Log:BHG: Grand Heist
Captain Qorbin and Dailo smuggle a great prize.
OOC Date: August 17, 2021
Location: The Wheel, Besh Gorgon
Participants: Andan Qorbin, Zuckuss, 4-LOM, Bossk, Dailo Fett
Dailo Fett and Captain Qorbin find themselves on a cargo lift making their way down to the staging level, a location on the station where high value items are stored in a vault like cargo hangar. 4-LOM has indicated a clear route to the prized items they came in search of provided the Captains crew could operate the loading gear and get it moved.
Dailo and her team of highly professional hunters were providing security, intending to escort the smuggler crew from one location to another. While in transit, Dailo changes into the Mando armor, setting aside a bit of modesty for the sake of the mission. She stuffs the fancy dress into a bag after donning the armor. When the bag is slung over her armored shoulders, she stands back up with her helmet tucked under an arm.
"Your team will need to move fast. If.. for some reason, we're attacked, leave it to my guys to fight them. Is your crew ready? There's no stopping once this is in motion?" Dailo's voice and tone revealed the accent she typically tried to hide. It was foreign and exotic, but her words seemed direct sparing little in the way of tact.
The changing of the garments was a mutual effort at the same time in fact. Though Andan just threw his discarded 'fancy crap' on the floor of the lift. He did kick some of it in to the corner though before he puts his jacket back on and was crouched down a bit to get his blaster holster on his thigh and belt harness.
"They're ready...." Andan says as he stands up and tugs on the lapel of his spacer jacket. His eyes go up for a moment as he scans for cameras? "I don't know if they'll really impress you on this run... I didn't hire them for combat scenarios." He reminds her for about the fourth time. His eyes look over her armor then and he exhales. "You got any more of those suits laying around? I don't really look forward to being shot again, though... I wouldn't mind seeing that doctor another time or two." He speaks softly and looks forward to the lift doors.
Dailo laughs, "You are incredulous. I like it. But no, sadly, no more armor like this. -- Your guys shouldn't have to worry about fighting. Leave that to my hunters. They're good. Very good." Dailo spares a glance to the legendary pair near them: Standing easily eight foot tall, Bossk wears an orange pressure suit with armor plating protecting his reptilian vitals. His green scaly skin refracts the light above as if he might have some sort of chameleon like ability. His eyes, emotionless, shift to glance back at Dailo and the Captain, though for commentary, he makes a sibilant noise. Ominous. Zuckuss, who is significantly shorter than the Trandoshan, shifts its fat body and adjusts the weapon it carries with one hand. Brown Findsman robes and combat webbing provide a platform by which it stores a vast array of weapons including grenades, knives, and even stun batons that look particularly painful. Its insect like eyes do not move but refract light that touches it, giving Zuckuss a rainbow array of colors for eyes.
Zuckuss takes in a healthy huff of ammonia, <"4-LOM sees the path we must follow even.."> He sighs out, relaxing from the effects of his self-induced narcotic. <"..I do not."> Zuckuss lifts his rifle to be held with both hands and bounces on his bug feet humorously.
"See? We are good." Dailo says, not convincingly enough. She brings her helmet up and dons it finally, adjusting slightly to draw a weapon from her own array of gear.
The doors finally open and Bossk reaches out to pull the cage doors open. "Lockssssssssss the gate, Zzzuckusssssssssssssssss, yesss? Quicker for transsssssit." Zuckuss responds by slamming a fist against the console over the 'lock' button. He breathes in loudly, <"The way is.."> Sighs out. <"..locked. We move forward now."> Both hunters raise their weapons and stride forward with a lazy gait of confidence. Dailo shares a look with Andan, nods, and follows after the pair she's known her whole life.
They arrive at the vault door and lights began to come online, snapping loudly section by section. 4-LOM's voice sounded over comms. <<"Stand by, little Hunter.">> For a moment, the only view they had of the vault door was it being encased with red lights. It takes an uncomfortable amount of time for 4-LOM to achieve success, but the vault door turns green and the locks begin to depressurize and open. Zuckuss tries to pull the door open and just strains. Bossk hisses with laughter and has no trouble opening the hatch by pressing a button triggering the hydraulic release. The door parts down the center. "Amateur." Bossk says, insulting the Findsman who shifts uncomfortably. Taking an annoyed huff, the Gand replies, <"This is why.."> Sighs out, <"...I have 4-LOM."> Dailo facepalms.
With the doors open, they are brought to a wide hangar with tall ceilings. All manner of prizes sit here, from rare ships, to racks of weaponry. There's speeders. And there in the back, some twenty power source generators arranged in a formation and strapped to pallets. Power loader suits and speeder trucks are parked in a designated zone nearby.
Dailo steps into the hangar and looks around. <"This is your arena, Captain."> Dailo looks from the generators to the Captain and his crew.
Andan smirks at Dailo before his eyes go back ahead to the two veteran mercs or hunters or whatever they are. He eyes them over quietly, observing the weapons and clear 'calm' demeanors that they have in this. Especially the Gand.... Andan's eyes go down to his own umodified stock blaster pistol and it makes him sigh. "I really need to up my game..." He mutters mostly to himself though Dailo likely can hear it too.
When the doors open up and the others move ahead, Andan follows along, his jacket waving about his form as he walks. "Something about this feels quiet." He mutters just before the two elder hunters get the doors open and the interior is revealed. His eyes go forward and his expression visibly centers on all the.... loot.
"Okay, right...." He states before sighing. "We need to focus on..." He nods across the room to the power suppliers. "Those. Lets not get our heads in the atmo here. Lets find a ... skiff or something to transport these outta here." The Smuggler starts to scan around for a speeder or a transport of some variety that they can use.
"Its too quiet..." He mutters again as he does this.
A deep, loud intake of air, <"You will find the trucks you seek,"> Long sigh and release of breath, <"..over there, Captain."> Zuckuss says, pointing to the large bed speeder trucks parked in specific parking. Meanwhile, Bossk is scanning the area slowly, stepping with definitive heavy thunks from each footfall; he weighs, easily, three hundred pounds or more. Priming his cannister rifle, Bossk agrees aloud to the Captain. "Yessss, we are being hunted. Move quickly, Little Hunter. Our quarry move againssssssssssst ussssssss."
Dailo is already moving to one of the speeder trucks and opening the door. <"The key fobs are in them. There's cranes on the back..come on!">
Andan turns when he's directed to where they need to go to get the trucks. "Right." He says before he hears the comment about them being 'hunted'. This illicits a calm sigh from the Captain. "Fantastic." He adds with clear reserved dismay.
He runs with Dailo toward one of the trucks, but where she goes for the driver's seat, he goes for the back of the truck. A nimble jump upward has him on its side and then the man crawls up to the controls.
"Okay, lets go!" He says loudly back toward the armored woman in the cab. "I'll grab'em and put on the bed." He scans the controls over and mutters. "I hope..." While his hands get familiar with the control board...
The truck doesn't want to start initially, and it really frustrates Dailo. <"...come on.. come on!"> She laments aloud. After the first series of engine and starter sounds, Dailo takes a moment to make a few adjustments in the cab. The gear is put in neutral, she pushes in a clutch, then presses the button to start. The engine comes to life this time and she revvs it with an idle press of the 'gas'. <"Yes!"> Shifting the big rig into gear, she rotates the yolk and moves the truck toward the energy supply generators, coming to a slow stop, indicative of the fact the repulsors weren't 'warmed up' just yet. She lets the thing idle and climbs out of the truck seat to give the Captain a thumbs up.
"Haaaaaaaaaa!" Bossk cries out in both surprise and delight.
THUUUUUUUNK
The sound of his cannister rifle discharges and a subsonic grenade hits the side of a parked speeder prize releasing a cloud of corrosive gas that not only made the paint peel, but forced four mercenaries from hiding as their skin began to melt. Their screams were of pain, but they gave away to the Trandoshan's laughter as he announced, "Four to the Sssssssscorekeeper, yesssssss?" Blaster fire erupts around the Trandoshan who ducks beneath to take cover. He releases the breach on his weapon to feed in another cannister.
Zuckuss spots a sniper high above hidden in the shadow of the rafters. <"I see you."> He comments, angling his rifle up and firing a high-powered bolt that split their head and dropped them from their hiding spot. They fell but their tether stopped them from falling all the way, and a gory display swung from side to side as the ceiling erupted with blaster fire to retaliate against the Findsman. Zuckuss takes a hit in the chest which forces him to take a step back. He adjusts his shoulder afterward, looking down then up at the one responsible and points. <"I see your death next!"> He yells, huffing the A once again and raising his weapon.
<"Wow! That's a lot of mercs. Hurry, Captain,"> Dailo says to Andan, staying near him to shield his frame with her own body.
Andan hears the truck struggling to start up which has him sweating a bit right before the blaster fire starts, and then he's sweating a bunch more! "Come on." He mumbers to the Crane not unlike Dailo in the Cab. He turns the heavy metal arm back and forth to get it warmed up and test out its drive. When the truck moves he braces himself as he hears the screams from the acid coated attackers.
His eyes look up, but quickly look away. "I never cared much for sleep anyway..." He mutters with his teeth gritted...
When the truck is put in place, Andan looks over to see Dailo taking up a guard spot as the other hunters are doing their thing. "Yeah, yeah!" He says louder as he reaches for the first cannister on the crane!
The crane hand grabs on tot he slots on the edges of the cannister and he starts to hoist it up to the truck bed!
"Just don't look at the headless man swinging from the rafters..." Andan murmers as he draws the power cannister to the truck!
Bossk fires another cannister of death, achieving minimal velocity for it to explode and coat a pair of mercs in its contents. More cries of pain are punctuated by returning laser fire which finds mostly air until one manages a shoulder shot that doesn't seem to faze the Trandoshan, who is in the middle of completing a third ritual of reloading.
Zuckuss fulfills his promise of killing the one who shot him. A high powered bolt catches them in the chest and leaves them limp in the rafters. Their weapon fell from above and smashed against the decking. Zuckuss takes in a heavy breath of air, <"I told you!.."> He sighs out then, releasing the breath. <"..I find and see what others do not!"> He cycles the bolt on his rifle and steps forward, ducking slightly to avoid a slew of incoming fire.
From the rafters, a warrior in white plasteel armor wearing a Mando helmet comes into the open. He is using a rocketpack and intends to attack Captain Andan and Dailo! Dailo runs and jumps off the edge of the truck just as Andan sets the first generator on the bed. Leaping through the air, Dailo latches onto this airborne warrior's foot and brings him DOWN to the ground.
They both land on the decking hard, losing their weapons. Dailo rolls from her back to her knees and rises up with all the indications of enthusiastic youth, while the warrior is slower and more deliberate, the telltale of age. They engage in close quarters, Dailo scoring a pair of solid strikes that began with a leading kick. The warrior is sent sliding across the decking but rises up more spry than Dailo anticipated. <"You fight like a young warrior!"> He cries out in an accented tone that caught Dailo /completely/ off guard. He shatters her surprise with a hook across her helmeted face that sent her to the ground. She clatters noisily there and rolls away from his kick. Upon rising up, Dailo enters a warrior stance but the word slips from her mouth. <"Dad?">
The other warrior doesn't answer; they just charge right at her. Immediately, Dailo knew this was not her father. It wasn't his style to attack with feral intent. Boba was precise, a professional.
Andan has the first generator onthe bed easily enough, scooting it in to the corner of the bed to save room for the others. The second one is grabbed with the giant metal claw while the hunters do their work to protect this evac of their important cargo. He continues to mutter and try to ignore the screams of death and pain...
The second generator is hoisted up in to the air via its niched cannister and drawn to the truck, but just before he sets it down, Andan notices the bed is blanketed by the cranes own power cables. "Mother of Pordge..." The Captain utters while stepping away fromt he controls to quickly grab the power calbes out of the way so they're not crushed by the lowering generator. He yanks the cables aside and tosses them in to another corner just as the generator is set down where they were.
When he looks back over at Dailo he sees she's fighting someone in similar armor. "Great. They're multiplying.... and they don't like each other..." He says before going for the last two.
He's getting better at this crane though and does a daring move to trya nd grab both of the generators left on the ground at the same time by only using two of the claws three appendages!
Dailo hip-tosses the charging warrior with a flare of her hip and stretch of one leg. It was a practiced technique the followed-through, planting the older warrior against the deck and on their back. Dailo released him and twisted, kicking hard to strike their head and ring his bells with a full-fledged punt. He sustained the hit well and retaliated by twisting. He tried to latch onto her but she danced back. It was his leg sweep that caught her off guard, and again.. Dailo is brought down to the ground in a clatter of gear with her senses in a vertiginous state. <"Ugh.">
Zuckuss casually blasts a fleeing merc who ran across his path, leading the shot with deadly precision and dropping them after a single discharge of his weapon. They crumble to the ground as he cycles the bolt, then he ducks another shot from above.
Bossk fires into the rafters catching the rest of the snipers in a single cloud of corrosive gas. They all fall out of the rafters and melt, leaving a measly trio to fight the two legendary hunters. The mercs take to hiding from the hunters. Bossk evacuates the breach of his weapon and fills in another cannister, locking it in place with a loud SNAP. "Your hiding prolongsssssss your demissse. Bosssssk will play. HAhaaaa."
Andan watches the two generators fall down again on to their holding palettes which makes him wince. He lines the Crane up for another run on them but there's little else he can do but manipulate the controls and listen to the battle around him. He does take note of Dailo's situation and it makes him switch to using just his left hand on the crane controls while his right goes down to his thigh to draw his blaster out of its holster....
He raises the weapon up and aims it down sights at the armored man attacking her. "I'm gonna regret this...." He says under his breath as he squeezes the trigger and starts to fire on the man in the armor!
And keeps trying to load another generator! Multi-tasking for life!
Slower to rise this time, Dailo shakes her head to realign her senses and perceives, in slow motion, Kalus (the mysterious Mando) tumble away from Andan's blaster fire. He arrives near his discarded weapon from before and picks it up off the deck. It's a silvery pistol which catches the light /just/ right and mesmerizes Dailo a moment. That belongs to Dad, she thinks.
The Mando tilts his head down and raises the ornate weapon up, taking aim at Andan now. Dailo tries to scramble up from the ground but its slick against the soles of her boots which squeak as she pumps her legs to run toward him. She gets to running, but she's not certain she'll make it in time to disrupt his shot! DREK!
Bossk lumbers through the maze of loot searching and finding nothing. Zuckuss takes a heavy hit of A and follows 'the path' he hallucinates only to find a hiding merc in a small alcove. The merc cries out, raising their hands. "NO! WAIT--" but their plea is cut off by a point blank shot that spills the contents of their head. Zuckuss sucks in a deep breath, <"You will find more time now.."> Sighs... <"...in the afterlife.">
The third generator is dropped on to the truck bed with a thud and Andan takes his shots! He fires several blaster bolts that all miss their target only to see said target roll acrobatically away and raise up their own fancy looking blaster pistol.
"Those were warning shots!" Andan calls out. He shouts in a last ditch effort to bluff the enemy Mando before the man looks like he's about to fire! Andan tries to duck behind the metal control box of the Crane, not realizing Dailo is charging the man now too!
Dailo pours her heart and soul into trying to save Andan. Some measure of her training and sheer kriffing will shine through and she makes it to Kalus just in time to angle his blaster up toward her instead. Kalus acts surprised by her sudden arrival, and she capitalizes on that by forcing a hateful knee into his chin. Dailo hits him so hard that he spills onto the deck, back first again and slides backward, producing sparks from the metal flooring.
Dailo comes after him, lashing out and missing. Kalus dodged and initiated his jetpack, taking to the air to get away from her. He fires the ornate weapon that produces a very particular sound. Red bolts rain down around Dailo but she's certain she rang his bell harder than he intended and couldn't see straight.
Definitely not her father, she confirms, standing her ground as the shots spark off the deck around her. Kalus flees the battle then. <"Until we meet again."> He calls back, landing near the entrance. He blasts the console controlling the doors and locks them inside the vault.
Dailo picks up her discarded weapon and holsters it, looking up to Andan. <"Warning shots? Really?!">
Bossk finds a hiding merc and lifts them up off the ground with one arm. Choking them, they struggle, feet off the ground and dangling. Bossk laughs and cast the dead body aside there after. Zuckuss is having not luck, and pauses to take in a sharp breath.
<<"Four-LOM.. some guy just scuttled the door console for our exit. Can you do anything to help us out?">> Dailo says, annoyance in her accented tone.
<<"Not from here, Little Hunter. I will make my way down. Stand by.">>
Andan peers up over the crane controls in time to see Dailo come to his rescue. "She's either got more confidence than she deserves, or that armor is really really nice." He mutters as he stands back up and watches the Mando retreat in to the sky with his fancy jet pack. "They fly now." He adds with a disbelief on his voice before his eyes go down to the controls and he quickly operates them to get the last of the generators hoisted up!
When he draws it over to the truck he drops it down and watches it teeter on the edge. "No no no..." He quickly says as he controls the crane claw to steady the generator and drag it on to the truck bed.
"Got'em!" Andan shouts back to Dailo and then looks around for the unsettling duo of aliens who were with them on this. "Lets get the poondidge outta here!" He shouts while turning to run up the back of the truck toward the cab!
Zuckuss takes in another sharp breath and lifts a canvas cover to find the final mercenary. When he releases his breath, he says, <"Found you!"> BLAM! The blaster at close range instantly kills the merc, and Zuckuss conceals the deed by dropping the canvas back over them. Walking back toward the truck, the Gand cycles the bolt on his rifle and waddles up the ramp to the bed of the truck. After a deep breath, the Gand begins, <"Have we found a way.."> Siiiiiigh. <"...out of here, Little Hunter?">
<"Four-LOM is working on it. We are all loaded up though. Strap that drek down, Captain.. we are taking the whole truck aboard your ship. No time to unload it."> Dailo is having a problem with the truck again, the gear grinding loudly, refusing to set into place. Bossk opens the door to the driver side and motions for her to move. "Sssssssssssscoot over. Let Bossssssssk try." Dailo complies and moves aside. Bossk forces the gear in place and revs the engine.
Wheezing out a laugh, the Trandoshan regards Dailo. "Usssssssssser error, HAhaaaa!"
The door to the vault begins to open again and standing at the center of the opening is a bronze plated droid holding a shotgun. It's 4-LOM. As Bossk drives toward the opening, Zuckuss holds out a meaty bug arm for 4-LOM to latch onto and pull itself up. "My gratitude," The droid exclaims, looking over Zuckuss and Andan with a cold, lifeless stare.
Andan takes up a point behind the cab with his right arm resting on the bar across it, and his left going for his comm unit inside one of his jacket pockets. At the shout of taking the whole truck on to the Rascal, Andan gives it a quick look-over before he pulls his comm up.
"Migul." Andan speaks in to the commlink. "Migul, we're on our way. Lower the starboard cargo hold lift. We're bringing the whole truck up in to the ship." He states as he watches 4-Lom join them on the truck. Migul replies over the link and Andan raises it up again to reply. "Yeah, the fight is over, for now, but wwe're making a quick exit, not sure if there's more coming for us, so have Natalia prep the ship. We're gonna beat feet and get outta here fast."
Migul says something else and Andan quickly snaps back on the com. "It is too an expression!" He shuts the com off for now and stuffs it back in to his jacket pocket before looking ahead to their driving destination. "Good work with that big fella." He calls down to Dailo.
<"Thanks. I would've done better, but.. he reminded me of someone."> Dailo calls back. Bossk changes the gear and pulls the speeder into the lift, then shifts down. 4-LOM uses the long barrel of its shotgun to hit the 'ascend' button on the locked lift, and they begin to go up. Bossk regards Dailo for a moment before commenting seriously, for once. "The one you fought, yessss? A clone. From the warssss." Dailo nods, still looking ahead, some what haunted by the sound of his voice. <"I know.">
Bossk pats Dailo's shoulder. "It is not Bullet. Too sssslow, fight like sssssoldier. Bosssssk knowssss." He confides, resting an elbow out the window of his door casually. <"His techniques were old. Something I was taught as a kid. He goes through the motions of a warrior, but he is no Mandalorian."> Dailo relays back to Bossk. The Trandoshan just nods his big head.
<"You work under these.."> Siiiigh, <"..conditions a lot, Captain?"> The Findsman asks the Smuggler, turning its bug head to regard him. Behind them, 4-LOM watches their tail, ensuring no surprises sneak up on them. The lift is almost to the top.
Andan doesn't know who Dailo is talking about and just lets it lie there for now. When he turns around and lowers down to sit on the edge of the metal truck bed with his back to the bars separate the bed from the cab, he hears the question from the Gand. "Ah. No." He replies, his eyes looking over his shoulder again before back to the Findsman. "No, generally we do everything in our power to avoid these kind of things. Less money, I suppose, but less wounds to patch up too. Usually." He ejects the old powerpack on his blaster and jams a new one in to it before putting the blaster down on his thigh. "Things change though, right?" He says in a less than thrilled voice, nerves, of course!
<"Ah,"> Answers the Gand, who sighs after, <"Smuggling sounds boring without the gunwork."> Zuckuss slings the rifle over his fat shoulder and unholsters a revolver, locking its hammer back with a loud click-CLICK. The weapon is held low, and the droopy sleeve arm of his Findsman robes conceal it for now. <"At first, I did not enjoy the action.."> Siiigh, <"but now.. I search for it every where I go. Creds.. are nice."> Another sharp breath. <"Life is more than money, sometimes.."> Siiiiigh. <"..you need a little bit of fun.">
They make it to the top and Bossk shifts the gear into place, taking them forward. Dailo grows quiet from there, watching with anticipation as they make it out of the cargo area and into the line of cargo transports going to ships moving legitimate cargo. They are stopped by one of the deck specialists and given a look over. When approached at the driver's side, Bossk hands off a datapad. "It checks out," Comments the specialist who waved them along. "Move along. Move along." Bossk initiated the accelerator and took them toward the Rascal and awaiting crew. After disembarking the cab, Dailo met with Andan. <"The coordinates to our destination, Captain. Get us the hell out of here.">
Andan is at first a bit concerned about the check point for this load, but then he reminds himself what group he's with. These 'guys' are real at this stuff. Dailo, and the aliens with her, they are more experienced at this stuff than he and his crew are. So he just swipes his hand under his nose and then 'acts casual' at the front of the truck bed.
When they're waved through he nods once to the two back in the bed with him then looks forward at the red white and black YT-1300 they're pulling up to.
He jumps out of the bed of the truck and meets Dailo. "Got it." He says to her when she hands off the coordinates. He motions to Bossk to pull the truck on to the lowered cargo lift under the YT-ship and then starts toward Migul and Hondo who are waiting for them to arrive. "Lets get this going." He tells everyone before bounding up in to the ship through the open ramp!
Dailo, Bossk, 4-LOM, and Zuckuss make it up the ramp, too. Leaving the labor to the crew hired to do it. Once inside, Dailo removes her helmet and pulls out a long-distance holo-communicator. There isn't an image that comes up from the person receiving the call, not even a sound to answer. Just silence. Dailo reports, "We have the pay load and are leaving Besh Gorgon now. Expect us within a few hours, I'll have Bossk transmit the IRR. There's something else.. but, I'll tell you in person. Wire the creds to my account, the team here did good work and I'll pay them for it. Fett out."
Dailo kills the feed and meets up with Zuckuss who wraps an arm around her narrow shoulders. <"Did I ever tell you about the time.."> Siigh, and Zuckuss' voice trails off..
