Dust And Blood: Double Down
OOC Date: March 6, 2020
Location: Tatooine Trader's Bazaar
Participants: Vena, Hadrix Kora, Evie Leven, Aryn Cole, Sajin, Terek Rosol, Kryll
Tatooine's Trader's Bazaar in Mos Eisley seems to be packed this evening. Which is not out of the ordinary. It's the end of the week and people have credits from work burning a hole in their pockets.
And somehow this group was here for some reason all of these people are around. There's a tall Chiss with a scarred neck that's picking through the tents of the traders market. Just going along for the day.
But it's Tatooine and this place never stays quiet for long.
The Ubese were a fearsome band, rarely seen, rarely interactive but renown for their skills in hunting. Aryn Cole is no Ubese, but she is dressed like one from head to toe. The ornate leather wrappings and protective plating afford a thick enough armor capable of warding most blast bolts and could entertain stopping a slug round.. maybe. The helmet is sealed, with a pronounced visor that's horizontal and dark, save for a thin white line that blinks, indicative of her HUD.
Aryn is standing beneath a massive strung up canvas fly listening to a street band while watching the locals curiously. She leans on what's seemingly a large obsidian staff. Occasional gusts of evening sandy winds catch her light brown shoulder cape, brushing it from one side of her back to the other.
While there is a decent amount going on, Kryll himself is here going through the vendors. His BB droid rolling along beside him, both likely not enjoying all the sand. Kryll has his helmet on this time, keeping any sand from landing in his face, as he speaks to the droid. <"It does take a little while getting to other worlds, but, perhaps we can find what we are looking for here."> his rifle is slung over his back, and pistols are on his hips, his hands nowhere near them as he walks normally, rather comfortable here even though tatooine is not likely comfortable for many.
Sajin is just walking through the Bazzar, minding his own buisness. He was stuck here for a few days having his freighter worked on by one of the worldly engineers of the galaxy that took up reaidence on Tattooine. He ruba his stomach having just finished a Kabob of some sort, the sauce from which paints his cheek messily and he burps loudly in the aftermath
She hovers at the massive mandalorian's side, claw arms hanging like the tendrils of a robotic jellyfish - as ever questioning the man's decisions as they make their way through the bazar.
They're generally polite enough to move around those who don't see a T-Visor, jetpack and cape before backing away paling. Those who try to square up are firmly moved aside,
Having managed to get himself a bit better outfitted, Terek has decided to splurge a little bit. He's wandering around the Bazaar, stopping at various vendor stalls to sample their wares, buying some fresh fruit from off world, since it's rare to find it in such high quality on this dustball of a planet.
For the most part he's minding his own business. He just got paid, time to find a use for all those credits.
Tatooine. No place finer to be, really, if you want wide open desert and oppressive heat. While the heat isn't exactly the greatest thing ... the open deserts really were the best place to get in some practice with a jetpack without having to worry about crashing /too/ hard. Which is the main reason she was here.
...and the main reason that the normally pristine blue armor was shrouded in sand.
Not that /Evennia Leven/ would ever /crash./ Those two words just aren't said in the same sentence! However, after a day of training, there's nothing like a drink to reinvigorate the spirit and prepare oneself for round two, and that's why she's found her way in the Bazaar... she's on her way towards the Cantina, with credits ready and willing to quench a mighty thirst.
A pair of speederbikes zip down a nearby street, their engines squealing.
"UTINI!" *clank!*
The sound of metal being hit with something startles some folks that are standing near the entrance to one of the older buildings. There's the sound of a few speeders starting roughly and then a small group of Jawa's going flying by on them.
Did...did those Jawa's just steal those speeder bikes?
Maaaaaaaaaybe?
That question is answered when someone starts shouting to a group inside the building about the speeders. Oops.
The sudden flashing blurs of Jawas (Aryn doesn't know what a Jawa is) on speeders draws the young Doctor's attention and she steps out from beneath the canvas to stare along the dusty trails they left in their wake. Aryn doesn't say anything that might aid those around her. It's simply curiosity at this stage. She brings her heavy staff closer, re-gripping her hand over it by squeezing her fingers tighter. This could be bad!
Kryll watches as some speeder bikes go roaring past him, mounted by very tiny drivers. <"Well, that is interesting. Perhaps speeders only come in a normal size and shorter species cannot get tiny speeders to ride?"> he looks to his droid, <"It is like not having a spot designed for you."> the droid pauses to watch the speeders go by, beeping back at kryll as they converse.
Sajin is used tonodd things and criminal activity spending a lot of time here and on Nar Shaddaa. He also inew it was best provlbably not to get involved. Reguardlesa he stopped and jept an eye on the situation, hand hovering over hia blaater.
It'd be a lot to explain to Lo. <<"Oh Jabba! No bata tu tu, muni, muni!">> Best to just go with it, and so Hadrix does. Mando got moves. He's stopped weaving and is quite literally dancing through the crowd - expertly. Dances with Droids even as he drags Gripper into it.
And then Jawas. It's always Jawas. This kriffing planet! He spins to the side as the speeders kick off past him, one hand going for the E-11 at his side on instinct,
The sound of a speeder bike is unmistakable. The sound of a jawa screaming as it tears ass across the market on a speeder bike, however, is not something that Terek can say he's ever heard before. He turns around to watch it fly past him, head tilting a little bit as he does his best to process what he just saw.
"Huh. That is not something you see every day, even around here." He had to take a few moments to make sure the heat from the planet wasn't getting to him.
Aryn isn't the only one who doesn't know what Jawas are, so when the Mandalorian flying ace sees diminuative people flying by on speeder bikes, Evie can't help but smile under her helmet. Fortunately, she wasn't in the direct path of the group flying by, so dodging out of their way wasn't necessary... but it reminds her of herself when she was young, just kids racing through the streets at breakneck speeds on sweet looking vehicles. Yup. Clearly, this group of /children/ is perfectly innocent, just like she totally was, because Evie is an Excellent Judge of Character.
Vena's bowled over by one Jawa leading the pack. The Chiss goes tumbling over into a pile of dusty looking clothes and she has to drag her old ass out of the baskets, "No respect!" she spits out.
Then the yelling stops as there are a few bolts of blaster fire that ring out from the building that people were coming in and out of. And into the street spills a group that are looking a bit ragged.
The one in front stops abruptly, "Kriff! Our bikes!"
You've received a +nom from Sajin. +nom/pending to review.
Aryn isn't one to just spring into action. She takes into account what she is looking at first, then slides into the building they just came from to look inside to see what it was they were leaving. There's always more to the story, and surely this one had another side to it! Besides, she's not a fighter, she's a doctor, dammit!
Kryll looks about as the speeders go by, and spots some familliar faces in the crowd, <"Well, even this place is popular with people I know it seems."> he considers for a few moments, <"Well, there does not appear to be a bounty on any of the tiny speedsters, so as of this moment this is not our fight. However, now that I am finally not ill anymore, it would be nice to have some proper operations."> he looks to the droid. <"Were they armed? I feel it would be unfair to attack such tiny people, especially if unarmed.">
Sajin studies the group coming out and upset about the speeders. He might have to squint behind his armor's helmet to really make it out, but they seem familiar. "Are those the damn noisy kids from that diner?" He asks himself, stepping closer to the conflicted area. "Hey... hey! The heck is going on here. Are you people trying to cause a scene?"
Turning back to the sentients bursting from the bar, looking the directions the speeders went. People. Bikes. People... Work is credit.
Hadrix's externals dial up and he calls out to the others, <"Five hundred a speeder, and I'll retrieve them."> Work is work. Credits are credits.
"Oh boy, weapons fire." Terek moves his hand down to his side, but holds off on drawing anything just yet until he figures out who's shooting at who. Once he sees the shots were in the direction of the jawas, that at least answers the who and the why.
He keeps his hand at his side, for the moment, and waits until the exact situation is made clear. He's still ready to move just in case.
Walking up to the group that's exiting the... establishment, Evie's about to speak when Hadrix beats her to it. << "You'll never catch them on foot." >> she comments, nodding her helmet towards the remaining speeder. << "Think you can handle that beast, or do you need a bit of backup?" >> is inquired. While the jury might still be out on the tiny people vs. the larger ones... Hadrix's side is right enough for Evie's sake.
When someone mentions the diner there's an abrupt look up from the lead of the group. The dark haired man was most definitely from the incident at the diner...and he doesn't look too good with seeing Sajin...and then past him he spots a Mando. Ah crap...
That's not half the trouble though. Those bags? One of them gets ripped and credit chits go scattering across the ground, causing people to scatter for them. "THIEVES!" someone bellows from inside.
Uh oh...it just got worse.
When it becomes clear that the robbers got robbed, the Jawas (or whatever they were because Aryn didn't know) were actually the heroes in this tale. Aryn emerged back out into the evening, her target being one of the theives! A solid THWACK upside the head follows, then a WHOOSH as her subsequent swing misses. Despite this, the Ubese dressed Aryn is kind of showy with her spear! <"THEY'RE THEIVES!"> Announced Aryn, her voice distorted into an androgynous broken basic that's just loud enougn and understandable enough to be heard.
Kryll hears a familliar voice call out, <"Thieves? Who are thieves? Is this place like Nar and most people are thieves?"> he looks about for the source of the declaration, and then he spots Aryn smiting people with a long stick. <"That lady, she seems to be everywhere. I do not think we need to get involved, the doctor seems to have this in hand.">
Sajin stretches out his finger and smacks one of the revieled theives with he back of his gauntleted hand. THWACK... it's a loud sound. He doesn't go any further though. HE stares them down from behind his helmet. "Did you not LISTEN to me at the Diner, Boy! What kind of life do you want, herm?" He had stolen, had been a pirate, had been homeless. He saw the other side of all that too. "Get a damn job, work your way up. Life will reward you." IS Sajin... lecturing them. "Now return this money at ONCE!" Good lord...
The offer still stands until there is better chance of him getting work from the man being robbed as his left arm come up, blaster barrel extending from the side of his gauntlet, aimed at the man who just got thwocked by the woman with the stick. His right hand goes for his flame rifle, unclipping it to have at the ready.
When the wrist blaster goes off the shot is well over heads, kicking the shavit out of that wall. But he totally meant to do that.
Hadrix totally meant to put a blaster bolt over people's heads.
Sheesh. No wonder everybody is flipping out. Theives are considered low even by the standards of this planet.
Terek moves towards where everything is going down, sliding his blaster out of his hoslter, but not raising it or anything yet, "Boy did you guys screw up. You'd better listen to these very angry, heavily armed individuals, I think."
There's temptation to follow Hadrix's lead again, going right for her own wrist laser... but there's other things to concern herself with at the moment. Other possibilities, thoughts running through her heads as far as what could happen. The stranger in the Ubese armor isn't given immediate benefit of the doubt because... she doesn't know she knows said 'stranger'. Again, though, the side Hadrix is on? Good enough for her.
Evie aims at the group that Hadrix definitely didn't miss. Except she's not aiming for a knee; she aims slightly higher. << "Your call, boys. You can surrender now, or I can make the rest of your lives /very/ uncomfortable." >>
Aryn twists and smacks another thief, then a second, becoming responsible for putting two on the ground yet not killing them. She flips the spear over with a show of skillful dexterity and angles the sharpened obsidian blade where they can see it. The broken androgynous voice emitted from her helmet warns aloud, <"Do not move or you will come to further harm. I've no reason to kill you, but these Bounty Hunters might.">
Aryn does not move her eyes from them.
Kryll walks over near Aryn, while his droid continues to roll alongside him. <"She is correct, while my fellow hunter's wrist laser seems to be malfunctioning. I can assure you he will not miss if he decides to crush you."> he pauses, patting his own weapons. <"Nor will I."> he points at Sajin, <"Him as well, unless he is related to you, because he seems to be giving you parental lessons, which is confusing.">
Sajin puts his hands to his hips once more and just stares down the group, "Exactly..." In reguards to them getting hit again, the other tripping over as he tries to run. "Luck is very clearly not on your side, boys..." He looks o Kryll then, then to Hadrix and Evie, "Where'd you all come from..." There is a pause, "Now I'm confused..." Poor Sajin.
Things seem to be well enough in hand for the others around here, as Terek leans back against some crates nearby, arms crossed over his chest, but blaster still in his hand, "Seems to me you're outnumbered and outgunned. I'm thinking your lives are worth enough to you that you'll make the right decision. Right? Choose to live, gentlemen."
Inside Evie's head, there's a moment of conflict. The Ubese (Aryn) is making them sound /really intimidating here,/ because bounty hunters -- especially combined with the Mandolorian armor -- are pretty frightening in their own right. On the other hand? She's /not/ one, and it seems... /dishonest/... not to come clean about that. << "Oh, no, mist-- mis--... pal, I'm no bounty hunter." >> Evie clarifies, reaching her free hand up to the helmet.
"I'm the Empress of the rekking Void, and /Emperor Palpatine/ and the entire /Final Order/ couldn't stop me. If you've got one brain between the bunch of you, you'll surrender." A pause, and a rare moment of ferocity crosses over the otherwise adorable Evie-face. "/Now./"
Vena was pulling out a dagger to head off one of the ones that ran and she manages to get them in a neck hold, "Wait..." she states in a low tone.
The rest of the group and the lead just throw down their bags and blasters when Evie goes off. "Just take us in..." the lead guy tells them. "I don't want that big guy to hurt me...or the little girl to hurt me either..." he states.
Aryn lifts her spear up, untwisting the leather sling so that her arm can thread through it. The sharpened spearhead remains covered, the leather sheath still tied in place. Glancing around at all the figures, she recognizes most of them, except Terek. A chuckle, and the small Ubese lifts her helmet revealing the youthful fair face of a high born Alderaanian with bright blonde hair. There's sweat on her brow. "I appreciate your help!" A sweaty strand is guided behind her ear.
"Princess Aryn! Was that you under there... yeesh. I just thought all Ubese were shorties." Sajin says wih a bit of surprise, though, his attention is more on the older Chiss woman who's man handling he thug. "Damn... that's a nice takedown..."
It's okay because Terek has never met Aryn either, so it seems that the feeling is mutual. He slides his blaster back into its holster, and leans forward off of the boxes, "I just wanted to buy some fruit, honestly. I don't know why I keep finding myself in situations like this." At the mention of someone saying princess, he arches a brow, head tilting in curiosity and maybe a bit of confusion.
