Log:Jedi Order: Family and Visions Part II
Jedi restore the peace of a desecrated tomb
OOC Date: August 03, 2020
Location: Ossus
Participants: Ben Solo, Rey, Finn, Elrych Cometburn, Vhe Tenara, Liren, Ban Iskender, Jax Greystorm, Aryn Cole, Jedi Order
The Ysanna, albeit a primitive sect of native dwellers upon the ashen world of Ossus, protected many things in their long and mysterious history upon the world. Drawn from the blood of the survivors who had lived through the cataclysmic, they were a people who were genetically built to survive.
Ossus was was not an easy place. Much of it was desert, with tall ridges of rock that had thousands of years of ashen tinted burns etched into the stone. Tall towers and statues once stood in many places, now fallen and decaying back into sand, hinting at a golden age where knowledge, justice, and peace all reigned.
Well beyond the plateau, and rolling sand-rock hills, the black mountains, and the ruins of the past, sat another rock wall roughly 100m tall, that stretched for miles to the north and south. At its center, where it was cut into the heart of a black ashen mountain, the pillars of a grand central capital were carved from the stone and sculpted to stand the test of time. They had stood the test of time, and the glare of an ancient supernova star, and now decorated the face of the wall with a ghostly image of architecture.
Winds whipped by here like soft wails of something dying, and yet there was peace. A balance. To the Ysanna, this was holy ground; sacred stones; It is where they come to rest.
This sacred place had lost its name. There was no text or archive that detailed its existence, no banner that depicted its construction. It was shared through each generation, and never published. The Ysanna believed the dead deserved their peace, and that they earned an eternal slumber that should go undisturbed.
The Jedi find themselves outside this structure after something prompted Vhe to heed a warning. The peace here was disturbed, and the proof of this lay before them. For at the foot of the memorialized stone cept cut into the ashen mountain sit a small convoy of speeder trucks, effects strewn out in a manner to suggest excavation.
The Jedi park their speeders to get a better bearing of the situation before preparing to move ahead.
The last time she had been here what they had searched for did not truly come to anything but now settled here before the sacred grounds, she watches the trucks. Numbers are taken note of and more as she breathes deeply of the air. Wild hair is left restrained at the back of her neck when the wind stirs to whip a few strands of hair free. Finally she steps down from the speeder and takes a few steps forward to get a better look. "What are they doing here? I do not think they would want the remains of any of my people."
Her lips firm into a line. "I think we might be able to get closer. Hopefully ascertain what is going on." She remarks, giving a considering look but her hands flex as if she might be holding back from action she wishes to take.
"That depends..." Elrych says as he comes into postion beside Vhe. He wears his usual dark green robes, hood down for the time being. He's put his shades on, protecting against the glare of the desert suns above. The brigh light mirrors in their dark lenses. "Grave robbers are grave robbers. Might be more desperate if they're locals, you know?" He frows, pursing his lips together. A nod in affirmation to her. "Sounds like a good idea."
Ban Iskender is attired in pale grey battle armor, with a wind-tossed green half-cape tied over his left shoulder. Regarding the ancient ruins amid the desolation, the young nobleman comments evenly to Vhe and Elrych, "Alas that those who least understand the past are they who oft seek most to possess its echoes."
Liren stands next to her speeder, one hand balanced on the seat as she looks towards the pillar singing with the passage of the wind in this sacred place. A gust of wind tugs at her green hood, whipping it back from her dark brown hair. She raises a pair of macrobinoculars to study the array of trucks scattered before the ancient monument then lowers them at Ban's comment. "Ignorant of the past and dangerous now," she adds wryly.
Rey pilots one of the landspeeders up to this site and pulls the silvery throttle back upon it to deactivate it's acceleration, bringing the vehicle to a slow stop near the others. She reaches up to raise her goggles up on to her forehead and then swipe a hand over her tied-back hair as loose strands streak across her face.
Rising up out of the interior of the landspeeder, Rey hops over the edge of it before spinning around to gather up her belongings out of its back seat. She puts her satchel on over her head, letting the strap hanging from right shoulder to left hip, then adjusts it as she walks to join the others and stare ahead.
"We're explorers." She tells everyone, simply reminding them. "Lets keep our lightsabers hidden and out of sight, yeah? If we come across others, perhaps thats enough to make them leave us be."
The new guy was here and riding with somebody as well Jax probably wasn't safe driving. Taking him into combat may be questionable. His hood pulled up to hide his face. He did smell of bacta from the patches on his torso and head. So Liren was stuck with him or rather he rode with her. He had gotten out of the speeder and was leaning on a staff favoring his left side. As she talks of, Ignorance,' Jax lets out a, 'hmm. There appears to be some speeder trucks down there. I take it they're not acheologist form the University?"
Finn dismounts the speeder gingerly, wearing his robes in such a way as to conceal the blaster and lightsaber he carries. He's still heavily bandaged around the shoulder and neck, and he winces a little with pain as he climbs down to the ground. He obediently keeps his weapons hidden, though the grim look on his face and the fresh scars on his neck suggest someone who doesn't live and entirely peaceful life.
"The Force has led us here for a reason," Airs one of the smallest from the group. Aryn steps free from her speeder bike and takes a moment to cast her cape back and draw up her protective goggles to look at the ruins of ashen stone and ancient structure. She often felt drawn to certain structures like these. For an explorer, or someone who once took pride in calling themselves an explorer, a chance to exhume the past was an addiction. One had not truly lived until they had excavated a unique eating utensil and debated its intricate use!
However, there were lines even explorers did not cross. This was one of them. Leave the dead to their peace. Ban's words sting a bit, but there's truth to them and Aryn ponders the statement while looking upon the stone cept and ruins.
Clouds overhead shift quickly; far more quickly than most planets and cyan flashes of lightning brighten the land where shadows are cast. Idle thunder roars, though there is no threat of actual rain.
"Miss Vhe, what is the purpose of this place?" Aryn asks, looking for a route to take so they might get closer to the ruins and discover the truth behind this heeded warning. At Rey's guidance to store away their lightsabers, Aryn places her own inside a satchel.
The recommendation of remaining as mere explorers to those they are going to approach is noted and she slides her stunsaber into the deep pocket of her robe. Its a simple motions as the worry furrows her brows deeper, drawing lines in her forehead as she glances to the others again before Aryn questions her.
"Where those of my people rest. Graverobbers indeed. Maybe they are looking for relics or hints of where to find something lost. Either way they are where they should not be. We do not even trek these grounds unless we have need to consult our ancestors. Ysanna have always had a connection to the force...it used to be stronger but most of us have marginal use and understanding of it now." The dry air feels like home and she steps forward.
"Best to get closer to see exactly what they are doing." She starts forward then. See what they are doing seems to mean 'and stop them'.
As Ban spoke, Elrych turned his head towards him. There is a long moment where he just looks at his fellow Jedi through those dark shades before he turns his attention back towards the orange and black craged ruins. A glance towards Rey and Jax, a nod given. He tucks his cloak tighter around him, obscuring the black and gold lightsaber that hung from his back belt. When Vhe starts towards the ruins and speeders, Elrych faithfully follows shortly behind her and to the left. His eyes roam about, cautioun surrounding him.
Ban Iskender leaves his lightsaber affixed to the scabbard at his side, looking like the elaborate hilt of a more common sword. A short nod acknowledges the direction to remain discreet, and he walks toward the remains of antiquity alongside the others.
Pulling her cloak more tightly around her, Liren automatically pats the stun saber that hangs from the sash of her layered robes.
"Jax, ready for this?"
Rey's hands go up to her shoulders to gather up the edges of her hood. She draws it up from the back of her shoulders to drape it over the three spherical buns of hair she has traditionally tied up behind her head. With her hood on, Rey glances over to the others as they walk toward the mysterious site with the mysterious convoy of speeder trucks.
To Vhe, Rey speaks up, walking alongside her on her left. "The Ysanna sound like an interesting people. I'd very much like to meet more of them. They seem like some might be prone to joining us, and learning a larger amount about the ways of the Force. We could certainly use more help too."
She pays another glance to the others, then looks ahead again as they proceed onward toward the site.
"Perhaps we can scare them off. WIthout violence. I would recommend maybe we scout out what they've already taken and liberate it?" He looks to Liren to Elrych and finally Rey, "Unless this is some type of hazing ritual? I'm as ready as I ever will be."
"I'm not looking for another fight," Finn admits, peering off into the distance, "But a group like this? With all this Force?" Does he not know the terminology yet? How long has he been with them? "I'm sure we can make them scatter. Jax is right."
The way forward was down a steep berm, then over wavy like sand that kicked up light dust clouds with their steps. As they drew closer to the vehicles and strewn cargo containers, the sound of the wind howling no longer sounded like wind at all. It was the echoing voices from inside the ruins, and they were screaming!
The speeder trucks contained very little at all. Most of it was gear they had brought themselves; equipment used to dig, pry, prop, and break stone. The speeders were turned off, and inside they might spot rifle racks to hold blaster weapons (all of them were empty.) They also had communications equipment, but it sounded like someone was using a transponder to breath heavily into their mic, the sounds of distant screams and loud roaring conveyed over the speaker, only to echo moments later to the surface.
"A resting place for the Ysanna." Aryn echoed on the way over. "It is haunting and humbling all at once. The structures, I mean--" Aryn grows quiet as her expression changes to something of worry. "Yet something stirs in the deep. What do we do?"
"You might be able to find a connection with them but we are a shadow of what we once were. But allies all the same," she remarks to Rey as they approach, her dark eyes offering full attention to her surroundings as they walk across sacred ground. She murmurs in her native tongue and glances back to Finn and Jax when she hears the screaming followed by a roar.
"Its a beautiful place...but..there are dangers here and it seems as if the robbers have found some. Kirruks most like," she remarks and seems pleased at least, her smile cooking up to one side before she approaches the communication devices with a quick look around to be sure they are alone on the surface. She listens for a moment, gaze narrowing. "We go in and we might get caught in the crossfire...but we will take them by surprise if we do. But the Kirruk could turn against us...we were here once before and we encountered them." She takes a few steps towards the opening.
It had taken Elrych a moment to register that Jax was here. It's not like he wasn't used to doing missions with him or seeing him around... but here he was on a Jedi thing. It causes the Correlian to pause. "Wait..." He turns and looks over his fellow Corellian, noticing the robes. "What are you doing here?" There might be a slight contortion of disapointment on his lips as he turns and starts walking. "Damnit... I wanted to have a heart to heart. I was even going to say." He clears his throat, "Jax... you never had to leave. And it would have been perfect like that Holo-drama everyone likes so much." Then he frowns even more. "Man... now I sound like Ren. Uhg. Gota have everything you're way." He looks back over his shoulder. "Welcome back." A shrug is given before he returns his attention ahead of him. "Well... if it comes down to it you guys hand out around in the back and cheer us on. I think Vhe left some Pom-poms in the back seat of our speeder." He flashes that cheesey grin to those following, indicating he was simply just joking and totally unserious. His gaut was similar, walking right into a hornets nest so casually was not done by lesser men or women.
He leans over to look into a couple of the speeders before rejoining Vhe at the entrance. He winces at the sounds of screams coming from down bellow. "Well... I mean, just because they're grave robbers doesn't mean they should be bone meal..." A pause, "Right?" As if asking to make sure he wasn't the only one with that observation.
Another speeder kicks up the dust as it careens along towards the others, a man in black sat astride the saddle, his mop of unruly black hair streaming in the wind. The bike pulls in behind where the Jedi band have left their vehicles, and he swings a leg over the side with a grimace, his pale face twisted into a frown that by now most everyone is familiar with. As he picks his way delicately through the rocky terrain towards the others, it's clear Ben is favoring his left side. When he gets closer, the gaping, singed hole in the black jacket he wears gives a suggestion as to why.
Managing to catch up just as the noises are beginning to filter through the comms and then out of the cave. Dark eyes consider the entrance with caution. "We're going in there anyway, aren't we?" The heel of his hand rubs absently at his ribs. "I remember the kirruks. I hope the kirruks don't remember us."
Ban Iskender turns a slow, curious look aside to Jax, echoing as if to be sure he'd heard correctly, "Hazing ritual?" The curiosity passes as the howling of wind turns to more sentient screams. With an arched brow and hastened steps, the soldier ventures, "I'll risk the crossfire, when the alternative is that all of them die- which I daresay is what the Kirruks intend."
The sand hisses against Liren's cloak as they move between the trucks. Empty weapon racks point to the cause of the distant screams that break the peace of the desert towers.
"Wild Kirruks and grave robbers should make for a lively exploration. I'd rather not be remembered by them, in fact," she comments in a low voice to herself. Elrych's speech to Jax about returning to the fold has her casting a curious glance at the man before she follows in the other's paths towards the ruins.
Rey had smiled at Vhe after hearing her speak of her people being a shadow of their former selves. "Every shadow yields to light again, eventually." She replies before her stare darts over to Jax and she shows the man a soft smirk. "I believe we've all had enough of a 'hazing' the past few years. What lies ahead is---"
She cuts herself off as the screaming starts to become more audibly clear, carried upon the Ossus winds...
A quick decision, but one for what she believes to be the best. Not a second goes by after Ben asks that question that... "We have to help them!" And Rey starts to move, a full sprint toward the direction that the screams are emanating from! So much for her earlier words too, because she reaches for her satchel to grab at the lightsaber clipped to the back of it!
"We had that moment right after you stole my pastery." Jax says to Elrych. He reaches into his pocket of his utility belt and flips a coin to Elrych, "Here kid, Never I say I got you anything.I've been meaning to give that too you. We'll talk a bit more later. I think we got more pressing matters. Like saving idiots from certin doom." He tries to straighten up and walk right, "Sorry guys I'd claim it's the pain killers but my sense of humor is horrible on the best of days." He still doesn't walk right but he goes for his saber.
"Go no further, offworlders!" Myri steps in front of their path, setting the pole of her heavy polearm against the stone to strike a heavy percussive response as if to punctuate her imperative statement. Myri, clearly Ysanna, is joined by a second who stands at an easy 6'6, broad and armored. The song of metal against a scabbard heralds the manifestation of his big sword, and he places its tip into the stone before him, cradling the hilt with two gloved hands.
"These are sacred grounds. They belong to our people and must not be disturbed. Those who arrived and disturbed the peace of this place have earned their fate. They take what does not belong to them, and the Kirruk return the favor. Blood stains the stones of this peaceful place. The spirits grow restless. We do not wish to fight you, but we are prepared to do what must be done to appease the spirits here..."
As the others all move to step forward, Vhe is conflicted in this matter. The natural order and peace of things is also being robbed from this place. Choices were made. Bad ones and now the consequences are playing out. But the sudden appearance of Muri and her companion, both armed are given a long look. Watching them for a moment she lets out a breath.
"We do not wish to disturb this place. A warning I received brought us here ...but who's tomb is this? Tenara?" she presses her hands to her chest and takes another step forward no hesitation in regards to their warning. "I am Vhe Tenara." She offers that up and makes a motion to the others. "Ysanna. These are the members of the Jedi Order, sages and warriors of the Force. Let us pass. All life is sacred even in this place."
Elrych catches the coin tossed to him by Jax. He looks it over, thumb rubbing over the initials carved into what appears to be an old republic credit. "A Jedi Credit?" There is a moment of pause before he raises it up and gives Jax a smile. "Thanks man..." He pockets it before turning to follow Rey and Vhe inside.
He stops as Myri confronts them with her larger more armored friend. Elrych's hands go up. "We're just here to help and..." He nods to Vhe, "What she said."
Elrych Cometburn also too off his shades before entering the ruins... so he's not blind.
"These are sacred grounds," Ben repeats seriously, happy enough to seize on an excuse NOT to go charging after Rey, indicating the mouth of the tomb with an outstretched hand. "There's an ecosystem here to deal with this sort of thing, whoever went in there knew the risks." Evidently he is on team Local Ysanna. "Let this place take care of itself." He holds open palms up towards the two warriors, positioning himself slightly behind Vhe in a show of deference to her claim at legitimacy.
Ban Iskender's hasty steps come to a sudden and dusty stop as two Ysanna warriors emerge to block their path. He has yet to draw his own lightsaber, remaining silent as Vhe takes the lead in dealing with her own people.
Once, Liren found a book on the Ysanna in the family library and spent a rainy afternoon curled up in a nook reading it. The two people facing them look like they stepped out of the pages illustrating their ancient past. Rapt with interest, she watches Vhe negotiate with the two, her hands quietly at her side. She nods in concert with the others, willing them to feel their peaceful intentions.
Jax grins, "He gets it." Then the other Ysanna are talking to VHe. This was her show and her people. He stands behind her ready to support her. Though he ask Ben Solo, " What's a Kirruks?"
Rey is ultimately intercepted by the guards to this 'sacred place'. She stops her run and takes a pair of steps back as the sword is drawn and planted into the ground. She looks the guards over carefully and then looks aside to those who travel with her when they approach to speak with them.
A glance is given to Ben too, but she doesn't pay much heed to it. She, instead, steps once forward, her booted right foot extended in front of her. "I can make these people never come back here." She tries to assure the guards. "Their lives are not the price that has to be paid. Their education in the error of their ways is a far better lesson learned, because /that/ is a lesson that can be taught to others, so that they may not repeat this same mistake."
She points toward the danger. "These people can be taught to spread change, rather than letting them die... which achieves /literally/ nothing."
At the small presentation from Vhe, Myri passes the polearm off to her companion. Stepping forward, the lightly armored female stands equal to Vhe's height, sharing her skin tone, and even the color of her eyes. She looks into Vhe's gaze for a moment, then raises her bare hand, showing no threat or ill intent before claiming the Ysanna's chin to turn Vhe's head. A slow inspection and she releases her with a nod. "You speak truly, Vhe Tenara. I see it in your eyes, I hear it in your voice. You /are/ Tenara." Myri steps back. Arili is the one who speaks next, his voice deep and accented.
"A wise choice, Jedi." Said to Ben before looking at Jax. "They are our companions, our beasts and allies. They answer to us, and carry out the will of our people. Many foe have fallen to our Kirruks."
"There is a lesson to be found in death, miss." Myri regards Rey as she climbs the stairs, screaming echoing in the distance. "It ensures no others are told of this place so that they might bring more." She smiles. "When they are dead, they will not repeat it. For only the Ysanna may enter when summoned; to come here willingly is to die here, for it is meant for the dead. We keep it that way."
Myri takes up her polearm as the screaming goes quiet for the moment. "It is coincidence that you arrive here Tenara. By your own admission, you received a warning. That serves as invitation. Arili and I have been inside, saw the desecration of the crypts. Your clan's crypts. Only your blood will bring your dead peace. We will allow you to pass. Take with you what you will, and spray yourselves with this. The Kirruks will know you from foe." Myri offers a spray. It has no scent they can detect.
Arili and Myri step to one side then. "Go. Bring peace back to your kin. We will remain here until you and your companions are done. Should you spare any inside, we leave their fate to you."
When Vhe is accepted she feels the presence of the others and turns her head to Ben he echoes her own thoughts. The words she did not say. And then her gaze turns to that of Rey and she hesitates a moment, watching her. A breath is exhaled. "They are right, witnesses spread the knowledge and it puts this place further at risk. It needs to be restored and forgotten by offworlders."
She nods to Myri, potentially having some understanding of what might lie ahead and as they are all given some sort of deterrent for the Kirruks she slips past them with the others, heading down into the crypts of the Ysanna. The wild hair is brushed from her face to clear her vision. Her hand strays to her robe where she tucked her stunsaber and pulls it free, lighting it to offer illumination more than use it to defend herself.
Elrych looks to Ben before he glances to Rey. "They may be right. It would be a natural course. We could threaten to unbalance things if we interfere. At any rate, someone told them how to get here if they're off world. Perhaps we should find out who, herm?" He gives a slight smile before stepping up to be sprayed with some Kirruk piss. "At least it doesn't smell..." Yet... Then, he pulls his lightsaber from his belt as he enters into the darker parts of the tombs with Vhe and the others yet does not light it yet.
"You won't like it," Ben answers quietly to Jax, low under his breath, looking at the back of Rey's head. He reaches under his jacket, frowning again as he confirms something there with his fingers. "You're not going to like this either."
Stepping forward towards the mouth of the tomb, he steps pointedly around the two Ysanna bodyguards with not much of the special spray reaching him. "Don't interfere once we're inside. My respect for sacred ground wears thin," he cautions the pair with a warning look, his body tense to hide the debilitation under his jacket. Hurrying ahead, he waves to Vhe and Elrych as he passes. "There will be time to brood on your lost history after we deal with what's inside."
Ban Iskender watches the Ysanna exchange play out, and listens as the screams go ominously silent. A short bow of the head and shoulders is given toward the Ysanna guardians as their band is given leave to pass. Then, his gauntleted hand will go to the hilt of his lightsaber, drawing the elegant weapon as they step within. "In regard to brooding, sir, your mastery is beyond dispute," he quips dryly to Ben when the other speaks to Vhe and Elrych.
After passing the spray over herself quickly, Liren hands it on to Jax. "Think it's going to smell badly later, do you? Better than dancing with a Kirruk." The hum of lightsabers being ignited inspires her to remove her stun saber and extend the blade. Frowning at Ben Solo's words she follows the others toward the tombs.
Rey lets her eyes go from one to the other, who respond to her. She has a different viewpoint on it all, needless to say, but she keeps it to herself. When Ben passes her by, she looks after him before she glances back to Finn. "Finn, could you please stay here and make sure the way out is kept clear for us?" She asks of her friend. Mostly because he's injured still... And because she is very much against him getting /further/ injured.
She turns then and starts to trail after Ben, giving a glance toward the Ysanna natives as she too passes them by. She keeps her saber held in her left hand, gripping it tightly by the leather wrapped around it's grip.
"I really am happy to be honest when on a mission but I'll take it under advisement." Jax says as he sprays himself and then hands it to somebody else. He keeps his hand wrapped around his saber a moment. "I think saying I got a bad feeling about this goes without saying."
"I will remain with the honorable guardians and Mr. Finn." Aryn declares. "There is much I wish to know from them." Aryn has taken heed of Ben's warning, and as a show of solidarity, she remains to ensure they do not betray the Jedi. This is not voiced. Even Aryn's tone is genuine in that way a nerdy scholar finds something interesting to talk about. Mother save them.
The tombs begin with an open corridor. Wide, tall, and arching, the ancient stone is dull and holds only the faint glowing hue of each lightsaber/stunsaber that passes beneath it. The place is dark, save for glowing-sticks that have been dropped along the pathway to mark the way out. (Thanks grave robbers!!)
When they go further into the ruins, they have to go down a massive staircase. The surrounding darkness feels as if it might swallow them whole, and what light is cast from their lightsabers and the glowsticks, seems humble compared to what lay dormant and quiet in the dark.
It does not take long for them to reach the Tenara crypts. It's a large wing all its own, with a lower ceiling, and rows of honored caskets. Here, there is light. Artificial light stands flicker, and the gore of a graverobbing party of mixed sentients is apparent. There are living things here, and the sounds they make suggest they're eating. The Jedi arriving earns the Kirruks' attention. Four in total raise their massive heads, each consisting of massive mouths filled with razorsharp teeth, and eyes that hold the light in an eerie way when it's shined in their direction. One gobbles down a Duros arm, snapping the bone with a crunch, swallowing, and burping.
There's another sense in the air too. A feeling of fear. There are survivors here.. somewhere. The Kirruks seem uninterested in the Jedi. They lumber around taking heavy steps, sniffing and licking at blood puddles.
Many of the crypt's caskets have been disturbed. Casket lids have been pried open, the dead inside long since transformed to skeletons wearing their final clothing, jewelry, and other trinkets. A larger casket near the middle, reserved for the seers of a family, has one casket disturbed there too. Its top is partially off, the interior still shrouded in the dark, for blood paints the casket where a robber had an unfortunate end.
There is likely nothing left to save and as Rey and Ben moves past her already descending steps she takes the time to observe what they pass but staying with the rest. She lifts her saber high over her head to offer the deep shadows and angles that cast different edges and shapes as they move. The various colors clashing across the surfaces to paint the tomb in a living sea of colors. She narrows her eyes, face lit overhead by her saber casts a shadow over her form. She passes the tombs broken open and smooths her hands to each. The tiny knife on her belt is brought forth and with a quick flip she drags her hand to the blade before closing it and turning it back into the pouch. Her own blood wells up from she shallow cut and she smooths the bloodied skin across the tombs on her progression towards the larger tombs at center.
The saber is lofted higher as she steps up beside the one that is bloodied by that which is not kin. She peers inside as her hand smooths to the open edge, hoping to help soothe the broken tomb and its contents. "Grandmother?" She questions the air, as if half expecting the eccentric spirit to make her appearance once more.
There is a glance between Ban and Ben before the carefree Corellian makes a general statement. "Well I suppose it's a good thing the Sacred Growns don't give a Krif what we think am I right?" The tension was here, just not from where the tension should be coming from. He refocuses on what's ahead of them. As they arrive at the large crypts, brows raise in impressive wonder at the size of them. "Hey Jax..." Elrych starts in a whisper, "I think Vhe has more cousins than even you Greystorms..."
He sobers as he notices the life forms ahead and the disterbed graves. There is a blink at what she does to her Arm. He's about to say something but doesn't, instead he follows after her. As she nears her grandmothers grave, he looks for survivors that may need his help.
"I'm glad we agree on that," Ben replies to Ban over his shoulder as he continues ahead towards the bottom of the stairs, ignoring the historic relics on either side of the passageway. When he reaches the bottom and sees the scene of carnage laid out ahead, he pauses for a moment, his breath catching in his throat while he takes it in. "...the ecosystem at work." The kirruks are mentally counted. "Last time there were two or three," he murmurs under his breath, calculating, but at the moment the creatures show no animosity towards the Jedi so the spray must be having the intended effect and giving them a sort of herd immunity for the present.
"Come out, we're here to, uh. Save you." The hesitation in his speech and its lackluster tone is doubtless encouraging for the survivors.
Ban Iskender regards the native beasts with wary interest as they are found feeding on the fallen trespassers. A slow breath is drawn in through flared nostrils, the fresh blood mingling with the stale air of antiquity as his green eyes close for a moment. Relying on senses beyond sight and smell, he murmurs to whomever stands nearby, "At least ten still survive. In and among the broken sarcophagi." He doesn't bother stating the sense of fear. His eyes open, and the soldier starts toward the nearest of the sensed survivors.
The air smells of old death and newly spilled blood. Even with the assurance of the spray's pheromones protecting her, Liren glances askance at the Kirruk busily finishing their prey.
She slows to glimpse into a desecrated coffin, bones, and old clothing, stirred together into a jumble, catching Vhe opening her hand and smearing a lid with blood.
Fear lingers in the air, but its source seems diffuse to her. She doubts but still hopes that Ben's call will encourage the looters to save themselves. Nodding at Ban's pronouncement that ten have survived the carnage they brought on themselves, she raises her blade to light her way behind the others.
Once inside of the cavern tunnel, Rey starts to step into the darkness whislt the light from those behind her begins to seep in as they also descend further into the depths of the below.
She keeps her attention on alert as they go further, eventually coming to the tomb they'd originally set out for. The death in here is easily sensed... to put it mildly. As the others filter in, Rey spies the beasts that were feasting. She steps toward the nearest and as they make eye contact with one another - she does her best to ignore the blood on it's face - instead choosing on focusing upon the creature's mind...
She tries to compel the beast to flee, back whatever direction it had arrived here from!
"We need them to leave, so the survivors can get out safely..." Rey quietly speaks.
"Yeah and I doube any of hers aren't members of the First Order. Besides we're out numbered by living Iskenders at the moment. " Jax says to Elrych. He pauses to look around, "We will give a signal and when it is safe to come out. I would surrender and take this as a message its time to re-evaluate your life."
Nothing answers Vhe, except a soft, shrilled whisper from inside the sarcophagi in front of her. "Help. Me." A light inside reveals a living person laying ontop of the bones of a long past Grandmother! Scared out of their wits, the person's intense stare meets Vhe's gaze, pleading and praying.
Ban and Liren find others inside the sarcophagi they are close to. Pleading eyes stare up at them, praying the Jedi will not draw the beasts closer for another meal. They hear all of them: Ben, Jax, Rey..those who have spoken!
There's also an unease in the air here. A palpable tension that grows beyond the threat of mortal danger. In other places of the grand tomb, it was at peace... here, it's not.
Rey's encouragement of an animal leads to a second following it. Heavy clawed feet thump on the stone as they walk out, leaving two others to linger near the outskirts of the room, lumbering.
"If we get you out of here you will not return. This place is protected and you have wounded its peace," she says down towards the fearful figure. "They will not come near us. Now ...out." She reaches in and down her hand bleeding as it continues to drip slowly, spattering the interior of the tomb and then the robber as she means to haul the figure out. "Off my ancestor now," she says firmly and starts to yank the figure out and let them deal with their own footing.
"Come." she urges. The living Ysanna in the tomb looks displeased, her expression an unpleasant one as she looks to the others. "Disarm them if you can. No need to endanger ourselves further. Weapon on the ground before my feet."
She peers in even after and reaches down to possibly adjust and give honor to the woman long since dead within. She murmurs again in the strange tongue.
She goes still as her eyes seem to stare into the air. A soft sound made as her lips part and the force flows through her. For a moment she is unresponsive but then she blinks, takes a back step to stabilize herself and turns. "Give me your satchel now." Its an order as Vhe thrusts out her hand to the robber she just drug out of the tomb occupied by her grandmother.
Elrych turns his head to keep an eye on the beasts that remain. HE come across one or two of the trespassers. The Corellian holds a finger to his lips and crouches. "Come with me... and." He reaches out for any weapons, "This is mine now... who the hell told you about this place anyways? Ossus is not a place known by many." HE doesn't imbue his speech with the force to make them more convinced to giving up the truth. He's giving hem the benifit of the doubt for the time being. Either way, he starts to help them back the way they had come.
The mention of disarming the survivors seems to take Ben Solo a little by surprise, as he blinks in response to the recommendation, looking at the robber Vhe pulled out of the sarcophagus incredulously. Dark eyes look between the poor fool and the massive predators lingering on the border of the chamber, then one eyebrow raises in Vhe's direction. "If you misunderstood, this is your chance to get out of here on the outside of a digestive tract," he says to the room at large in a low, flat voice. "We're not here to kill you. I know, it's not what I'm used to hearing either."
Ban Iskender voices evenly to the first survivor he comes upon, "The beasts are departing. Offer your regrets to the ancient bones and prepare to remove yourself. Leave any weapons or relics behind," he advises, plainly.
The light from Liren's raised stun saber catches what the shadows had hidden. Vhe's furious whisper comes to her as she circles to the other side of the coffin, putting herself between the feasting Kirruk and another potential meal.
Finger to her lips, she leans over the man, hissing, "Put your weapon down, get out on the other side slowly and easily if you want to stay alive." Watching his every move, fighting the urge to look behind her, Liren adds, "Stay with me, I will try to get you out of here."
Jax slips off his cloak reveal half his face bandaged from the fight. "Put everything that's a weaopn, a communicator, or doesn't belong toyou on the ground. We're going to trade. YOu get yourself a cloak sprayed with deterrent. I get these people's culture back." Jax of course had sprayed himself and not just his cloak too. "Also, I will know if you're lying." ONce satified, he hands out the cloak. "There will be a short blonde woman at the edge of the cave. You are to return my cloak to her. Then tell her thank you." Hey he liked his cloak, he'd just gotten it.
The one with the satchel falls out of the sarcophagi, straightens, and wordlessly hands Vhe the satchel she's wearing. No loot was worth dying over. Inside, Vhe found the very thing she was looking for.
The others who are encouraged from their hiding spaces come out after disarming. They are very wary of the Kirruks, and the offworlders. To Elrych's question, the man shrugs. "We came upon the world, surveyed and landed. We did not know it was occupied by beasts... We just saw a quick score and thought it'd be worth the haul!"
Ben, Ban, Liren, Jax, Elrych, and Vhe all had weapons and trinkets returned. Weapons were placed on the ground and the trinkets on the sarcophagi they were taken from. Everyone was pretty quiet and in compliance. When the Kirruk left Rey, it took the last one with it as well. They lumbered into the darkness, roaring and shrieking every now and then, but growing further in distance.
Clutching tightly to the satchel, Vhe nods and motions for the robber to go. "Out. Do not come back." She remarks sharply. She turns back around and gazes down into the tomb. She reaches back in and removes a bronze cuff from the tomb. "Thank you, grandmother," she says stepping back to give herself room now that she knows the threat of the Kirruk are gone. Her hand reaches out and flexing her fingers wide the scraping of the stone on stone is loud, rumbling as the covering is shifted back into place by the Force.
She begins to sing, some native song as she does, her head tilting as she watches the top settle back into place with a final thunk. Her hand lowers back to her side and she turns about to survey the damage but slowly begins for the exit as she stows the saber at her belt and pulls on the cuff around her wrist.
From the bag she draws a Ysanna mask and holds it up, a Pontite crystal buried in its carved face flashes before she stows it for safe keeping back in the bag. "The Ysanna outside can be tasked to make sure this place is put to rest or I will come back when we do not have guests."
Elrych raises a brow at the responce given to him about them stumbling upon the planet. "Best to stick to the Ash Worlds, then." He pauses a moment before reaching out with the force to plant a thought within their brain, if not perminant, at least long enough until they entered hyperspace. "Once you enter Hyperspace, you will delete any record and cooridnates of this system from your central ship and Navi-computer." The others can feel him reaching out. He looks to Vhe as he sense something else and a small smile comes to his lips. Then, standing, he helps up the robber and moves to escourt them back to he top.
"I don't think they need to be told not to come back," Ben remarks quietly, glancing around at the disembodied limbs and limbless bodies. He lets the others reclaim the important historic items of Vhe's clan, stepping back away and watching, rubbing thoughtfully at his ribs.
Ban Iskender deactivates his green bladed sword once its light is no longer needed, and maintains a solemn silence (though Elrych does get a brief sidelong look at the recommendation that scavengers stick to looting the Ash Worlds).
The tomb raider wafts the odor of sarcophagus he was laying in. Holding out her free hand with a meaningful look, Liren takes the bag that the man sought to hide from her. Behind them, Rey uses the Force to convince the Kirruk to leave the tomb.
The grating sound of stone on stone sets Liren's teeth on edge. Following Vhe's example, she marshals the Force and inches the stone back into place. Hand over heart, she wishes the coffin dweller peace before gesturing to the door out.
"Go on ahead. Follow the others out."
Jax remains quiet and let bows his head letting Vhe sing to celebrate her people and honor them. WHen she's done. He raises his head and quietly moves to leave the chamber with the others in silence. He's trying to be respectful.
When the group makes it back to the top, they may hear Aryn's mid-conversation with the two masked guardians. "You do /WHAT/ to pass time?! Oh, Mother save me." She asks incredulously, even laughing nervously at an earlier, unheard statement. Aryn's cheeks are slightly red, and she scratches the back of her head. "I... I think I have heard all that I need to. You have my thanks." Aryn is holding Jax's cloak, and offers it back to him upon his arrival. With things returning to a somewhat normal, and the reverence restored, the Jedi are bid farewell by the two Ysanna, who ride away upon their Kirruks.
