Bindi Ma'dar grew up in a mixed family, with a mother who was Mando'a and a father who was a master of Teras Kasi. Thus, she developed a slightly more philosophical view of the universe than the traditional Mando'a one. When she was of age she started earning money for her clan as a mercenary, but was betrayed by a Hapan client into slavery. While the slavers tried to break her physically, she endured, until she was saved by Maeti Distayre and Riwa Sur from her predicament. Feeling she needed to repay their actions, she joined Clan Sur, becoming the adopted daughter of its alor, Jarret Sur. She assisted in building the new Mandalorian colony for Clan Sur on the planet Lok, and eventually chose to remain there as a trainer for the up and coming children of the clan.
