Catch The Light: Part One

Ahch-to was going to be the new home for the Jedi or so that was what the rumor was. Which...wasn't really all that surprising if you think about it. Master Luke had been here and there was a wealth of history that was still left to uncover about the world. There had been numerous scouting parties that had set out and came back with topography of the planet and interesting spots to check.

Today a group had ventured to the planet today to see about giving an initial look over of some of the more promising or intriguing land structures and pings that they had on radars and things. They're off on a smaller island that's not been previously explored, but noted in the ever growing maps that they are realizing.

The point of interest has been marked and droids and datapads are able to guide them to it. It's just going to be a bit of a hike!

Rummors had been going around but Jax knew the answer was to try to find a source for kyber crystals. So the jedi was staring at a datapad while 70, his BB unit was rolling around his feet impatiently as it tried to put it's idea of where they should explore. "Anyone got any ideas on where to find a source of lightsaber crystals. Does the order have a geologist?"

Rey, with rebuilt quarterstaff, had stepped foot on this new island with a sense of wonder at what might be here. Part of exploring the relics of the Jedi is-- as she's learned --an unending mystery at what might lie around the next corner.

"Well this is promising." Rey says to the others with her while she uses her staff to help walk forward. Wearing a light jacket over her white clothing, Rey looks around to the others. "What kind of scans did we pick up for this island?" She asks Her eyes going to Jax then, who gets a shake from her head. "I don't think so. The Republic might have someone we could bring here though..." She quietly adds before stepping onwar.

"We need to find a cavern that hasn't been filled with ocean water, there has to be some entrance that might yield mining options...."

This was Ax's first trip to Ahch-to, and it was apparent that he was excited on the trip. He'd been to a lot of places in the galaxy, not all of them necessarily associated with the history of the force, and of those that were, not all were the most positives of locale.

Looking at Jax, Ax shrugs. "It would be nice to have a source, with Ilum gone, it's definitely been difficult."

Yuun is looks out at the vast oceans, his datapad was on a moment ago and he closes his eyes. There is a huge smile on his face, he's happy to be back here. Similar to how he was on Arisnar, he loves the water, which may be why he's normally around the beach or in the forests on Chandrila or Devaron. Still, he listens as the others speak. "I'm not, though we may need to search out with our feelings for them honestly." he says. "Though we could see...." he stops as Rey suggests maybe speaking with the New Republic about getting a geoligist out here.

Yuun nods his head in agreement, "That could help as well." he says as he turns to look at everyone. "Though who knows what we will find down there." he says pointing out at the vast oceans. "Yes it would, a source the Sith and Knights don't know anything about which would help us a lot." he states.

The small island has a lot of rocky and uneven terrain. A lot of places where things could be hidden or places or where people could fall in and die. Vega's not seeing anything that might help them with a path, but the mechanic is wandering with her bb unit and helping the droid get around as he's stubborn. She manages to find a hole in the ground and thankfully it's not one that has a spike pit in it. "I just found a hole, nothing spectacular." she mutters to herself. "Roundy, how about going back to the ship?" she whispers and points to the ship. She could hope!

Jax calls out, "You don't need help out of the hole do you, Vega?" Waiting a few moments for an answer. Jax looks to the others, "It's a shame we may need to bring one here. Though Yuun is probably right, hopefully the force will reveal to us what we seek." Then Jax standing there for a moment looking at one of the hills, "Off in the distance, almost a couple hundred meters give or take is that a path?" He the looks at 70 and lets out a whistle. "Hey Seventy, we might get a chance to update the map."

Rey pauses to look back to Vega to see if she's okay before her eyes sweep forward again. "We'll make a list of what precisely we need, equipment and personnel wise. That way we don't drag someone all the way out here just to ... have no use for them." She says with a slight smirk.

Jax's words has Rey looking up though and she nods once. "I see it. Yes." She says. "Its just up there, curving around the hill. Come on, lets check it out... and watch your step." She adds as noting more perilous looking pit falls on their right. "The lasty thing we want is someone tumbling over the ledge..."

Ax looks at the hole, and then he's looking where Jax was pointing. "I see it too," he says before looking between the others. "Like Yuun said, the force can guide us, but I still think we need to make sure we have the right gear for going into any caves or such."

Yuun grins a little and he bounds over to where Ax is, "Oh this is your first time here isn't it?" he asks. Ax has been doing this longer then he has and Yuun still has respect for Ax, hell everyone here outside of Vega helped him get to where he is now. Though he hopes to pay that back to Vega and the other Initiates as best he can.

He looks up, "Well use of the force and our normal senses should work." he states. He turns in the direction Jax indicates and he looks to Vega, a smile plays on his lips, "Nah bring your droid, this will be a teaching moment for you both." he says to her. "I'm gamed." he states to Rey with a smirk, lets see what the original home of the Jedi has in store for us." he states.

Vega's been with the order for awhile, so still bumbling around makes her look a little sheepish, "No, I'm good, just a small one. If there are any bigger ones though I'm sure one of us will find them!" the black robed Jedi gives a thumbs up to the others. "They said you can stay." she points to her eyes and then to her droid as she shoos him gently after that and then she's following the rest of the group.

The path leads them over ground that hasn't been walked in quiet some time. Retreading a space that must have been walked at some point by their forebearers, or someone else entirely. Over the hill the view gives way to a circular shaped ground that once housed a long toppled stone structure. Whatever was below it was lost to the ages and well...the necessary equipment to move the huge stones to get through things.

Jax looks out to Seventy, "Hold up! Don't get too far ahead." The little droid slows down and continues to map things. There's a small smile aimed at Vega. Though he doesn't wish to draw more attention to her. He though stops looking at the stone slab blocking something. The device to move it long gone. He points out at it. "Might be intresting to see what's hidden? Though it's going to take somebody stronger than me with telekinesis to move it. Alot stronger."

The end of Rey's staff impacts against the soft earth of the ground that they're walking across. When they step on to the pathway, Rey looks back to the ones behind her. "We're making good time at least... and there is something about this place... I have a good feeling about it." She notes before turning back to keep going.

The path they take leads them further across the island until they round a bend that reveals a structure. Rey pauses from their vantage point on the old old road to look down upon it. She huffs out a heavy exhale and nods her head once. "There might be Caretakers here, so lets be... on our best behavior. I believe they can be helpful, if we keep them on our good sides." She might be talking to herself...

Nevertheless Rey proceeds further on and when they reach the old evidence of a structure she begins to pace around its perimeter, her eyes dancing up and down it, all around it. Eventually she comes to where Jax is and looks at what he is referring to. She nods once before looking toward him. "You can move it, if you concentrate and just will the Force." She shows a hint of a grin before her eyes go to the others. "Come on, lets all pitch in on this one..." And with that said, Rey shifts her quarterstaff to her left hand and reaches out with her right...

"Yeah," Ax says to Yu'un. "First time here." Then, he's again lookin about the place. "I almost wish I could see this place through the view of time," he says. "Like, if I could open a viewscreen to thousands of years ago when the ruins were still fresh and in use," he mumbles.

Then, Ax is looking to Rey. "So, these caretakers, what are they exactly, and what language do they speak? Anything in particular I should not do to keep from their bad side?"

he walk is fun honestly, Yuun can't help it, being on a different island and exploring where their forebears had once resided. This just felt....right. Looking around the area, paying attention to their surroundings as he follows along the path with the others.

"Yes ma'am." he says to Rey. Even though she is a Paragon, he did feel that giving her something more of a formal title. He will think on that more later, right now he needed to focus. He drops down to where the otehrs are and he nods his head, "Alright, let's do it. We will be on our best behaviors Rey." he smiles

Once they pass a certain point there seems to be a heaviness. Something in the Force tries to push against the group, but almost everyone is able to fight the urge to take a step back and continue walking. Vega's poor Force sense just...go haywire for a moment and the young Echani takes a moment to look around like there might be something wrong, but there isn't, it's just her.

The heaviness is able to be overcame, but there is the work of clearing the stones, which is going to take a bit and might have been easier with construction droids...but they also would have mucked up the ground here. Which no one wanted.

Jax makes a hmm sound, "Something is trying to force us to move along." He says with a slight frown and raises an eyebrow. "Thank you for your confidence in my abilites. Telekinesis is just not one of my strengths. Though toghter we should be able to do it." Then reaching out with his hand and closing his eyes. The force flows through him and he start to try to raise the rock cap.

Seventy, who is recording everything, rolls up and whistles.

With the others at her sides, Rey begins to move the stones guarding and blockign their path. She lets her mind focus on her work, her eyelashes fluttering as a wind passes across her form. Once she lowers some of the stones to the ground a bit away, she looks to Ax. "I've never brought Threepio here. Master Luke seemed to understand them, but he never elaborated on what they're saying." She notes. "I... try to avoid them. Bad first impressions." She states as she goes back to the rocks. "There are descriptions of what some of the temples looked like in the Jedi Texts, back when this area was in use. But they're vague and worded in such an odd language style that even translating them..." She lifts another set of stones with her mind. "Has been a challenge..." She adds distractedly now as the rocks she's commanding float through the air toward the pile she's creating.

Her eyes go to the others then and she nods her head. "Keep it up. We're making a dent."

Ax nods to Rey, then looks at the daunting task of the rocks. Telekinesis was never his strong suit. Raising a hand, because it was easier to focus when one made somatic gestures for some reason, he closes his eyes, using his mind's eye to visualize what needed to be done. A thin bead of perspiration forms on his forehead as he's assisting the others in moving the rocks. "Would it be easier to just cut through it?" he asks through gritted teeth.

Yuun feels that as well, still he moves on though in the walking order he is near where Vega is. "Calm." he says offering her a smile. "Come on." he says to her as they move forward into the next area. Yuun lets out a breath as he holds out his hand to assist his family in clearing this area out. After a few moments he takes a few breaths. "I have to admit, I don't use this ability myself which may need to change." he says. He looks ahead and as Rey speaks he nods his head. "You're both right Jax and Rey." he says and he starts to follow the others further.

Vega's maybe going to be calm. At least she doesn't feel the heaviness anymore. She gives a nod to Yuun, "Got it." she tells him. Then she's helping with the heaving of rocks via telekinesis. Because that was a good mental workout!

They were going to see the light...or well dark soon though, Rey uncovers what looks to be a former start of a lift? But it has long been damaged and holdings look to be rotting away when people get closer.

There is the smell of stagnant air that comes up from the darkness. Not a good sign, but not the worst thing they've unconvered. They would definitely need more gear to make the next trip though.

Jax peers into the darkness for a moment as air that's went stale and stagnant has rushed up to meet them. "I don't know about venturing down there without some type of equipment. Maybe a flying droid like Itty, May have to speak to Nerys. That or my commando armor helmet." Jax makes his way up to the side of the mouth of the cave. Where he can still get plenty of fresh air. Then he reaches out to touch the side of the cave. The force flowing through him as he close his eyes and to feel what he can feel about the place. "I feel nothing but the weight of the force. It's pressing down on me."

Rey commands the rocks beofre her to move, more than one at once, a whole field of the rocks begin to levitate and swirl slowly through the air like an asteroid belt. She trails them all to her pile creating a little hill at this point until she drops her hand at her side again and exhales. "Right." She says as she walks now toward the open entryway. "Lightsabers might harm something important on the other sides of ruins like this... but... you never know what you might need to do..."

As Jax peers at the lift, Rey does the same, focusing her mind and senses on what might be below. "Right, spelunking equipment." She says before tearing her eyes away. "Update your maps. Lets not forget this spot. This very well could be precisely what we're after." She adds as she steps over to a ledge to open her bag on top of a rock to pull out a leather journal for her hand scribed maps of the islands they intend to search...

With the heavy lifting done, Ax lowers his hand and is breathing a bit heavily, as if he'd ran a marathon. "Fair enough," Ax says to Rey. "The fact that the air coming out of there was so nappy is a good sign. Means nobody has raided this place, at least in ages. Who knows if we'll find exactly what we're looking for, but maybe an ancient holocron that can help decipher the old texts, or at least give us insight into what things were like at that time period."

Looking to Vega as she replies to him. "Always remember, we got your back." he tells her. Yuun then follows ahead coming to the next barrier before them. This is honestly the most he's used telekinesis which causes the young Coruscant to frown inwardly. He lets out a breath, no need to focus on that, he will add that to his journal and things to improve list. He holds out his hand and takes his own words and focus. Small to medium sized rocks begin to dislodge themselves from the pile a larger one as well as Yuun submerges himself within the force. The boulders seem to swirl around one another and Yuun keeps his focus until he gets them away from him and the others and sets them down.

Yuun takes out his datapad and updates the information within it. He's bought another one for deep sea exploration as well as that area will be mapped. He's close to being ready to put up a mission suggestion to Rey about it.

The darkness swallows up any light that tries to penetrate it. The sunny rays getting batted away by the shadows that want to keep the old entrance to...whatever this place was secret. Vega gives a bit of a smile to Yuun, "Thank you." she states. Once all of their heavy lifting pays off she grabs a few things out of her pack and heads over to where others have gathered. She pulls a glow stick out and breaks it before tossing it down the hole.

It falls...

And falls...

They never hear the thunk of it and the light is swallowed up into the darkness again. "Yeah...climbing gear or maybe a jetpack." she offers to the others.

For now it was all in a days work and they had found a great wealth of new knowledge already!

"Let's hope it's something like that Ax and not somebody's prison." Jax says as he watches the light disappear. Then he closes his eyes for a moment. Then exhales. "The Force provides. Then again I learned that phrase from Bizz."

Rey is jotting something down in to her journal with a red ink pen holding the book open by its spine on her left hand, her staff tucked up against her shoulder as she writes. Her eyes look over to see Vega about to drop that glowstick...

Rey's head appears looking down the shaft too then to watch it go. "Oh... goodness." She says then as her eyes go up to the lift. "Yes, we'll need... some serious equipment." She mutters on her way back to where she left her bag on that rock. "Should we bring Threepio to introduce him to the Caretakers too?" She asks then. "Maybe he can get more info from them..."

Her journal is closed then and stuffed back in to her bag. "Okay. I'm ready to head back." She states as she takes hold of her staff again. "Good work, everyone." She states next with a happy expression upon her face.

"You're welcome." he says to Vega. Yuun walks over to where the old lift is. He watches as the glow stick falls, and falls. Crouching down, he looks down trying to shift his sight a bit but whatever it is keeps Yuun from doing so. "Well we can all chip in and get gear, that shouldn't be a problem." he says to them. He looks over to where Rey is, "Bringing Threepio here would be good if you've not done so yet. Having a translator and someone to communicate with the caretakers would be invaluable and also maybe here stories and legends from them about this place." he states.

"Definitely need more than my little synthrope dispenser holds," Ax says as he watches the glowstick fall. With an effort of will, he's looking down the shaft. "Ya know Jax, this might be a gate to the underworld, who knows what's down there?" With his eyes moved to see in the ultraviolet spectrum, he's still not able to see much. "I happen to have a good bit of climbing gear at my winery, I'm sure it's enough for everyone."
