow her face. She appears like many other travelers in earth-toned garments, with simple leather boots that create quiet taps lost in the din of bustling activity. Even with her head raised, the angle of the hood keeps her face hidden away while allowing her gaze to flick over the numerous glowing signs detailing the various shops and their purposes. She casts her gaze over the cars meant to traffic sentients to various other parts of the station, but maintains a pace behind a trio of other individuals. They converse, but she remains quiet, a silent member of the traveling group.
Rey looks back over her shoulder at Ben, and Dio just stares right at him as well. "He's a droid salvager. Draysin Bell. He apparently specializes in Clone Wars era droids. The kind like General Grievous... and that's the closest lead we have on the droid we're after...." She gives a look back to Kasia and nods once as well. "I'm not comfortable in places like this. I'm ... not used to this many people." She says just as she bumps in to someone as well. A Talz that looks back and down at her, snorting at her through his weird noses.
"Sorry." Rey says quietly as she keeps going.
The group makes their way around a bend in the station.
"There's their sign." Rey says as she sees the 'Freemaker' logo glowing in blue and yellow up above the large open entry way.
Rey cuts through the crowds and tries to adjust angle to the store. The rows of pedestrians clear up a bit closer to the front of the Salvage store.
Rey pauses and waits for the others. "I don't want to just ask around for his name... so if you have any ideas on how to do this with descretion..."
A blaster goes off inside the store! A second blaster bolt can be heard screeching a second later!
The throngs of foot traffic begins to frantically move away from the Freemaker place now!
"I'm not used to it either," Ben replies in solidarity, giving the crowd a harried glance as they push through towards the Freemaker storefront, only to arrive around the time that shots start ringing out from within. Most of the faceless masses do pull away in response, but there's always a few that actually lean in closer to things like this, eager to get a peek of what's going on or maybe pick something of value up once the smoke settles.
Tonight, Ben is in that group, moving quickly towards the entry. Are there windows? If there are, he attempts a peek inside, splaying his body up against the cool, grimy metal beside the door and leaning to angle his head for a look. "I have a feeling we've found your man on the other side of those shots," he mutters darkly, never one to ascribe anything to coincidence.
"It's funny how you grow up affects that sort of thing," Kasia remarks to Rey, the corners of her mouth quirking up into a smile. Her eyes sweep up to the Talz for a moment, then back to the Paragon. "I've always been more comfortable in cities. Quieter places, the quiet almost feels oppressive because it's just... too quiet. The only time it's ever that quiet anywhere on Nar Shaddaa is if something very bad has happened." She almost mentions a specific instance, but her eyes flick over to Ben, and she decides against it.
Rey changes their trajectory toward the store and she turns to follow, but the sound of the blaster firing makes her pause, grimacing as she flinches back a bit. "Well, this is probably the right place," she mutters, hand moving to her concealed weapon inside her jacket before she moves to head inside the shop.
Various scents of wafting food and rising laughter spilling out of the entrances to one of the cantina's has Chani peeking in through its uncovered opening. The Blasted Asteroid, the sign proclaims, is full of what seems like rowdy sorts deep in their cups. Their group passes it by and Chani doesn't look ahead again until Rey mentions that she's found the sign. The blue and yellow haze cast by it shades her robe in its two-tone glare, like all the sentients passing by. Chani pursues the group to get closer, weaving through passersby until they're all gathered near the entrance and to the side of the thoroughfare so that it's not breaking around them. Muffled, but distinct, blaster fire from within has Chani's head quickly orienting towards the store. The chaos of sentients suddenly scrambling away in all directions makes the group stand out, as they stay next to the store.
The only 'window' in to the store is a open circular affair with a droid standing on the other side. It looks like a reception area of sorts. But that droid is looking back at the blaster fire inside its own store now as well. "No blasters!" It says in a loud, buzzy, voice!
Rey is right there with Ben beside the entrance and looking back to Kasia and Chani. "I have a bad feeling..." She's cut off.
Before any of them can even enter the store, a man in spacer-type clothing comes running out with his old blaster pistol held up and aimed inside the place! He fires it two quick more times before he starts to turn...
and stops. He looks at Kasia and Chani with huge eyes, his stare resting on Chani in particular. "Jedi?" He asks, his eyes taking in the sight of her robe. Apparently he was expecting them?
"I'm Drayson. I was told to meet someone named Blue." His voice is panicked as he starts to walk around Kasia and Chani toward the main path of sentients. It's then that he sees Ben and Rey standing to the side of the door. "Look. We gotta get out of here. They sent a probe droid. They know we're---" He is cut off then as his body undulates... His eyes go glossy and his muscles relax as he drops down to his knees, then falls forward nose-first on to the deck plating.
More screams come from the crowds as they try to get away quicker now!
On Drayson's back are four silver darts, stabbed through his clothing.
When Drayson comes barreling out of the shop and announces himself, there's a moment of smug satisfaction where Ben looks across the doorway at Rey with an expression that says very little other than 'I told you so', but when the fellow keels over, it fades. "Is he dead?" The darts are caught in the cursory glance across his back, and Ben's eyes shoot up to follow the trajectory, alighting on the rooftop of a nearby bar, the Blasted Asteroid.
"Sniper," he hisses sharply at the others, a word of warning more than anything else. "I don't think we can catch them," Ben shouts over his shoulder as he takes off to try to catch them anyway.
Kasia abruptly stops as the man departs from the shop she was just heading into, eyes widening ever so slightly. When he looks past her to the more Jedi looking folks, she steps back and lets him go talk to them. "They who?" she starts to ask, but them the man is going wobbly before he collapses to the ground. Her eyes snap up and she spots the sniper at the same time Ben warns of it, lips pursing slightly as he takes off. He's probably faster than she could be, so rather than try to keep up with him right now, she lowers to one knee to feel if the darted man has any kind of pulse.
The electronic drone of a droid's voice and further shots of blaster fire transition into a man running out of the store. There's no time to respond to his abrupt reaction, especailly as he turns and encounters two of the others after getting a look at her completely non-descript robe closed around the entirety of her body. His introduction is short-lived, as is he when his attempts at relaying a message are interrupted by--to Chani--an unseen source. All Chani sees after are the four darts sticking out of the man's back after he collapses to the deck with a sickening thud of his head against the surface. It's difficult to hear when the shrill cry of dozens and dozens of sentients grow even louder because of the violence spilling out of the shop and into the curving corridor.
Ben and Rey both pursue the fleeing sniper, but before just running off, Rey looks back over her shoulder. "Try and make sure the store is safe! We brought this on them!" She says to Chani in particular, with Kasia leaning down to check on the fallen man.
The throngs of people are an issue, to be sure, but as Ben and Rey weave their way through them, they're able to see the sniper jumping from fabricated store top to store top. "They're using jump boots!" Rey shouts, seeing the flame fire bursting from the boots of the attacker each time they pass the gaps over the alleyways! "I think they're headed for the transit cars!" She adds, as they are coming up on that junction that leads in to the station travel tubes where the speedy cars zip down the pipeways.
The store that Chani is walking in to seems calm now at the moment, though there are employees looking around at the mess on the floor where one probe droid is scattered to pieces. But a second is headed toward the doorway that Chani is coming inside of. It holds its blaster weapon up too as it stalks out toward the main hallway! It doesn't seem interested in Chani though as it seems to be zeroing in on Kasia and Draysin's body.
Meanwhile with Ben and Rey, they're quickly coming up on the transit cars as the sniper makes one final leap down toward one of the pipe entrances, landing with a quick crouch they look back to see their pursuers, and then smash their way through a line of waiting travelers to start to try and run down a open car tunnel!
Ben doesn't look back. He's already gone, running down the cramped streets, still crowded with bodies despite the panic, because there's just that many people on the Ring. The pedestrians are every shape, size, and species, but in his rush they become a blur, a blended mass of sapient life, and more than that, they are in the way. The elbows come out more than once to push his way through, sparing as many glances as he can upward to keep an eye on the fleeing sniper.
The chase leads to a tunnel meant for vehicle traffic, and when the assassin jumps down, so does Ben. He flings himself with reckless abandon over the railing, not taking any time to check what is at the bottom. Through natural agility and a lot of cheating, he lands on his feet and springs forward, tripping as his boot catches on a piece of debris, but before he can face-plant his hands come out, pushing at the ground not with skin and bone but with the Force, bumping his inertia back upright. He's off again, pounding down the darkened passage.
Kasia's eyes track after Ben and Rey for a few seconds, but then her gaze drops to the man on the ground. "I don't know what to do," she confesses to the man on the ground, hands flexing a couple of times before she tentatively reaches for the darts in his back. She plucks it out, first one, then another, doing the same thing for each dart protruding from his flesh. She drops them to the ground with a plink, plink, then checks his pulse again. "He's getting worse," she calls in to Chani, the alarm in her voice rising.
What to do, what to do. She's had some basic training in this sort of thing, but only very basic, not anything in toxins, this isn't a scrape or a broken bone, this isn't a wound she's trying to stop from bleeding. She is in out of her depth, but she's trying anyway, pulling items from the medkit that was in her bag out until she finds something that she thinks might work. Maybe. Hopefully. He's injected quickly, then she checks his pulse again. What she finds after that next check must not be good, because her expression goes grim and she drops back, sitting on the ground with a thud.
At the behest of Rey and lacking the ability to look after the man with all the darts sticking out of his back, Chani steps into the entrance of the store to see the various customers and employees all backed away from a mess of twisted and burnt metal that used to be a probe droid. Another approaches the door she is in the frame of, repulsorlifts warbling in distinct pulses while binary bursts of digitized noise. The extended, spindly arm carrying a blaster raised could be either in defense of its owner or is perhaps part of compromised progamming. Lacking the answer, Chani exhales deeply through her mouth and focuses on the energy that exists even in the molecules of air that make up the 'empty' space that she breathes and moves through.
The droid is suddenly brought to a halt, unable to move any farther and move any of its extremities. The strain of the repulsorlifts whines a little louder, but makes no difference. "Did the probe droids attack the man that just left here?" The question is poised to the sentients still within the shop. At the call that the man outside is getting worse, Chani calls back. "We passed a hospital back around the bend!"
Rey is right there behind Ben, chugging along at a good clip. Dio is bouncing around on her back as she goes, his conical head looking up at the sniper. "R-Rey. We should get j-jump boots too." He says, but the Jedi doesn't respond to him. She just keeps running after Ben's blocky figure ahead of her. "Excuse us!" Rey shouts after people jump out of Ben's way. "We're really sorry!" She adds to another group who nearly get knocked over by him.
"We're very sorry!" She says once more before seeing Ben jumping over the railing in to the transit car tunnel. "Oh... bother." She adds before she runs and leaps over it herself, her legs coming up as her clothing waves in the wind around her, clearing it easily she lands beside him and is about to pass ahead of Ben in pursuit of the man, when they are both now running side by side down the tunnel.
"This is a very bad idea!" She says over to him in an urgent, if not worried voice!
Back at the store....
The droid is frozen in place now. It is trying to figure out why it can't move. It's little robot head twisting and turning as it's body tries to free itself. It's not until Chani speaks that it's red eye looks over at her next. It hears what she asks the store employees, who all nod and start pointing at it. They exclaim that there were two of them and Draysin blasted one before running out.
The droid pieces two and two together, it's blaster arm going to Chani!
It fires!
"I'm out of good ones," Ben retorts ominously to Rey as he runs after the attempted assassin. Whether the attempt was successful or not is a question for later. This tunnel is made for vehicles, not foot-traffic, which means anything on foot-level that doesn't impede a speeder doesn't get picked up... ever. There's trash, there's broken droids, there's rusting speeders, there's a bouquet of flowers tossed out by an unforgiving lover from the back of a taxi, and through it all, the chase continues.
There's two things that can happen after one has been running for a while; either they will lose all steam and stop, or they'll break through that into the space where the going doesn't get easier but it doesn't get any harder. Ben bulls into that space with a will, each step drawing him inexorably closer to the assassin.
The shooter glances back over their shoulder, sees that he is catching up. Panic gives speed to their flight.
But Ben can tell he's getting closer too, and he picks up speed as he does. Finally he takes a skip onto the hood of a rusted landspeeder, bounces forward with a groaning metallic POP as the sheetmetal caves in, and launches himself into a full-body tackle at the knees.
"I think it's too late for a hospital." There's a moment of harsh disappointment at the turn of events, but Kasia is quick to shake herself out of it. She can be solemn and brooding later, there's stuff to do right now. Her gaze skims over the man again, then falls on the removed darts. One of them is carefully picked up and held before she closes her eyes.
What she sees is clear, and spurs her into immediate action. She drops the dart into a space in her medkit, where she'll hopefully remember it later. In case it can tell them anything. Then she packs the whole thing back into her bag and hops to her feet. "There's an old Y-Wing in the main hanger, I think the assassin came here in that. I'm going!" she relays this to Chani quickly then turns to take off in that direction at a run.
As soon as the sentients inform her that the probe droids did attack the man that was in here, the probe droid reacts. Its arm yanks around despite her focus on keeping it immobilized. She sees it in her mind's eye before it happens, leading to a simple backstep with her left foot and turn of her left shoulder. The discharged bolt from the probe droid strikes the nearby wall, tainting it with carbon scoring and leaving a flicker of flame dancing in the chunk carved out from it. A moment after, the blaster itself is crushed so severely that chunks of it fall uselessly to the floor, leaving the probe droid unable to utilize it any longer. Kasia yells about running to the main hangar for the assassin's ship and Chani is left with those gathered in the shop and the affected probe droid. "Please restrain the droid."
Rey runs right after Ben as fast as she's able with all this junk and nasty stuff around. The tabards of her clothing catch on the old rusty edge of a speeder and she's suddenly halted. "Ah!" She grunts before she tears her tabard off of the spike it got hooked upon. "Why do I even wear these things..." She grumbles unhappily as she tries to catch up with Ben when he tackles the sniper to the ground inside the tunnel...
Right on to the track.
"Ben!" Rey shouts... seeing a light down the tunnel... Dio chimes up, from over her shoulder. "Something is coming, R-Rey."
Back at the store....
The employees all jump when the blaster goes off again, but Chani dodges it! This gets a cheer from one of the younger employees at seeing the impressive dodge. The others all rush the droid to try and take it down, holding stun weapons in their hands designed for this purpose.
The probe droid opens a little hatch on its underbelly and a buzzing meelee saw comes whirling out! It continues to try and defend itself! It hacks at the salvage store employees as they get closer, pushing them back again.
Outside... Kasia has a bit of a run on her hands to get back to the hangar, and the crowds are still riled up from the chaos. There is also two floating security droids coming now, scanning the crowd to look for the cause of all of this madness!
Back in the tunnel...
The sniper is armored in a nice, but concealing, set of custom made armor. They are tackled to the tracks by Ben and let out a loud grumph of a noise! They roll over and attempt to skewer Ben with a gauntlet knife!
This sort of thing was easier when he went by Kylo. He could just lock them in place, or have his troops chase them down. All he had to do was say 'bring him to me' and it happened. Conversely, he's just taken a tumble onto the tracks with this person and he still doesn't have a good hold on them.
Tracks? What sort of tunnel is this? It's a bad time to wonder about it, though, and his attention is brought back to more pressing matters as the assassin knees him in the face, a sharp crack across the temple that isn't enough to dislodge him. Ben flails upward, trying to grab the gun and shove it into the shooter's chin, but he misses and it just clanks against one of the rails.
The shooter tugs the barrel free, trying to angle the long weapon down at Ben where he's wrapped around their legs, but the shot goes over his head and clinks off of the tunnel wall. Every time they try to squirm free, Ben clamps back down again, and every time he tries to incapacitate them, they squirm just an inch free. It's FRUSTRATING. "REY! Help!" It's not a panicked cry, it's an exasperated demand.
After the failed shot, out comes that gauntlet knife, and the "REY" from Ben gets repeated when it whispers past his eye.
Kasia is grateful for the sensible shoes that she's wearing as she has to run. Running is hard enough as it is, though she has somewhat taken the advice she's been given for years and made more of an effort to work on her cardio, so she makes the run in good time. Even if she is huffing and puffing by the time she reaches the hangar. There's a stitch in her side, but it's not so bad that she can't massage it out while looking for the Y-Wing she saw with the help of the force, and spot it she does. It doesn't take long before it is in view, as is the pilot inside, and she -- disheveled and a bit sweaty -- tries to casually approach the ship without looking like that's what she's there for.
When the employees go for the probe droid and it deploys a whirring saw from within its compartment despite being attacked with stun devices meant to incapacitate it, Chani doesn't crush the saw. The whole chassis of the droid crumples inward, triggering sparks and forcing the glass covering the red light constituting its eye to crack and burst. The droid collapses to the floor, saw no longer spinning and blaster arm mangled. "Forgive me." Stepping over to the counter, Chani's arm emerges from within her robe to set a large denomination of credits onto the counter. "I hope this covers it." Looking among the gathered, she makes a gesture towards the door. "Is someone able to help me? I need to take the man outside to the hospital." Dead or alive, they can't leave his body on the concourse if for nothing other than decency.
Rey reaches the edge of the track and sees the heated combat unfolding upon it. She hears Ben call out for help, and her eyes go down the track to the two lights that are barreling toward the two men on the pathway!
"I...." Rey stumbles as she reaches out a hand and tries to focus on the both of them. But the chaos of the tunnel and the situation at hand is too much. "Roll, Ben!" She shouts then. "To your right!"
At the hangar...
Kasia is approaching the Y-Wing when the pilot looks up from his datapad and gets spooked. Something about her sets him off. He drops the datapad and flings his left hand forward. The canopy snaps shut over his head, as the Y-Wing rumbles to life. He looks around inside the cockpit and sees the security droids coming in to the hangar as well...
It's enough to set him in stone. They've been had.
The Y-Wing starts to lift up off the ground, its repulsors wobbling the ship up in to the air as it spins toward the entrance of the corridor...
And begins blasting with its twin laser cannons!
The hangar erupts in to chaos!
At the store...
The employees crowd around the smashed droid on the deck. They look from it to Chani, before a weathered old woman accepts the credits with a heartfelt 'Thank you!." Two of the more burly employees go with Chani outside to gather up the body off the ground. They have to chase off young pick pockets who were already trying to get at Drayson's belongings.... They hoist his body up and follow the Jedi where she leads them...
But up ahead... the blasts from the Y-Wing slam in to the corridor sending bodies and sparks everywhere!
Rey's cry to roll right echoes against the tunnel walls, and there isn't long for Ben to wonder why before the train comes barreling into view, streaming light ahead though the conductor inside is just an astromech droid who neither monitors nor is programmed to care what's on the tracks ahead unless it's large enough to damage the train. Its approach rattles the tracks in their casements, setting teeth vibrating in skulls, and the man in black does what Rey instructs, barrel-rolling aggressively to the right.
Unfortunately, the assassin understands Basic and does the same thing, following after Ben and aiming a wild poke of that knife at him as they do. The tight quarters are protective, though, and it digs into the floor instead. Ben grabs ahold once more but not to anything important.
The pilot spots Kasia. Kasia spots the pilot. There's a moment where she just stares at him, but then he's reaching for something and a little tickling in the back of her brain tells her to move. She's learned to not ignore that pull, and she throws herself to the side, just managing to avoid being shot by a Y-Wing. There's a grunt as she hits the ground, and a roll that turns into her springing back onto her feet. She doesn't really think through her next move, which is to charge straight for the Y-Wing that is taking off and jump. She launches herself higher than she should be able to, landing with a thud against the canopy. She can see the pilot, the pilot can see her. She points at the man and shouts, "LAND NOW!" There's no force push behind that command yet, fervently hoping that he just obeys so she doesn't have to.
The destructive force of Taim and Bak designed laser cannons is put on display inside the Wheel. Twin bursts of fire rip through durasteel and breach multiple decks, exposing some to the vacuum of space. The old station is not in the best state of repair and not all of the decks have the benefit of sealing bulkheads or ray shielding deploying over the gaps left by the powerful nature of hundreds of terawatts charging the blast. Chani's in the process of leading two of the employees to the hospital with Draysin Bell when she suddenly screams, "GET DOWN!" A breath after and the Slayn and Korpil Y-Wing's cannons pierce through the middle ring and expose it to the void. The explosive decompression outright kills some and the brief seconds of time between the exposure to space and this floor's shielding activating sees others flung out into the darkness. She's not sure whether it's luck or something else that keeps her alive.
The deck's lighting in their current section fails, replaced by intermittent red lights and wailing klaxons. Stumbling up from the ground not quite where she'd thrown herself to it, Chani's messed hair and face are exposed from her hood being whipped off her head. Ahead, in the distance, the blue glow of the ray shielding covering the gaping hole between station wall and space casts an eerie light on everyone around it. "Everyone needs to evacuate!" It's unlikely that they'll hear her shout over the noise, but the sentients are scrambling already. Chani sets her hand on the shoulders of the men who had been helping her take Draysin to the hospital. "You need to leave this deck immediately. I have to go. Please help those you can."
Stumbling over debris skewed everywhere and a collapsed column that had just barely missed her when it collapsed in the first place, Chani begins heading for the docking bays.
In the tunnel...
The train car whips past Ben and the Sniper as they roll out of the way. Rey watches in fright at first. The lights on the car zipping past rushing across her face, her loose strands of hair whipping across her eyes and nose.
But the car passes in an instant.... and she sees the fighting still going.
The snap hiss of a lightsaber fills the tunnel now as Rey swings it down to cut off the man's attacking hand!
"Stop!" She orders him after doing this. "This is over!"
The Sniper howls in shock and awe at losing his hand. His arm comes up as he looks at the burnt husk of his wrist. He falls back on the ground, his helmeted face looking from Rey to Ben now. It looks like he's about to attack again though...
In the hangar....
The Y-Wing pilot sees Kasia leap at his ship like some kind of wild monkey woman! He shifts around in the cockpit in surprise, but keeps turning his vessel toward the open hangar doors! He doesn't seem to want to listen to her words of warning.
The security klaxons are going off now all over the hangar, and the alert-ready E-Wings are being rushed to by their pilots as they can't help but look up at the woman on top of the fleeing Y-Wing!
It's all chaos around Chani now though, people rushing away from the damaged areas left behind by the Y-Wing as it starts to angle itself toward space and the open hangar doors that are starting to close now...
Kasia has to act quickly or space will become a lot more real to her!
The assailant loses a limb and the hand-to-hand combat stops being that. Ben has a feeling, though, that it's shifting to hand-to-head combat. "No," is all he has to say about that, and he finally puts out a hand towards the shooter's head, forcefully pinning it down to the floor of the tunnel with a thump of skull against stone that is more satisfying than it probably should be. Frowning intensely, covered in grime and grease, Solo pulls himself upright, still exerting that downward pressure to keep the man in his place. "You should have listened," he mutters reprovingly.
To the spectators of this whole incident, Kasia probably looks like a raving mad woman, and to be fair she might be. Rather than do the sensible thing and immediately leap off the flying ship, she leans in closer and does her best to try and steer the ship from the outside. Her face is set in a look of severe concentration, one hand braced against the cockpit view-port, but alas some things are not meant to be. In the end the pilot wins the struggle, and she is left with a couple of options, neither of them good, but one is significantly worse. She makes an angry sound that comes from the back of her throat, pounding the hand against the ship a single time before she abandons ship, literally, rolling right off the side. This is not the first time she's fallen, but possibly the first time from quite this high. Her braid has come loose by this point, so her dark hair is flailing around her head as she plummets down, slamming into another ship along the way. She rolls off that one too, and then hits the ground. It's not a terribly graceful landing, but she's not dying in the vacuum of space, so she'll take it.
Coughing from a mixture of dust and whatever other particulates were sucked out of the air recyclers, Chani weaves through the masses of fleeing sentients. Some are scrambling for different decks while some are gathering outside the docking bays of the station. The door is sealed and refuses to open, partially because of the lack of power and mostly because the outer hangar is opening and exposing itself to vacuum instead of just having its shielding up. Chani can barely make it to the doors leading in because of the squeeze of the sentients pressing in around it. Glimpsing through the narrow window, Chani can see the Y-Wing that's starting to take off and trying to escape. Drawing her comlink off her belt, Chani rapidly speaks into it.
The ramp to a ship within the hangar descends and a blue and white BB unit rolls down its slope, using its stabilizer cables to shoot at the hangar floor to drag itself more rapidly along towards a wall and one of the access points built into it. Compartment popping open, Sky's datalink arm deploys forward and into the wall to interface. Quick twists in alternating directions see lights along the access point rapidly flicker red and then flare green. Ahead, where the Y-Wing is attempting to race out through the doors, it suddenly encounters the hangar rapidly slamming shut around its frame and crushing the ship behind where the tongue of the cockpit is jutted forward. Separated from its main body, the cockpit begins to tumble through space with the pilot uncrushed inside, no longer able to escape.
Sky is quick to relay this information to the comlinks of Rey, Ben, Kasia, and Chani, though the latter lacks even the most basic understanding of binary and is too busy feeling relief flood through her when the hangar closes instead of allowing more sentients on the station to be dragged out into the vacuum.
In the hangar...
The Y-Wing is crushed by the doors sliding shut across its hull. The pilot is sent tumbling out in to space in his sealed-cockpit. A swarm of repair droids leave the outer shell of the Wheel and rush to the Y-Wing's aid to seal up the damage further to protect the fleeing pilot inside.
