Classroom Ax-room IV
OOC Date: August 20, 2018
Location: Arisnar
Participants: Jedi: Ax, Zandra naMurial, Yuun, Elrych Cometburn
~ This was not the typical classroom scenario, in fact, it wasn't even set in the classroom, instead in Amaranthine City here on Arisnar. Everyone who'd attend was told to leave their robes behind and dress in typical civilian attire. The goal was to blend in, not stand out.
Ax was standing outside the Ship Services facility, dressed in simple white linen pants and shirt, waiting for the others to arrive. ~
Elrych Cometburn had just gotten in from a long mission with the Resistance and had only just startedrunning Cargo again. He scratches the back of his head, yawning abit, as he moves towards the SHip Services building. He's dressed in a simple pair od breeches with 2nd class blood stripes, a simple white tunic, and of course his flight jacket.
Having dressed in his street clothes that he wore when he first came here, having gotten used to finding clothes similar to what he used to wear. He yawns and stretches after landing his ship in the city. Getting up and walking off his ship and hoping down, he smiles and stretches out a bit, he begins looking for the others.
Zan is wearing verdant green, in jumpsuit fashion, over a black t. She matches well, and the outfit looks good on her, but she might not be dressed like the locals are. She does however look like maybe she's just a tourist. She wanders down along towards the meeting point easily, looking around as she does, since she's not been in town much before today.
~ "Glad you could make it," Ax says as everyone assembles. "Last couple of lessons were the basics, hiding your force signature from someone with their senses open. That was a classroom, a controlled environment," Ax says. "Now comes the chaos factor that exists everywhere else. The object is to blend in, or at least not stand out." Zan's arrival though was a pleasant surprise, and Ax gives her a nod and a smile.
"Alright, welcome to Amaranthine City. The locals here have allowed us to build our academy on their planet and given us access to their city. I assure you, that is a priviledge. I want you all on your best behavior. I want you to focus on hiding your force signature the entire time we're here. It's going to be difficult, I know, but do your best. The goal is the experience," Ax says. ~
Elrych Cometburn nods to Ax, turning to notice Zan enter. He lowers his sunglasses a bit, showing off his blue eyes which watch her as she arrives. "Hey there..." Says the Corellian before looking back to Ax after giving Yuun a nod.. "Been meaning to check out the city. Maybe find something nice in the market. I hear it's always busy." He takes a deep breath and focuses a moment on his force signature, contracting and restricting it like he had been practicing. "Alright, ready togo."
Yun nods his head to Ax as he listens to what is being asked of them. "Well that is a most important rule." he says. "I like it here so far and honestly I'm thankful for them allowing us to have a temple here." he says. Rubbing the back o this head, and he begins trying to focus on the force and trying to mask himself within the force thinking he is hidden. He looks at the others, "I'm ready." he smiles.
Zan smiles and nods to her fellow students and instructor, listening to Ax as he speaks. She takes a moment to center herself, concentrating in her own fashion, and manages to start off successfully, hiding her force signature as she has learned to do. "Ax, Elrych, Yuun," she greets everyone the same, no favourites. "I haven't been here much, just so I wouldn't accidentally break any rules or get into trouble. I mean, not like I do - but sometimes there are odd rules that I'd never think of," she says. "Do you want us to do something particular while we're here or is it a shopping trip, as Elrych suggests?" Yuun gets a smile, but no comment from Zan. Wet Bantha steers further inside the area, and then maneuvers toward a berthing spot. Only its repulsors remain online, keeping the craft steady, just above the ground.
~ "We're going to have a standard day, as you'd have out and about at any other city. We're going to walk around the market, grab some food, walk around the entertainment district, then finish off with drinks at one of the local taverns," Ax says.
"So, follow me, and we'll get started on this. You got these crazy abilities that most people could never dream of being able to do, and that's awesome. Just, for today, and in general when in public, keep them to yourselves. No visible uses of any abilities and no sticky fingers in the markets. Dinner and drinks are on me," Ax adds and begins walking away from the spaceport into town. ~
Elrych Cometburn nods, "No sticky fingers, got it." He gives a grin to Zan before starting to follow Ax. He looks around at the different sights and scenes from behind those thick and dark glasses of his, seemingly enjoying the stroll.
Yuun smirks and waves to Zan and the others, "Alright, so see how well you can keep hidden and yes Elrych no stealing you clepto." he laughs as he follows along with the others.
Zan nods her head to Ax. She might have to think a few minutes before she gets the sticky fingers thing. "No worries there - My fingers don't do that sticky thing well at all," she says with a laugh. "My family always disapproved of such, though I suspect that if it came to life or death, they might feel differently." She shrugs a bit, and then brightens. "Free food and drinks? Who could turn that down?"
~ "Focus Yuun," Ax says. "This is still training, but in the real world, there are threats. There's bounties on every one of us or anyone else with our abilities. You've got to make this almost second nature," he says as he walks towards the market plaza of Amaranthine City.
The closer they get to the market, the denser the crowds are, making it more difficult to keep focus. "Feel free to purchase anything you desire, support the local economy, but make sure it's something you don't mind lugging around for a couple of hours." As he speaks, he spots a vendor selling hand-made jewelry, which he stops at. He steps up, perusing the wares for a moment, he picks out a small silver necklace with a blue gem pendant on it. There's a brief exchange and the lady takes his credits in exchange for the necklace. "For my daughter when she's old enough," says the proud papa. "Guess I need to get something for my son now."
Ax then walks back to the others. "I don't expect you to be perfect at this, even I have trouble in these environments, but keep trying. Feel free to walk around, I'm just here to observe and give pointers if I can." ~
Elrych Cometburn is just having a grand old time as they stroll through the Market. He liked places like this, the bardering, the haggling, the smells of exotic foods and look of new and strange fashions and colors. The distractions seem to not bother his focus on masking his Force signature. Infact it's gotten a lot smaller since the entered the market. Something spots his interest and he turns to study it. A smirk comes across his lips and he forks over some Arisnar Cash he had sitting around for it. Then moving to find Zan, he offers the box it's in to her. "Got you something." It's some sort of jewled Barrette for her hair. Nothing huge, but it's a nice jesture.
Yuun has to refocus, hearing Ax tell him that this is important, he knew it was he just failed to mask himself that well. Still he takes a deep breath and allows himself to focus fully and as he does he begins drawing in on himself with the force hoping to mask his presence within the force. He nods his head and looks around, "I haven't really gotten to look around here, so I will try to find something." he smiles and walks off.
Zan was totally having a great time, she was. But then there was that jewellery store, and her eyes went wide, just before Elrych presented her with a surprise gift. And between one thing and the other, her force masking rather fell apart. "Grelm it," she gripes, as she can feel that control go sideways. The scowl is not meant for Elrych, which hopefully he knows. "Sorry. I just - " Pause. "Elrych, thank you. This is very sweet of you. There's no need to get me anything," she says, taking the box to see what the gift is. She's still grumbly over losing her force mask, but she's still polite about the other topic. A glance to the others, and she closes her eyes briefly, before she nods her head once. "I appreciate the thought."
~ Ax watched the others as they moved through the crowds, the Echani keeping tabs on the three. He was going to let them have their time, they should be able to sense whether or not they were able to keep their focus or not.
When it looks like the trio of young jedi were done with shopping, and when Ax's stomach started rumbling, he motions for them to join him once again. "Alright, knuckleheads. It's time for food. If you haven't found it by now, you're not going to find it today, but come back here another day and maybe you'll luck out." And with that, he's heading towards a place to get some local cuisine. ~
Elrych Cometburn smiles to Zan, "Yeah... I know. Sorry. Distracted you. Sure I do. Got something for Rey too." He looks over to Ax and nods, turning and heading along to follow him. "Man... I am getting pretty hungrey."
Yuun finds a shop nearby, he buys a staff, it's made of a natural wood thats been treated. He spins it and grins and pays for the staff, "Nice!" he says as he turns and looks for where the others are.
Zan smiles at Elrych, relaxing a bit. "Alright," she says. "Thankyou." She tries again to take a moment to center herself, to try to get her force signature masked again, and then she quietly follows after the group, a thoughtful look on her face, the box with the hair barrette in hand. "Food does sound good," she agrees eventually, once she catches up again.
~ Ax leads the others through the streets to the tavern. The market was crowded, this place was packed. Fortunately, there was an empty booth in the back, near the gambling areas. "Take a seat, order what you want, the food here is excellent. I've got the bill this time," he says as he moves to the booth, having to weave around other tables as well as the crowd of people present. Definitely more difficult to keep concentration up in a place like this.
"This is more than about hiding your abilities, it's about blending into a crowd. The best place for you to hide is amongst others. Each of us was something before coming here, fall back upon that when out in public," Ax says keeping his voice soft enough to not carry beyond the three of them. ~
Elrych Cometburn still is what he was and so all he has to do is sit against the corner in the booth and lounge there, spreading out just a bit but mkaing sure to give the others room as well. He takes a menu and starts to look through it, "Nerf Steak with some Tubbers... man. I could really go for that." Leave it to Elrych to order the most expensive thing on the menu when someone else is paying.
Yuun sits down at the table as well and he grins at what Elrych suggests, "You know what, I would like the same thing, my steak Medium Rare, and a fizzy drink." he says as he looks at Ax. He grins and looks towards Zan and gestures for her to join them as well.
Zan grins at the comment from Ax, and shrugs. "cargo carrying pilot that's me," she says wryly. "Though I guess ship captain now too, huh?" There's a brief moment of thought and a pleased smile shows. She settles in at the booth easily, not sprawling out, but not worried about it either. "The daily special," she says. "it says it's suitable for humans and near humans, and it's a taste of the local quisine. I'm sold on that one."
~ Ax orders the chef's special, not caring what it is, along with a bottle of wine for the table. "Alright," he says, looking at the three. Enjoy your meal, but keep your focus throughout. Sounds easier than it is, I assure you, especially when the food is savory," he adds with a grin.
Ax leans back in his seat, looking about the room. "We're the outsiders here on Arisnar, and that's going to happen almost everywhere you go. Keep your eyes open, your head down, and your defenses up when you're surrounded by people you don't know." ~
Elrych Cometburn really really got a little overly cocky there and his mask slips entirely. He dosn't notice untill he's halfway through his steak. "Awww Drek..." He sighs and does his best to concentrate again to get the mask back. Right now though, it's a little difficult. "Did you get a ship of your own, Zandra?" He asks, curious.
Still trying to focus, but he does look around the restaurant enjoying the atmosphere of this place. He leans back in his seat as he looks to Ax as he speaks, giving a slow nod of his head. Stretching a little bit, "I think I will need to explore more of this place, I don't remember coming here much or if any." he says knowing he spends more time on Nar.
The break in conversation where Zan pulled back her concentration and got her force signature masked once more holds, even as they come in through all the savory scents of various meals throughout the tavern. She grins at Ax, nodding. "This is actually kind of what I am used to, from the family," she says. "It kind of seems weird that they had - have some of the same ideas." She chuckles softly, and then Elrych's question brings a bit of happiness to her face. "I did - well, really I had the ship before I ever got here. One is the one I flew here on, the Pure Sabacc. It's I think good for any business that I might help out with, even. Though I don't think it's overly armed, but it is fast."
~ Ax hadn't expected them to succeed with all the distractions, though they'd all three done better than he expected. The Echani doesn't say much, just eats his meal and sips at his wine.
After a moment, he looks up to the others and leans back in his seat. "This has just been practice. Fortunately, I doubt anyone around us is hunting our kind, so it's a safe place to practice your masking ability." ~
Elrych Cometburn nods to Ax, "I'll have to come into town more often then to get some practice in..." And some steak likely. He then looks to Zan, "Well. Spike's only got one gun on her. I don't use her for engagements though. She's really just for Cargo."
Eating his food as it comes to the table, he thanks their waiter, he grins and gives a silent prayer over his food. Now it's time to dig in, he grins and begins eating, "Thanks Ax." he says and before he really eats. "I really mean that, thank you for everything you've been doing for us." he says offering a nod of his head to him.
Zan inclines her head, thoughtfully. "It is a very serious thing we are learning," she says quietly, softly. "It might one day save our lives or those of others, I recognize that. It is actually the first thing I have been working on and I hopefully can put more effort into it, as well. I do not wish to be a liability, at the very least." She eats her own meal, enjoying the taste of the local cuisine. at least it's a change and that seems to please her. "I am glad I caught up with you all for this practice session."
~ Ax nods to the others. "It's all good, and if you have questions, please feel free to ask." As a waitress comes by the table, Ax hands over more than enough credits for the meal and a generous tip. "I'm glad you could join us as well, Zan." The Echani stands. "I've set up a bar tab for the three of you. I, sadly won't be able to stick around for it. My wife recently gave birth to twins, so I am going to go visit with her." There's a brief pause, and he smiles. "I am having a party at my winery on Naboo in a couple of days, please feel free to attend. Like this though, civilian attire, and while there aren't troops on the ground anywhere near the winery, do understand that there is an Order presence in the system should you choose to attend." ~
