The forge in the Jedi temple's storage area has a fire burning on it steadilly. Inside, the metal has already been melted to the dezired point. The red-haired man that uses the forge nods, before he manipulates the dials to set the forge's temperature, estinguishing the fire. Wearingg heat resistent gloves, hee removes the metal and, using tools that were set aside previously, starts to mold it in the formate of a 15 cm long cilinder, trying to make sure that the metal has no imperfections or ridges. Hiss atention isn't on whatever is happening around him, all his mind being dominated by the feel of the maleable metal against his work tools.
Pulled along by the threads that ever direct the zelosian orchardist, Qutha's path finds him wandering into the work rooms with a collection of small, beakless, reptovaians gathered about his ankles or riding on the hem of his cloak where it drags on the floor. Hands tucked into his sleeves and hood down he pauses when he catches sight of Saito at the forge.
Hot metal and tools out, he approaches with a quirked brow, offering out "Y'know... Imp'fections doan' ruin' it... No one's perfect... n'the saber aught reflect the maker..." one corner of his mouth turning up - "Though it'll do so, whether y'want it to r'not."
The BD droid that often travels with the mystic poking his head out of the lowered hood, giving a twiddling sound like someone grumbling about having been sleeping.
Slowly, the padawan's head raisess from his work with the metal. The Zelosian's words earn a smile from the red-haired pilot. "You always makes mee look at things differently, master, thank you.. I still remember our chat when I had just arrived to the temple." and with that, Saito allows his work with molding the crystal to have a few imperfections, part of his focus going to the Zelosian. "Something interesting happened while I was on my way backfrom the station, master.. The crystal.." he points to te green crystal that was gently put in a nearby work table. "Well, it.. Started to send me visions.. About a very umpleasant thing that happened in my past.. I... Would you believe if I said that the crystall tried to teach me something?"
"Please don' call me master. I's jus' Qutha." looking to the crystal that his attention has been shifted to, he finally comes to stand still; which only results in the fuzzy little birds that follow him now setting to climbing his cloak, pant legs or finding places on his feet or clothing hem to curl up. Bawking to one another quietly, or hunting for nibbles in the zelosians pockets.
"N'whut sort' vision was you bein' shown? The crystals theyselves is... resonant wit the Force, but theys ain't 'zactly sentient... N'we mus' allus be mindful of less benign influence." head tipping to one side when one of the porgs is on his shoulder, tugging at the lobe of his ear.
It would seem that once again Zev has been trying his best to get his hands on a lightsaber to study. He's settled for working on taking apart his stunsaber and putting it back together. He has just finished doing that before he heads out of the small little room he had been working in. Spotting Qutha and Saito nearby, he diverted his way over there, peeking around the corner, "I hope you don't mind, I overheard you talking." Visions, he has been working on how best to try to focus on one. Working on his saber is a type of meditation to him. Same for working on the Frostfire's engine.
"Sorry, Qutha," Saito replies with a shake of his head. He watches the porgss climbing the Zelosian for a moment, before his atention returns to his work. He stops working with the metal, letting it cool, placing his tools aside for the time being. "Well, it was.. I guess I should explain.. When I was a child, me and my parents lived in Tatooine.. One day raiders invaded our moisture farm.. I lost my parents that day, Qutha.. And I would have died if the Jedi didn't find me in the desert.. When I left, I swore to myself that I'd never return to that planet.. After I got the crystal, I wass planing o returning o the temple to try and finally builD MY LIGHTSABER.. However, I started to have dreams about my family and about our home.. I meditated about these visions and it seemed to me that the crstal was.. Sendin me back to Tatooinin." he offers a cilent nod t Zev, smilling politely to the other Padawan, before he nods to the cilinder of metal that will house the components of his lightsaber. He approaches the work desk that he had been using to put his materials on and retrieves a power cell, atention still focsued on the two Jedi.
"S'prised y'ain' come t'realize in yer learnin' that y'ain't no such things never." looking to the work at hand and then back to the crystal, both brows lofted now but his expression remaining otherwise calm. "I find it uns'prizin' that ifn' yer was lookin' ne'er to come back to that world - that'd be a spot Th'Force'd chuck y'right back to, first chance it got."
Looking then to Zev and offering a bow of his head, "Feel free t'wander on in, hoss. We'se jaw'n a bit, visions n'aught... while Saito done works on his saber. Mayhap y'might git a chance, look at somma' the work bein' done... Git some idears of y'own." a glance between the two, then the crystal and back to the lepi,
"Had any idears f'yer grip yet, Zev?"
"I was thinking...There's that lightsaber that Master Kenobi won in the duel with that Sith...I would like to see if I could possibly purify it." Zev says, as he thinks back to that fight, "It was fully constructed, and I would just need to make sure it was cleared of the dark side, and then put my own touches on it."
"I'da defn'itely talk t'Miss Noki, 'bout that. Reckon she aught be able to help with that." Noted to Zev, nodding slightly, "Least ifn' she still has it... though I don't reckon she'd jus' toss 'er away."
"N'I reckon he jus' meant the hilt, not the crystal." the last part for Saito, "Emotions is gonna be in all things. Ol' ways, theys said we had'a be absent of em. Only calm. But y'bottle things up like that, t'ain' ever gonna work out well. Y'gotta acknowledge yer has 'em, Saito. Learn how theys affect you, how theys gonna always affect whatcher doin'." one of Qutha's hands raise to scratch at the neck of the porg sitting on his shoulder, eyes back on Saito's work,
"Much'a the work, really, tis done when yer got all the parts done. Mos'a puttin' 'er together is with the force... not tools. Pieces that cain't be assembled, unless they's bein' held in the force and locked int' position." one hand lifting and his own saber raising out of his sleeve to float into his palm.
The wooden haft with its carvings showing without glossy reflection. "That's part'a the secret, whys non-sensitives cain't make em."
"Oh no no, I already got a crystal." Zev replies, as he reaches into one of the pockets of his robes, and pulls out a deep blue one, "Been carrying it around with me since I found it, meditating with it. Trying to make sure I connect with it." The leip holds it between two fingers and looks deeply at it, "And Qutha is right, the hilt itself was what I was after. I don't think I'm ready to try to purify a crystal of the dark side fully yet. Still learning."
Saito nods to the Zelosian. "You are right, Qutha. I mean I guess I had always tried to suppress what happened.. Tried to let it now affect me.. This experience, it showed me that part of being a Jedi is accepting things as they come, both good and bad." he retrieves another tool and makes a few ajustments to the lightsaber's grip, creating a few places where his fingerss can find traction along the grip, eyes on the other two Jedi. "This part is only the initial process.. I hope I won't mess anything when I try to connect all the parts with the force." he offers a smile to Zev. "Oh, it was only the hilt.. Well, I wish you luck, Zev.. Building this lightber has been.. An eye-opening experience, for me.."
"Ifn' y'miss anythin', then you jus' git a li'l time... look inta whatcha mighta' done. Reflect. Study... Then learn." nodding to himself, "The preparin', the makin', it's all important." his own saber looked at by the zelosian before he tilts his hand and lets it fall down his sleeve and out of sight again.
"Pers'nlly... what'a mine, 'ain' wood, recycled parts n'all. Don't think I done any machinin'... I jus' found what I needed. Let the parts call out f'me... went where I felt them t'be found." one shoulder lifting and Qutha's other had adjusts the sleeve his saber was dropped into.
"No wrong way of it... well... there's the light and dark ways'a doin' it."
"Never really know what the Force is trying to tell you until it happens." Zev says, "I mean based on what I've seen...Obviously lots of the Knights have way more first hand experience with that than I would."
He hmms faintly to himself before he tucks his crystal away. Getting hold of that previous hilt could be a good basepoint, he seems really focused on that.
Saito nods in agreement with the Zelosian. "I think thats exactly what makes the construction off a lightsaber such a personal thing, Qutha.. There is no right way to find the parts.. Each weapon is personalised andd the way that its made represents aspects of the personality of its builder," the red-haired man muses, before he nods to Zev. "You'll alsso need to meditate a lot, Zev.. I wish you luck.. Let me know if I can help, please.. I'd be happy to." Saito turns back to his work. Retrieving the green crystal from the table, he carefully inserts it in another part of the lightsaber, being extra careful, not wanting the weapon to explode when he turns it on. Next he glances too the several lens that willl make the Lightsaber focus energy. Slowly he starts too work with them, carefully inserting each one into the weapon.
"I know some, who meditated less and operated on instinct more... As I said, no right or wrong. Ifn' y'feel the need t'look f'insight... Do. Some of us meditate more of'en, some folk think som'a us do it too much." a small chuckle escaping him and Qutha's head is tugged by a porg grabbing a hank of his hair in its mouth and pulling hard at him.
"Listen t'yer instincts, ask if y'need he'p. But let Th'Force shows y'whatcha should do. That's goin' be the best instruction had." bowing his head slightly, "We well, Saito. I wish you well in y'craftin' an' that it all comes out well." turning then, with his avian entourage suddenly active and 'bawk!'ing excitedly when the man starts to move.
Zev hmms a little bit, and then hops up on his feet a bit, "I'm going to go look for Master Kenobi and see what she thinks." He says, as he smiles to the other two, "I'll let you know if we can go forward with the idea." Zev says, as he heads for the door to go look for Noki.
"Thank you for the company and for the chat," Saito raises a hand to wave to the knight and to the Padawan, chuckling as he sees the porgs around the Zelosian getting excited. When the door closes, he turns back to his work. The matherial part of the work is almost done. He retrieves a nearby beam emitter and slowly starts to insert it, making sure that the lens were set properly. It will take some time but with any luck, the Lightsaber should be ready soon.
